  • Drainage system in railroad has a very important role to operate the system. Drainage system should be carefully considered in design and construction due to a difficult access to the system during operation. In this paper, recent case histories were presented, which showed how an improper drainage system affects the railroad operation.

지역간 철도의 노선계획 최적화 모형 (Line Planning Optimization Model for Intercity Railway)

  • 본 연구는 지역간 여객 철도의 노선계획을 최적화하는 방법에 관한 연구이다. 본 연구의 노선계획 모형은 다양한 차종이 운용되는 철도노선에서 이용자비용(이용자의 총 통행시간)과 운영자비용(열차 운행비용, 유지 보수비용, 차량 구입비용)의 합을 최소화하고자 하는 혼합정수계획 수리모형으로 구축되었고, 모형의 해법으로 분기한정법이 사용되었다. 수요의 변화, 열차 속도의 변화, 정차스케줄 수의 변화 등에 대한 민감도 분석 결과도 제시하였고, 국내 경부선의 사례연구를 통하여 각 열차차종의 차종별 수요 분할 뿐만 아니라 최적 정차스케줄과 운행빈도를 동시에 산출할 수 있음을 보여주었다. 본 연구의 모형과 결과는 열차 운영 전략을 수립하거나 새로운 철도 시스템의 효율성을 분석하거나 이용자 운영자의 사회적 비용을 산정하는 경우 등에 적용될 수 있다.

자동화 컨테이너 터미널에서 수직형 블록의 이적작업을 위한 할당 및 작업순서 (Assignment and Operation Sequencing for Remarshalling of a Vertical Yard Block in Automated Container Terminals)

  • 이적작업은 적하작업과 반출작업을 신속하게 처리하기 위해 자동화 컨테이너 터미널에서 중요하게 고려하는 운영 전략들 중의 하나이다. 이는 ATC(Automated Transfer Crane)의 운반시간과 재취급 작업시간을 줄이기 위해 장치장 블록에 산적되어 있는 컨테이너들을 재배치하는 작업이다. 본 논문은 가능한 컨테이너 이동을 최소화하면서 한 수직형 블록 내에 장치된 컨테이너들의 배치 형태를 바람직한 배치 형태로 전환시키기 위한 이적계획 문제를 다룬다. 이 문제는 선후관계를 가지는 2개의 하위 문제 즉, 장치위치 할당문제와 장비 작업순서 문제로 분할된다. 장치위치 할당문제는 운반시간의 관점에서 현재 장치되어 있는 컨테이너들 중에서 어떤 컨테이너를 어느 베이에 옮길 것인가를 결정한다. 이의 결과를 가지고 장비 작업순서 문제는 장치 공간의 제약을 고려하여 ATC의 이동시간을 최소화하는 작업순서를 정한다. 본 연구에서는 정수계획법과 동적계획법을 이용하여 각 하위문제를 모형화 하였다. 제안된 모형을 이용하여 이적계획 과정을 설명하기 위한 예제를 제시하였다.

제주지역 크루즈터미널 계획 및 운영 실태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Planning and Operation Status of Cruise Terminal in Jeju)

  • Although Jeju is the best cruise Secondary port in Northeast Asia, currently there are no dedicated cruise terminals. The port international passenger terminal opened in 2015 has a ferry terminal for offshore passengers and a cruise passenger function. Jeju Island is therefore constructing a cruise only terminal with the aim of opening in 2018 to meet the growing passenger demand at the Seoguipo civilian and public ports along with construction of a naval base at Gangjeong Port in Seogwipo City. It also plans to build cruise docks and cruise terminals in the Jeju New Port according to the Jeju port construction basic plan. However, during the construction and planning process of cruise terminals in Jeju, the adequacy of the terminal size is being debated and the immigration facilities are being operated. Therefore, the study analyzed the size of terminals and operation of immigration facilities appropriate for cruise passenger demand by investigating the status of cruise related facilities and operation in Jeju area. Based on this, the Commission hopes to explore the rational direction of the cruise terminal plan to revive the cruise industry in Jeju and provide high quality service to cruise passengers.

  • Recently, the importance of plant maintenance(PM) was highly raised to provide efficient plant operation which highly affects the productivity. For this reason, a number of engineering methodologies, such as riskbased inspection(RBI), fitness for service guidelines(FFS), plant lifecycle management(PLM), have been applied to improve the plant operation efficiency. Also, a network-based business operation system, which is called ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning), has been introduced in the field of plant maintenance. However, there was no attempt to connect engineering methodologies to the ERP PM system. In this paper, a knowledge-based information system for the plant operation of steel making company has been proposed. This system, which is named as K-VRS(Knowledge-based Virtual Reality System), provides a connection between ERP plant maintenance module and knowledge-based engineering methodologies, and thus, enables network-based highly effective plant maintenance process. The developed system is expected to play a great role for more efficient and safer plant maintenance.

  • Manufacturing technology for the production of high value-added fine chemical products is emphasized and getting more attention as the diversified interests of customers and the demand of high quality products are getting bigger and bigger everyday. Thus, the development of advanced batch processes, which is the preferred and most appropriate way of producing these types of products, and the related technologies are becoming more important. Therefore, high-precision batch distillation is one of the important elements in the successful manufacturing of fine chemicals, and the importance of the process operation strategy with quality assurance cannot be overemphasized. Accordingly, proposing a process structure explanation and operation strategy of such processes including batch processes and batch distillation would be of great value. We investigate optimal operation strategy and production planning of multi-purpose plants consisting of batch processes and batch distillation for the manufacturing of fine chemical products. For the short-term scheduling of a sequential multi-purpose batch plant consisting of batch distillation under MPC and UIS policy, we proposed a MILP model based on a priori time slot allocation. Also, we consider that the waste product of being produced on batch distillation is recycled to the batch distillation unit for the saving of raw materials. The developed methodology will be especially useful for the design and optimal operations of multi-purpose and multiproduct plants that is suitable for fine chemical production.

Flexible operation and maintenance optimization of aging cyber-physical energy systems by deep reinforcement learning

  • Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (CPESs) integrate cyber and hardware components to ensure a reliable and safe physical power production and supply. Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) add uncertainty to energy demand that can be dealt with flexible operation (e.g., load-following) of CPES; at the same time, scenarios that could result in severe consequences due to both component stochastic failures and aging of the cyber system of CPES (commonly overlooked) must be accounted for Operation & Maintenance (O&M) planning. In this paper, we make use of Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) to search for the optimal O&M strategy that, not only considers the actual system hardware components health conditions and their Remaining Useful Life (RUL), but also the possible accident scenarios caused by the failures and the aging of the hardware and the cyber components, respectively. The novelty of the work lies in embedding the cyber aging model into the CPES model of production planning and failure process; this model is used to help the RL agent, trained with Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and Imitation Learning (IL), finding the proper rejuvenation timing for the cyber system accounting for the uncertainty of the cyber system aging process. An application is provided, with regards to the Advanced Lead-cooled Fast Reactor European Demonstrator (ALFRED).

지자체 U-도시계획 수립방법 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improving Ubiquitous Strategy Planning for Local Governments)

  • Korean local governments have been planning for u-City construction with great efforts. Such efforts are needed in order to reflect the urban characteristics of each city, to promote local economic growth, and to have a sustainable operation model. Thus it is critical at an earlier stage to set a strategic direction based on urban environment analysis, which will lead to a feasible implementation of u-City. This paper derives issues and suggests improvement methods based on a case study on the USPs (u-City Strategy Planning's) of ten local governments. It is expected that the improvement methods will greatly reduce risks involved in u-City construction and contribute to better provided local-specific u-services.

전력시장에 적용 가능한 새로운 전원개발계획문제 모델링 (Modeling New Generation Expansion Planning Problems for Applications in Competitive Electric Power Industries)

  • The demise of the native franchise markets and the emergence of competitive markets in electricity generation service is substantially altering the way that operation and planning activity is conducted and is making it increasingly difficult for market participants such as generation firms to prospect the future electricity markets. Traditional generation expansion planning (GEP) problems which centrally determine the least-cost capacity addition plan that meets forecasted demand within pre-specified reliability criteria over a planning horizon (typically 10 to 20 years) is becoming no more valid in competitive market environments. Therefore, it requires to develop a new methodology for generation investments, which is applicable to the changed electric industry business environments and is able to address the post-privatization situation where individual generation firms seek to maximize their return on generation investments against uncertain market revenues. This paper formulates a new generation expansion planning problem and solve it in a market-oriented manner.
