The physico-chemical and texture characteristics of meat determine the nutritional, technological and sensory quality. However, the analysis of meat quality requires expensive, laborious and time consuming analytical methods. The objective of this study was to evaluate NIR spectroscopy using transmittance for determining the moisture, fat, protein and total pigment content, the water holding capacity (WHC) and the toughness of beef meat. A total of 318 spectra were recorded from ground beef samples by a Feed Analyzer 1265 of Infratec. The samples were obtained from the Longissimus muscle of the 10$^{th}$ rib of yearling bulls, ground with an electrical chopper, vacuum packaged, aged during 7 days and frozen at -24$^{\circ}C$ until the analyses were done. Moisture content was measured by oven drying at 10$0^{\circ}C$, fat content was determined by Soxhlet extraction and protein content was estimated from nitrogen content using the Kjeldahl analysis. The total pigment content was determined by the method of Hornsey and the WHC using the method of filter paper press. The instrumental evaluation of texture (maximum load WB, maximum stress MS and toughness) was conducted in an Instron equipment with a Warner-Bratzler shearing device. This analysis was performed on a chop of 3.5 cm obtained from the longissimus of the 8$^{th}$ rib, aged during 7 days, kept frozen at -24$^{\circ}C$ and cooked before the analysis. Near infrared spectra were recorded as log 1/T (T=transmittance) at 2 nm intervals from 850 to 1050 nm using a Feed Analyzer 1265 of Infratec. Calibrations were performed with the WinISI software (vs. 1.02) using the MPLS method. To examine the effect of scatter correction o. derivation of spectra on the calibration performance, calibrations were calculated with the crude spectra or pretreated with different mathematical treatments (inverse MSC, SNVD) and/or second derivative operation. For chemical composition, the use of the scatter corrections improved the calibration statistics, in terms of lower SECV and higher $r^2$. In most of the variables, the use of the 2$^{nd}$ derivative improved the predictions, mainly when combined with the SNVD treatment. However, for predicting the texture traits, the best estimation was obtained from the crude spectrum. These results showed that the equations obtained for predicting moisture, fat and total pigments were very accurate, with $r^2$ being higher that 0.9. However, the prediction of the texture traits (WB, MS, toughness) from ground meat was poor.

HDD-based RAIDs have been used in high-capacity storage systems for traditional data server. However, their data reliability are relatively low and they consume lots of power since hard disk drive is weak on shock and its power consumption is high due to frequent spindle motor operation. Therefore, this paper presents new SSD based RAID system architecture using various erasure codes. The proposed methode applys Reed-Solomon, EVENODD, and Liberation coding schemes onto file system level and device driver level, respectively. Besides, it uses data allocation method to minimize the side effect of reducing the lifespan of SSD. Detail experimental results show that Liberation code increase wear-leveling rates of SSD based RAID-6 more than other codes. The SSD based RAID system applying erasure codes at the device driver level shows better performance than that at the file system level. I/O performance of RAID-6 system using SSD is 4.5%~8.5% higher than that of using HDD and the power consumption of the RAID system using SSD is 18%~40% less than that of using HDD.

Crack sealing is a maintenance procedure that is commonly used to reduce pavement degradation. If cracks in pavements are not sealed, surface water penetration can reduce the strength of the sub-base layers, which can result in increased deflections of the pavement. Reduced strength of the sub-base also accelerates the deterioration of the surface, due to development of greater cracking and potholes. Crack sealing is performed to reduce water and debris penetration, thereby helping to maintain pavement structural capacity and limiting future degradation. The process of sealing cracks in pavements is however dangerous, costly, and labor-intensive operation. Labor turnover and training are increasing problems related to crack sealing crews, and as traffic volumes increase. Automating crack sealing can reduce labor and road user costs, improve work quality, and decrease worker exposure to roadway hazards. The main objective of this research is to develop an automated system for sealing cracks in pavement. Extension of the algorithms and tools presented in this research is also recommended for future study.
Lab-scale Electrodialysis(ED) system with different membranes combined with before or after pyroma process were carried out to remove nitrate from two pickling acid wastewater containing high concentrations of $NO_3\;^-$(${\approx}$150,000 mg/L) and F($({\approx}$ 160,000 mg/L) and some heavy metals(Fe, Ti, and Cr). The ED system before Pyroma process(Sample A) was not successful in $NO_3\;^-$ removal due to cation membrane fouling by the heavy metals, whereas, in the ED system after Pyroma process(Sample B), about 98% of nitrate was removed because of relatively low $NO_3\;^-$ concentration (about 30,000 mg/L) and no heavy metals. Mono-selective membranes(CIMS/ACS) in ED system have no selectivity for nitrate compared to divalent-selective membranes(CMX/AMX). The operation time for nitrate removal time decreased with increasing the applied voltage from 10V to 15V with no difference in the nitrate removal rate between both voltages. Nitrate adsorption of a strong-base anion exchange resin of $Cl\;^-$ type was also conducted. The Freundlich model($R^2$ > 0.996) was fitted better than Langmuir mode($R^2$ > 0.984) to the adsorption data. The maximum adsorption capacity ($Q^0$) was 492 mg/g for Sample A and 111 mg/g for Sample B due to the difference in initial nitrate concentrations between the two wastewater samples. In the regeneration of ion exchange resins, the nitrate removal rate in the pickling acid wastewater decreased as the adsorption step was repeated because certain amount of adsorbed $NO_3\;^-$ remained in the resins in spite of several desorption steps for regeneration. In conclusion, the optimum system configuration to treat pickling acid wastewater from stainless-steel industry is the multi-processes of the Pyroma-Electrodialysis-Ion exchange.

The flexural behavior tests of UHPC segmental U-girder and composite U-girder which has 160MPa compressive strength and 15.4m length were carried out. The test variables are volume fraction of steel fibers and slab over the U-girder. Each U-girder has longitudinal re-bars in web and lower flange. PS tendons which has 2 of 15.2mm diameter in upper flange and PS tendons which has 7 of 15.2mm diameter in lower flange were arranged and prestressed at onetime in U-girder connection stage. Enough strong prestressing force which applied to U-girder due to ultra high performance concrete strength can withstand the self weight and dead load in U-girder stage. By comparison with the brittle behavior of U-girder, composite U-girder showed the stable and ductile behavior. After the construction of slab over U-girder, flexural load capacity of composite U-girder can bear the design load in final construction stage with only one time prestressing operation which already carried out in U-girder stage. This simple prestressing method due to the ultra high strength concrete have the advantage in construction step and cost. The shear key which has narrow space has the strong composite connection between ultra high strength concrete U-girder and high strength concrete slab didn't show any slip and opening right before failure load.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual situation of residents' participation in rural development projects, to identify their performance and problems, and suggest ways to develop desirable villages in rural areas. From reviewing relevant pre-studies, this study was done by interview, questionnaire, and observation targeting 140 leaders and residents of exampled village of the project in Jeollanam-do, as well as by listening opinions of relative experts. This study is largely classified into 4 parts, review of character and appearing background of village development project, review of theoretical discussion about residents' participation, evaluation of accomplishments and analysis of participation, and establishing a model for habitants-participating village development project and how to improve it. As a result of questionnaire, it was found urgent for habitants to convert their thinking about village development and their participation in it, to realize a model of this project, as well as political stimulus to promote that. Therefore, measures must be required to improve current village development projects and to promote them. First of all, a preparation period is required to sufficiently provide the village where habitants are willing to participate in, from the state of place selection. Besides, it is required to run away from profit-making businesses aiming at foreign people, to improvement of residents' welfare in a long term, and enhanced resources management in a broad view. Waste of working expenses seems to be solved through direct operation by a corporation in charge of profit-making businesses, under superstition of residents' community. Finally conclusion, expansion and practicalization of education to residents are essential, to promote their participation in rural development projects. Especially it must be practical education for habitants such as 'community-ship' or 'technology education in each interesting part,' rather than tour of other villages and unilateral lectures from experts. Along with this, a long term plan and systematic participation is more essential. Since planning itself can be mutual learning to enhance residents' capacity, a chance must be established to discuss and plan each part including resources-research, by making them participate in.

This thesis deals with the legal principles, case law decisions and suggestions for the Sale & Purchase of ships concerning enactment proposal of maritime law. Recently, the shipbuilding market has shown a major shift towards East Asia, particularly Korea, Japan and China. The major Korean shipyards in particular have engaged in substantial investment programmes both to expand their overall shipbuilding capacity and to enter new markets, such as for liquefied natural gas(LNG) carriers. The Korean Government has recently taken interest in the sale & purchase of used ships, utilizing the Internet and has made plans for building the Shipping Exchange in korea. So this thesis examines the situation of the world's shipping industry and the different kinds of the Sale & Purchase of ships. deals with the legal principles, and case law decisions. describes Forms of Shipbuilding Contracts and Memorandums of Agreement of second-hand ships. And makes suggestions for 1) the Shipbuilding Contracts of the shipowner's Association of Korea and 2) The Korean Shipbrokers' Association's Memorandum of Agreement for Ship Sale & Purchase in the korean shipping industry. Having reached the end of this thesis. the writer suggests to make terms of sale of ships in the korean civil code and commercial code, Additionally. the writer suggests to make a special law in relation to the Sale & Purchase of ships. Furthermore, the writer suggests expanding the Shipping Exchange in Korea.

In the US, the number of cases of subterranean water contamination from tritium leaking through a damaged buried nuclear power plant pipe continues to increase, and the degradation of the buried metal piping is emerging as a major issue. A pipe blocked from corrosion and/or degradation can lead to loss of cooling capacity in safety-related piping resulting in critical issues related to the safety and integrity of nuclear power plant operation. The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes Committee (BPVC) has recently approved Code Case N-755 that describes the requirements for the use of polyethylene (PE) pipe for the construction of Section III, Division 1 Class 3 buried piping systems for service water applications in nuclear power plants. This paper contains tensile and slow crack growth (SCG) test results for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe welds under the environmental conditions of a nuclear power plant. Based on these tests, the fracture surface of the PENT specimen was analyzed, and the fracture mechanisms of each fracture area were determined. Finally, by using 3D finite element analysis, limit loads of HDPE related to premature failure were verified.
Since inaccurate demand estimation for recent urban rail construction may result in financial burden to cities, precise prediction for operating cost as well as construction costs is necessary to avoid or reduce budget loss of the local or central government. The operating cost is directly related to the public fare and affect a policy to determine the rate system. Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop an estimating model for reliable operating cost of urban railway. This study introduces a new model to estimate the operating cost with new variables. It provides a better prediction in accuracy and reliability compared to the existing model, considering the feature of urban railway. For verification of our model, railway operation data from a few cities for the last five years were comprehensively examined to determine variables that affect the operating cost. The operating cost was estimated in a dummy regression model using five independent variables, which were average distance between stations, daily trains distance, total passenger capacity of a train in a train, driving mode(manned/unmanned), and investment type(financial/private).

In developing offshore wind farms, many environmental issues arise because of the concentration on supply demand and economic logic. Accordingly, community conflict is induced. Especially, recent studies regarding the capacity and location of offshore wind development have been conducted considering wind states and ocean conditions, etc. of coastal seas in Republic of Korea. Nevertheless, studies on the impact of marine environments and ecosystems are very limited so far. Environmental monitoring that follows development projects has been actively done in the offshore wind farms in many developed European countries. In contrast, there is no domestic monitoring data regarding environmental impacts caused by installing and operating offshore wind power. Therefore, the environmental impacts under construction and operation phases as well as the guidelines in the stage of environmental impact assessment suited for domestic coastal seas are well presented in this study by analyzing monitoring cases and references of overseas offshore wind farm. For this reason, this research is ultimately aimed at minimizing the environmental impact in offshore wind farm development and thus simplify administrative procedures in Korea.
