Ozone is a strong oxidant and a powerful disinfectant. In general, it has been used in drinking water treatment during last 100years. Ozone dissolution features are defined by the two categories of ozone contactors, bubble-diffuser and sidestream ozone contactor. Currently, sidestream-injection systems are gaining in popularity but operating cost might be slightly higher. Sidestream ozone system dissolve ozone into a sidestream flow via an injection setup or in the main process flow stream in some sidestream arrangements. The sidestream flow is subsequently mixed with the main process flow stream, which is directed to a reation tank or pipeline for oxidation and disinfection reactions. The purpose of this study is to suggest optimal operating pressure, to figure out the static-mixer effect and to understand the microbubble characteristics of ozone to improve dissolution efficiency.
We have constructed loading apparatuses to electrical motor with a powder brake and a oil pump for load test of a several ten kilowatt-motor and performed load test with two motors. On operating the loading apparatus with a oil pump, temperature of the oil may excessively increase and fail to operate due to dynamic energy loss of equipment in oil loop. In order to control the oil temperature, factors of the energy loss were analyzed and the quantitative loss was calculated. Load tests of motors with two loading apparatuses constructed were successfully performed and strengths of each apparatus come out on operating.

An estimation technique called the Extended Kalman filter is used to estimate viscous friction, spring initial contraction, and the spring constant on the swash plate of a variable displacement pump. The feasibility of the approach was established using a simulation study. It showed that these parameters could be estimated very accurately in a reliable and independent fashion. A special experimental system was set up to facilitate the measurement of certain states to enhance the Kalman Filtering approach. The aforementioned parameters were estimated and found to be reasonably repeatable for a common operating point. It was very evident that as the operating conditions changed (i.e. temperature) so did the estimated values of certain parameters such as viscous friction. This was believed to be a good verification test for the approach.
The paper presents extensive survey and review of experimental and analytical researches on fluid film bearings and squeeze film dampers (SFDs) for turbomachinery available in open literature (major archival international journals) published recently (2018 and 2019 only). Over 60 published research works are reviewed based on the research topics and objectives, the types of bearings, size of bearings, and main design parameters with a brief summary of experiments and/or predictions in each work. Some important findings and general observations about the experimental and/or predictive data are also presented. There are several major trends observed throughout the survey. A large portion of the papers focuses on bearing surface textures and effect of operating and assembly conditions on static and/or dynamic forced performances, as well as bearing surface roughness and wear patterns. Researches on geometry of orifices and recesses in hydrostatic (or hybrid) bearings, as well as bearing system stability predictions using thermohydrodynamic analysis and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), are considered as significant topics. Studies on SFDs mainly focus on experimental identification of force coefficients for various SFD geometries and sealing conditions. Reliable experiments of fluid film bearings and SFDs along with the development of experimentally benchmarked predictive tools enable reinforcement of the path for reliable implementations of the bearing components into high performance rotating machinery operating at extreme and harsh conditions. The extensive list of sources of recent experiments in the available open literature is a welcome addition to the analytical community to gauge the accuracy of predictive tools.
Operating performance of industrial gas turbines in combined cycle power plants depends upon atmospheric conditions. Compressor fouling caused by airborne particles in the atmosphere and their adhesions on compressor blades is one of critical phenomena related to the performance degradation of industrial gas turbines. Compressor fouling provokes increase of pressure loss in inlet duct, decrease of mass flow rate of intake air and decrease of compressor stage efficiency. In this study, impacts of compressor fouling on the performance of an industrial gas turbine operating at design point condition are investigated analytically. As results, it is found that the reduction of produced power with decreased mass flow rate of intake air caused by narrowed flow area by the adhesion of airborne particles on compressor blades is the most dominant impact on the gas turbine performance by the compressor fouling phenomena.
An experiment is conducted for measuring the performance of an air tool, which is operated at 100,000 RPM in an unloaded state with very low torque. A 551 kPa in gauge pressure is supply to the inlet of an air tool. An experimental apparatus is developed as a friction type dynamometer. Inlet total pressure, air flow rate, rotational speed and operating force are measured simultaneously. Torque, output power and specific output power are obtained with different rotational speeds. Those are compared with the experimental results which were obtained by a commercial dynamometer. However, no commercial dynamometers are available for measuring the torque above 30,000 RPM. In order to reduce the rotational speed, a reduction gear is applied between the air tool and the commercial dynamometer. Torque and power obtained by the commercial dynamometer show $55\%$ lower than those obtained by the developed friction type dynamometer, because the mass is added to the rotor of air tool for the braking system of the commercial dynamometer and power loss is generated by the reduction gear. From the compared results, the friction type dynamometer should be applied for measuring the performance of the air tool operating at low torque and high RPM.
Separate heat pipe exchanger is considered as the high thermal transportation equipment, because evaporator and condenser are separately positioned in the long distance. Its characteristics are that the working fluid is circulated naturally by the position height of two exchangers. But the operating characteristics are restricted by the temperature of hot and cold fluid, flow pattern and diameter of vapor line, etc. in this study, the vapor pressure and the minimum height of two exchangers are studied about the factors restricting the operating characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to develop a method to predict the performance and economics of a micro gas turbine cogeneration system using performance correction curves. The variables of correction curves are ambient temperature, ambient pressure, relative humidity and load fraction. All of the values of correction factors were expressed as relative values with respect to design values at the ISO conditions. Once the correction curves are obtained, system performance can be predicted relatively easily compared to a detailed performance analysis method through a simple multiplication of the correction factors of various variables at any operating conditions. The predicted results using the correction curve method were compared with those by the detailed and more complex performance analysis in a wide operating range, and its feasibility was confirmed. To illustrate the usability of the correction curve method, the results of an economic analysis of a cogeneration system considering varying operating ambient condition and load was presented.
This paper describes blower performance characteristics of a automated vacuum waste collection system. Blowers serially connected to six or seven centrifugal blowers are evaluated by experimental measurements to understand blower performances according to blower numbers operated. Two different blowers and duct diameters connected to the main blowers are considered. Data acquisition system is introduced to measure pressure and pressure difference at the main duct simultaneously, which is connected to several blowers serially. A auxiliary blower, which is installed between a filter room and an air deodorizing apparatus, is also added to simulate its performance effect on the main blower. Throughout the experimental measurements of the blower system, it is found that pressure and inlet velocity at the upstream of a blower increase 3.7 and 2.4 times separately by increasing the operating blower numbers from one to seven. It is noted that blower efficiency and pressure measured at the system vary according to the distance between a air intake and a blower system. Auxiliary blower is effective to increase blower inlet suction pressure, while total energy consumption is increased relatively.
Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) has been widely used to convert renewable energy such as solar energy, geothermal energy, or waste energy etc., to electric power. For a small scale output power less than 10 kW, turbo-expander is not widely used than positive displacement expander. However, the turbo-expander has merits that it can operate well at off-design points. Usually, the available thermal energy for a small scale ORC is not supplied continuously. So, the mass flowrate should be adjusted in the expander to maintain the cycle. In this study, nozzles was adopted as stator to control the mass flowrate, and radial-type turbine was used as expander. The turbine operated at partial admission. R245fa was adopted as working fluid, and supersonic nozzle was designed to get the supersonic flow at the nozzle exit. When the inlet operating condition of the working fluid was varied corresponding to the fluctuation of the available thermal energy, optimal operating condition was investigated at off-design due to the variation of mass flowrate.
