The significance of proxies for agency costs under different governance approaches

  • This study examines the impact different proxies of agency costs have on companies under different governance approaches. The two specific proxies of agency costs used include: (i) the ratio of operating expenses to annual sales; and (ii) the ratio of annual sales to total assets. Our study is based on earlier works of Ang et al. (2000) and Fleming et al. (2005). A comparison of results for small unlisted companies both in US and Australia indicate that agency cost measures have statistically: (1) different result under rule-based governance mechanisms; and (2) the same results under principle-based governance mechanisms. Our findings support the view that the effectiveness different measures of agency cost is dependent on country specific governance facto as well as on the governance approaches adopted. Our results offer insights to both practitioners and policy makers regarding the usefulness of different proxies of agency costs when companies adopt principle-based corporate governance approaches versus rule-based approaches.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 부산광역시 대표도서관인 부산대표도서관의 조직과 효율적인 운영 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 부산대표도서관은 '부산광역시 차원의 거점 도서관', '정책도서관이자 연구도서관', '부산학 도서관' 등 복합적 성격을 갖는 도서관으로 그 성격을 규정하였으며, 부산대표도서관의 5대 핵심 기능은 도서관정책 수립, 지원협력, 자료보존, 정보서비스, 행정지원이다. 부산대표도서관의 기능과 역할의 원활한 수행을 위해서는 도서관정책과, 지원협력과, 자료보존팀, 정보서비스과, 행정지원과 등의 4과 1팀의 운영 조직이 필요하며, 관장은 3급 또는 개방형 직급으로, 각 과장은 4급 또는 5급으로, 그리고 팀장은 5급 또는 6급의 직급으로 제안하였다. 부산대표도서관의 최소 필요 인력은 기반조성단계에서 행정직 10명, 사서직 31명, 전산직 2명 등 모두 43명의 인력이, 정착단계에서는 각각 12명, 44명, 5명 등의 61명이 필요할 것으로 산출되었으며, 연간 운영 예산은 인건비 1,527,360천원, 자료구입비 735,000천원, 기타 운영비 2,130,000천원 등으로 연간 4,392,360천원의 예산이 필요할 것으로 추정되었다.

의료서비스 복합화의 경영효과 분석 : 일본의 사례 (Managerial Effectiveness of Integrated Delivery System in Japan)

  • This study purports to verify managerial effectiveness of the integrated delivery system(IDS) of Japanese health care institutions through comparing the managerial performance between hospital groups providing with both acute and nursing care and those with acute care only. Data on the managerial performance of 697 hospitals providing with nursing care together and 819 hospitals providing with acute care only were collected from Japanese Central Social Insurance Medical Councils 2001, 2003, 2005, and were analyzed using mean comparison test(t-test) between the two groups. The results revealed that there were significant differences between the two groups in such indicators as ratio of material cost, labor cost, depreciation rate, total margin, operating margin, average number of outpatient per day, average revenue of an inpatient per day, total amount of labor cost, gross revenue per employee, and labor productivity. However, we could not find out any consistent evidence which support the effect of integrated delivery system on the hospital managerial performance. Further discussion was made on the limitation of the study and future research agenda relevant to the topic.

효율적인 직기 관리 시스템의 구현 (Implementing of Efficient Looms Management System)

  • 본 연구에서는 실시간으로 직기를 원격 모니터링하고 또한 과학적인 직기관리를 가능케 하는 직기 관리 시스템을 구현하였다. 구현한 시스템에서는 직기배치도가 사용자 인터페이스 상에 표시되며, 각 직기의 가동상태 및 가동률이 자동으로 거기에 표시된다. 뿐만 아니라 직기들에 대해 마우스로 영역을 선택하여 선택된 직기들에 대해서만 집계 함수를 처리할 수 있는 질의 기능을 갖추고 있으며, 차트, 피벗 테이블 등 고급 집계 질의도 수행 가능하도록 함으로써, 직기 관리를 위한 의사 결정 지원 시스템의 역할을 수행할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안한 시스템은 제직공장의 현장 모니터링 시스템으로서 뿐만 아니라, 현장 직기에 일시적으로 혹은 상존하는 문제점 등을 쉽게 파악하고, 그에 따른 적절한 대응을 가능하게 함으로써, 생산성 향상 및 경비 절감을 위해 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.

공급사슬에서 채찍효과 관리를 위한 분석도구의 개발 : 정량화 모형과 의사결정지원시스템 (Development of Analytical Tools for the Bullwhip Effect Control in Supply Chains : Quantitative Models and Decision Support System)

  • The bullwhip effect is known as the significant factor which causes unnecessary inventory, lost sales or cost increase in supply chains. Therefore, the causes of the bullwhip effect must be examined and removed. In this paper, we develop two analytical tools for the bullwhip effect control in supply chains. First, we develop the quantitative models for computing the bullwhip effect in a three-stage supply chain consisted of a single retailer, a single distributor and a single manufacturer when the fixed-interval replenishment policy is applied at each stage. The quantitative models are developed under the different conditions for the demand forecasting and share of customer demand information. They are validated through the computational experiments. Second, we develop a simulation-based decision support system for the bullwhip effect control in a more diverse dynamic supply chain environment. The system includes a what-if analysis function to examine the effects of varying input parameters such as operating policies and costs on the bullwhip effect.

노후 경유차 조기폐차 지원제도의 재정 효율성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fiscal Efficiency of the Early Scrappage Support System for Aged Diesel Vehicles)

  • 본 연구는 노후 경유차 조기폐차 지원제도의 재정 효율성을 분석하기 위해 노후 경유차 조기폐차에 대한 행정자료를 사용하여 재정투입비용과 대기질 개선편익을 추정하여 B/C 분석을 시도하였다. 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 2020년 이전에는 지원제도의 비용 대비 편익 비율이 1보다 크지만, 2020년 이후로 그 비율이 1보다 작아지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 최근 노후 경유차 조기폐차의 혜택을 확대하기 위한 방향으로 개편되었으나, 대기질 개선 편익의 증가율은 제도 운영 비용의 증가율만큼 빠르지 않은 것으로 판단된다. 대기질 개선편익은 조기폐차로 인해 운행기간이 어느 정도 단축하는지에 의존한다. 이 시기를 더 앞당길수록 조기폐차의 편익이 비용보다 더 클 가능성이 커진다. 본 연구결과를 살펴보면, 폐차 시기를 5년 앞당길 때 표본의 98%에 대한 B/C가 1이 되어 재정 효율성이 크게 확보되는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 정부는 조기폐차 지원제도가 폐차시점에 대한 노후 경유차 차주의 의사결정에 영향을 줄 수 있도록 제도를 개편해나가는 것이 중요할 것이다.

발전량 비교를 통한 창조식 조력발전의 기동낙차 결정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determination of Starting Head by Comparing The Generating Power in Single Action Tidal Power Plant)

  • Because of its predictability of the energy cycle and huge scale power output, the ocean energy from tidal power utilization has always received attention as a great energy source, even though its development cost, including the embankment construction, is so much higher than that of any other energy source. Nevertheless, nowadays many projects are being planned on account of institutional support from the government and the recent advance of construction technology. In Korea, the new industry field operating and managing the tidal power plant has already opened. But we are facing a number of problems for optimal operation of tidal power plant that are a lack of operation experience and a skill of professional management and others. This paper suggests a novel way to determine the starting head of power generation by generating power comparison method For this new method, the paper discusses many factors including changing the volume of the basin, the number of operating turbines and gates and forecasting the tidal amplitude and the characteristic curve of turbine and gate. Finally we verified that it can increase about 2% an annual power generation compared with the conventional method using the original operational function made in the plant design process.

RTiK과 DPC 제어를 통한 윈도우즈 기반의 검사장비에서 MIL-STD-1553B 통신의 실시간 구현 (Implementation for Real-Time of MIL-STD-1553B Communication in Inspection Equipment Based on Windows with RTiK and DPC Control)

  • It is very important to support real-time on the inspection equipment based on Windows. In particular, in the system using MIL-STD-1553B communication, which is widely used in military weapon systems, real-time is required for inspection equipment that uses mostly platforms based on Windows such as Industrial PCs. However, in order to use a complete real-time operating system such as VxWorks, the purchase cost is expensive and the implementation is complicated on the system, so it is not suitable for inspection equipment that requires simple functions to just check go or no-go. Therefore, in this paper, a Real-Time implanted Kernel(RTiK) in the Windows kernel is implanted in order to improve these defects, and real-time performance is implemented for periodically MIL-STD-1553B communication by Deferred Procedure Call(DPC) of Windows. Also, it was verified that the period of up to 2ms was guaranteed with a RDTSC into the EDX:EAX registers for measuring the periodicity.

부산시 수소시내버스 보급 활성화 방안 연구 (Plan to Promote the Supply of Hydrogen City Buses in Busan)

  • There are 2,517 buses on 143 routes in Busan. One company is operating 36 hydrogen city buses (1.4%) and two hydrogen charging stations. By 2030, the number of hydrogen city buses will be increased to 500 and 40 hydrogen charging stations. In the survey of city bus companies, 61.5% of respondents answered 'not reviewing (at all)' and 23.0% of respondents '(actively) reviewing hydrogen buses'. And as for the level of help that hydrogen city buses give to bus companies, 23.5% answered 'helpful'. In order to promote the introduction of hydrogen city buses, first, it is necessary to stipulate support for hydrogen bus purchase cost and hydrogen charging station construction cost in related ordinances so that bus companies do not increase their burden of purchasing hydrogen buses in the future. Second, identify the number of new city buses introduced, convert about 50% to hydrogen city buses by the mid-term, and build 50% of the chargers in public garages with hydrogen chargers. Third, expand hydrogen refueling stations in city bus garages.

On the optimum design of reinforcement systems for old masonry railway tunnels

  • Safety is a most important parameters in underground railway transportation; Also stability of underground tunnel is very important in tunneling engineering. Design of a reliable support system requires an evaluation of both ground demand and support capacity. Iran's traditional railway tunnels are mainly supported with masonry structures or unsupported in high quality rock masses. A decrease in rock mass quality due to changes in groundwater regime creep and fatigue in rock and similar phenomena causes tunnel safety to decrease during time. The case study is an old tunnel in Iran, called "Keshvar"; it is more than 50 years old railway organization. In operating this Tunnel, until the several problems came up based on stability and leaking water. The goal of study is evaluation of the various reinforcement systems for supporting of the tunnel. The optimal selection of the reinforcement system is examined using TOPSIS Fuzzy method in light of the looming and available uncertainties. Several factors such as; the tunnel span, maintenance, drainage, sealing, ventilation, cost and safety were based to choose the method and system of designing. Therefore, by identifying these parameters, an optimal reinforcement system was selected and introduced. Based on optimization system for analysis, it is revealed that the systematic rock bolts and shotcrete protection had a most appropriate result for these kind of tunnel in Iran.
