Estimation of groundwater inflow into underground opening is of critical importance for the design and construction of underground structures. Groundwater inflow into a pilot underground storage facility in China was estimated using analytical equations, numerical modeling and field measurement. The applicability of analytical and numerical methods was examined by comparing the estimated and measured results. Field geological investigation indicated that in local scale the high groundwater inflows are associated with the appearance of open joints, fractured zone or dykes induced by shear and/or tensile tectonic stresses. It was found that 8 groundwater inflow spots with high inflow rates account for about 82% of the total rate for the 9 caverns. On the prediction of the magnitude of groundwater inflow rate, it was found that could both (Finite Element Method) FEM and (Discrete Element Method) DEM perform better than analytical equations, due to the fact that in analytical equations simplified assumptions were adopted. However, on the prediction of the spatial distribution estimation of groundwater inflow, both analytical and numerical methods failed to predict at the present state. Nevertheless, numerical simulations would prevail over analytical methods to predict the distribution if more details in the simulations were taken into consideration.
Paroxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), has been reported to have an effect on several ion channels including human ether-a-go-go-related gene in a SSRI-independent manner. These results suggest that paroxetine may cause side effects on cardiac system. In this study, we investigated the effect of paroxetine on Kv1.5, which is one of cardiac ion channels. The action of paroxetine on the cloned neuronal rat Kv1.5 channels stably expressed in Chinese hamster ovary cells was investigated using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique. Paroxetine reduced Kv1.5 whole-cell currents in a reversible concentration-dependent manner, with an $IC_{50}$ value and a Hill coefficient of $4.11{\mu}M$ and 0.98, respectively. Paroxetine accelerated the decay rate of inactivation of Kv1.5 currents without modifying the kinetics of current activation. The inhibition increased steeply between -30 and 0 mV, which corresponded with the voltage range for channel opening. In the voltage range positive to 0 mV, inhibition displayed a weak voltage dependence, consistent with an electrical distance ${\delta}$ of 0.32. The binding ($k_{+1}$) and unbinding ($k_{-1}$) rate constants for paroxetine-induced block of Kv1.5 were $4.9{\mu}M^{-1}s^{-1}$ and $16.1s^{-1}$, respectively. The theoretical $K_D$ value derived by $k_{-1}/k_{+1}$ yielded $3.3{\mu}M$. Paroxetine slowed the deactivation time course, resulting in a tail crossover phenomenon when the tail currents, recorded in the presence and absence of paroxetine, were superimposed. Inhibition of Kv1.5 by paroxetine was use-dependent. The present results suggest that paroxetine acts on Kv1.5 currents as an open-channel blocker.
The reconstructive modalities for vaginal reconstruction include simple dilatation, skin graft, use of intestinal segments and various methods using flaps. However, skin grafting procedure is the most commonly used technique and the McIndoe procedure is a representative technique among skin grafting procedures. McIndoe procedure is easier, faster and has a lower morbidity compared to other techniques. However the conventional McIndoe procedure has several problems such as incomplete vestibule formation, excessive bleeding during dissection, possibility of recto-vaginal or urethro-vaginal fistula formation, late vaginal contracture and discomfort in wearing hard plastic mold for a long time after operation. To solve these problems, the authors modified the conventional McIndoe procedure in several perspectives. The undeveloped vestibule was incised with X-shaped mucosal incision between the urethral opening and posterior margin of the vestibule and deepened by blunt finger dissection to provide a sufficient diameter & length of the neovagina and to minimize bleeding. A sizable medium thickness split skin graft was harvested and wrapped over a roll gauze-filled condom mold. Applying multiple stab incision on the skin grafted condom mold, it was inserted into the prepared neovaginal canal. Distal margin of the skin graft was secured with tips of the mucosal flaps created by X-shaped vestibular incision to prevent accidental extrusion of the skin grafted mold. During last 15 years, we applied this modification to 20 vaginal agenesis patients and investigated results of the 12 patients who could be followed up serially including hematoma formation and skin graft survival rate, size, depth, presence of late contracture, appearance, comfortness, and hygiene of the neovagina. And they were compared with 8 patients of 20 patients who underwent conventional McIndoe procedures. The modified McIndoe procedure revealed lower complication rate, higher patient satisfaction and better functional results.
Using low pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), we have developed selectively area epitaxy (SAE). Using the developed SAE technology, we have grown AlGaAs/GaAs multi layers and InGaAs/GaAs quantum wire structures on the selectively $SiO_2$ masked GaAs substrates. We have obtained triangular shaped AlGaAs/GaAs and InGaAs/GaAs structures with sharp tips and smooth sidewalls. To rod the optimum conditions, several growth parameters such as growth rate, V/III ratio, growth temperature, and direction of the opening stripes were investigated. The emission peak from quantum wires was observed at 975 nm. With increasing of temperature the emission intensity from side wall quantum wells decreased abruptly. But the intensity from Quantum wires decreased slowly compared to that of side wall quantum wells and it became even stronger from above 50 K.
To overcome disadvantages of conventional two interconnected fluidized beds system, a novel two-interconnected fluidized bed process has been adopted to 3kW chemical-looping combustor. This system has two bubbling beds, solid injection nozzles, solid conveying lines, and downcomers. In this study, effects of operating variables such as gas velocity through the solid injection nozzle, fluidizing velocity, solid height, geometry of solid intake hole, bed temperature on solid circulation rate have been investigated in a 3kW chemical-looping combustor. The solid circulation rate increased as the solid height and the opening area of solid intake holes increased. The effect of the fluidizing velocity and the bed temperature were negligible. Moreover, long-term operation of continuous solid circulation up to 50 hours has been performed to check feasibility of stable operation. The pressure drop profiles in the bubbling beds and the downcomers were maintained steadily and solid circulation was smooth and stable.
The oater level control system of the steam generator in a pressurized water reactor and its control Problems are analysed. In this work a stable control strategy Particularly during low Power operation based on the fuzzy control method is studied. The control strategy employs substitutional information using the bypass valve opening instead of incorrectly measured signal at the low How rate as the fuzzy variable of the flow rate during low power operation, and includes the flexible scale adjusting method for fast response at a large transient. A self-tuning algorithm based on the control performance and the descent method is also suggested for tuning the membership function scale. It gives a practical way to tune the controller under real operation. Simulation was carried out on the Compact Nuclear Simulator set up at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute and its result showed the good performance of the controller and effectiveness of its tuning.
New CCD photometric observations of GX Aur have been made between 2004 and 2015. Our light curves are the first ever compiled and display the variable O'Connell effect. The light variations are satisfactorily modeled by including time-varying cool-spots on the component stars. Our light curve synthesis indicates that the eclipsing pair is an A-type contact binary with parameters of i = 81.1 deg, ${\Delta}T=36K$, q = 0.950 and f = 46%. Including our 25 timing measurements, a total of 83 times of minimum light spanning about 66 yr were used for a period study. It was found that the orbital period of GX Aur has varied due to two periodic oscillations superposed on an upward-opening parabolic variation. The long-term period increase rate is deduced as $+9.636{\times}10^{-10}d\;yr^{-1}$, which can be produced as a mass transfer from the secondary star to the primary at a rate of $3.136{\times}10^{-6}M_{\odot}\;yr^{-1}$, among the largest rates for contact systems. The periods and semi-amplitudes of the two periodic variations are about $P_3=8.7yr$ and $P_4=21.2yr$, and $K_3=0.011d$ and $K_4=0.017d$, respectively. The most reasonable explanation for both cycles is a pair of light-travel-time effects driven by the possible existence of an unseen third and fourth components with projected masses of $M_3=0.91M_{\odot}$ and $M_4=1.09M_{\odot}$ in eccentric orbits of $e_3=0.13$ and $e_4=0.73$. Because no third light was detected in the light curve synthesis, each circumbinary object could be a compact star or a binary itself.
This study have goal with reverse engineering for petrochemistry of high pressure ball valve for localization. Ball valve for development accomplished with flow analysis based on provision of ANSI B16.34, ANSI B16.10, ANSI B16.25 In order to localize the petrochemistry high pressure control valve. Numerical simulation using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamic) in order to predict a mass flow rate and a flow coefficient form flow dynamic point of view. The working fluid assumed the water($H_2O$). The valve inlet and outlet setup a pressure boundary condition. The outlet pressure was fixed by atmospheric pressure and calculated inlet velocity 5m/s. CFD solver used STAR-CCM+ which is commercial code. The result shows change of mass flow rate according to opening and closing angle of valve. Flow decrease observed open valve that equal percentage flow paten which is general inclination of ball valve. The structural analysis used ANSYS which is a commercial code. Stress analysis result of internal pressure in valve showed lower than yield strength. This is expect to need more detail design and verification for stem and seat structure.
The plants of Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. NC2326 were germinated in 10 cm D$\times$20 cm H polyethylene pot, and sand-cultured with Hoagland solution near by the window of laboratory room(26$\pm$5$^{\circ}C$). The growing plants were sprayed with various concentrations of ABA around 9 : 00 a.m. once in every two days for 12 weeks in summer. As the results, frequency of stomatal number, stomatal opening, chlorophyll content, respiration rate, and protein content in the leaves were decreased with the increasing of concentrations of ABA, respectively. The plant growth was inhibited by exogenous ABA, but leaf abscission was not found during the experimental period. The ratio of three to one in chlorophyll a to b was not altered by exogenous ABA. All the stomata were closed within three minutes by 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA and within seven minutes by 1-10 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA after the spraying of ABA, and then reopended after a few hours in 1-10 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA and after 24 hours in 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA. The polar movement of chloroplast within the guard cells was found in the higher concentrations of 10 and 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA, but not found in the lower concentrations than 1 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA. During the night and weak light, it was fond that the inhibition of respiration rate by the higher concentration of ABA was owing to firstly the stomatal closure by the spraying of ABA and secondly the decrease of stomatal frequency by the inhibition of stomatal development with exogenous ABA for the long period of 12 weeks. In the band number of leaf protein by the electrophoresis, most of the protein bands were disappeared by the higher concentration of 100 $\mu\textrm{g}$ ml-1 ABA, but were not altered by the lower concentration of ABA in comparison with control.
In order to develop the storage method of pine agaric by irradiation, pine agarics irradiated with 1,2 and 2.5 kGy were stored in natural low temperature storage room ($15{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, RH: $80{\pm}5%$) and the physicochemical properties were investigated during the 15 days of storage. Veil opening rate of pine agaric was 97% after 7 days storage in control, whereas only 5% in 2-2.5 kGy irradiated groups. Rotting rate after 7 days storage were 28% in control,5-8% in 2-2.5 kGy irradiated groups. In comparison of weight loss, texture and appearance.2-2.5 kGy irradiated groups were better than control. Chemical composition of pine agaric was not remarkably changed by the irradiation and storage period except a slight increase in reducing sugar and a decrease in ascorbic acid by the increase of irradiation dose.
