3중 점용접재의 귤열단 열림각(CTOA)을 이용한 피로균열거동 (Fatigue Crack Behavior of Triple Piece Spot by Crack Tip Opening Angle of Welded Specimen)

  • In this study, internal fatigue crack initiation and propagation behavior were investigated by triple piece spot welded specimen. To estimate fatigue life of the specimen varied with shape and thickness, Crack tip opening angle(CTOA) correlated with stress intensity factor was used as the stiffness parameter. The relation between fatigue life and CTOA can be arranged by the quantitative equation for each specimen by experiment. In addition, the variation of stress distribution was solved and the effect on fatigue crack behavior was examined by finite element method(FEM).

  • An engineering estimation equation for the crack opening displacement(COD) is proposed for a complex cracked pipe, based on the reference stress approach. To define the reference stress, a simple plastic limit load analysis for the complex cracked pipe subjected to combined bending and tension is performed considering the crack closure effect in the compressive-stressed region. Comparison with ten published test data and the results from existing method shows that the present method not only reduces non-conservatism associated with the existing method, but also provides consistent and overall satisfactory results.

  • This paper presents the calculation of opening characteristics for puffer GCB with the equations of the flow field and the motion of the driving mechanism. To obtain the stroke curve, the motion equation is solved simultaneously with the Euler equations. For a given Piston location, the flow field is solved. The pressure inside the Puffer chamber is then used to calculate the moving velocity and the new position of the piston. The FVFLIC method is employed to solve the axisymmetric Euler equations and the motion equation is solved by the Runge-Kutta method. The method is applied to the puffer GCB model and the stroke curve and the pressure rise in puffer chamber under no load condition are compared with the measured ones.

  • 열간압연된 형강은 수직재나 휨재 등으로 사용할 때 파이프나 덕트 등의 설비에 필요한 공간을 확보하기 위해 웨브에 개구부를 두기도 한다. 개구부를 갖는 형강의 웨브는 면내력을 받는 사각형 평판으로 고려하여 좌굴하중을 구하였다. 재하변은 단순지지로 하고 재하변은 직각인 변은 탄성지지단으로 보고 해석하였으며, 국부좌굴에 대한 보강을 위해 개구부 주위(하중 방향과 평행한 두변)에 보강재를 두어 단면 손실에 대한 좌굴하중의 감소를 보강하였다. 본 연구에서는 평판에 대한 고전적인 이론해와 유한요소에 의한 해석해를 비교하여, 해석에 대한 해의 정확성을 검증한 후 개구부의 크기, 보강재의 크기와 탄성지지단의 비틀림 상수의 변화에 대한 효과를 알아보았다. 그 결과 이론해와 해석해의 오차는 0.31%로 상당히 정밀한 해석해를 얻었으며, 비틀림 상수의 크기와 보강재의 크기에 따라 유공 보강판의 효과적인 개구부 크기를 결정하였다.

LTPP Data를 이용한 확률론적 줄눈폭 예측 모델 개발 (Development of a Probabilistic Joint Opening Model using the LTPP Data)

  • 줄눈 콘크리트포장의 줄눈폭의 크기는 인접한 슬래브의 온습도 변화에 따른 체적변형에 기인하여 발생하고 인접 슬래브 간 하중 전달율에 영향을 미치며 줄눈채움재의 설계를 위한 중요한 인자이다. 슬래브의 온도가 하강하거나 습도가 감소하면 줄눈폭은 증가며 일반적으로 최대 줄눈폭은 AASHTO Guide에서 제안된 식을 사용하여 예측하고 있다. 동일한 포장 구역 내에서도 각각의 줄눈별로 발생되는 줄눈폭의 크기가 상당한 차이를 보이고 있는 반면, AASHTO 줄눈폭 예측식은 동일 포장 구역 내에서는 각 줄눈들에서 동일한 줄눈폭이 발생한다는 가정을 갖고 개발되었다. 이러한 가정은 AASHTO 줄눈폭 예측식이 임의 포장구역 내에서의 줄눈폭의 평균값에 대한 예측만을 가능하게 하여 상당부분의 줄눈에 대해서는 과소평가를 초래한다는 단점을 갖게 한다. 이로인해 최대 줄눈폭이 과소평가된 줄눈에서는 줄눈채움재가 조기파손하고, 하중 전달율이 불량하여 단차가 발생할 소지가 높고, 수분의 하부침투 및 세골제등이 줄눈폭 사이에 침입하여 스폴링을 유발할 가능성이 높아진다. 이러한 파손들은 포장 설계시 고려되지 않기 때문에 계획된 포장 수명이 도달하기 전에 포장공용성이 저하되게 한다는 문제점이 있다. 본 연구에선 다양한 줄눈콘크리트포장의 줄눈폭 모니터링 데이터를 포함하고 있는 LTPP SMP Data를 이용하여 임의 포장 내에서의 최대 줄눈폭의 크기가 어떤 분포양상을 나타내는지 고찰하고 줄눈폭이 과소평가되는 비율을 포장설계자가 선택할 수 있도록 하는 확률론적 줄눈폭 예측 모델을 개발하였다.

Experimental study of masonry infill reinforced concrete frames with and without corner openings

  • Reinforced concrete frame buildings with masonry infill walls are one of the most popular structural systems in the world. In most cases, the effects of masonry infill walls are not considered in structural models. The results of earthquakes show that infill walls have a significant effect on the seismic response of buildings. In some cases, the buildings collapsed as a result of the formation of a soft story. This study developed a simple method, called corner opening, by replacing the corner of infill walls with a very flexible material to enhance the structural behavior of walls. To evaluate the proposed method a series of experiments were conducted on masonry infill wall and reinforced concrete frames with and without corner openings. Two 1:4 scale masonry infill walls with and without corner openings were tested under diagonal tension or shear strength and two RC frames with full infill walls and with corner opening infill walls were tested under monotonic horizontal loading up to a drift level of 2.5%. The experimental results revealed that the proposed method reduced the strength of infill wall specimens but considerably enhanced the ductility of infill wall specimens in the diagonal tension test. Moreover, the corner opening in infill walls prevented the slid shear failure of the infill wall in RC frames with infill walls.

Fracture Characteristics of Concrete at Early Ages

  • The objective of this study is to examine fracture characteristics of concrete at early ages, i.g. critical stress intensity factor, critical crack-tip opening displacement, fracture energy, and bilinear softening curve based on the concepts of effective-elastic crack model and cohesive crack model. A wedge splitting test for Mode I was performed on cubic wedge specimens with a notch at the edge. By experimenting with various strengths and ages, load-crack mouth opening curves were obtained, and the results were analyzed by linear elastic fracture mechanics and FEM(finite element method). The results from the test and analysis showed that critical stress intensity factor and facture energy increased while critical crack-tip opening displacement decreased with concrete aging from 1 day to 28 days. Four parameters of bilinear softening curve from 1 day to 28 days were obtained from a numerical analysis. The obtained fracture parameters and bilinear softening curves at early ages from this study are to be used as a fracture criterion and an input data for the finite element analysis of concrete at early ages.

Shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams with rectangular web openings by FRP Composites

  • This study presents the experimental results of twenty three reinforced concrete beams with rectangular web openings externally strengthened with Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) composites bonded around openings. All tested beams had the same geometry and reinforcement details. At openings locations, the stirrups intercepted the openings were cut during fabrication of reinforcement cage to simulate the condition of inclusion of an opening in an existing beam. Several design parameters are considered including the opening dimensions and location in the shear zone, the wrapping configurations, and the amount and the type of the FRP composites in the vicinity of the openings. The wrapping configurations of FRP included: sheets, strips, U-shape strips, and U-shape strips with bundles of FRP strands placed at the top and sides of the beam forming a fan under the strips to achieve closed wrapping. The effect of these parameters on the failure modes, the ultimate load, and the beam stiffness were investigated. The shear contribution of FRP on the shear capacity of tested beams with web openings was estimated according to ACI Committee 440-08, Canadian Standards S6-06, and Khalifa et al. model and examined against the test results. A modification factor to account for the dimensions of opening chords was applied to the predicted gain in the shear capacity according to ACI 440-08 and CSA S6-06 for bonded Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) around openings. The analytical results after incorporating the modification factor into the codes guidelines showed good agreement with the test results.

조기교통개방 콘크리트의 내구성능 향상에 관한 연구 (Enhanced Durability Performance of High Early Strength Concrete for Early Traffic Opening)

  • 콘크리트포장 보수공사에서 조기교통개방을 위해 현재 국내에서는 초속경시멘트를 사용하고 있으나 이는 초기의 빠른 수화반응과 내.외부적 구속으로 인한 온도수축 및 건조수축이 발생하여 콘크리트포장에 인장응력을 유발한다. 구속으로 인한 수축은 콘크리트내에 균열을 발생시켜 투수성을 증가시키고 장기적으로는 내구성을 약화시킨다. 콘크리트보강재료로서 섬유는 이러한 균열을 제어하는데 효과적이다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 사용되고 있는 3종류의 초속경시멘트의 내구성을 평가하였고 내구성을 증진시키기 위하여 콘크리트 보강 섬유를 혼입하였으며 일반 콘크리트와 섬유보강 콘크리트를 비교.분석하였다. 실험결과 조기교통개방콘크리트에서 섬유의 혼입은 일반 콘크리트보다 내구성을 증진시키는데 우수한 효과를 나타내었다.

  • In this study, the fatigue characteristic of spot weld specimen was studied by using the various specimen. The specimen types were tensile shear specimen welded one spot and two spot, and cross tension. The tensile tests and fatigue tests were executed to know the mechanical properties under static and fatigue load condition. In addition, the relationship was illustrated by finite element method.
