Three highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum cvs. Bluecrop, Coville, and Northland) grown in an open field and in a rain shelter were compared to evaluate the potential benefits of rain-sheltering systems on growth and fruit quality. Shrubs grown in rain shelter flowered 5-14 days earlier and were in full bloom earlier than those in the open field. All three cultivars set fruit by nearly 90% of flowers when they were grown in the open field, but was markedly reduced when they were grown in the rain shelter, to approximately 50% for 'Bluecrop' and 'Coville'. Fruit sets ratio of 'Northland' grown in the in the rain shelter was 14.5. Fruit from greenhouse-grown 'Northland' were larger, heavier, and had more seeds per berry. Soluble sugar content (SSC) of fruits varied both with the cultivars and growing conditions. SSC of fruits grown in the greenhouse was higher in 'Bluecrop' compared to that grown in the field, but this pattern was reversed in 'Northland'. Titratable acid was significantly higher in fruits from rain shelter-grown shrubs of both 'Bluecrop' and 'Northland' than in fruits from open field-grown shrubs (P < 0.05), although there was no difference in TA with respect to growing conditions for 'Coville'. The number of seed per fruit, fruit length and diameter, weight, SSC, and TA were similar in 'Coville' shrubs grown in the open field and the rain shelter. Fruit firmness of 'Bluecrop', 'Coville', and 'Northland' was higher in the rain shelter than in the open field. 'Coville' and 'Northland' fruits harvested in the open field had higher blue chroma than those harvested in the rain shelter. However, this pattern was reversed for 'Bluecrop'. On the whole, sheltering from rain affected most fruit characteristics of the three cultivars differently. Therefore, suitable blueberry cultivars for the rain shelter should be chosen by purpose.
A comparative analysis was performed on the soil chemical properties of greenhouse or open field where flower crops were grown from 2018 to 2020. The pH of greenhouse soils was kept slightly higher than the optimum range suggested by Rural Development Administration and that of open field soils was maintained within the optimum range for three years. The contents of organic matter (OM) were within the optimum range without significant change every year in both soils. Available phosphate (Av. P2O5) of greenhouse soils was the highest at 560 mg/kg in 2018, but it decreased every year and fell within the appropriate range in 2020. The concentration of Av. P2O5 in open field soils have fluctuated for three years, not showing a significant difference. Electrical conductivity (EC) of greenhouse soils was higher every year than the standard, 2.0 dS/m, but EC of open field soils remained below the standard. The contents of exchangeable cations were higher than the standard, showing significant differences among the years in greenhouse soils. In open field soils, other cations except exchangeable K+ were maintained higher than the optimal level and only Ca2+ showed a significant difference among the years. In Pearson correlation matrices, the value of exchangeable Ca2+ had a significantly positive correlation with exchangeable Mg2+ content at both greenhouse and open field soils. Based on principal component analysis, the soils of greenhouse were distributed within the range of high concentrations of Av. P2O5, EC and exchangeable cations, while the soils of open field were characterized by low contents of OM and exchangeable cations. Therefore, it is essential to lower the concentration of exchangeable cations in greenhouse soils. It is common for the soils of open field to have a low OM content, so that organic fertilizers should be more actively applied to the soils in open field.

To solve the problems of the traditional scholarly communication system, global interest in the open access paradigm continues. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of research to understand global research and growth trends in the field of open access through data-based quantitative methods. This study aims to identify which sub-fields exist in open access and analyze how long each research field will grow in the future. To this end, topic modeling and growth curve analysis were applied to global academic papers in the field of open access. This study identified 14 research topics related to open access, open data, and open collaboration, which are three key elements of open science, and foresaw that the field of open access will grow over the next 65 years. The results of this study are expected to support researchers and policymakers in understanding global research trends of open access.

This study examines the possibility of early production of forage rape (cv. Akela and Velox) in the period of wintering. Bolting date was Feb. 2 to Feb. 9 in PE film house culture by non-heating and Mar. 3 to Mar. 12 in open field culture. And flowering date was Feb. 24 to Mar. 3 in PE film house culture by non-heating, so it was 30~50 days faster than the open field culture of Apr. 17 to Apr. 22. Fresh matter yield was 8, 356~4, 887 kg/10a in PE film house culture by non-heating, so it was 1, 431~1, 603 kg/10a yield increase than in the open field culture of 7, 253~7, 456 kg/10a Dry matter yield was 953~963 kg/10a in PE film house culture by non-heating, so it was 71~284 kg/10a yield increase than in the open field culture of 669~892 kg/10a.
This study was planned to see whether the Panax Ginseng root has any influence upon the emotionality in rats exposed to a novel open-field and induced by a grid shock. Sixty four male albino rats whose body weight ranged from 130 to 180 gm were used. They were divided into four groups, i.e., placebo control group, 5mg/kg Ginseng ext. group, 10mg/kg Ginseng ext. group, and 20mg/kg Ginseng ext. group. Sixteen rats were subjected in each group. Open-field activity was measured in a $2.20m\;{\times}\;2.20m$ open-field that was divided into 15cm squares. Four novel objects and food pellets were put with an equal distance in the open-field. Locomotion was recorded by entering the number of squares traversed for 4 min. and behaviors which were shown at the 10-sec. period were checked by a modified Jarrad and Bunnel's observation procedure. Sensitivity to the grid shock was measured in a compartment of shuttle box. 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 volt ac. 2 sec., electric shock were delivered in each subject by the grid to animal's feet. Flinch, vocalization and jumping responses were rated in each shock level. The results obtained were as follows: 1.) 5mg/kg and 10mg/kg Ginseng ext. groups were tended to increase the ambulation and exploration compared with placebo control. 2.) All Ginseng extract groups were defecated significantly less often than placebo control in the open-field and shock situation. 3.) Thresholds to the electric shock were tended to elevate in all Ginseng groups. 4.) These results suggest that Ginseng extract has a stimulant action in open-field and a tranqulizing action in feared situation.

Due to the advance of scholarly communication, the field of open access has been studied over the last decade. The purpose of this study is to analyze and demonstrate the field of open access via co-word analysis. The data set was collected from Web of Science citation database during the period from January 1998 to July 2012 using the Topic category. A total of 479 journal articles were retrieved and 8,643 noun keywords were extracted from the titles and abstracts. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, network analysis, clustering analysis and multidimensional scaling mapping were used to examine the domain and the sub-domains of open access field. 18 clusters in the network analysis are recognized and 4 clusters are shown in the map of multidimensional scaling. In addition, the centrality analysis in the weighted networks was used to explore the significant keywords in this field. The results of this study are expected to demonstrate and guide the intellectual structure and new approaches of open access field.

Background: Centella asiatica is a well-known medicinal plant having a wound healing effect. In this study, the growth, asiaticoside content, and antioxidant components and activity were investigated in C. asiatica resources under different cultivation and irrigation conditions. Methods and Results: The cultivation and irrigation methods were divided as greenhouse and open field, and sprinkler and sub irrigation. respectively. Growth characteristics were measured in aerial parts of C. asiatica. Asiaticoside content was analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography. Total polyphenol, total flavonoid and 2,2-diphenyl-1picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity were analyzed for antioxidant activities. Growth was higher under greenhouse and sub irrigation than open field and sprinkler conditions. In the leaves, asiaticoside content was 53.45 mg/g (open field) and 34.38 mg/g (sub irrigation), total polyphenol was 41.14 mg/g (open field) and 25.73 mg/g (sub-irrigation), and total flavonoid was 27.26 mg/g (open field) and 23.72 mg/g (sub-irrigation). DPPH radical scavenging activity in the leaves was 85.97 mg·ascorbic acid equivalent (AAE)/g (open field) and 54.83 mg·AAE/g (sub irrigation). Conclusions: Asiaticoside and antioxidant components and activity were not accompanied with high yield, although high growth was observed under greenhouse conditions. Therefore, cultural requirements of C. asiatica should be sufficiently considered to suit each purpose.

This paper analyzes the current status of open access policies, publishing, and archiving in the field of medicine. Journals indexed in SCI are published by open access publishers such as BMC Ltd. and PLoS and then the research articles in those journals are archived in PMC and BMC. Also, funding institutions participate in developing open access as a new scholarly communication model and governments or independent funding institutions outside the country make policies for open access. But scholary communities in Korea do not develop their services in the level of a new scholarly communication model even though they open their journal articles on the homepages. This paper suggests several plans for the open access scholarly communication in the field of medicine in Korea.

This study analyzed the type, subject and open level of research data in the field of library and information science field shared by Figshare, and statistically analyzed the characteristics of data with relatively high recyclability. The results of the analysis showed that datasets and papers were most common data types, and open access and research data were the most common keywords of data, and that 70% of the data were published in a form that can not be processed mechanically such as pdf. As a result of analysis of the relationship between characteristics of research data and degree of sharing, open access areas such as APC (Article Processing Charge) were found to be most common in the subject. However in data type, gray literature such as paper found to be highly utilized rather than dataset.

Hallabong peel oils grown in open field and green house were extracted by hand-pressing flavedo and collected on ice. Volatile flavor components of Hallabong peel oils were identified and compared by using gas chromatography and mass- spectrometry. Forty-four flavor components were identified in open field oil and 45 flavor components in green house oil. (E) -Limonene-1,2-epoxide and neral were identified only in Hallabong oil grown in open field, on the other hand, $\beta$-cubebene, $\beta$-elemene and decyl acetate were detected only in green house oil. Limonene was the most abundant component in both oils as more than 86$\%$ of peak weight, followed by sabinene (1.8$\~$ 3.6$\%$) and myrcene (2.4$\~ $2.6$\%$). The difference of the volatile profile between open field and green house oils were significantly characterized by identification and quantity of alcohol group. The total alcohols in open field and green house oils accounted for 1.8$\%$ and 0.8$\%$, respectively. Among alcohols, the level of linalool was relatively high in open field oil (1.2$\%$), however, it accounted for 0.5$\%$ in green house oil. Flavor properties of fresh Hallabong peel and flesh were also examined by sensory evaluation. Flavor properties of fresh Hallabong grown in open field were relatively stronger on both peel and flesh by sensory analysis. Sweetness was strong in Hallabong flesh from open field, and sourness in that from green house. The sensory evaluation of the preference in consideration of taste and aroma was significantly high in Hallabong grown in open field (p<0.01). From the present study, the stronger flayer properties and the preference of Hallabong from open field by sensory evaluation seem to be associated with the high level of linalool in its peel oil, and the composition of monoterpene hydrocarbons such as sabinene and (E) -$\beta$ -ocimene.
