Design and Implementation of a GML Document Management System (GML 문서 관리 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • 최근 지리 정보 시스템(GIS)이 전 국가적으로 대중화되면서 지리 정보가 다양한 분야와 다양한 서버 환경에서 사용되고 있다. 따라서, 이렇게 다양해진 지리 정보를 효율적으로 사용하기 위해선 지리 정보 시스템의 상호운용성은 필수적이다. 이를 지원하기 위해서 OGC(Open GIS Consortium)에서는 상호운용성에 대한 표준 명세인 OpenGIS(Open Geodata Interoperability Specification)를 제시하였으며, 또한 이를 웹 환경에서 검증하고 활용하기 위해 웹 매핑 테스트 베드에서 여러 가지 시도를 하고 있다 이러한 시도 중 하나로 웹 환경의 이질적인 지리 정보를 공통적으로 표현하기 위해 지리정보를 구조화된 문서인 XML(eXtensible markup Language)로 인코딩하는 GML(Geography Markup Language) 명세를 제시하였다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 환경에서 지리 정보를 표현하기 위한 GML 2.0 명세와 GML 2.0 에서 사용하고 있는 XML 스키마 명세를 분석하였다. 또한, 이를 토대로 사용자들이 GML 2.0 문서를 쉽게 생성, 디스플레이, 편집할 수 있도록 함은 물론 기존의 공간 데이타베이스 시스템의 지리 정보를 GML 2.0 문서로 변환하고, 반대로 GML 2.0 문서를 공간 데이타베이스로의 변환을 쉽게 할 수 있는 GML문서 관리 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.

A Study on Standardization of GIS Interoperability in Local Governments (지자체 GIS 상호운용성 확보를 위한 표준화 연구)

  • The main questions of this study are how to reuse GIS applications and what to do for interoperability of the applications in local governments. To answer the questions, related technologies and standards of GIS are investigated. International standard organizations, such as ISO/TC211 and OGC(OpenGIS Consortium), are working on GIS interoperability standards based on component technology and distributed computing environments. In this study, a standard model for interoperability of GIS applications in local governments is proposed based on the international standards. Standardization process of GIS interfaces in local governments is as followed: 1) modeling of GIS business and 2) establishment of GIS service architectures 3) defining GIS standard interfaces 4) GIS component. In conclusion, by developing interoperable GIS applications based on component technology the reusability in local governments can be realized.

  • 공간정보 및 속성정보를 저장 및 관리하여 서비스하는 지리정보시스템은 최근 네트워크 및 분산환경의 기술개발과 더불어 급격히 변화하고 있다. 이러한 지리 정보시스템은 기존의 패키지, 지역적 클라이언트/서버환경의 기술에서 컴포넌트 기반 기술로 자리메김하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 컴포넌트 GIS의 기술발전을 위해서 OGC(OpenGIS Consortium)에서는 다양한 설계 및 구현 사양과 토픽을 제시하고 있으며, 대부분의 GIS 기술개발시장에서는 이러한 사양과 토픽에 맞게끔 시스템을 설계 및 구현하고 있다. 지리정보시스템에서 다루는 공간데이터는 크게 기하정보(Geometry)와 위상정보(Topology)로 나뉜다. 지리정보시스템에서 기본석인 질의나 분석에 있어서 기하정보 뿐만 아니라 위상정보도 시스템 전체의 성능에 큰 영향을 미치며, 이러한 위상 정보의 저장, 관리는 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 개방형 컴포넌트 GIS에서의 기본 기하 데이터 모델인 OGC Simple Feature Geometry 모델과 위상정보 (Topolygy Information)를 나타내는 위상 데이터 모델의 통합 및 연동방법에 대해서 살펴보고, 이러한 데이터모델을 포함하고 있는, OGC 구현사항에 맞게 설계 및 구현된 전체시스템 아키텍쳐를 살펴 볼 것이다.

  • Using GIS, animal clinic's spatial distribution characteristics were analyzed. Animal clinic location data was collected through the Internet's Open API service. Approximately 4,100 animal clinics are operated in South Korea in 2011. And 47 % of these are located in the Seoul area. Population, especially female population and apartment resident's ratio affects the location factor of the animal clinic. The number of 25~44 year-old woman and animal clinics are high correlation. In the animal clinic location, distance from the road is more important than the distance of the metro.

  • 최근 GIS 포털에 대한 수요자 요구 사항이 증가하고 있고 기존의 웹 GIS 응용 프로그램 개발 기법과의 연계와 통합이 중요한 연구 주제로 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 공개 소스인 PostgreSQL - PostGIS를 이용하여 GIS 포털 구축을 위한 응용 설계 연구를 수행하였다. PostgreSQL를 데이터베이스 시스템으로 하여 공간 질의 및 분석 기능 등 GIS 기능을 연동시키는 PostGIS는 서버 GIS 엔진으로 점점 활용 가치가 증가하고 있으나 GIS 포털에서 이를 적용한 사례는 현재까지 보고된 바가 거의 없다. 본 응용 설계는 전체 시스템 설계 보다는 주로 포털에서의 인터페이스 부분을 주로 다루고자 하며 시험 구현 프로그램의 라이브러리는 PostGIS의 C Language Interface(LIBPQ)와 OGC library를 이용하여 공간 데이터에 대한 기본 기능을 구현하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 구글, 다음, 네이버 등과 같은 일반 검색 엔진에서 경쟁적으로 제공하는 웹 맵핑 수준에서 위성영상정보와 지도정보 서비스가 보다 체계적으로 웹 GIS 기술과 연계될 수 있는 기반을 마련하고자 한다.

Applicability of Geo-spatial Processing Open Sources to Geographic Object-based Image Analysis (GEOBIA)

  • At present, GEOBIA (Geographic Object-based Image Analysis), heir of OBIA (Object-based Image Analysis), is regarded as an important methodology by object-oriented paradigm for remote sensing, dealing with geo-objects related to image segmentation and classification in the different view point of pixel-based processing. This also helps to directly link to GIS applications. Thus, GEOBIA software is on the booming. The main theme of this study is to look into the applicability of geo-spatial processing open source to GEOBIA. However, there is no few fully featured open source for GEOBIA which needs complicated schemes and algorithms, till It was carried out to implement a preliminary system for GEOBIA running an integrated and user-oriented environment. This work was performed by using various open sources such as OTB or PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Some points are different from the widely-used proprietary GEOBIA software. In this system, geo-objects are not file-based ones, but tightly linked with GIS layers in spatial database management system. The mean shift algorithm with parameters associated with spatial similarities or homogeneities is used for image segmentation. For classification process in this work, tree-based model of hierarchical network composing parent and child nodes is implemented by attribute join in the semi-automatic mode, unlike traditional image-based classification. Of course, this integrated GEOBIA system is on the progressing stage, and further works are necessary. It is expected that this approach helps to develop and to extend new applications such as urban mapping or change detection linked to GIS data sets using GEOBIA.

Open Source Remote Sensing of ORFEO Toolbox and Its Connection to Database of PostGIS with NIX File Importing

  • In recent, interests regarding open source software for geo-spatial processing are increasing. Open source remote sensing (OSRS) is regarded as one of the progressing and advanced fields in remote sensing. Nevertheless, analyses or application cases regarding OSRS are not enough for general uses or references. In this study, three kinds of OSRS software in consideration of international popularity, types of functionalities, and development environments are taken into account: OSSIM, Opticks, and ORFEO Toolbox (OTB). First, functional comparison with respect to these is carried out on the level of the preliminary survey. According to this investigation, OTB is chosen as the most applicable OSRS software in this study. Running on OTB, NIX format importing module and database connecting module are implemented for widely general uses and further application. As for an example case, airborne image of NIX format is used to region growing segmentation algorithm in OTB, and then the results are stored and retrieved in PostGIS database to test implemented modules. Conclusively, local customization and algorithm development using OSRS software are necessary to build on-demand applications from the developers' viewpoint.

  • Recently, many WMS(Web Map Services) and POI(Point of Interest) services come to be in service on the Internet using Web GIS(Geographic Information System) as Information Technology and computer H/W are evolved faster in its speed, network bandwidth and features. The Web GIS is, however, limited and constrained on the specification of its system configuration, the service class provided and the presentation methodology of a map. As the mobile Internet becomes popular in mobile service, Web GIS service on mobile environment is strongly required and to be provided by location based WMS(Web Map Service) on a mobile client such as PDA with location information of the user. In this paper, we made an effort to design and implement a GIS computing environment by thin client for mobile web map service. For implementing the thin client GIS computing environment. we were using NGII's(National Geographic Information Institute's) DXF map, representing the map by SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) recommended by OGC(OpenGis Consortium), and adapting standard XML web service to provide the thin client GIS service on PDA by applying the location information of the user in realtime with GPS on mobile environment.

Drainage Control and Prediction of Slope Stability by GIS-based Hydrological Modeling at the Large Scale Open Pit Mine (GIS에 의한 대규모 노천광에서의 배수처리 및 사면안정 예측)

  • This paper presents an application of drainage control and slope stability by GIS-based hydrological modeling to control the surface water from an operational point of view. This study was carried out on a region of Pasir open-pit coal mine, Indonesia. A detailed topographical survey was performed at the study area to generate a reliable DEM (Digital Elevation Model). Hydrology tools implemented in ArcGIS 9.1 were used to extract the characteristics of drainage system such as flow direction, flow accumulation and catchment area from DEM. The results of hydrological modeling and spatial analysis showed that current arrangement of pumping facility is not suitable and some vulnerable places to erosion exist on the bench face due to concentrated surface runoff. Finally, some practical measures were suggested to optimize the design of drainage system and to monitor the slope stability by the surface water management at the study region during heavy rainfall.
