Suggestions for Developing On-Line In-Service English Teacher Training Program

  • The development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has changed the manner in which English teachers are taught as instructors, as well as English language learners. Online-related technology, a product of development of ICT technology, is used for various purposes such as training teachers and enhancing professionalism of current teachers to practice more efficient training. The purpose of this study is to extract common domains and sub-domains related to development of cyber-type in-service training (INSET) through domestic and international case analyses and to develop content areas of INSET using cyberspace or efficient online INSET programs. To accomplish the purpose of this study, domestic and foreign cases were analyzed in relation to direction of development of online English teacher training programs.

  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it seems to have been impossible to run offline training courses. To overcome this situation, online training courses has been emerged. Just moving the educational environment from offline to online instead of re-designing the curriculum, however, is not effective for trainees. To maximize educational effectiveness, it is necessary to re-design the curriculum based on constructivist appoach which gives trainees experience on skills and knowledge about their job. As for re-designing the curriculum into real-time online practical learning based on constructivism, learning satisfaction and work efficacy of trainees may have been increased. From these results, HRD professionals in an IT company should need to consider how to structure the curriculum when they design the real-time online practical learnings.

The Influence of Online Basic Clinical Training on Critical Thinking Disposition, Self Determination Motivation and Learning Satisfaction for Nursing student

  • 본 연구의 목적은 COVID -19 상황에서 온라인 기초임상실습이 간호대학생의 비판적 사고성향, 자기결정성 동기 및 실습만족도에 미치는 효과를 파악하고자 시행되었다. 본 연구는 단일군 사전·사후설계이다. 연구 대상자는 G시에 소재한 간호학과 3학년을 대상으로 온라인 설문지를 이용하여 수집하였고 41명이 최종 참여하였다. 연구결과 비판적 사고성향(t=-2.60, p=.013)과 자기결정성동기(t=-2.84, p=.007)는 통계적으로 유의하게 상승했다. 이 결과는 온라인 기초임상실습이 비판적사고성향, 자기결정성 동기 향상에 효과가 있음을 의미한다. 최근 COVID-19 의료현장에서의 직접간호수행이 어려운 만큼 다양한 온라인 콘텐츠를 활용한다면 온라인 임상실습의 한계를 극복할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Effect of Dental Practicality Index training using an online video on decision-making and confidence level in treatment planning by dental undergraduates

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Dental Practicality Index (DPI) training using an online video on the treatment planning decisions and confidence level of dental undergraduates (DUs). Materials and Methods: Ninety-four DUs were shown 15 clinical case scenarios and asked to decide on treatment plans based on 4 treatment options. The most appropriate treatment plan had been decided by a consensus panel of experienced dentists. DUs then underwent DPI training using an online video. In a post-DPI-training test, DUs were shown the same clinical case scenarios and asked to assign the best treatment option. After 6 weeks, DUs were retested to assess their knowledge retention. In all 3 tests, DUs completed the confidence level scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the related-samples Wilcoxon signed rank test and the independent-samples Mann-Whitney U test with the level of significance set at p < 0.05. Results: DPI training significantly improved the mean scores of the DUs from 7.53 in the pre-DPI-training test to 9.01 in the post-DPI-training test (p < 0.001). After 6 weeks, the mean scores decreased marginally to 8.87 in the retention test (p = 0.563). DPI training increased their confidence level from 5.68 pre-DPI training to 7.09 post-DPI training. Conclusions: Training DUs using DPI with an online video improved their decision-making and confidence level in treatment planning.

Online training and education from the VR-1 reactor-Lessons learned

  • Hands-on education and training is a key part of fixing and developing technology knowledge and is an inherent part of many engineering and scientific curricula. However, access to large complex training facilities, such as nuclear reactor, could be limited by various factors, such as unavailability of those facilities in the region, high traveling costs or harmonization of the schedules of hands-on E&T with theoretical lectures and with the operational schedule of the facility. To handle the issue, several success stories have been reached with the introduction of the Internet Reactor Labs (IRL). The Internet Reactor Labs can strongly contribute to accessibility of training at research reactors and can contribute to improvements in their utilization. The paper describes the development of the Internet Reactor Lab at the VR-1 reactor of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Contrary to single-purpose IRLs, it presents various modalities of online teaching and training in experimental reactor physics and reactor operation in general as well as outreach activities that have been developed in recent years.

Towards a UTAUT Model for Acceptance of MOOCs

  • In many training institutions, the major advancement of Information Technology is having a profound impact on the way in which instructors teach and students learn, as well as how the two interact. The training process is continuing with the goal of enhancing the calibre of instruction and engagement. Top colleges and institutions have more recently developed a variety of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) systems centred on the development of new educational offering ways. These have not only captured the interest of students and scholars in the field of higher education, but also that of staff members in the private and public sectors. This study uses a Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model to assess the top MOOC providers and pinpoint the key elements influencing learner acceptance of MOOCs in Saudi Arabian training. A total of 382 government trainees in Saudi Arabia participated in an online survey, the results of which underwent analysis using structural equation modelling. This study identifies the key elements influencing Saudi government employee trainees' intentions to use MOOCs, with the findings indicating that the suggested model can account for 86.2% of user behaviour and 88.5% of user intentions.

  • Background As the coronavirus disease 2019 virus made its way throughout the world, there was a complete overhaul of our day-to-day personal and professional lives. All aspects of health care were affected including academics. During the pandemic, teaching opportunities for resident training were drastically reduced. Consequently, medical universities in many parts across the globe implemented online learning, in which students are taught remotely and via digital platforms. Given these developments, evaluating the existing mode of teaching via digital platforms as well as incorporation of new models is critical to improve and implement. Methods We reviewed different online learning platforms used to continue regular academic teaching of the plastic surgery residency curriculum. This study compares the four popular Web conferencing platforms used for online learning and evaluated their suitability for providing plastic surgery education. Results In this study with a response rate of 59.9%, we found a 64% agreement rate to online classes being more convenient than normal classroom teaching. Conclusion Zoom was the most user-friendly, with a simple and intuitive interface that was ideal for online instruction. With a better understanding of factors related to online teaching and learning, we will be able to deliver quality education in residency programs in the future.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기존 「근로자직업능력개발법」이 「국민 평생 직업능력 개발법」으로 개정되면서 직업능력개발의 지원대상과 직업능력개발훈련의 범위가 확대됨에 따라, 스마트직업훈련플랫폼(STEP)이 맞춤형 평생직업능력개발을 위해 지향해야 하는 공공 온라인 플랫폼으로서의 역할과 기능을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 국내 공공 온라인 플랫폼 서비스 사례연구, 전문가 FGI 등을 바탕으로 STEP의 공공서비스 역할과 기능을 도출하였고, 이에 대한 전문가 검증회의를 진행하였다. 이를 바탕으로 STEP의 공공 온라인 플랫폼으로서의 역할과 기능에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

  • 본 연구는 대표 직업교육훈련 국가인 미국, 독일, 스위스, 호주, 영국, 싱가포르의 COVID-19 대응방안을 조사하여 우리나라 직업교육훈련 정책 수립을 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 직업교육훈련 선도국 조사로부터 도출된 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째 COVID-19에 대응하기 위해 대면 중심의 직업교육훈련을 온라인 교육으로 신속히 전환하였다. 둘째, 견습제도의 위기를 극복하기 위한 제도를 강화하였는데, 특히 영국과 호주 정부는 견습제도를 위한 특별 예산을 편성하였다. 셋째, COVID-19로 인해 블렌디드 러닝을 새로운 표준 교육모델로 자리 잡으면서 직업교육훈련의 디지털화를 가속화하고 있다. 마지막으로 직업교육훈련 선도국들은 온라인 교육 지원을 위한 에듀테크 산업의 발전을 추진하고 있다. 이는 한국 직업교육훈련의 변화 방향에 대한 중요한 시사점을 제공해 주고 있다.

환경교육에 대한 초등교사들의 요구 (Elementary School Teachers' Needs about the Environmental Education)

  • 이 연구에서는 초등학교에서 환경교육을 효과적으로 실시하기 위한 기초 연구로서 초등학교 교사들의 환경교육에 대한 요구를 조사하였다. 연구 대상은 충청남도 지역의 초등학교 교사 113명이었다. 환경교육 요구 검사의 20문항을 사용하여 5단계 리커트 척도로 교사들에게 제시하였고, 환경교육 연수 영역의 문항에 대해서는 현장 연수와 원격 연수 중 선호하는 방식에 대한 질문도 제시하였다. 대부분의 문항에서 교사들의 요구는 높았으나, 환경교육 수업에 직접 적용될 수 있는 지원 분야나 연수 내용에 대한 문항에서 특히 요구가 높았다. 교사들은 현장 연수보다 원격 연수를 선호하였으나 지역 내 비형식적 환경교육 장소의 사용, 환경교육 현장 학습 장소의 개발과 사용, 환경교육 교수 전략 등의 문항에서는 현장 연수의 선호도가 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.
