  • This study analyzed the shifts that occurred before and after the outbreak of COVID-19 by scrutinizing digital keywords derived from prominent culture media, such as books and instagram. The analysis identified trends rooted in digital terminology. For this study, the period 2017 to 2022 was divided into three-year segments, before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. Subsequently, an analysis was conducted using digital keywords to assess the number of digital-related books and book hashtags, the number of instagram mentions, and relevant keywords. We found that COVID-19 exerted a discernible influence on information related to digital keywords, substantially impacting both the book publishing market and instagram. Notably, digital-related books have been published in a variety of fields since the outbreak, and new fields are emerging. The year 2020 saw the most significant growth in the mentions of digital terms on instagram. Such terms were used in conjunction with terminology related to people working in a digital environment, endeavors aimed at revenue generation in online spaces, leisure activities associated with art and culture, and online service platforms. Through the analysis of digital keywords, this study is expected to contribute to the understanding of digital trends and their future trajectories.

  • Although research on acceptance of information systems provides useful insights in understanding users' behavior, we need to further understand factors that cause long-term or continued use. This article therefore examines the role of users' maximizing tendency (i.e., individual differences in pursuing the best option) in continuance intention of Web sites. By controlling for disconfirmation, ease of use, and product involvement, we empirically investigate the relationships between satisfaction, usefulness, and continuance intention to online bookstore Web sites. As suggested by the information technology continuance model, the effects of satisfaction to and perceived usefulness on continuance intention to Web sites are positive for individuals with low maximizing tendency (i.e., satisficers). Satisfaction and usefulness, however, are not associated with continuance intention for individuals with a high maximizing tendency (i.e., maximizers). The implications for both researchers and practitioners are discussed.

  • Collaborative filtering is one of the most common methods that e-commerce sites and Internet information services use to personalize recommendations. Collaborative filtering has the advantage of being able to use even sparse evaluation data to predict preference scores for new products. To date, however, no in-depth investigation has been conducted on how the data sparsity effect in customers' evaluation data affects collaborative filtering-based recommendation performance. In this study, we analyzed the sparsity effect and used a hybrid method based on customers' evaluations and purchases collected from an online bookstore. Results indicated that recommendation performance decreased monotonically as sparsity increased, and that performance was more sensitive to sparsity in evaluation data rather than in purchase data. Results also indicated that the hybrid use of two different types of data (customers' evaluations and purchases) helped to improve the recommendation performance when evaluation data were highly sparse.

  • Studies of recommender systems have focused on improving their performance in terms of error rates between the actual and predicted preference values. Also, many studies have been conducted to investigate the relationships between customer information processing and the characteristics of recommender systems via surveys and web-based experiments. However, the actual impact of recommendation on product pages for customer browsing behavior and decision-making in the commercial environment has not, to the best of our knowledge, been investigated with actual clickstream data. The principal objective of this research is to assess the effects of product recommendation on customer behavior in e-Commerce, using actual clickstream data. For this purpose, we utilized an online bookstore's clickstream data prior to and after the web site renovation of the store. We compared the recommendation effects on customer behavior with the data. From these comparisons, we determined that the relevant recommendations in product pages have positive relationships with the acquisition of customer attention and elaboration. Additionally, the placing of recommended items in shopping cart is positively related to suggesting the relevant recommendations. However, the frequencies at which the recommended items were purchased did not differ prior to and after the renovation of the site.

This research investigates customer delight, especially focusing on the role of surprise and attribute importance via experiment. Research design, data, and methodology - An experiment consisting of experiment, reference, and control group was performed with virtual online bookstore. For the analysis, one-way ANOVA and post-hoc analysis (LSD) were performed. Results - The experiment group that was delighted with surprise revealed the highest repurchase intention and recommendation intention among the other groups (H1 supported). Then each group was divided into attribute importance high and attribute importance low. For the group that was delighted in important attribute revealed higher repurchase and recommendation intention than the group that was delight in less important attribute (H2 supported). Conclusions - This research contributes academically for investigating the research area of customer delight and focusing on the role of surprise and attribute importance. For practical implications, this research provides information about customer delight and its several moderating variables that it is important to delight customers with surprising experience and focusing on an important attribute that consumers perceive not on a less important attribute.
