Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea and over 30million in Japan in 2005. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering the market, relatively little theory has been developed about which factors influence online gamers' behavioral intentions (i.e., loyalty, satisfaction, words of mouth, etc.) in this area. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationships among the gamers' satisfaction, trust toward game publishers, the role of online game community, social reputation, and the managerial support of game publishers. We also examine the differences between Korean and Japanese gamers concerning the relationships of these key success factors. The structural model is tested with the data from entire data samples (i.e., Korean and Japanese gamers pooled together) and each of the sub-samples (i.e., Korean and Japanese gamers taken separately). Properties of the causal paths, including standardized path coefficients, the significance of difference, and variance explained for Trust and Satisfaction in the hypothesized model, are presented. Following the model test, we conduct a test of the differences in path coefficients between Korean and Japanese gamers. Statistical results show that, compared to Japanese gamers, Korean gamers had a greater salient effect on Social Reputation in determining. Trust, in addition to placing a greater emphasis on Support of Game Publishers in determining Social Reputation. Other interesting results concerning game Publishers' strategy are also presented.
A review of the related literature indicates that consumers' risk perceptions are largely affected by product involvement. This study investigates the impact of product involvement on required trust level and the online merchant choice. We developed a conceptual model that depicts the nomological relationships among product involvement, required trust level, and the online merchant choice, and formulated three hypotheses based on the conceptual model. An empirical study designed to accomplish the research objectives has been conducted using a questionnaire survey with 230 students in a university in Korea. The findings indicated that high-involvement products have higher trust level as required by consumers than low-involvement products, that consumers buying high-involvement products prefer digital storefronts, and that consumers buying low-involvement products prefer B2C e-marketplaces. The paper offers implications for academics as well as practitioners, based on the research results.
As the issue of selling wine online has been raised in an attempt to implement FTA programs in a more effective way, wine will be available online in the near future in Korea. Thus, this study aimed at identifying key factors which will contribute to reduce various kinds of risks perceived by online customers, and investigating the structural relationships between those factors and perceived risks. Site quality of online wine shop(information quality, system quality), trust in online wine shop were selected as key predictors of perceived risks and research model was established using those factors. Data were collected from those who have experienced in using online wine store, and the research model was tested using valid data. Results of testing research hypotheses using data from survey respondents showed that information and system quality exerted an impact on trust in online wine shop. It was proven that information and system quality posited an impact on time risk whereas they was not related to performance and psychological risk. In addition, trust in online wine shop was shown to be related to time risk, performance risk, and psychological risk.
The purpose of this research is to explore the causality of autonomy, competence, and relatedness which are major variables in self-determination theory. This study examines factors affecting intrinsic motivation, which also influences reality, flow, trust, and loyalty. The results firstly indicates that competence and relatedness positively influence reality and autonomy positively influences flow. Secondly, competence significantly influences reality and doesn't significantly influences flow. Thirdly, relatedness significantly influences reality and doesn't significantly influenced flow. Fourthly, reality doesn't significantly influences trust. Fifthly, flow significantly influences trust. Also, above results show that reality influences flow, and reality doesn't directly influence trust and loyalty. However, loyalty significantly influences flow.
Purpose Social networking service (SNS) platforms employ distinct networking strategies to meet the varying needs of their users, resulting in divergent sets of technological functionalities offered by each platform. Consequently, unique features on various SNSs give rise to distinct social issues. Moreover, the available technical coping mechanisms for users vary significantly across platforms. Design/methodology/approach Therefore, this study analyzes the factors affecting technical coping intention based on technical functions of SNSs for users exposed to cybercrime, such as sexual harassment. We divide coping intention into active and passive coping intention. Furthermore, this research focuses on trust as an antecedent of coping intention and verifies how human and system-like trust affects two coping intentions in different directions. Findings Findings reveal that system-like trust significantly affects both active and passive coping intention as a belief in whether the technology will work properly. However, in the case of human-like trust, trust in the platform provider was found to negatively affect passive coping, which is considered unsocialized behavior on SNS platforms. Therefore, both human-like and system-like trust for the platform must be appropriately applied to cope with the problem while activating the platform.
Trust is becoming one of the critical forces that drive consumers into purchases in e-marketplaces, as consumers face uncertainty associated with buying online from unknown sellers. In this paper we propose a consumer trust model specifically designed for an online marketplace. It aims at examining how intermediary and site characteristics of an e-marketplace affect factors of trustworthiness, and understanding the relationship between trustworthiness factors and trust in intermediary. Findings from an empirical analysis indicate that both intermediary and site characteristics are positively associated with factors of trustworthiness - namely, competence, integrity, and benevolence. In addition, all the three factors of trustworthiness were found to have positive relationship with overall trust in intermediary; in particular, integrity had higher association with trust than the other two factors. The paper concludes with suggestions for building consumer trust for the owners of online marketplaces.

Based on the results of the study, implications for future research are drawn.
As customers' participation in B2C e-commerce increases, customers are getting more involved in the delivery of services, which may even go beyond the completion of service transactions. To examine such proactive extra-role online customer behavior, we delve into organizational citizenship behavior framework, which has been recently extended to examine customer citizenship behavior (CCB) in the service market area. Although CCB is vital for online retailing success, MIS and e-commerce research efforts have generally focused on the customer's customer coproduction that are customer in-role behaviors. Moreover, although the effect of information created by anonymous strangers on other customers increase, interpersonal trust research have focused on only the relationship between a seller and a customer. Therefore, this study attempts to answer two research questions: What are motivational factors that affect CCB? How differently do the two kinds of interpersonal trusts (trust in online retailer and trust in customers) influence customers?
