A coupled damage-viscoplasticity model is presented for the analysis of localisation and size effects. On one hand, viscosity helps to avoid mesh sensitivity because of the introduction of a length scale in the model and, on the other hand, enables to represent size effects. Size effects were analysed by means of three-point bending tests. Correlation between the fracture energy parameter measured experimentally and the density fracture energy modelling parameter is discussed. It has been shown that the dependence of nominal strength and fracture energy on size is determined by the ligament length in comparison with the width of the fracture process zone.

The International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code which was developed as the main response of the shipping sector to the miserable event of 11 September 2001 came into effect on 1 July 2004. The ISPS Code designed to detect and eliminate security threats affecting ships and port facilities used in international trade will significantly impact not only on the management and operation of the shipping industry but also on maritime law despite the fact that it is the regulatory framework of public law. It is expected that implementing the ISPS Code will contribute to reinforcement of maritime security on the one hand. However, on the other hand, more intensified security inspection and control measures of port states will also cause delay and additional costs which cause uncertainty in allocating security risk and cost between the contracting parties. Therefore, it is desire to insert new security clause dealing with main security issues or adapt existing clauses to new shipping environments to minimize disputes.

As the economic society develops very exceedingly, the gap of production and consumption elarges gradually. So the current function to connect them and the function to communicate are needed. I think the advertisement take the charge of this role. This advertisement is so essential to today's economic society that its power influences variably both the economic society and the consumers. The enterprisers, advertising owners stick to the maximization of profits and neglect the principle of true advertisements. They but tise not the information for the consumers to choose reasonably but the false, exaggerating advertisement and unfair manifestation very frequently, which is the main trouble in the current problems of consumption. Therefore, on the one hand, in this study from protecting the consumers not to be involved in the false, exaggerating advertisements, the establishment of advertising ethics as advertising owner's self-control is discussed. On the other hand, the legal control regulation in Korea, involving Japan and U.S.A. are analyzed. The cases of false, exaggerating advertisements and unfair manifestation in Korea are also demonstrated. Finally, the proposals to improve the advertisements are made from the Point of government, enterprisers, and consumers.

Methods for measuring the physical workload of construction workers are classified into posture assessment techniques (i.e., OWAS, RULA, etc.) and physiological measurement techniques (i.e., EMG, heart rate, etc.). The one does not quantify the workload on a specific body part of a worker by considering the weight of the hand tools or materials on hand and time for holding a particular posture. This paper presents a procedure for evaluating a physical demand using the electromyography (EMG) sensor. This study compares the EMG measurement and the posture assessment. The case study is carried out on a masonry operation.

It is recognized not only by the health experts but also by the public that venereal diseases are remarkably increasing in these days. Therefore, every available measure for declining of the diseases are planned and implemented through case-finding, diagnosis, treatment, education and research. The author intended to compare and analyse infection rates of venereal diseases between reporting from the Ministry of Health and author's private V.D. clinic during 1961-1971. The following results are obtained through the study: 1. According to the report of the Ministry of Health, 45.0% of total examinees were sick with gonorrhea and 6.5% with syphilis, in one hand, on the other hand 78.7% with gonorrhea and 16.3% with syphilis at the author's clinic. 2. By both the report of the ministry and author, highest infection rates were found in 1966-1968, and this fact was considered by the higher infection rate of G.I. in same years. 3. Contrarily, the lowest infection rates were found out in 1970-1971 through both reports.

In the field of nuclear power construction, management and the systematic construction is very necessary. For more efficiently managing, analysis of influence factors and productivity is indispensable now. On this research, we collected the data from the nuclear power plant which is located in Korea. We analyzed the productivity and influence factors. As a result, productivity was 0.75(㎡/man·hour).On one hand, the productivity should be personnel, weather and whether there is a night duty or not. On the other hand, work crew depends upon operators, formwork amount, the presence or absence of night duty.

The Eurocode 4 presents some negative aspects in the design of composite slabs by the m-k Method or the Partial Connection Method. On one hand, the component chemical adherence is not accounted for in the connection between the profiled steel sheet and the concrete. On the other hand, the application of these methods requires some fitting parameters that must be determined by full scale tests. In this paper, the Eurocode 4 methods are compared with a method developed at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, based on pullout tests, which can be a valid alternative. Hence, in order to calculate the necessary parameters for the three methods, several tests have been performed such as the full scale test described in Eurocode 4 and pull-out tests. This last type of tests is of small dimensions and implicates lower costs. Finally, a full-scale test of a steel-concrete composite slab with a generic loading is presented, with the goal of verifying the analytical formulation.

This paper proposes a dry-type surface myoelectric sensor for the myoelectric hand prosthesis. The designed surface myoelectric sensor is composed of skin interface and processing circuits. The skin interface has one reference and two input electrodes, and the reference electrode is located in the center of two input electrodes. Considering the conduction velocity and the median frequency of the myoelectric signal, the inter-electrode distance (IED) between two input electrodes as 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm is selected. The signal processing circuit consists of a differential amplifier with a band pass filter, a band rejection filter for rejecting 60㎐ power-line noise, amplifier, and a level circuit. Using SUS440, six prototype skin interface with different reference electrode shape and IED is fabricated, and their output characteristics are evaluated by output signal obtained from the forearm of a healthy subject. The experimental results show that the skin interface with parallel bar shape and the 18mm IED has a good output characteristics. The fabricated dry-type surface myoelectric sensor is evaluated for the upper-limb amputee.

Depth between the robot and the target is an essential information in the robot control. However, in case of eye-in-hand robot with one camera, it is not easy to get an accurate depth information in real-time. In this paper, the techniques of depth-from-motion and depth-from-focus are combined to accomplish the real-time requirement. Integration of the two approaches are accomplished by appropriate use of confidence factors which are evaluated by fuzzy rules. Also a fuzzy logic based calibration technique is proposed.

The “Changzu”(footbinding)was an old chinese traditional custom practiced during more the thousand years and was applied to only woman. It prevents young girl’s foot from growing when she is 3 to 8 years old by big toe and forcing her to were the lotus shoe called LIANXIE. In china, the feet and shoe had special symbolic meaning other than usual simple of supporting body and protecting the foot, they are symoblic aspects of implication interal new meaning. In this study was investigate the internal meaning symbolized by Changzu from various perspectives such as religious, aesthetic, and group unconsicous aspects. In conclusion, the Changzu is a symbol that representing a dilemma which on one hand women would like to attract man physically while on other hand woman should be chaste and modest morally. And aiso it is group image representing groups unconsicous desire to preserving the artificial identity bestowed upon Chines woman by Chines man.
