Construction industry is one of the largest markets for composite materials. Composite materials are mostly utilized as surface coatings or concrete reinforcements, and they can hardly be found as a load bearing member in buildings. The three-dimensional composite structures with considerable bending, compressive and shear strengths are capable to be used as construction load bearing members. However, these composites cannot compete with other materials due to higher manufacturing costs. If the cost issue is resolved or their excellent performance is taken into consideration to overcome disadvantages related to economic-competitive challenges, these 3D composites can significantly reduce the construction time and result in lighter and safer buildings. Sandwich composite panels reinforced with 3D woven glass fabrics are amongst composites with highest bending strength. The current study investigates the possibility of utilizing these composite materials to construct ceilings and their application as slabs. One-to-one scale experimental loading of these composite panels shows a remarkable bending strength. Simulation results using ABAQUS software, also indicate that theoretical predictions of bending behavior of these panels are in good agreement with the observed experimental results.
Solid freeform fabrication (SFF) technology plays a major role in industry and represents a reasonable percentage of industrial rapid prototyping/tooling/manufacturing (RP/RT/RM) development applications. However, SFF technology still has long way to progress to achieve satisfactory process speed, surface finish and overall quality improvement of its application. Today, three dimensional printing (3DP) technique that is one of SFF technology is receiving many interests, and is applied by various fields. It can fabricate three dimensional objects of solid freeform with high speed and low cost using ink jet printing technology. However, need long curing time after manufacture completion. And it must do post-processing process necessarily to heighten strength of objects because strength of fabricated objects is very weak. Therefore, in this study, we proposed an improved 3DP process that can solve problems of conventional 3DP process. The general 3DP process is method to spout binder simply through printer head on powder, but proposed process is method to cure jetted UV resin by UV lamp after jet UV resin using printhead on powder. The hardening of resin is achieved strongly at early time by UV lamp in proposed method. So, the proposed process can fabricate three dimensional objects with high speed without any post-processing.
A review on the design analysis of an axial-flow turbine is presented. Followed by a brief introduction to the fundamentals on an axial-flow turbine, a design procedure is described with a sample design of one for a small turbo-jet engine. Design procedure is composed of two parts: one-dimensional analysis of three-dimensional effects based on radial equilibrium theory. The method described herein is so simple and rapid that it can be applied to the preliminary design analysis of turbo-machinery equipped with axial-flow turbines.
This work was focused on the synthesis and their catalytic performance on microporous materials having various pore types and dimensions in structures, such as the SAPO-34 and the SAPO-44 with CHA type, the SAPO-17 with ERI type of three dimensional structures, and the ZSM-23 with MTT type of one dimensional structure. Synthesized materials exhibited various acidities and the selectivities to olefin in methanol conversion. As a result, the order of their acid strength was as follows; SAPO-44>SAPO-34>SAPO-17>ZSM-5. On the other hand, the CHA type materials, such as SAPO-34 and SAPO-44, had high selectivity to light olefins(ethylene or propylene), and ZSM-23 with MTT typ of one dimensional structure showed high selectivity to paraffins over $\textrm{C}_{5}$~. This result is a proof that the structure in material had strong influence on catalytic performance. In addition, a surprising result is that the catalytic selectivity to ethylene enhanced on Ni-corporated materials compared with the non-corporated.
Disinfection of dental impressions are necessary due to contamination with patient’s saliva and blood, which is a potential for cross-infection. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of disinfection of four hydrophilic rubber impression materials with three disinfecting solutions, on the dimensional stability and surface hardness of improved stone casts. Three hydrophilic vinyl polysiloxane impression materials(Express, Reprosil, Exafine) and one polyether impression material(Impregum-F) were mixed according to the manufacturer’s directions and impressions were made on a ADA specification No. 19 stainless-steeldie. On removal of the impressions, each impression was immersed in one of the disinfectants(Banicide, Potadine, Clorox) for 10 minutes. After disinfection, type IV improved stone. casts were poured. On this cast, the linear dimension and surface hardness were measuredusing a Measurescope(Nikon, Japan) and a Barcol hardness tester(Barber, Colman Co U. S. A). The results were as follows : 1. The improved stone casts from disinfected Reprosil and Impregum-F impression material did not show dimensional changes(P>0.01). Those from disinfected Express and Exafine impression material showed dimensional changes(P<0.01). The amount of shrinkage was not clinically significant. 2. The improved stone casts from disinfected Express impression material did not exhibit changes in surface hardness(P>0.01), but those from disinfected Reprosil, Exafine, Imp regnum-F impression material showed changes in surface hardness(P<0.01). 3. The dimensinal stability and surface hardness of the improved stone casts were satisfactory using Banicide on Express, all disinfectants used in this study on Reprosil, Potadin and Clorox on Exafine, Banicide and Clorox on Impregum-F. According to these results, immersion disinfection of hydrophilic rubber impression mate rials did not adversely affect the resultant casts. Nevertheless compatibility tests of impression materials and disinfectants should be done when disinfecting impressions.

This paper describes a fuzzy-based system for analyzing the stress intensity factors (SIFs) of three-dimensional (3D) cracks. 3D finite element method(FEM) was used to obtain the SIF for subsurface cracks and surface cracks existing in inhomogeneous materials. A geometry model, i.e. a solid containing one or several 3D cracks is defined. Several distributions of local node density are chosen, and then automatically superposed on one another over the geometry model by using the fuzzy theory. Nodes are generated by the bucketing method, and ten-noded quadratic tetrahedral solid elements are generated by the Delaunay triangulation techniques. The singular elements such that the mid-point nodes near crack front are shifted at the quarter-points, and these are automatically placed along the 3D crack front. The complete FE model is generated, and a stress analysis is performed. The SIFs are calculated using the displacement extrapolation method. The results were compared with those surface cracks in homogeneous materials. Also, this system is applied to analyze cladding effect of surface cracks in inhomogeneous materials.
In this paper, the scattering of harmonic elastic anti-plane shear waves by two collinear cracks in functionally graded materials is investigated by means of nonlocal theory. The traditional concepts of the non-local theory are extended to solve the fracture problem of functionally graded materials. To overcome the mathematical difficulties, a one-dimensional non-local kernel is used instead of a two-dimensional one for the anti-plane dynamic problem to obtain the stress field near the crack tips. To make the analysis tractable, it is assumed that the shear modulus and the material density vary exponentially with coordinate vertical to the crack. By use of the Fourier transform, the problem can be solved with the help of a pair of triple integral equations, in which the unknown variable is the displacement on the crack surfaces. To solve the triple integral equations, the displacement on the crack surfaces is expanded in a series of Jacobi polynomials. Unlike the classical elasticity solutions, it is found that no stress singularities are present at crack tips.
Statement of problem. One of the common problems of provisional crown and fixed partial denture materials is that when they are subjected to constant loads for a long period of time, they exhibit a dimensional change (creep). Purpose. The aim of this study was to investigate the viscoelastic behaviour of polymer-based provisional crown and fixed partial denture materials with time at constant compressive load. Material and methods. Three dimethacrylate-based materials (Protemp 3 Garant, Temphase, Luxatemp) and one monomethacrylate-based material (Trim) were selected. Dimensional changes of the specimens were recorded by a LVDT to evaluate their viscoelastic behavior and creep strain. For all specimens, two loading procedures were used. At first, static compressive stress of 4 MPa was applied for 30 minutes and followed by 1 hour of strain recovery. Then, after 24 hours of water storage, the specimens were loaded again. The creep values between materials were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and multiple comparison $Scheff\acute{e}$ test. Independent samples t-test was also used to identify the difference of creep strain between first and secondary loading conditions at the significance level of 0.05. Results. Following application of the first loading, Trim showed the highest maximum creep strain (32.7%) followed by Luxatemp, Protemp 3 Garant and Temphase, with values of 3.78%, 2.86% and 1.77%, respectively. Trim was significantly different from other materials (P<0.05), while there were no significant differences among Luxatemp, Protemp 3 Garant and Temphase (P>0.05). The highest recovery and permanent set of Trim, were significantly different from those of others (P<0.05). At the secondary loading of the dimethacrylate-based materials, creep deformation, recovery and permanent set decreased and the percentage of recovery increased, while in Trim, all values of the measurements increased. This result showed that the secondary loading at 24 hours produced a significant creep magnitude. Conclusion. The dimethacrylate-based provisional crown and fixed partial denture materials showed significantly higher creep resistance and lower deformation than the monomethacrylate-based material. Thus, monomethacrylate-based materials should not be used in long-term stress-bearing situations.
Two-dimensional computer simulations were conducted on percolation structure in which second phases of various aspect ratios were arranged in a lattice (matrix). The second phases were randomly arranged in an array with two different computational programs; one prohibiting an overlap among second phases and the other allowing the overlap. From the simulation prohibiting the overlap, it was predicted that a complete path was formed at less amounts of the second phase with higher aspect ratios. In the simulation allowing the overlap, a complete path throughout the array was formed by arranging the second phase of an aspect ratio of 1. 5, 20, 100 with less than 59%, 43%, 19%, 4% in the array, respectively.

Electrospinning has known to be very effective tool for production of versatile one-dimensional (1D) nanostructured materials such as nanofibers, nanorod, and nanotubes and for easily assembly to two-, three-dimensional(2D, 3D) nanostructures such as thin film, membrane, and nonwoven web, etc. We have studied on the electrospinning technology for novel energy storage and conversion materials such as advanced separator, dye sensitized solar cell, supercapacitor, etc. High heat-resistive nanofibrous membrane as a new separator for future lithium ion polymer battery was prepared by electrospinning of PVdF based composite solution. The novel nanofibrous composite nonwovens have tensile strength of above 50 MPa and modulus of above 1.3 GPa. The internal structure of the electrospun composite nanofiber with a diameter of few hundreds nanometer were composed of core-shell nanostructure. And also electrospun $TiO_2$ nanorod/nanosphere based dye-sensitized solar cells with high efficiency are successfully prepared. Some battery performance will be introduced.
