  • This study was designed for middle school students in Su-Won City to find out their level of hope in environmental education and who had not been introduced to environmental skills and knowledge as a separate subject in their school curriculum. Additionally, the result of the study was expected to provide basic environmental education material to teachers who are on the front line in our environmental education efforts. The mother used to be very influential on her children's thinking and behavior to a large degree. Acknowledging these facts, students and their mothers were chosen for this study The questionnaire from each of the two groups were compared and studied. The questionnaire, comprised of 23 questions, was completed during the period of time from March 6 through March 11, 2000. The schools that participated in the study were 5 junior high schools in Su-Won City and the participants were students and their mothers. The questionnaires were given to 450 students and their mothers to be completed and returned. A total of 379 student questionnaires and 323 mother questionnaires were received for examination. The results of questionnaire were analyzed by using SPSS/PC 8.0 software program with Frequencies Analysis, Mean Analysis, Reliability Analysis, Correlation Analysis, Paired Samples T-test, and $\chi$$^2$-test. The questionnaires generated the following results. The reliability coefficient was 0.847 from the students and 0.895 from the mothers. The level of interest in an environmental education curriculum was 24.3% from students and 86.0% from mothers. Interestingly, the gender difference of level of interest in an environmental education curriculum was 25.7% from male and 23.1% from female. The difference in the environmental function levels between female and male students was statistically significant(t=-4.109, p<0.001). For mathematical skills in environmental functions, the students and mothers thought trash, air pollution, and lack of forest were problems however they showed inactive support and unreasonable attitudes toward the problems that they themselves pointed to for solving the problems. Under the environmental problems solving issue, the significance between two groups was 0.014(P<0.001) and the result dictates there was no correlation. The t-test showed no difference in environmental knowledge level between student genders. The knowledge level between students and mothers was related each other. The Paired Sample t-test between students versus mothers on environmental skills and knowledge was 0.000*(*P<0.001) and it showed there was correlation between the two groups. With this study, educating mothers should be noticed as a great priority in environmental education that will lead to a more positive environmental outlook from our students.

  • Global warming has a significant impact on diverse ecosystems including agroecosystem through; changing of phenology, physiology and distribution. Monitoring of biological responses emanating from global warming is required to understand the challenges of biological diversity conservation posed by climate change. The Korean government selected four butterfly species as indicators of climate change in agroecosystem: Papilio xuthus, Pieris rapae, Colias erate, and Eurema mandarina. The aim of this study was to investigate the different monitoring methods of the butterflies in Korea and suggest a suitable monitoring method to track the population trends of butterflies in the agroecosystem. Butterfly monitoring was conducted in eight sites throughout Korea from April to October, 2018 using three survey methods: point census at rice paddy area, point census at the border between rice paddy and hill and line transect along the rice paddy and hill. Each method took approximately 30 min. to count the butterflies. A total of 4,691 butterflies and 92 species were counted: The most dominant species was Pieris rapae with a total count of 1,205 individuals followed by Polygonia c-aureum, Zizeeria maha, Colias erate, Cupido argiades and Papilio xuthus. Among the three census methods, the total number of species and individuals when using line transect method was statistically higher than in the other methods. However, the numbers of the four butterflies indicators showed no difference throughout three census methods. Based on the number of species and the total individuals butterflies in agroecosystem, we advocate for the application of line transect method as it can find more butterflies in agroecosystem. In addition, we advised for the implementation of education programs on the line transect method in butterfly identification to participants of the national monitoring program.

  • A current flowing through a distribution conductor produces induced voltage, which is harmful to a telecommunication line. Previous research on induced voltage has been focused on single-circuit lines in the distribution system. However, the double-circuit lines, referred to as parallel distribution lines, are widely used in distribution systems because they have significant economic and environmental advantages over single-circuit lines. Therefore, a study on the induced voltage in double-circuit lines is needed. This paper presents a method of calculating the induced voltage in a parallel distribution system using four-terminal parameters and vector analysis. The calculation method is verified by the Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) simulation.

  • An ennomine species, Paradarisa chloauges Prout, 1927 is newly recorded from Korea. Adults were collected at the south aspect of Mt. Hallasan, Jejudo. Paradarisa chloauges can be distinguished by grayish or dark greenish foreand hindwings, blackish basal, ante- and postmedial lines with a blackish discal dot on the forewing and transverse antemedial line, as well as a strongly dentate postmedial line and a thick, dark brownish tinged subterminal line on the hindwing. Paradarisa chloauges is externally very similar to P. consonaria, but can be distinguished by the larger wingspan and flying time. The male genitalia of P. chloauges are similar to those of P. consonaria, but can be distinguished by the long sacculus and two harpe processes on the valva and the large spinular cornuti on the vesical. The female genitalia of P. chloauges are similar to those of P. consonaria, but can be distinguished by the large bagshaped corpus bursae. To date, two species of the genus Paradarisa have been recorded in Korea.

  • This study is aiming to find one of working conditions for loading and unloading a large ship at game port. Firstly, for dynamic analysis of the moored ships, the motion characteristics of ship according to loading condition are figured out. The motion characteristics of ship is related to environmental factors such as current, wind, mooring line, fender and etc. As a result, it is ascertained through numerical simulation using the AQUA MARINE developed by ANSYS INC. This study might contribute to make a new method of mooring stability of target ship.

  • The multiple correlation coefficient between the values determined by dry weight and those determined by fluorometer was observed with r=0.96 and the standard error of calibration was 0.034. Using the best calibration data, in order to reconfirm the reliability of the fluorometer results in comparison with those obtained by dry weight on the cell concentration, fedbatch cultures were carried out. The results obtained by fluorometer measurements were in good agreement with those obtained by dry weight. The on-line monitoring of cell concentration by the fermentor system linked to a computer equipped with fluorometer was successfully carried out.
