Adaptive-Predictive Controller based on Continuous-Time Poisson-Laguerre Models for Induction Motor Speed Control Improvement

  • Induction Motor (IM) has several desirable features for high performance adjustablespeed operation. This paper presents the design of a robust controller for vector control induction motor drive performances improvement. Proposed predictive speed controller, which is aimed to guarantee the stability of the closed loop, is based on the Poisson-Laguerre (PL) models for the association vector control drive and the induction motor; without necessity of any mechanical parameter, and requires only two control parameters to ensure implicitly the integrator effect on the steady state error, load torque disturbances rejection and anti-windup effect. In order to improve robustness, insensitivity against external disturbances and preserve desired performance, adaptive control is added with the aim to ensure an online identification of controller parameters through an online PL models identification. The proposed control is compared with the conventional approach using PI controller. Simulation with MATLAB/SIMULINK software and experimental results for a 1kW induction motor using a dSPACE system with DS1104 controller board are carried out to show the improvement performance.

  • In this paper, we proposed an optimal identification method of identifying the membership func¬tions and the fuzzy rules for the stabilization controller of the nonlinear system by RVEGA( Real Variable Elitist Genetic Algo rithm l. Although fuzzy logic controllers have been successfully applied to industrial plants, most of them have been relied heavily on expert's empirical knowl¬edge. So it is very difficult to determine the linguistic state space partitions and parameters of the membership functions and to extract the control rules. Most of conventional approaches have the drastic defects of trapping to a local minima. However, the proposed RVEGA which is similiar to the processes of natural evolution can optimize simulta¬neously the fuzzy rules and the parameters of membership functions. The validity of the RVEGA - based fuzzy controller was proved through applications to the stabi¬lization problems of an inverted pendulum system with highly nonlinear dynamics. The proposed RVEGA - based fuzzy controller has a swing -. up control mode(swing - up controller) and a stabi¬lization one(stabilization controller), moves a pendulum in an initial stable equilibrium point and a cart in an arbitrary position, to an unstable equilibrium point and a center of the rail. The stabi¬lization controller is composed of a hierarchical fuzzy inference structure; that is, the lower level inference for the virtual equilibrium point and the higher level one for position control of the cart according to the firstly inferred virtual equilibrium point. The experimental apparatus was imple¬mented by a DT -- 2801 board with AID, D/A converters and a PC - 586 microprocessor.

  • The integrated environment for the fuzzy logic controller with the acceleration converter to improve the dynamic characteristic of a one-axis moving table is proposed in the paper. The two inputs of the fuzzy logic controller are position error and velocity. The two inputs of the acceleration converter used to produce the acceleration input for the one-axis moving table are actual and setting rotational speeds. The proposed controller is implemented on a personal computer by using MATLAB and Visual Basic for a real time control via a motion control board.   • A controller was designed generally using C or assembly languages on high-speed design controller. But, in this paper, DC servo controller is designed using the cord of the block-diagram of SIMTool. By the method, we can design, realized and analyzed a control system quickly in real-time. And we expect that the various plants of a robot vehicles are controled through the outside I/O board changing the structure of the block-diagram of SIMTool into AUTOTool. In addition, our developed system helps the most suitable automatic controller design and tester with hight-speed.

  • The PRT can be divided into In-Track and On-Board according to propulsion method. In process of In-Track, vehicles driven by LIMs(Linear Induction Motor) which are installed in Guideway. Central Controller, which control whole machine, must control speed and direction of all vehicles. In this case, as vehicle increases, Central Controller will overload. If Central Controller fails, all vehicle stops. To avoid this problem, processing of Central Controller must be distributed. This paper introduces method of Distributed Routing. Method of Distributed Routing will provide safety and efficiency for PRT System.

  • In this paper an optimal method based on fuzzy logic for controlling parallel hybrid electric vehicles is presented. In parallel hybrid electric vehicles the required torque for deriving and operating the on-board accessories is generated by a combination of internal-combustion engine and an electric motor. The powersharing between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor is the key point for efficient driving. This is a highly nonlinear and time varying plant and its control strategy will be implemented with the use of fuzzy logic controller. The fuzzy logic controller will be designed based on the state of charge of batteries and the desired torque for driving. The output of controller controls the throttle of the combustion engine. The main contribution of this paper is the development of an optimal control based on fuzzy logic, which maximizes the output torque of the vehicle while minimizing fuel consumed by the combustion engine.

  • In this paper, a study on the controller for high speed PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchro-nous Motor) is described. PMSM can be driven over 50,000 rpm because it has no brush and commutator structure. It also has less EMI noise and easy cooling structure compare to the other motors. The controller was designed to have a capability to drive 20kw, 42,000rpm high speed motor system. A senseless vector control method was studied based on d-q conversion theory to have a high driving efficiency. The control board was designed using TMS320C33 and the performance was verified by experimental results on driving the inverter and motor system.

  • Dual electromagnetic sensor is used for sensing the weld line. The sensor consists of excitation and two sensing coil wound over the ferro-magnetic core. By using the dual sensor, the effect of noise is minimized. It is based on the generation of eddy currents in the welding plate by passing current through the excitation coil. The sensor can be used to track the butt joints having no gap between them, where a vision based sensor fails to track. Sensor sensitivity depends on the number of coil turns, frequency of excitation, distance of a sensor from the work piece, diameter of core, etc. The whole system consists of a sensor, a signal processing board, a motion controller and a personnel computer (PC). The raw sensor signal is processed using the signal processing board. It consists of amplification, rectification, filtering, averaging, offset adjustment, etc. Based on sensor data, the motion controller adjusts the position of a welding torch.

High-Performance Metal-Substrate Power Module for Electrical Applications

  • This paper demonstrates the performance of a metal-substrate power module with multiple fabricated chips for a high current electrical application, and evaluates the proposed module using a 1.5-kW sinusoidal brushless direct current (BLDC) motor. Specifically, the power module has a hybrid structure employing a single-layer heat-sink extensible metal board (Al board). A fabricated motor driver IC and trench gate DMOSFET (TDMOSFET) are implemented on the Al board, and the proper heat-sink size was designed under the operating conditions. The fabricated motor driver IC mainly operates as a speed controller under various load conditions, and as a multi-phase gate driver using an N-ch silicon MOSFET high-side drive scheme. A fabricated power TDMOSFET is also included in the fabricated power module for three-phase inverter operation. Using this proposed module, a BLDC motor is operated and evaluated under various pulse load tests, and our module is compared with a commercial MOSFET module in terms of the system efficiency and input current.

  • In this paper, network management system(NMS) was developed using Ethernet network for several devices. Recently, due to the development of the information communication, network has been constructed several place. And management system using network has been studied due to the increment of necessity of remote control for industrial device. Agent board that necessity of NMS, was developed using general micro-controller, it operates like stand-alone network device, supports TCP/IP protocol suite, has the ability to connect to industrial device and communicates each other. Also manager base on MMI was developed, it operates with agent board and supports effective management. To prove this system UPS(uninterruptible power supply) is selected as the example of industrial device. Finally, experimental result verifies the communication between agent board and manager.
