The purpose of this study was to investigate any differences in the efficiency of various antioxidants for the three types of substrates such as corn oil in water (O/W) emulsion, water in com oil (W/O) emulsion, and bulky corn oil. ${\alpha}$-Tocopherol (${\alpha}$-Toc) at 0.01 or 0.02%, ascorbic acid (AsA), ascorbyl palmitate (AP), and BHT at 0.02% were added separately to the prepared O/W emulsion, W/O emulsion, and bulk oil, and their antioxidative effects were compared. The mixture of ${\alpha}$-Toc ind AsA or AP at the level of 0.02% also was tested to observe any synergistic effect. Oxidation was made by storing at 42${\pm}$1$^{\circ}C$ for 25 days and the oxidative stability was determined by peroxide value and conjugated dienoic acid with time fluctuation of storage. The results were as follows: 1. In case of O/W emulsion, the order of antioxidative effect was AP> ${\alpha}$-Toc+AP>${\alpha}$-Toc+AsA>AsA>BHT. 2. In case of W/O emulsion, the order of antioxidative effect was AsA>AP>${\alpha}$-Toc+AsA>BHT. ${\alpha}$-Toc+AP mixture showed the prooxidant effect rather than synergistic effect. 3. In case of bulk oil, the order of antioxidative effect was AsA>AP>${\alpha}$-Toc+AsA>${\alpha}$-Toc+AP\ulcornerBHT. Therefore, AsA, a hydrophilic antioxidant, was more effective in W/O emulsion system than in O/W emulsion system, while the opposite trend was found in AP, a lipophilic antioxidant. AsA, a hydrophilic antioxidant, was more efficient in bulk oil of anhydrous substrate. ${\alpha}$-Toc showed prooxidant effects in all substrates.

This paper provides the results of numerical and theoretical predictions of oil outflows from damaged single-hull and double-hull ships.Theoretical equations derived from the unsteady Bernoulli equation and a CFD method for multi-phase flow analysis were used to estimate the oil outflow rate from cargo tank. The predicted oil outflow rate from a single-hull cargo tank damaged due to grounding and collision accidents showed a good agreement with the available experimental results in both numerical and theoretical analyses. However, in the case of the double-hull conditions, the time variation of the amount of water and oil mixture inside the ballast tank predicted by the theoretical equation showed some different behavior from the numerical results. The reason was that the interaction of the oil flow with the water inflow in the ballast tank was not reflected in the theoretical equations. In the problems of the initial pressure condition in the cargo and ballast tanks, the oil outflow and water inflow were delayed at the pressure condition that the tanks were sealed. When the flow interaction between the oil and water in the ballast tank was less complicated, the theoretical and the numerical results showed a good agreement with each other.
The antioxidant actilvity of ethanol-extracts (M-2 and M-30), which had been obtained from a Maillard-type browning mixture after 2 and 90 hr browning, and BHA, BHT, TBHQ, and ascorbyl palmitate It·as investigated in soybean oil and soybean oil-water emulsion systems. The activity of the extracts and antioxidants was estimated by comparing the POV and TBA value development of the corresponding substrates with that of controls. The substrates and controls were stored at $45.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ for 25 days. The activity of the extracts (10 ml each) and antioxidants (0.02%) based mainly on the POY development of the corresponding anhydrous substrates was, in decreasing order, as follows ; As. palmitate, TBHQ > M-30, M-2 > BHT, BHA The actilvity of the extracts and antioxidants in tile oil-water emulsion substrates was, in decreasing order, as follows : As. palmitate > M-30, M-2 > BHT, TBHQ, BHA The activity of the extracts appeared to be more effective in the oil-water emulsion system than in the anhydrous system, and it f·as greater than that of the phenolic antioxidants such as BHA, BHT, and TBHQ in the oil-water emulsion system.

For the slip resistance test of shower room floor, the "O-Y Pull Slip Meter method (O-Y·PSM)" regulated under KS M 3510. This test method uses cooking oil as a substitute of soapy water, and thus it does not reflect the real condition. In this study, on 10 types of floor material samples, the Coefficient of Slip Resistance Bath (CSR·B) on bare foot between 10 types of body wash solution and 6 types of SDS solution was compared. The body wash solution is a mixture of soap and water in 1:20 ratio. As a result, SDS 0.1% solution was the most suitable for a substitute of soapy water in shower.

In this study, a new optical method for oil detection using an analysis the light-absorption image of separate oil-water mixture with a LED illumination is described. To obtain an information about the presence of oil on water and the thickness of oil, the intensity of light-absorption images acquired through CCD is analyzed. To select the optimal wavelength of the light source, the experiment is conducted using several LEDs having four different wavelength. In the case of using a blue LED having 465 nm wavelength, an intensity decreasing tendency of light-absorption image is obvious and clear. To identify the applicability of sensing system at the real sea condition, experiments are conducted as varying the brightness and water surface angle. Through this research, new optical oil detection methodology is proposed using the absorption difference between water and oil with single-wavelength LED and CCD.

This study was performed to determine the effect of field pea silages which were the organic acid (OA) alternative of oregano and cinnamon essential oils on fermentation quality and aerobic stability. Whole crop pea was harvested at full pod stage and wilted in the laboratory at the 48 h. The chopped pea was mixed and divided into equal portions allocated to five groups: CON (non-treated), distilled water, denoted as control group; OA group, a mixture of 60% formic acid, 20% sodium formate and 20% water applied at a rate of 5 g/kg fresh forage (Silofarm Liquid, Farmavet); origanum (ORE) group, Origanum onites essential oil at 400 mg/kg fresh forage; cinnamon (CIN) group, cinnamon essential oil at 400 mg/kg fresh forage; origanum+cinnamon (ORECIN) group, a mixture of ORE and CIN applied at an equal rate of 400 mg/kg fresh forage. Cinnamon decreased acetic acid (AA), ammonia nitrogen ($NH_3-N$) and weight loss (WL) at the end of 60 days silage. Crude protein (CP) and dry matter (DM) increased by cinnamon essential oil. Yeasts were not detected in any treatments, including the control, after 7 days of air exposure. The $CO_2$ amount decreased and the formation mold was inhibited in the aerobic period by the addition of cinnamon oil. Oregano did not show a similar effect, but when it was used with cinnamon, it showed synergic effect on AA and during aerobic period, it showed antagonistic effect on mold formation and DM losses. It was found in this study that cinnamon can be an alternative to organic acids.
Light cycle Oil(LCO) contains 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene (2,6-DMNA) which is used as the basic material for high performance engineering plastics and liquid crystal polymer. This study was experimentally investigated to concentrate a mixture of dimethylnaphthalene(DMNA) isomers in the LCO by extraction-distillation combination as a pretreatment for separation and purification of 2,6-DMNA in the LCO. Furthermore, concentration of a mixture of DMNA isomers in the LCO compared between distillation and extraction-distillation combination. The recovery of aromatics in the LCO was performed by batch cocurrent multistage extraction with dimethylsulfoxide and water mixture as solvent. The concentration of naphthalene group(carbon number 10-12) in the extracted mixture is higher than that in the LCO. The yield for naphthalene group increased with decreasing carbon number. The yield for a mixture of DMNA isomers obtained in 5 equilibrium extration runs was about 65%. the separation of individual components with extractedmixture was tested by batch distillation. Futhermore, for recovery of a mixture of DMNA isomers of high concentration, distillate containing DMNA was distilled. As a result, a mixture of DMNA isomers with high concentration such as 60wt% was recovered. The extraction-distillation combination was more effective than the distillation to concentration a mixture of DMNA isomer in the LCO.
The enzymatic hydrolysis of Castor oil for the mass production of ricinoleic acid was studied to find out the optimum conditions such as solvents and the weight ratio of substrate to enzyme. Three different lipases were tested for the hydrolysis of castor oil: lipase from Porcine Pancrease(lipsase PP), lipase from Candida cylindracea(lipase CC), lipase from Candida Rugosa(lipase CR). The poor mass transfer in water caused a low degree of hydrolysis of castor oil. To overcome this problem, organic solvents were used. Among organic solvents tested, hydrophobic solvents gave better results of hydrolysis than hydrophilic solvents. Organic solvents also lowered or changed the effect of pH. Isopropyl ether made complete hydrolysis of castor oil. The ratio of water to isopropyl ether and the ratio of weight ratio of lipase to castor oil were important for the hydrolysis of castor oil. At 30$^{\circ}C$ castor oil was completely hydrolyzed by 4 wt% of lipase in the mixture of isopropyl ether and water(1:1 in volume).
The contamination in soil, underground water and river environment became serious due to illegal waste dumping. In this study, our research group analyzed the oil species of illegally disposed oils from J City. After pretreating the mixture of oil, water and solid phases to obtain homogeneous phase components, the physical property analysis, atom analysis, and gas chromatography were performed. From the results showing 11.8% of oxygen content, $-6^{\circ}C$ of pour point and chromatogram pattern. the contaminated oil was identified as a vegetable one. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis was also performed in order to know what kind of vegetable oil was, and the ratio of LLO, OOL and POL was found to be high indicating that the disposed oil is majorly the used soybean oil with some vegetable oil mixtures. This study can be used for identifying contaminators for oils from the illegal waste dumping.

CWM(Coal Water Mixture) is a mixed fuel that consists of coal, water and additives. The main advantages of CWM are reducing the oil consumption and the air pollution materials such as flyash, dirt, and $SO_x$. This paper presented a case study for the economic feasibility analysis of changing an existing coal-oil power plant to a CWM power plant. The economic analysis of changing a coal-oil power plant to a CWM power plant was based on the total annual incremental costs of two power plants. We found that this project was economically and environmentally acceptable.
