냉수형성이 동한난류에 미치는 영향에 대한 2층 모델 (A Two-layer Model for the Effect of Cold Water Formation on the East Korean Warm Current)

  • 겨울철 동해 북부해역은 저층냉수의 형성역으로 간주될 수 있다. 이러한 저층냉수의 형성으로 인한 동해 순환계의 변화를 조사하기 위해 본 연구에서는 실제 해저지형과 흡사한 2층 해양모델을 사용하였다. 먼저 유입-유출만을 고려하여 동한난류의 형성을 살펴보았고, 이후 동해 북부해역에 냉수형성을 고려하여 냉수의 움직임 및 이것이 동한난류에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다 냉수의 형성으로 인한 경계면의 상승은 냉수형성 지역으로부터 내부 Kelvin파의 형태로 전파하여 약 7개월 후에는 동해 전 연안역의 경계면이 상승하게 되어 경압효과를 강화시켜, 점차적으로 상충에는 시계방향의 순환류가, 하층에는 반 시계방향의 순환류가 강화된다. 즉 냉수의 형성으로 인해 상층에는 한국 동해안을 따라 북상하는 동한난류가 강화되며 하층에서는 남향류가 강화되는 결과를 초래한다.

CCTV 카메라 시스템에 의한 ARPA 레이더 추적선박의 자동식별 (Automatic identification of ARPA radar tracking vessels by CCTV camera system)

  • This paper describes a automatic video surveillance system(AVSS) with long range and 360$^{\circ}$ coverage that is automatically rotated in an elevation over azimuth mode in response to the TTM(tracked target message) signal of vessels tracked by ARPA(automatic radar plotting aids) radar. This AVSS that is a video security and tracking system supported by ARPA radar, CCTV(closed-circuit television) camera system and other sensors to automatically identify and track, detect the potential dangerous situations such as collision accidents at sea and berthing/deberthing accidents in harbor, can be used in monitoring the illegal fishing vessels in inshore and offshore fishing ground, and in more improving the security and safety of domestic fishing vessels in EEZ(exclusive economic zone) area. The movement of the target vessel chosen by the ARPA radar operator in the AVSS can be automatically tracked by a CCTV camera system interfaced to the ECDIS(electronic chart display and information system) with the special functions such as graphic presentation of CCTV image, camera position, camera azimuth and angle of view on the ENC, automatic and manual controls of pan and tilt angles for CCTV system, and the capability that can replay and record continuously all information of a selected target. The test results showed that the AVSS developed experimentally in this study can be used as an extra navigation aid for the operator on the bridge under the confusing traffic situations, to improve the detection efficiency of small targets in sea clutter, to enhance greatly an operator s ability to identify visually vessels tracked by ARPA radar and to provide a recorded history for reference or evidentiary purposes in EEZ area.

능동 슬라이딩 모드 제어기를 이용한 변형된 Lorenz 카오스 동기화 (Modified Lorenz Chaos Synchronization Via Active Sliding Mode Controller)

  • 카오스는 비선형 과학 분야에서 매우 중요한 주제 중의 하나이며, Lorenz가 처음으로 소개한 이후 집중적으로 연구되어지고 있다. 카오스 시스템의 한 특성은 카오스 시스템에 의해 생성된 신호는 다른 어떤 시스템과 동기화되지 않는다는 것이다. 따라서 두 카오스 시스템은 서로 동기화되는 것이 불가능한 것처럼 보이지만, 만약 두 시스템이 적절한 방법으로 정보를 교환한다면 이 두 시스템은 동기화가 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 능동 제어와 슬라이딩 모드 제어, 그리고 리아프노프 안정도 이론을 기반으로 하는 변형된 Lorenz 카오스 시스템의 동기화 문제에 대해 다룬다. 동기화를 위해 고려한 기법은 선형상태 오차 변수에 의해 짝을 이룬 구동시스템과 응답시스템으로 구성된다. 이를 위해 우선 대상 카오스 시스템에 대해 간단히 살펴본다. 다음으로 능동제어, 슬라이딩 모드 제어 기법을 이용한 카오스 시스템의 동기화와 채터링 문제를 해결하기 위한 제어 방법을 도출한다. 전체 폐루프 시스템의 점근적 안정도는 리아프노프 안정도 이론에 의해 증명한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션은 제안한 방법의 타당성을 확인하기 위해 그래픽으로 제시한다.

남해안 상괭이(Finless porpoise)의 분포 (Finless porpoise, Neophocaena phocaenoides, Distribution in the South Sea of Korea)

  • To confirm the distributon of finless porpoise, Neophocaena phocaenoides, in the South Sea of Korea, data on bycatch, stranding, and drifting of finless porpoises from 1999 to 2009 were used and a sighting survey was conducted from the R/V Tamgu No. 9 and 10 in June and November, 2009 and March, 2010. The total number of bycaught, stranded, and drifting finless porpoises was 607, with position being known for 186 of these. At the center of Yeosu, there were few position data on bycaught, stranded, and drifting finless porpoises, and data could not confirm the distribution of finless porpoises. Thus, there were limits on the usefulness of bycaught, stranded, and drifting data for confirming the distribution of finless porpoises. In the three sighting surveys, the sighting rate was highest at 0.231 ind./n.m. in the western South Sea in June, 2009. Sighting rate was less than 0.1 ind./n.m. in November, 2009 and March, 2010. This is likely to be due to seasonal migration in western South Sea. All sighting rates in the eastern South Sea were over 0.13 ind./n.m.. According to the results of the sighting survey, finless porpoises are distributed around the islands and inner bay along the path of the research vessel in the South Sea. There were numerous finless porpoises in the offshore areas of Mokpo, Yeosu, Tongyeong, Dadaepo, and Gaduk-do. This study will be utilized as part of a future abundance assessment of finless porpoise in the South Sea of Korea.

여수연안 정치망어장의 환경요인과 어황 변동에 관한 연구 - 2 . 어장주변 해역의 해수유동 - (Environmental Factors and Catch Fluctuation of Set Net Grounds in the Coastal Waters of Yeosu - 2 . Sea Water Circulation in the Vicinity of Set Net Ground -)

  • In order to investigate the environmental properties of set net grounds located in the coastal waters of Yeosu. The current in the vicinity of set net grounds was observed by drogue and current meter in 1990 and 1992. The results obtained are summarized as follows: The direction of tidal current at the north enterance of Yeosu bay was southerly in ebb and northwesterly in flood without the distiction of the neap tide and the spring tide. In spring tide the maximum Velocity of the tidal current was 68 cm/sec in ebb and 66 cm/sec in flood. In neap tide the maximum velocity of the tidal current was 37 cm/sec in ebb and 35 cm/sec in flood. And so the direction of residual current was the south ward mainly and 21 cm/sec. The direction of tidal current at set net fishing grounds was southwesterly in ebb and westerly or northwesterly in flood. Regardless of the distinction of neap and spring. The maximum velocity of the current in spring tide was 50 cm/sec in ebb and 40 cm/sec in flood and that in neap was 28 cm/sec in ebb and 25 cm/sec in flood. In spring tide the speed vector along the major axis of semidiurnal tide component was three times as large as diurnal tide. In neap tide, however, the speed vector was about 50% less then that in spring tide, and the semidiurnal tide and diurnal tide were equal in the size of current ellipse and the direction of major axis. The sea area had a southwesterly residual current. 11 cm/sec in spring tide and 7 cm/sec in neap tide. According to the result of drogue tracking, the vicinity of set net fishing ground had a southerly residual current which formed in Yeosu Bay and a weak westerly residual current toward Dolsando from Namhedo. Therefore, set net fishing ground in coastal water of Yeosu was distributed in boundary of inner water which formed from Seamjin river and offshore water supplied from the vicinity of Sorido and Yochido.

완도 해역의 해수면 조건에 따른 파랑 변형 특성 (Characteristics of Wave Propagation by Water Level Conditions at Wando Sea Area: Numerical Modeling)

  • The aim of this study was estimated the characteristics of the wave propagation by the water level conditions using a numerical modeling method at the Wando sea area. For three cases numerical simulation on the condition of incident and incoming of the deepwater design wave and the season normal wave, the spatial distribution of the incident wave at study area were investigated. And the calculated numerical modeling results were compared with measured field wave data. According to on-site wave data measured for 18 days, the range of the significant wave height and period were 0.10~1.14 m, 4.35~8.74 sec, respectively, and the maximum wave height were 0.15~1.66 m. From the results of numerical model for offshore design wave incident, the wave height attacked from Southern-East direction at this study area were over maximum 10.5 m because of rapidly change of water depth. Numerical modeling by three water level conditions of Approxmate Lowest Low Water Level(Approx. L.L.W), Mean Sea Level(M.S.L) and Approximate Highest High Water Level(Approx. H.H.W) were practiced. From the results for the case of Approx. H.W.L, variations of wave height at the back area of islands were about 1.6 m at maximum value for the case of deepwater design wave incoming. The significant wave heights of winter season were bigger than summer under normal wave condition, the incident wave height over 5.5 m decreased by shielding effect of islands. The change of maximum wave height at summer season were distinct than winter and was about 1.2 m and 0.8 m, respectively.

Community Dynamics and Distribution of Dinoflagellates and Their Cysts in Masan-Chinhae Bay, Korea

  • The community dynamics and distribution of dinoflagellates and their cysts were monitored monthly from June 1996 to May 1997 at six stations in Masan-Chinhae Bay, one of the famous bays for red-tide occurrence in Korea. The dinoflagellate standing crops ranged from the minimum of 306 cells $ml^{-1}$ in February to the maximum of 37,959 cells $ml^{-1}$ in May. The species causing massive blooms were Prorocentrum micans Ehrenberg and Ceratium furca (Ehrenberg) Claparede & Lachmann in July, Gymnodinium sanguineum Hirasaka in October, Alexandrium tamarense (Lebour) Balech in April and Proroeentrum minimum (Pavillard) Schiller in May. Twenty-seven taxa of dinoflagellate cysts were isolated, including 20 identified species and 7 unidentified species. The mean cyst abundance ranged from the minimum of 556 cysts $cm^{-3}$ in June to the maximum of 5,727 cysts$cm^{-3}$ in February. The spatial pattern of cyst distribution showed the gradual increase in abundance from offshore to inshore stations. The cyst genera of Protoperidinium, Gymnodinium, Serippsiella, Gyrodinium and Alexandrium were abundant throughout the year. The vertical distribution of cysts showed the surface miximum at the 0-2cm layer and the sub-surface maximum at the 2-4cm layer. Total abundance of cysts showed the most significant relationships with water temperature, and some minor relationship with dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, phosphate and total inorganic nitrogen of surface and bottom layer in the water column. The number of dinoflagellate species decreased, while the abundance of cysts increased 4.5 times as compared with the observation of 10 years prior to the present study at the same stations of Masan-Chinhae Bay.

Line Transect에서 발견율함수 추정에 사용되는 모델에 따른 상괭이, Neophocaena phocaenoides의 자원개체수 추정 (Abundance Estimation of the Finless Porpoise, Neophocaena phocaenoides, Using Models of the Detection Function in a Line Transect)

  • Line transect sampling in a sighting survey is one of most widely used methods for assessing animal abundance. This study applied distance data, collected from three sighting surveys using line transects for finless porpoise that were conducted in 2004 and 2005 off the west coast of Korea, to four models (hazard-rate, uniform, half-normal and exponential) that can use a variety of detection functions, g (x). The hazard-rate model, a derived model for the detection function, should have a shoulder condition chosen using the AIC (Akaike Information Criterion), as the most suitable model. However, it did not describe a shoulder shape for the value of g(x) near the track tine and underestimated g (x), just as the exponential model did. The hazard-rate model showed a bias toward overestimating the densities of finless porpoises with a higher coefficient of variation (CV) than the other models did. The uniform model underestimated the densities of finless porpoise but had the lowest CV. The half-normal model described a detection function with a shape similar to that of the uniform model. The half-normal model was robust for finless porpoise data and should be able to avoid density underestimation. The estimated abundance of finless porpoise was 3,602 individuals (95% CI=1,251-10,371) inshore in 2005 and 33,045 individuals (95% CI=24,274-44,985) offshore in 2004.

우리나라 어선감척사업 현황과 개선방향 (Present Status and Direction of Improvements in Fishing Vessels Buyback Program in Korea)

  • The fishing vessel buyback program, that is, the project of fishing vessel reduction is a complex challenge that needs to take into consideration for both fishing resource protection and industrial restructuring. By the way, the fishing vessel buyback program in Korea is still poorly fruitful and there are few applications for the project in the country. For example, the buyback program of this nation has some problems like uncertainly set goals, conflicts among targets, no flexibility in the program implementation, low participation in the project and lack in follow-up actions. To solve these problems, this study offers the following alternatives. First, it is setting up detailed targets for fishing vessel buyback. Those targets should be what can be actually driven under policy support, such as reduction in illegal fishing, decrease in an exact number of fishing vessels and decline in fishing capacity rather than what seem to be comprehensive such as protection of coastal or offshore fishery and industrial restructuring. Second, it is taking measures for the livelihood of those who would face disadvantages due to fishing vessel reduction. Those measures providing or supporting the re-education and re-employment of fishery workers and building up systems that help the workers transfer fishing to another job. Third, it is adopting the governance system that overcomes lacks in communications between the fishing vessel buyback program and improves the performance effectiveness of that program. Here, governance means that businesses and authorities concerned in the program interact and cooperate with one another in making and implementing policies related to the project of fishing vessel reduction and assessing the results of that project. Fourth, it is taking actions for fishery reorganization after the fishing vessel buyback program. Factors that can be considered as those actions include supporting fishery workers' cost of fishing vessel reduction, decreasing and modernizing fishing fleets and improving the quality of fishing equipment. In conclusion, the fishing vessel buyback program should be prepared with comprehensive actions or measures that can cope well with a variety of problems that may be arisen from it while keeping itself on the track of its original goals.

e-Navigation 서비스를 위한 충돌사고 평가지표 개발 (Development a Collision Accident Evaluation Indicator for an e-Navigation Service)

  • IMO에서는 선박운항기술에 ICT기술을 융합하여 해양사고를 예방하는 e-Navigation의 도입을 추진하고 있다. 국내에서도 해양사고의 취약계층인 어선 및 연안을 항해하는 소형선박을 대상으로 한국형 e-Navigation을 개발하고 있다. 그러나 한국형 e-Navigation의 성공적인 개발을 위해서는 현재까지 진행된 개발성과를 평가하고 개발 방향성을 재정립할 수 있도록 개발성과를 평가할 수 있는 지표의 개발이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 주요한 해양사고인 충돌사고를 중심으로 e-Navigation 서비스의 개발목표에 맞춘 평가지표를 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 RCA기법과 FTA 기법을 활용해 해상 충돌사고 발생 근본원인을 도출하고 이를 정량화하여 e-Navigation 서비스를 위한 충돌사고 평가지표를 개발하였다. 해당지표는 e-Navigation의 개발지표 및 충돌사고 분석을 위한 지표로 활용되어 해양사고 저감에 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다.
