철근콘크리트 구조물의 내구성 설계를 위한 비래염분 추정방법 (Estimation Method of Airborne Salinity for Durability Design of Reinforced Concrete Structure)

  • A comparative study of airborne salinity and sea wind was done for a coastal area, Sokcho city, of East Sea in Kangwon province, Korea. In this study, a relationship between the formation of airborne salinity and wind velocity was investigated, and then the airborne salinity was simulated and forecasted by the obtained wind-salinity characteristics. It is founded that most airborne salinity is brought by sea winds with the occurrence of velocity, higher than and equal to 4m/s, while the occurrence of lower wind velocities (ie., lower than 4m/s) in sea wind and the occurrence of inland wind give diluted effects on the airborne transfer. By using these characteristics and a proposed linear equation model, the salinity in Sokcho city is successfully simulated and forecasted. It is expected that the linear equation model may be useful for durability design of concrete structures under the conditions of chloride attack, induced by the airborne salinity.

신경인성과 발달성 말더듬의 비유창성 발생 자리에 대한 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Occurrence Loci of Disfluency between Neurogenic and Developmental Stuttering)

  • This study aims to clarify disfluency loci in a neurogenic stuttering group and to examine how the characteristics are different from a developmental stuttering group. For the study, spoken language samples were collected from 11 adults with developmental stuttering and 11 adults with neurogenic stuttering in the course of speaking tasks including reading, monologue and conversation. Using the collected samples, disfluency characteristics of the two groups were to be investigated by analyzing adaptation effect, consistency effect and frequency of disfluency occurrence according to word position, which are related to the occurrence loci of disfluency. Results of this study were as follows: First, while the neurogenic stuttering group did not show any adaptation effect, the developmental stuttering group showed the adaptation effect that the percent of disfluency word reducing as they read the same materials repeatedly. Second, there was no meaningful difference of consistency effect between the two stuttering groups. Third, the neurogenic stuttering group showed more disfluency frequency in final sounds among the word position compared to the developmental stuttering group.

춘천의 안개발생과 관련된 기상특성분석 및 수치모의 (Analysis of Meteorological Features and Prediction Probability Associated with the Fog Occurrence at Chuncheon)

  • In this study, meteorological characteristics concerning the occurrence of fog are analyzed using 4-years $(2000\~2003)$ data at Chuncheon and the probability of prediction is investigated. From the analysis of meteorological characteristics, the fog at Chuncheon occurred before sunrise time and disappeared after that time and lasted for $2\~4$ hours. When fog occurred, on the whole, wind direction was blew the northerly and wind speed was below 2.1m/s. Especially, about $42\%$ of foggy day fell on the calm $(0\~0.2\;ms^{-1})$ conditions. The difference between air temperature and dew point temperature near the surface were mainly less than $2^{\circ}C$. For the lack of water surface temperature, the water surface temperature was calculated by using Water Quality River Reservoir System (WQRRS) and then it was used as the surface boundary condition of MM5. The numerical experiment was carried out for 2 days from 1300 LST on 14 October 2003 to 1300 LST on 16 October 2003 and fog was simulated at dawn on 15 and 16 October 2003. Simulated air temperature and dew point temperature indicate the similar tendency to observation and the simulated difference between air temperature and dew point temperature has also the similar tendency within $2^{\circ}C$. Thus, the occurrence of fog is well simulated in the terms of the difference between air temperature and dew point temperature. Horizontal distribution of the difference between air temperature and dew point temperature from the numerical experiment indicates occurrence, dissipation and lasting time of fog at Chuncheon. In Chuncheon, there is close correlation between the frequency of fog day and outflow from Soyang reservoir and high frequency of occurrence due to the difference between air and cold outlet water temperature.

부산지역 여름철 해풍 발생 시 미세먼지와 초미세먼지 중의 이온성분 특성 (Characteristics of Fine Particle Concentration and Ionic Elements of PM2.5 during Sea Breeze Occurrences in Summertime in Busan)

  • This research investigated the characteristics of fine particle concentration and ionic elements of PM2.5 during sea breeze occurrences during summertime in Busan. The PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations of summertime sea breeze occurrence days in Busan were 46.5 ㎍/m3 and 34.9 ㎍/m3, respectively. The PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations of summertime non-sea breeze occurrence days in Busan were 25.3 ㎍/m3 and 14.3 ㎍/m3, respectively. The PM2.5/PM10 ratios of sea breeze occurrence days and non-sea breeze occurrence days were 0.74 and 0.55, respectively. The SO42-, NH4+, and NO3- concentrations in PM2.5 of sea breeze occurrence days were 9.20 ㎍/m3, 4.26 ㎍/m3, and 3.18 ㎍/m3 respectively. The sulfur oxidation ratio (SOR) and nitrogen oxidation ratio (NOR) of sea breeze occurrence days were 0.33 and 0.05, respectively. These results indicated that understanding the fine particle concentration and ionic elements of PM2.5 during sea breeze summertime conditions can provide insights useful for establishing a control strategy of urban air quality.

국내 소나무재선충병 발생 특성 분석: 2016~2018년 예찰데이터를 기반으로 (Analysis of Occurrence Characteristics of Pine Wilt Disease in Korea based on Monitoring Data from 2016 to 2018)

  • 소나무재선충병의 발생 특성을 이해하는 것은 소나무재선충병의 피해 및 확산을 최소화하기 위한 방제전략 수립을 위해 필수적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기상 요인, 지리적 요인, 그리고 인위적 요인과 같은 환경 조건과 소나무재선충병 발생과의 관계를 분석하였다. 2016년 5월부터 2018년 4월까지 소나무재선충병 발생 자료와 자연적, 인위적 요인들을 포함한 다양한 환경 조건의 공간 자료들을 수집하였고, 소나무재선충병에 의한 고사목 발생 본 수에 대한 환경 변수들의 상대적 기여도를 평가하였다. 총 17개의 자연적 요인과 인위적 요인 중에서 소나무재선충병 발생에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 확인한 결과 자연적 요인은 고도와 5~8월 기온이, 인위적 요인은 도로와 건물과의 거리가 소나무재선충병 감염고사목 발생본수와 밀접하게 연관이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Characteristics of mid-latitude field-aligned irregularities observed with VHF coherent scatter ionospheric radar over Korea

  • The 40.8-MHz VHF coherent scatter ionospheric radar, located in South Korea (Gyeryong, $36.18^{\circ}N$, $127.14^{\circ}E$), has been operating since December 2009 to investigate ionosphere E- and F-region field-aligned irregularities (FAIs) of mid-latitude. During the observation, we found E- and F-region FAIs appeared frequently: continuous echoes during the post-sunrise period and Quasi-Periodic (QP) echoes at nighttime for E region ; strong post-sunset and pre-sunrise FAIs for F region. The characteristics of E- and F-region FAIs are presented in terms of seasonal and local time variations of occurrence during December 2009 to August 2012. In addition, to investigate the correlation with geomagnetic activity to FAIs occurrence, we compared K-index variations to local time occurrence. It is worth to note our occurrence result since long term observation over several years in the mid-latitude has not yet been carried out.

지표면의 수분분포가 야생초본류의 발생에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Soil Surface Moisture Distribution in Perlite on Occurrence of Wild Plants)

  • This study was conducted to analyse the relation between physical characteristics of soil surface and wild plants occurrence. Lots of natural occurrence on loamy soil and a little of natural occurrence on perlite. Those were used to observe the wild plants occurrence through the duration. Natural occurrence of wild plants were observed on uniform sand, perlite, loamy soil and 2cms loamy soil layer above the perlite. Uniform sand was compared with different height of drain ditch. The results of analysis were as followed. 1. Wild plants germinated on the uniform perlite layer, they did not grow larger. Because water in large pores of perlite surface drained rapidly and evaporated easily, therefore surface remained low moisture contents. 2. A lot of weed grew on 2cms loamy layer on perlite which stratified above the perlite layer. Because perlite had plenty of soil moisture and soil moisture moved easily from perlite to loamy soil layer. 3. Uniform loamy soil had similar occurrence on the uniform perlite. It was nearly same at surface moisture distribution but lower than layered loamy soil on perlite, and the vertical distributions at soil moisture was totally lower than 2cms loamy soil layer on perlite. 4. Wild plants were grew on uniform sand on different height of drain ditch. In this case, much more wild plants were grew on which had more higher drainage ditch. The number of wild plants occurred when it was affected by soil surface moisture, drain ditch and natural occurrence of wild plants. This could be controlled by layered soil at surface moisture. Therefore weed occurrence can control in planting ground, where soil layer would not be disturbed.

우천에 따른 포트홀 발생 특성을 고려한 도로순찰 전략 (Road Patrol Strategy based on Pothole Occurrence Characteristics considering Rainfall Effects)

  • 도로에 발생하는 포트홀은 운전자들의 안전과 만족도, 차량파손에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 요소로 실시간에 준하는 검지와 대응이 요구된다. 순찰 빈도를 높이면 포트홀의 조속한 검지와 대응이 가능하나, 많은 인력과 비용, 시간이 소요된다. 또한 포트홀은 우천에 따라 발생특성이 달라지기 때문에 순찰의 효율성을 제고하기 위해서는 경제적 관점과 서비스 제공의 관점에서 최적빈도에 대해 고민해야 할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구는 장기간에 걸쳐 수집된 포트홀 발생이력과 기상정보를 활용하여 우천이 포트홀 발생에 미치는 영향과, 지속성, 강우강도의 영향에 대해 정량적 분석을 시도하였다. 그리고 이 결과를 근거로 리스크 기반의 최적화·가변화 순찰 전략을 제시하였다. 분석 결과 우천 시에는 포트홀 발생확률은 2.4배 증가하고, 비가 그친 후에도 그 영향은 3일간 지속됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 강우강도 1mm 당 포트홀 발생확률은 0.46% 증가하며, 1mm 수준의 적은 비에도 발생특성이 민감하게 반응함도 확인하였다. 이러한 특성에 근거한 포트홀 관리 최적 빈도는 신뢰수준 95% 수준에서 우천 비영향권일 경우 3일에 1회, 영향권에서는 1일 2회 이상의 순찰이 필요하다는 결론이 도출되었다.

소아중환자실 환아의 호흡기계 의료장치 관련 욕창 발생 관련 특성 (Characteristics Influencing the Occurrence of Respiratory Medical Device-related Pressure Ulcers in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)

  • Purpose: This prospective study was conducted to determine the incidence and related characteristics of respiratory medical device-related pressure ulcers (MDRPU) in children admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Methods: The participants were 184 children who were admitted to the PICU of P University Hospital from April 2016 to January 2017. Data were collected on the occurrence of respiratory MDRPU and characteristics regarding the application of respiratory medical devices. Results: Respiratory MDRPU occurred in 11.9% of participants (58.3%: stage I ulcers, 37.5%: mucosal ulcers). The devices associated with respiratory MDRPU were endotracheal tubes (54.2%), high-flow nasal cannulas (37.5%), and oximetry probes (8.3%). Respiratory MDRPU associated with an endotracheal tube were significant differences according to the site and strength of fixation, the use of a bite block and adhesive tape, skin dryness, and edema. In high-flow nasal cannulas, significant differences were found according to the site of fixation, immobility after fixation, and skin dryness. Conclusion: The occurrence of respiratory MDRPU is significantly affected by the method and strength of fixation, as well as skin dryness and edema. Therefore, appropriate consideration of these factors in nursing care can help prevent respiratory MDRPU.

Study on the Synoptic Meteorological Characteristics of Windstorms Occurring on the Korean Peninsula

  • Although most natural disaster related studies conducted in Korea recently have been related to typhoons or severe rainstorms, the occurrence frequency of disasters due to windstorms or rainstorms is also high. To reduce the strong wind damage caused by strong windstorms due to climate change, basic studies of strong winds are necessary. Therefore, in this study, the types and representative cases of windstorms that were observed to have been higher than 14 m/s, which is the criterion for strong-wind warnings from the Korea Meteorological Administration, were selected from among those windstorm cases that occurred on the Korean Peninsula for 10 years to conduct a statistical analysis of them and determine their synoptic meteorological characteristics. The cases of windstorms occurring on the Korean Peninsula were divided into six weather patterns according to the locations of the anticyclones/cyclones. Among these types, the SH type, which occurs when Siberian Highs expand into the Korean Peninsula, showed the highest occurrence frequency, accounting for at least the majority of the entire occurrence frequency of windstorms together with that of the EC type, which occurs when cyclones develop on the East Sea, and there was no clear yearly trend of the occurrence frequencies of windstorms. The monthly occurrence frequencies of windstorms were formed mainly by typhoons in the summer and the Siberian Highs in the winter, and the months with the highest windstorm occurrence frequencies were December and January, in which mainly the SH and EC type windstorms occurred. March showed the next highest occurrence frequency with10 times, and SH windstorms occurred the most frequently in March, followed by the CC, SC, and EC types of windstorms, in order of precedence. Therefore, attention to these types of windstorms is required. Countermeasures against storm and flood damage in Korea targeting the summer should be re-reviewed together with pre-disaster prevention plans, because cases of storm and flood damage due to windstorms occur more frequently than those due to typhoons, and they occur throughout the year.
