  • It is a system that controls temperature, humidity and fine-dust to make interior environment more comfortable for modern people who spend 90% of the time in indoor. In an experiment of finding which one of temperature and humidity influence more to discomfort index, for a fixed temperature of 21, discomfort index increased by 0.1 with a 1 change of humidity, and for a fixed humidity of 40, discomfort index increased by 1.2 with a 1 change of temperature. As a result, it was found that the temperature is more influential than the humidity to discomfort index. In an experiment of measuring communicational limitation of Bluetooth, the communication was possible for at most 30 meters without obstacles. With high obstacles like walls or steel bars, it was able to penetrate at most 2 obstacles and maximum distance which it can communicate was 10 meters for just one high molecule obstacle.

  • Although there is progress in developing green sectors in North America and East Asia, the key challenge facing the expansion of economy-wide green innovation and structural change in these regions is the absence of relevant policy follow-up to the green stimulus enacted during the Great Recession. The boost to green sectors provided by such measures is waning quickly, given that much of the green stimulus focused on energy efficiency. The biggest obstacles to sustaining green growth in North America and East Asiaare major market disincentives, especially the under-pricing of fossil fuels and market failures that inhibit green innovation. A three-part strategy to overcome these obstacles would involve: first, removing fossil fuel subsidies; second, employing market-based instruments to further reduce the social costs of fossil fuel use; and third, allocating any resulting revenue to public support for green innovation and investments. Such a strategy would ensure that green growth is not about promoting niche green sectors but instigating economy-wide innovation and structural transformation in North America and East Asia.

  • Recently, Power change devices using thyristor and transistor have grown with the rapid development of power electronics. But the devices using these semiconductors generate harmonics from the non-linear load, which gives rise to various obstacles. In this paper, therefore, as 3 taps are connected in input line, we can multiply the pulse in input line, by which harmonics is reduced.

  • A decade has passed since the first generation of Genesis was launched in the U.S. with the plaque of Hyundai-Genesis. Genesis Motors was separated from Hyundai Motor in 2015, and has struggled to have the Genesis stand alone in the competitive U.S. luxury sedan market. The present case study aims to find challenges facing the Genesis, which Hyundai has positioned as a luxury sedan competing against conventional luxury brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus; evaluate Genesis Motors' strategic response to meet these challenges; and explore an alternative positioning strategy. Specifically, the present case study addresses barriers against the Genesis' market performance, by focusing on the obstacles rooted in the consumer perception as well as the obstacles that stem from the change in the U.S. automobile industry and the nascent network of the Genesis dealership. Genesis Motors' current strategies are evaluated, and an alternative strategy is explored that is largely based on the American consumers' perceptions of the Genesis vis-a-vis conventional luxury brands and outperforming midsize brands.

  • The theory of post-heaven provided Korea's many emerging national religions with spiritual ground. The I Ching originated in China emphasizes the principles of change or static aspects of world, while Right I Ching, which Il-Bu Kim suggested, underlines dynamic aspects of world. Il-Bu Kim is perceived to open a new stage in the history of philosophy of I Ching in this regard. His most remarkable contribution is the view of Great Opening Era of Post-Heaven, according to which the clock of cosmos shows the era of great change from Pre-Heaven to Post-Heaven and in the world of Post-Heaven everything will take its proper place. As to human society, Il-Bu Kim foresaw the change from disharmony to harmony, imbalance to balance and era of xiaoren to that of junzi. The advent of such a new world, however, asks human's moral revolution as a prerequisite. In the tradition of East Asian thought, human is the center of the Samjae, Heaven-Earth-Human and the only being which could participate in the growth of Heaven and Earth. Without the change of human mind, however, human can neither participate in the growth of Heaven and Earth nor expect the right change of Heaven and Earth. Even though the world of nature changes according to the principle of cosmic harmony, as the Right I Ching predicts, the real change of Heaven and Earth can be achieved only with moral change of human. The human in the Right I Ching is a free man who sticks to nothing and communicates with cosmos with empty mind. This is the very image of perfect man(至人). The perfect man in the Right I Ching is the main agent of everything, that's to say, the main agent of the great opening to Post-Heaven Era. This is the reason why most leaders of Koran emerging religions concentrate on the change of human. In this regard, Jeung-San Kang encouraged people to become the perfect man through the purification of mind and body and the great opening of inner man, depending on the metaphysical principle of the Right I Ching. Cheok and Resolution of grievances for the mutual beneficence of all life are what he suggested as a method of the great opening of inner man. Such a view is based on the thought that the accumulated sinful behaviors are obstacles to cosmic change and the time of mutual beneficience opens with the removal of the obstacles. If such religious practices are so effective, as Jeung-San Kang says, that future world could consist of perfect men who have achived the great opening of inner man, moral change, and change of consciousness, we could expect that the activities of xiaoren will be shrinked and junzi will be welcomed, as the Right I Ching predicts.

  • In this study, we developed an autonomous AGV which carries materials between workshops. In most of existing AGV systems, when AGV is required to change its navigating path, the guideline or landmark of AGV should be rebuilt according to new navigating path. Using sensors and internal coordinate system, our AGV, however, can navigate along the new path by only changing input parameters of program. On navigating, if AGV meets obstacles, it avoids them and go on to the destination.

  • As the development of autonomous vehicles becomes realistic, many automobile manufacturers and components producers aim to develop 'completely autonomous driving'. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which has been applied in automobile recently, supports the driver in controlling lane maintenance, speed and direction in a single lane based on limited road environment. Although technologies of obstacles avoidance on the obstacle environment have been developed, they concentrates on simple obstacle avoidances, not considering the control of the actual vehicle in the real situation which makes drivers feel unsafe from the sudden change of the wheel and the speed of the vehicle. In order to develop the 'completely autonomous driving' automobile which perceives the surrounding environment by itself and operates, ability of the vehicle should be enhanced in a way human driver does. In this sense, this paper intends to establish a strategy with which autonomous vehicles behave human-friendly based on vehicle dynamics through the reinforcement learning that is based on Q-learning, a type of machine learning. The obstacle avoidance reinforcement learning proceeded in 5 simulations. The reward rule has been set in the experiment so that the car can learn by itself with recurring events, allowing the experiment to have the similar environment to the one when humans drive. Driving Simulator has been used to verify results of the reinforcement learning. The ultimate goal of this study is to enable autonomous vehicles avoid obstacles in a human-friendly way when obstacles appear in their sight, using controlling methods that have previously been learned in various conditions through the reinforcement learning.

  • An experimental study has been performed to investigate the horseshoe vortex system formed around cylindrical obstacles mounted vertically on the surface over which a boundary layer is formed. To measure the mean velocity of the flow field, a five-hole Pitot tube has been used. In addition, surface static pressure measurements and surface flow visualization were also performed. From the five-hole probe measurements, vorticity distribution was deduced numerically and the streamwise velocity distribution was also examined. To consider the effect of the leading-edge shape on the formation of the horseshoe vortex, a qualitative comparison was made between the three-dimensional flows around a circular cylinder and a wedge-type cylinder. The five-hole probe measurements showed a single primary vortex which exists immediately upstream of the obstacles, and endwall flow visualization showed the existence of a corner vortex. As the vortex passes around the obstacle, the vortex strength is reduced and the vortex core moves radially outward. Due to this horseshoe vortex, the fluid momentum is found to decrease along the streamwise direction. Since the horseshoe vortex formed around a wedge-type cylinder has weaker strength and is confined to a narrower region than that around a circular, the possibility that the secondary flow loss due to the horseshoe vortex can be reduced through a change of the leading- edge shape is proposed.
