장애물 추정 및 클러스터링을 위한 장애물 데이터베이스 관리 모듈 개발: G-eye 관리 시스템 (Development of Obstacle Database Management Module for Obstacle Estimation and Clustering: G-eye Management System)

  • In this paper, we propose the obstacle database management module for obstacle estimation and clustering. The proposed G-eye manager system can create customized walking route for blind people using the UI manager and verify the coordinates of the path. Especially, G-eye management system designed a regional information module. The regional information module can improve the loading speed of the obstacle data by classifying the local information by clustering the coordinates of the obstacle. In this paper, we evaluate the reliability of the walking route generated from the obstacle map. We obtain the coordinate value of the path avoiding the virtual obstacle from the proposed system and analyze the error rate of the path avoiding the obstacle according to the size of the obstacle. And we analyze the correlation between obstacle size and route by classifying virtual obstacles into sizes.

  • In this paper, firstly, we propose a generating method of the 3-D obstacle map using ultrasonic sensors. Secondly, we try to find the necessary stimulation conditions of compact tactile display device for effective transfer of obstacle information. The final goal of this research is the development of a walking guide system for the blind to walk safely. The walking guide system consists of a guide vehicle for the obstacle detection and a tactile display device for the transfer of the obstacle information. The guide vehicle, located in front of the walking blind, detects the obstacle using ultrasonic sensors. The processed information makes an obstacle map and transmits safe path and emergency situation to the blind by the tactile display. The tactile display device, located in the handle which is connected with the guide vehicle by cane, offers the processed obstacle information such as position, size, moving, shape of obstacle and safe path, etc. The concept of a walking guide system with tactile display is introduced, and experiments of 3-D obstacle detection and tactile perception are carried out and analyzed.

  • In walking guide robot, a guide vehicle detects an obstacle distribution in the walking space using range sensors, and generates a 3D grid map to map the obstacle information and the tactile display. And the obstacle information is transferred to a blind pedestrian using tactile feedback. Based on the obstacle information a user plans a walking route and controls the guide vehicle. The algorithm for 3D detection of an obstacle distribution and the method of mapping the generated obstacle map and the tactile display device are proposed in this paper. The experiment for the 3D detection of an obstacle distribution using ultrasonic sensors is performed and estimated. The experimental system consisted of ultrasonic sensors and control system. In the experiment, the detection of fixed obstacles on the ground, the moving obstacle, and the detection of down-step are performed. The performance for the 3D detection of an obstacle distribution and space mapping is verified through the experiment.

레이저 스캐너를 이용한 장애물 탐색 및 분리 알고리즘 개발 (Obstacle Detection and Classification Algorithm using a Laser Scanner)

  • This paper proposes algorithm for the obstacle detection and classification using a single laser scanner. In a measurement data from a laser scanner, there exist points with large differential value called singular points, which can be used to obtain the boundary of an obstacle such that obstacle information can be analyzed. On the other hand, measurement data include a lot of measurement error, which makes it difficult to analyze the accurate obstacle information. To solve this problem, the least square estimation algorithm is used to obtain the accurate information using a single laser scanner, by compensation for the measurement error. This algorithm can be used for the effective obstacle avoidance of mobile robots, and the experimental results are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the propose algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose the sound-mapping algorithm of the detected obstacle by ultrasonic sensors. We apply this algorithm to a Obstacle alarm for the visually impaired. In our system, we acquire obstacles information using ultrasonic sensors, and transform two-dimensional and distance information into sound-imaging information and vibrator with azimuth (direction) and distance. We implement this system with ultrasonic sensors to more effective expression of the obstacle information. The distance of an obstacle can be expressed by sound pressure level, and azimuth of the obstacles can be expressed by inter-aural time difference (ITD) and inter-aural level difference (ILD) that are two important cues in a binaural system. These are the principal cues for sound localization, to detect sound source. In this system, the obstacle is substituted with a sound source. The visually impaired receive sound information of obstacles by headphone.

  • 본 논문에서는 시각장애인을 위한 이동보조시스템을 비교 분석하고, 6개의 장애물 감지 특징을 정리한다. 전통적으로, 시각장애인은 흰 지팡이를 사용하거나 안내견과 함께 보행한다. 최근 IoT 기술의 발달로 시각장애인의 보행을 보조하는 스마트 이동보조시스템이 개발되었다. 이러한 스마트 이동보조시스템은 장애물을 감지하고, 경로를 안내하는 역할을 수행해야 한다. 특히 스마트 이동보조 시스템은 장애물인지 판단하고, 햅틱 피드백을 통해 장애물 정보를 제공한다. 그리고 스마트 시스템은 서버를 구성하여 장애물의 정보를 저장하고, 다른 사용자에게 정보를 공유한다. 또한 저장된 장애물 정보를 통해 사용자 중심의 최적의 경로를 생성하여 시각장애인에게 장애물을 회피할 수 있는 경로를 안내한다. 스마트 이동보조시스템은 기계학습과 인공지능 기술을 적용함으로써 더욱 빠르게 발전할 것이다.

  • This paper presents obstacle avoidance method for scout robot or industrial robot in unknown environment by using IR sensor and vision system. In the proposed method, robots share the information where the obstacles are located in real-time, thus the robots can choose the best path for obstacle avoidance. Using IR sensor and vision system, multiple robots efficiently evade the obstacles by the proposed cooperation method. No landmark is used at wall or floor in experiment environment. The obstacles don't have specific color or shape. To get the information of the obstacle, vision system extracts the obstacle coordinate by using an image labeling method. The information obtained by IR sensor is about the obstacle range and the locomotion direction to decide the optimal path for avoiding obstacle. The experiment was conducted in $7m{\times}7m$ indoor environment with two-wheeled mobile robots. It is shown that multiple robots efficiently move along the optimal path in cooperation with each other in the space where obstacles are located.

A Study on the Sound-Imaging Algorithm of Obstacle Information for the Visually Impaired

  • In this paper, we implemented system to detect obstacle in that develop a guidance robot for the visually impaired through sound. We used ultra sonic sensor to detect obstacle. We supposed the algorithm that classifies distance and direction of obstacle using information that produce correct warning negative sign according to direction and distance of obstacle. According to the experiment, a reagent could detect obstacle without sight information.

전동휠체어 주행안전을 위한 3차원 깊이카메라 기반 장애물검출 (3D Depth Camera-based Obstacle Detection in the Active Safety System of an Electric Wheelchair)

  • Obstacle detection is a key feature in the safe driving control of electric wheelchairs. The suggested obstacle detection algorithm was designed to provide obstacle avoidance direction and detect the existence of cliffs. By means of this information, the wheelchair can determine where to steer and whether to stop or go. A 3D depth camera (Microsoft KINECT) is used to scan the 3D point data of the scene, extract information on obstacles, and produce a steering direction for obstacle avoidance. To be specific, ground detection is applied to extract the obstacle candidates from the scanned data and the candidates are projected onto a 2D map. The 2D map provides discretized information of the extracted obstacles to decide on the avoidance direction (left or right) of the wheelchair. As an additional function, cliff detection is developed. By defining the "cliffband," the ratio of the predefined band area and the detected area within the band area, the cliff detection algorithm can decide if a cliff is in front of the wheelchair. Vehicle tests were carried out by applying the algorithm to the electric wheelchair. Additionally, detailed functions of obstacle detection, such as providing avoidance direction and detecting the existence of cliffs, were demonstrated.

단일 2차원 라이다 기반의 다중 특징 비교를 이용한 장애물 분류 기법 (Obstacle Classification Method using Multi Feature Comparison Based on Single 2D LiDAR)

  • We propose an obstacle classification method using multi-decision factors and decision sections based on Single 2D LiDAR. The existing obstacle classification method based on single 2D LiDAR has two specific advantages: accuracy and decreased calculation time. However, it was difficult to classify obstacle type, and therefore accurate path planning was not possible. To overcome this problem, a method of classifying obstacle type based on width data was proposed. However, width data was not sufficient to enable accurate obstacle classification. The proposed algorithm of this paper involves the comparison between decision factor and decision section to classify obstacle type. Decision factor and decision section was determined using width, standard deviation of distance, average normalized intensity, and standard deviation of normalized intensity data. Experiments using a real autonomous vehicle in a real environment showed that calculation time decreased in comparison with 2D LiDAR-based method, thus demonstrating the possibility of obstacle type classification using single 2D LiDAR.
