정밀 강설량계 개발을 위한 연구 (A Study on the Development of a High Resolution Snow Gauge)

  • 본 연구에서 고안 설계한 적설 관측용 수위 센서는 야외에서 일 변화량은 0.1 mm 내외의 적은 양의 오차를 기록하여 강설관측 센서로 적합한 것으로 판명되었으며, 실내 검정 결과 기상청에서 요구하고 100 mm의 강수 검정범위에 대해서 1%이하의 신뢰성 있는 검정결과를 나타내어 강설량 관측에 적합한 것으로 판명되었다. 또한 $-20^{\circ}C$의 테스트에서도 0.1 mm에 해당하는 아주 작은 변화 값을 타나내어 겨울철 야외환경에도 적합한 것으로 판명되었다. 깔때기가 없으며 수수구의 크기에 제한을 받지 않는 새로운 강수 관측구조는 적은 양의 강설관측이 가능하여 겨울철 예보에 필요한 레이다. 영상과 위성 영상에 의한 강설 연구와 해석에 많은 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한 적설상당수량 관측이 가능하여 수자원 분야의 연구에도 많은 도움이 될 수 있다. 부동액을 사용하므로 고체 상태의 강설에 대해서 직접 관측이 가능하여 강설 관측에 있어 문제점으로 지적이 되고 있는 신적설 관측의 어려움을 해결할 수 있으며, 추후 야외 관측용 모델을 제작하여 야외 환경에서 여타 장비들과 비교 실험을 통해서 성능을 검정하고 개선할 계획이다.

Simultaneous Observation of FUV Aurora with Precipitating Electrons on STSAT-1

  • We present the results offar ultraviolet (FUV, 1350-1750 ${\AA}$) auroral observations made by the Far-ultraviolet IMaging Spectrograph (FIMS) instrument on the Korean microsatellite STSAT-1. The instrument was capable of resolving spatial structures of a few kilometers with the spectral resolution of 2-3 ${\AA}$. The observations were carried out simultaneously with the measurement of precipitating electrons using an electrostatic analyzer (ESA, 100 eV-20 keV) and a solid state telescope (SST, 170 keV-360 keV) on board the same satellite. With a careful mapping of the field lines, we were able to correlate the particle spectrum to the corresponding FUV spectrum of the footprints of the FIMS image that varied significantly in fine scales. We divided the FIMS spectral band into the LBH long (LBHL, 1640-1715 ${\AA}$) and LBH short (LBHS, 1380-1455 ${\AA}$) bands, and compared the electron energies with the intensities of LBHL and LBHS for the well-defined inverted-V structures. The result shows a strong correlation between the total LBH intensity and the energy flux measured by ESAwhile the peak energy itself does not correlate well with the LBH intensity. On the other hand, it was observed that the ratio of the LBHL intensity to that of LBHS increased significantly as the peak electron energy increased, primarily due to a smaller absorption by O2 at LBHL than at LBHS.

수중에서 고유수용성신경근촉진법 하지 패턴이 근력 및 유연성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Lower Extremity Pattern on Muscular Strength and Flexibility in an Aquatic Environment)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to analyze the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation lower extremity pattern on muscular strength and flexibility in an aquatic environment. Methods: Ten members of the experimental group and 10 members of the control group were randomly selected from 20 college students who are in their 20s. Bilateral symmetry pattern among proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation lower extremity patterns was applied in an aquatic environment in the experimental group three times per week for a period of six weeks, and a set consisted of 10 times, which was repeated 10 times. On the other hand, subjects in the control group did not receive any treatment while maintaining daily life. Muscular strength was measured using a dynamometer and electromyogram system for maximum voluntary isometric contraction of hip flexor, hip extensor, knee flexor, and knee extensor. Cervical flexibility was measured using cervical range of motion instrument for cervical flexion, rotation, and lateral flexion. Lumbar flexibility was measured using back range of motion instrument II for lumbar flexion. Results: For the experimental group, significance was observed for hip flexor, extensor, knee flexor, extensor, cervical flexion, rotation, lateral flexion, and lumbar flexion. For the control group, no significance was observed for any other variables except for cervical flexion. As a result of observation of difference between the two groups, relatively high significance was observed in the experimental group, compared with the control group. Conclusion: In conclusion, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation lower extremity pattern had a positive effect on muscular strength and flexibility in an aquatic environment.

마찌니 조반니 파올로 더블베이스의 마감층 재현연구 (A Reproduction Study on Finishing Layer of Double Bass, Maggini Giovanni Paolo)

  • 국내 악기 박물관에 전시되어 있는 악기는 목재, 석재, 금속, 가죽, 흙 등 다양한 재질로 구성되어 있다. 그 중 유기재료로 제작된 악기는 시간 경과에 따라 물리적·화학적·생물학적인 손상이 발생한다. 이러한 악기를 보존·복원하는 경우, 소리를 내는 악기라는 특성상 악기재료의 연구뿐만 아니라 제작자의 의도와 제작기법에 대한 연구가 동시에 진행되어야 한다. 이에 따라 17세기에 제작된 더블베이스를 대상으로 마감층을 연구하였다. 마감층은 표면관찰과 FT-IR, SEM-EDS를 이용한 정성분석을 실시하였고 바탕재인 목재 수종분석을 통해 제작자가 사용한 재료와 제작기법을 확인하였다. 목재 수종은 단풍나무류로 식별되었고 수지의 일종인 곰마라카(Gommalacca)를 주 용매인 알코올로 혼합하여 마감처리를 진행하였다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 마찌니 조반니 파올로(Maggini Giovanni Paolo) 더블베이스 마감층 제작방법을 재현하여 바이올린을 제작하였다.

PRELIMINARY REPORT: DESIGN AND TEST RESULTS OF KSR-3 ROCKET MAGNETOMETERS

  • The solar wind contributes to the formation of unique space environment called the Earth's magnetosphere by various interactions with the Earth's magnetic field. Thus the solar-terrestrial environment affects the Earth's magnetic field, which can be observed with an instrument for the magnetic field measurement, the magnetometer usually mounted on the rocket and the satellite and based on the ground observatory. The magnetometer is a useful instrument for the spacecraft attitude control as well as the Earth's magnetic field measurements for the spacecraft purpose. In this paper, we present the preliminary design and test results of the two onboard magnetometers of KARI's (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) sounding rocket, KSR-3, which will be launched four times during the period of 2001-02. The KSR-3 magnetometers consist of the fluxgate magnetometer, MAG/AIM (Attitude Information Magnetometer) for acquiring the rocket flight attitude information, and of the search-coil magnetometer, MAG/SIM (Scientific Investigation Magnetometer) for the observation of the Earth's magnetic field fluctuations. With the MAG/AIM, the 3-axis attitude information can be acquired by the comparison of the resulting dc magnetic vector field with the IGRF (International Geomagnetic Reference Field). The Earth's magnetic field fluctuations ranging from 10 to 1,000 Hz can also be observed with the MAG/SIM measurement.

Status Report of SPICA/FPC

  • The SPICA (SPace Infrared Telescope for Cosmology & Astrophysics) project is a next-generation infrared space telescope optimized for mid- and far-infrared observation with a cryogenically cooled 3m-class telescope. Owing to unique capability of focal plane instruments onboard SPICA, it will enable us to resolve many astronomical key issues from the star-formation history of the universe to the planetary formation. The FPC (Focal Plane Camera) is a Korean-led near-infrared instrument as an international collaboration. Korean consortium for FPC proposed a key instrument responsible for a fine guiding (FPC-G). The back-up of FPC-G will make scientific observations as well. We have examined the legacy science programs for FPC and performed the feasibility study for the fine guiding system. Recently, the international review process is now in progress, in order to make a selection of the focal plane instruments. Here, we report the current status of SPICA/FPC project.

집중치료 후 증후군의 신체적 장애 측정도구에 관한 체계적 고찰 (Instruments to Assess Physical Impairments in Post-Intensive Care Syndrome: A Systematic Review)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to systematically review the instruments utilized to assess physical impairment in post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) of intensive care unit (ICU) survivors. Method : Online databases searched were MEDLINE, Cochrane, CINAHL, and Embase. Studies that met the following criteria were included: 1) the study population exclusively had experience with ICU admission; 2) the study assessed pulmonary, neuromuscular, and physical functions; and 3) the study was published in English language journals after 2007. Results : A total of 56 instruments (2 pulmonary, 25 neuromuscular, 29 physical function) from 94 studies were reviewed. They were classified into self-report, observation, and measurement according to the type of assessment. No instrument measured all 3 areas of physical impairment. Five instruments were originally developed for the ICU patients. The most frequently applied instruments were the Medical Research Council and the 36-item Short Form Survey (physical component summary), which were used in 23 studies each. Only 13.8% of reviewed studies reported the reliability or validity of the instruments. Conclusion : Our results suggest that the appropriateness of instruments assessing physical impairment in PICS cannot be guaranteed. Despite the multidimensional concept of physical disabilities, most studies measured only one area, and studies that reported psychometric properties were limited. Accordingly, we propose to develop a unique and multifaceted instrument for ICU survivors.

돕슨 분광광도계를 이용한 서울 상공의 오존층 감시 및 장기변화 경향(1985~2017) (Monitoring and Long-term Trend of Total Column Ozone from Dobson Spectrophotometer in Seoul (1985~2017))

  • Since 1985, the Dobson Spectrophotometer has been operated at Yonsei University, and this instrument has monitored the daily representative total ozone in Seoul. Climatological value for total ozone in Seoul is updated by using the daily representative observation data from 1985 to 2017. After updating the daily representative total ozone data, seasonal and inter-annual variation of total ozone in Seoul is also estimated after calculating inter-comparison between ground (Dobson Spectrophotometer) and satellite [Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI)] observations. The global average of total ozone measured by satellite is 297 DU, and its recent amount is about 3.5% lower than the global amount in 1980s. In Seoul, daily representative total ozone is ranged from 225 DU to 518 DU with longterm mean value of 324.3 DU. In addition, monthly mean total ozone is estimated from 290 DU (October) to 362 DU (March), and yearly average of total ozone have been continuously increased since 1985. For the long-term trend of total ozone in Seoul, this study is considered the seasonal variation, Solar Cycle, and Quasi-Biennial Oscillation. In addition to the natural oscillation effect, this study also considered to the long-term variation of sudden increase of total ozone due to the secondary ozone peak. By considering these natural effects, the long-term total ozone trends from 1985 to 2017 are estimated to be 1.11~1.46%/decade.

북한 학술지에 실린 태양 연구 활동 분석 (ANALYSIS OF SOLAR RESEARCH ACTIVITIES PUBLISHED IN NORTH KOREAN JOURNALS)

  • We have analyzed 42 research papers regarding on the solar astronomy written by North Korea scientists to investigate the current status of astronomical activities in North Korea. The papers are surveyed from the 'Bulletin of Astronomy', the 'Physics', the 'Bulletin of Academy of Science', and the 'Natural Science' in North Korea, and SCI journals. In addition, we refer to the presentation material announced in the 2015 IAU by director of Pyongyang Astronomical Observatory (PAO) and the 2013 OAD/IAU reports. We have analyzed the papers statistically according to three criteria such as research subject, research field, and research members. The main research subjects are the sunspot (28%), observation system (21%), and space environments (19%). The research fields are distributed with data analysis (50%), numerical method (29%), and instrument development (21%). There have been 25 and 9 researchers in the solar astronomy and space environment, respectively since 1995. North Korea's solar research activities were also investigated in three area: instrument, solar physics, and international research linkage. PAO has operated two of sunspot telescope and solar horizontal telescope for spectroscopy and polarimetry, but there is no specific information on solar radio telescopes. North Korea has cooperated in solar research with Europe and China. We expect that the results of this study will be used as useful resource in supporting astronomical cooperation between South and North Korea in the future.

독도 MIROS Wave Radar를 이용한 파랑관측 및 품질관리 (Measurement and Quality Control of MIROS Wave Radar Data at Dokdo)

  • 해양에서의 파랑관측은 부이나 압력계 등을 이용하여 수면변위를 관측하는 직접관측방법과 Radar를 이용하여 관측하는 원격관측방법으로 구분된다. 직접관측방법은 정확도가 높지만, 악기상 시 파손 및 유실 위험이 크며 외해 설치 시 많은 유지 보수비용이 필요하다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 반면 Radar와 같은 원격관측방법은 장비를 육지에 계류하여 유지관리가 용이하지만 직접관측방법과 비교하면 정확도가 다소 낮은 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 원격파랑관측자료의 품질을 개선하기 위해 독도에 설치되어 운영 중인 MIROS Wave and Current Radar(MWR) 관측자료의 수집 및 분석을 하였으며, 이를 기상청에서 운영 중인 해양파고부이(CWB)의 관측자료와 비교하였다. 그리고 MWR 관측자료의 품질을 개선하기 위해 1) MIROS사에서 개발한 필터(Reduce Noise Frequency, Phillips Check, Energy Level Check)의 복합적인 사용(최적필터; Optimal Filter), 2) OOI(Ocean Observatories Initiative)에서 개발한 Spike Test 알고리즘(Spike Test) 그리고 3) 유의파고-주기 관계식을 이용한 새로운 필터(H-Ts QC)를 사용하여 신뢰도가 낮은 이상자료(Noise; 시계열 자료 중 급격하게 자료가 발산하여 정상자료가 아닌 것으로 판단되는 자료)의 제거 및 보정을 수행하였다. 결과적으로 3가지의 품질관리기법을 적용한 MWR의 파랑관측자료는 유의파고에 대해서는 일정 부분 신뢰도를 가지지만 유의파주기에서는 여전히 오차가 존재하며 이에 대한 개선이 요구된다. 또한, MWR의 파랑관측자료는 3 m 이상의 고파랑에서는 CWB와 다소 양상이 달라지는 한계가 발생하므로 이를 위한 장기간의 원격파랑관측 자료의 수집과 분석, 그리고 필터 개발 등에 관한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다.
