Primary fixation is one of the most important factor in establishing adequate osseointegration between implant and bone. To evaluate the initial healing response of bone around implants without primary bone contact, this study was designed to create considerable space between implant and bone in 5 mongrel dogs, about 1-year old. After 3 holes of 6.0mm in diameter were prepared at the femur neck of the dogs, commercially pure titanium thread type implants(STERI-$OSS^{(R)}$), 8mm in length and 3.8mm, 5.0mm and 6.0mm in diameter, were inserted. Implants were supported by only nonresorbable membrane($Teflon^{(R)}$), and the penetration of upper soft tissue into the gap was inhibited by it. The each implant was positioned in the center of the drilled hole. 9 implants with different diameters were inserted in 3 dogs for histologic observation, and 12 were inserted in 2 dogs for mobility test and removal torque test.Fluorescent dyes were injected in order of Doxycycline, Alizarin Red S, and Calcein at intervals of 2 weeks. At 4-, 8-, and 12-week after placement, 3 dogs were sacrificed for histologic observation, and at 8- and 12-week after placement, 2 dogs were sacrificed for mobility test using $Periotest^{(R)}$ (Simens AG, Bensheim, Germany) and torque test using Autograph AGS-1000D $series^{(R)}$(Japan). The result were as follows: 1. The wider the gap between bone and implant was, the less bone maturity was, and the later osseointegration was occurred. Trabecular direction of new bone around implant was changed from parallel to perpendicular to the implant, and the gap was filled with new bone, over time. 2. There was a decreasing tendency over time in the mobility of all implants, but the wider gap between bone and implant was, the smaller decrease of the mobility was. 3. There was a increasing tendency over time in the removal torque gauge of all implants, and the wider gap was, the smaller increase of the removal torque gauge was. The results suggest that osseointegration in case of implant without primary bone contact may be obtained by guided bone regeneration technique with prolonged healing period, but the time of second surgery should be considered carefully.
Histological observation of micropore-originated haploid rice callus was reported previously. Present study was attempted to clarify the growth or development of the calli when they were transferred to differentiation media prepared exclusively for differentiation of plantlets. When the callus was transferred to differentiation medium, the cells and tissues became radially elongated. Meristematic tissues were present but few in number, and their structures were quite different from those grown in the propagaton medium. Differentiation of tracheid, chloroplast, and epidermis-like cell layer, and formation of gap in the callus tissue were more conspicuous in differentiation media. Approximately ten days after transfer of callus to differentiation medium, plantlet was formed.

The excitonic insulator (EI), which is one of fundamental insulators, was theoretically proposed in 1967 but its material realization has not been established well. Only a few materials were proposed as EIs but their experimental evidences were indirect such as the renormalization of band dispersions or an anomaly in electrical resistivity. We conducted scanning tunneling microscopy / spectroscopy measurements and found out that $Ta_2$$NiSe_5$, which was the most recently proposed as an EI, had a metal-insulator phase transition with the energy gap of 700 meV at 78 K. Moreover, the spatially delocalized excitonic energy level was observed within the energy gap, which could be the direct evidence of the EI ground state. Our theoretical model calculation with the order parameter of 150 meV reproduces the spectral function and the excitonic energy gap very well. In addition, experimental data shows that the band character is inverted at the valence and conduction band edges by the exciton formation, indicating that the mechanism of exciton condensation is similar to the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) mechanism of cooper pairs in superconductors.

Ozone is a powerful disinfectant and oxidizing agent, and it is used in a wide range of applications, such as waste water treatment, food processing, etc.. There is also a great potential of using ozone in new emerging medical applications, such as ozone dentistry and ozone oxygen therapy. For these purposes, simple, small, compact and efficient sources of ozone are needed. In this study, in order to increase the current-voltage range of the discharge and to avoid the overheating of the gas in the ozonizer we suggested ozonizer of injection needle and plate electrode type(INP Type) with the gas through the needle. A ozonizer of INP type have been investigated by focusing on ozone concentration and yield according to flow rates and Gap of two electrodes. The results of studies of ozone production for DC corona discharge in oxygen at atmospheric pressure about the ozonizer of INP type. The ozone concentration and the generation yield increased as the gap of two electrodes and gas flow were decreased. Also, when the gap of two electrodes and gas flow with no change, the ozone concentration and generation yield each have variation of direct proportion and inverse proportion with discharge voltage.
We constructed a TEA $N_2$ laser which consists of spark gap, pulse type high voltage power supply, Blumlein transmission line circuit, laser tube with Ernst electrode. We observed the self-preionization with an optical fiber in the spark gap and laser tube. The higher voltage power supplied to the Blumlein transmission line circuit, the better preionization was. An U-type transformer yielded better stability and output power than an I-type transformer. The discharge time after triggering a spark gap for the U-type transformer was also short. We obtained the stability of $2.7\%$ and output power of $36{\mu}J$ when the optimum conditions of the laser operation were spark gap distance of 6.0 mm, electrode distance in laser tube of 5.0 mm, $N_2$ gas flow rate in spark gap of 1500 cc/min, $N_2$ gas flow rate in laser tube of 4 ${\iota}$/min, output window reflectivity of $40\%$ and repetition rate of 10 Hz.

The fit between dental implant fixture and zirconia abutment is affected by many variables during the fabrication process by CAD/CAM program and milling working. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the surface compatibility and electrochemical behaviors of zirconia abutment for prosthodontics. Zirconia abutments were prepared and fabricated using zirconia block and milling machine. For stabilization of zirconia abutments, sintering was carried out at $1500^{\circ}F$ for 7 hrs. The specimens were cut and polished for gap observation. The gap between dental implant fixture and zirconia abutment was observed using field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The hardness and corrosion resistance of zirconia abutments were observed with vickers hardness tester and potentiostat. The gap between dental implant fixture and zirconia abutment was $5{\sim}12{\mu}m$ for small gap, and $40{\sim}60{\mu}m$ for large gap. The hardness of zirconia surface was 1275.5 Hv and showed micro-machined scratch on the surface. The corrosion potentials of zirconia abutment/fixture was .290 mV and metal abutment/fixture was .280 mV, whereas $|E_{pit}-E_{corr}|$ of zirconia abutment/fixture (172 mV) was higher than that of metal abutment/fixture (150 mV). The corrosion morphology of metal abutment/fixture showed the many pit on the surface in compared with zirconia abutment/fixture.
This case study aims to investigate how a primary English teacher's professional development was pursued through novice teacher mentoring after the six-month intensive in-service teacher training program(IIETTP). The teacher was involved in mentoring two novice teachers working at the same school. They observed each other's classes and exchanged their views on the classes, focusing on areas to be improved. The observation was done within a framework that consisted of pre-, during- and post-observation sessions. Data was gathered through retrospective entries kept after the post-observation meetings. The entries were categorized according to their saliency, frequency and recurring patterns identified. The findings reveal that learning from the training course could be applied professionally and could serve to bridge the gap between training and teaching. It is also shown that the mentee teachers' professional development was enhanced and the mentor teacher herself benefited from the collaborative learning process involved with working with the novice teachers. Some suggestions are made for the effective implementation of school-based teacher development programs after the IIETTP.
In a service environment, the spatial layout is an important factor that has a great impact on customers' behavioral characteristics including wayfinding and purchasing. Previous studies have shown a gap between marketing, focusing solely on profitability and satisfaction, and architecture, looking only into efficiency of pedestrian flow. To balance such disparity, this study suggests an integrated approach for assessing behavioral patterns in complex service environments. With the objective that complex service environments should aim to increase its profitability and efficiency while guaranteeing customer satisfaction, quantitative metrics was developed for evaluation. The metrics was defined to use data from behavior observation including path tracking, population counting, and gaze analysis, while previous studies have relied on abstract survey methods that were prone to sampling errors and loss of data. For validation of the metrics in a real world setting, a case study was conducted at 4 train stations in Korea. In the case study, experiments were conducted to gather the required data in all 4 train stations, while their physical layouts were also analyzed. With the results from the case study, comparative evaluation of the 4 train stations in terms of behavioral efficiency was possible, together with a discussion on the effect of their physical settings.

The objective of this study was to assess the meteorological capability of Korea by comparing with that of the U.S. and Japan as of 2010. The research was conducted based on various indices and surveys, and quantified the results using the Gordon's scoring model. The index assessment used 11 items derived from 9 segments - surface observation, advanced observation and observations quality in the observation field; data assimilation, numerical model and infrastructure in the data processing field; forecast accuracy in the forecast field; climate prediction and climate change in the climate field - in this research, we classified the meteorological technology into four fields. In the survey assessment, another 10 items in addition to the above 11 ones (total 21 items) were used. In the field of climate, Korea was found to lag far behind the U.S. (96.5p) and Japan (90.5p) with 77.6 points out of 100, which is 18.9 and 12.9 points lower than them respectively. On the other hand, Korea showed the narrowest gap with Japan (95.3p) and the U.S. (94.2) in the forecasting field, recording 90.3 points. Particularly, in surface observation, infrastructure and forecast accuracy segment, Korea was on a par with the U.S. and Japan, boasting 100.5 percent compared to their counterparts. However, in advanced observation, data quality and climate change segment, Korea was only at the level of 81.5 percent compared to that of the U.S. and Japan. All in all, the technological prowess of Korea, scoring 84.6 points, stood at 89.7 percent of that of the U.S. (94.3p) and 91.9 percent of Japan (92.1p).
In order to investigate downslope windstorm by using more detailed observation, we observed 6 cases at 3 sites - Inje, Yongpyeong, and Bukgangneung - during "3-D Meteorological Observation Project in Yeongdong region of Gangwon province, South Korea in 2020." The results from analysis of the project data were as follows. First, AWS data showed that a subsidence inversion layer appeared in 800~700 hPa on the windward side and 900~850 hPa on the leeward side. Second, before strong wind occurred, the inversion layer had descended to about 880~800 hPa. Third, with mountain wave breaking, downslope wind was intensified at the height of 2~3 km above sea level. After the downslope wind began to descend, the subsidence inversion layer developed. When the subsidence inversion layer got close to the ground, wind peak occurred. In general, UM (Unified Model) GDAPS (Global Data Assimilation Prediction System) have had negative bias in wind speed around peak area of Taebaek mountain range, and positive bias in that of East Sea coast area. The stronger wind blew, the larger the gap between observed and predicted wind speed by GDAPS became. GDAPS predicted strong p-velocity at 0600 LST 25 Apr 2020 (4th case) and weak p-velocity at 2100 LST 01 Jun 2020 (6th case) on the lee-side of Taebaek mountain range near Yangyang. As hydraulic jump theory was proved, which is known as a mechanism of downslope windstorm in Yeongdong region, it was confirmed that there is a relationship between p-velocity of lee-side and wind speed of eastern slope of Taebaek mountain range.
