A renal oncocytoma was diagnosed in an 8-year-old female Maltese dog with a history of renal cysts. Tumor cells were not detected until six months after observation of renal cysts. Nephrectomy was performed to treat the neoplasia. Tumor-like masses with numerous nodules were observed in the inner surface of cysts present in the caudal part of the left kidney. Histologically, the tumor consisted of cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. The diagnosis was based on histological features, periodic acid-Schiff reaction, and immunohistochemical cytokeratin staining. Based on a literature review, this is the first canine renal oncocytoma case reported in Korea.
A 15-year-old Schnauzer, showing right exophthalmos, was diagnosed as adenocarcinoma originated from the third eyelid gland. On computed tomography, a normal right third eyelid gland was not observed. Instead, a heterogeneous cystic mass invaded the retrobulbar space and displaced the eye globe dorsolaterally. In addition, lysis of the bony nasolacrimal duct was found, which was considered the tumor invasion. These findings indicated that third eyelid gland adenocarcinoma should be considered when a retrobulbar mass is found ventromedial to the globe without observation of the normal third eyelid and accompanies osteolysis of the bony nasolacrimal duct in dogs showing exophthalmos.
The density and strength of wood is affected by degradations and defects, such as voids and knots. Old wooden structures such as traditional cultural properties have been deteriorated by these types of defects. They were evaluated by a visual observation that is difficult to evaluate the inner deterioration in structures. In this study, three nondestructive testing techniques were investigated to detect the wooden structural members. Ultrasonic stress wave tests, drilling resistance tests and visual inspections were used to examine the structural wood members. Patterns of Resistograph using by drilling resistance tests could indicate the features of internal wood such as voids, knots, decay, fungi, and so on. The technique just like as ultrasonic stress wave tests, however, difficult to detect exactly area where small amounts of internal deterioration in logs are. In spite of results of ultrasonic stress wave test, the internal deterioration of wooden structural members could be evaluated by the relationship between ultrasonic stress wave tests and drilling resistance tests.

In order to achieve this goal, we consider the following issues: a retrospective analysis of the concepts of "giftedness", "intellectually gifted personality"; the experience of working with gifted youth abroad is analyzed; features of work with gifted student youth are revealed; educational and methodological support and practical work with gifted students are analyzed; an empirical study was conducted to determine the attitude of gifted youth to organizational forms of work with them; developed a scientific circle as a form of work with intellectually gifted student youth. A set of methods is used, in particular: theoretical methods: comparison, analysis, synthesis and generalization; empirical methods: analysis of documentation and results of pedagogical activity, observation.
In this paper, finite element method is applied to solve boundary control problem governed by elliptic variational inequality with an infinite number of variables. First, we introduce some important features of the finite element method, boundary control problem governed by elliptic variational inequalities with an infinite number of variables in the case of the control and observation are on the boundary is introduced. We prove the existence of the solution by using the augmented Lagrangian multipliers method. A triangular type finite element method is used.
Two rare ciliates from soil under the oak tree and mosses in the top of mountain in Korea were identified as Gonostomum algicola Gellert, 1942 and G. gonostomoida (Hemberger, 1985), respectively. There is little information on their morphological features, therefore their detailed redescriptions are needed. The description was based on the observation of living and protargol impregnated specimens, and biometric analysis. Their diagnostic characteristics are as follows. Gonostomum algicola; $88-113\times30-40{\mu}m$ in vivo, colourless cortical granules, 20-31 adoral membranelles, two fronto-terminal cirri, five fronto-ventral cirri, no mid-ventral cirri, two transverse cirri, two to three micronuceli. Gonostomum gonostomoida; $60-121\times21-40{\mu}m$ in vivo, no cortical granules, 27-34 adoral membranelles, no fronto-terminal cirri, two fronto-ventral cirral rows with each row bearing three cirri, midventral cirral row with 11-14 cirri, two to three transverse cirri, one to six micronuceli. So far, total three species within the genus Gonostomum have been recorded from Korea by the present study.
In a ΛCDM universe, most galaxies are believed to evolve by mergers and accretions. The debris resulting from such processes remains faint and/or diffuse structures, such as tidal streams and stellar halos. Although these structures are a good indicator of the recent mass assembly history of galaxies, they have the disadvantage of being difficult to observe due to their low surface brightness (LSB). To recover these LSB features by reducing the photometric uncertainties introduced by the optics system, we attempt to develop an optimized telescope, called a linear astigmatism free-three mirror system, that minimizes the loss and scattering of light within the telescope. With that prototype, we observe NGC 5907, known as a nearby galaxy with a fabulous loop structure(s), to inspect its performance. After a dedicated data reduction process, including flat-fielding with dark sky flat and sky subtraction, our observation reaches a 1σ surface brightness limit of μlim,r ≃ 28.3 mag arcsec-2 in 10×10 arcsec boxes. We finally identify a single tidal stream that is likely the remnant of a nearly disrupted galaxy. This finding emphasizes that the capability of LSB detection with our telescope is comparable to that of much larger telescopes.
The ability to understand given environments and plan a sequence of actions leading to goal state is crucial for personal service robots. With recent advancements in deep learning, numerous studies have proposed methods for state representation in planning. However, previous works lack explicit information about relationships between objects when the state observation is converted to a single visual embedding containing all state information. In this paper, we introduce graph-based state representation that incorporates both object and relationship features. To leverage these advantages in addressing the task planning problem, we propose a Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based subgoal prediction model. This model can extract rich information about object and their interconnected relationships from given state graph. Moreover, a search-based algorithm is integrated with pre-trained subgoal prediction model and state transition module to explore diverse states and find proper sequence of subgoals. The proposed method is trained with synthetic task dataset collected in simulation environment, demonstrating a higher success rate with fewer additional searches compared to baseline methods.
Cyllorhynchites ursulus drills holes in acorn and cuts branches with mandibles. To understand this special behavior, we observed the mouthpart of this species using several microscope methods. The stereoscopic microscope used in this study shows that the adductor tendon is thicker than the abductor tendon which confirms that mandibles exert more force pulling inwards than pushing outwards. Also, the shape and position differences were observed using an optical microscope. We found differences of the shape, position, and movement of mandibles among C. ursulus, Curculio sikkimensis and Paracycnotrachelus longiceps by way of observation using SEM. The width of the adductor tendon and the abductor tendon of males of the C. ursulus species was 32.87 ㎛, and 53.83 ㎛, respectively. And, the width of females was 40.81 ㎛ and 75.55 ㎛, respectively. Based on a variety of observations and analyses, we found that the unusual behavior of C. ursulus is deeply related to the morphological features, and these features could be applied to biomimicry.
There are many kinds of microscopes suitable for general studies; optical microscopes(OM), conventional transmission electron microscopes (TEM), and scanning electron microscopes(SEM). The optical microscopes and the conventional transmission electron microscopes are very familiar. The images of these microscopes are directly formed on an image plane with one or more image forming lenses. On the other hand, the image of the scanning electron microscope is formed on a fluorescent screen of a cathode ray tube using a scanning system similar to television technique. In this paper, the features and some applications of the scanning electron microscope will be discussed briefly. The recently available scanning electron microscope, combining a resolution of about $200{\AA}$ with great depth of field, is favorable when compared to the replica technique. It avoids the problem of specimen damage and the introduction of artifacts. In addition, it permits the examination of many samples that can not be replicated, and provides a broader range of information. The scanning electron microscope has found application in diverse fields of study including biology, chemistry, materials science, semiconductor technology, and many others. In scanning electron microscopy, the secondary electron method. the backscattererd electron method, and the electromotive force method are most widely used, and the transmitted electron method will become more useful. Change-over of magnification can be easily done by controlling the scanning width of the electron probe. It is possible. to continuously vary the magnification over the range from 100 times to 1.00,000 times without readjustment of focusing. Conclusion: With the development of a scanning. electron microscope, it is now possible to observe almost all-information produced through interactions between substances and electrons in the form of image. When the probe is properly focused on the specimen, changing magnification of specimen orientation does not require any change in focus. This is quite different from the conventional transmission electron microscope. It is worthwhile to note that the typical probe currents of $10^{-10}$ to $10^{-12}\;{\AA}$ are for below the $10^{-5}$ to $10^{-7}\;{\AA}$ of a conventional. transmission microscope. This reduces specimen contamination and specimen damage due to heatings. Outstanding features of the scanning electron microscope include the 'stereoscopic observation of a bulky or fiber specimen in high resolution' and 'observation of potential distribution and electromotive force in semiconductor devices'.
