  • This research was to identify housing identity expressed on entrance features In Korean single detached houses. The data were collected from field study and content analysis method of 45 houses in Chonju city. The methods of observation, of measuring the size, of sketching. and of Photos of entrance feature in the single detached houses were used for this study. Results of this study were as follows. First. the height and the form both of main gate and of wall tended to be closed. In particular. the size of main gate tended to be shown off rather than having practical funtion. whereas the form of main gate were semi-opened and thus could not guaranteed privacy of the residents very well. Second, 53.3% of the direction of main entrance were found to be at right-an91e0 with main gate, which reflected the control needs of private life. Third. the balance of main gate and exterior was homogeneous, which expressed the increase of aethetic concern of exterior Finally. most of entrance approach were made of stones and bricks. This result indicated that the practical funtion of entrance approach was emphasized the emotional environment was not considered in building the entrance approach.

  • Gamma ray burst, the most brightest explosion phenomena in the current universe is well suited for study of high redshift universe. We report the afterglow multi-wavelength observation and GTC spectroscopy follow up of GRB 140304A which was exploded at z=5.283. The spectrum was shown damped Lyman alpha features and a series of absorption lines S, Si, SiII*, Oi, CII, CII*, SiIV are clearly detected at common redshift. Clear optical flares are detected when X-ray flare happened and a possible gamma-ray excess also. At this conference, we report on implications for the GRB host and environments using its absorption features which place the results in context to other well studied high redshift GRBs and studies about the ejecta using its observed flaring activities.

  • Ellerman bombs(EBs) are emission features at the wings of the H alpha spectral line. They are believed to be a kind of a magnetic reconnection feature in the low chromosphere or near photosphere. It was previously reported that surges often occur in association with EBs. However, previous observations were restricted to imaging observation. Using Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph installed in New Solar Telescope at Big Bear Solar Observatory, California, we observed 5 EBs and associated surges with high-spatial and high-spectral resolutions. In this presentation, we will show the results and discuss the physical properties.

  • The KOMPSAT-2 DCSU(the data compression & storage unit) performs the acquisition of image data from cameras, the compression with requested compression rate, the storage with specified file ID on the mission command and the distribution to the assigned DLS(Data Link System) channels per the mission and operation requirements. The worldwide observation using the MSC is able to be achieved by this DCSU's behavior. This paper presents the features of KOMPSAT-2 DCSU and provides proper ground operation concept after launch.

  • Time series satellite image data were used to discuss the possibility of the industrialization of the Kunsan area. The satellite observation was performed from 1979 to 1987 and it revealed a big change in the geographical features due to the rapid development of this area. From the previous experience regarding the industrialization of the coastal district of the Seto Inland Sea, the Kunsan area is very promising as an industrialized world trade center.

  • New cotidal charts of the Tusima Strait has been edited by ODAMAKI (1989a) using tidal current observation data. For the semidiurnal tide as shown in Fig.1, two distinctive features are detected. One is an anti-amphidromic area located in the south coast of Korea. Another is the amplitude gap between west and east coasts of the Tusima.(omitted)

  • Galaxy clusters host Mpc-scale diffuse radio emission giving us evidence of large-scale magnetic fields in the Universe. It is relevant to understand magnetic field amplification processes occurring at the center and outskirts of galaxy clusters. Each of these processes are believed to give rise to observed radio haloes and radio relics, respectively. In this work, we focus on studying the continuum and polarised emission in radio relics. We use threedimensional magnetohydrodynamical simulations of merger shock waves propagating through a magnetized, turbulent intracluster medium. Our model includes the diffusive shock acceleration (DSA) of cosmic ray electrons, their spatial advection and energy losses at run-time. We discuss the relation between the mock observation features and the underlying morphology of the magnetic field.

  • Techniques for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy are advancing to facilitate lesion detection and improve prognosis. However, most early tumors in the upper gastrointestinal tract exhibit subtle color changes or morphological features that are difficult to detect using white light imaging. Linked color imaging (LCI) has been developed to overcome these shortcomings; it expands or reduces color information to clarify color differences, thereby facilitating the detection and observation of lesions. This article summarizes the characteristics of LCI and advances in LCI-related research in the upper gastrointestinal tract field.

  • When typhoons passed around the Korea Strait, some observation in this strait carried out by Mizuno et al. (1986) gives us the following oceanographic features; 1) the direction of the observed current was opposite to the northeasterly wind, 2) temperature rapidly increased having a time lag as the depth deepens, after then decreased with oscillation. A primitive equation ocean model that makes use of a sigma-coordinate system and incorporates a typhoon model was used to examine the mechanism to generate these phenomena. The model region covers the East China Sea, the Yellow Sea, and a portion of the East Sea (Japan Sea). The model well reproduces the observed features, especially in temperature field, and clearly manifests how the above observed features happened. From early time when the typhoon was located in low latitude, an alongshore northward current in the west of Kyushu (hereafter the West Kyushu Current) is generated by an alongshore wind in the typhoon. This current flows into the eastern channel, as a coastal jet, regardless to the wind field within the Korea Strait during this period. The above observed phenomena are generated by this current. The model results indicate that when typhoons pass around the Korea Strait, the West Kyushu Current is generated, and oceanographic condition in the strait should be greatly influenced by this current.

  • Noonan syndrome is characterized by short stature, typical facial dysmorphology, and congenital heart defects. The main facial features of Noonan syndrome are hypertelorism with down-slanting palpebral fissures, ptosis, and low-set posteriorly-rotated ears with a thickened helix. The cardiovascular defects most commonly associated with this condition are pulmonary stenosis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Other associated features are webbed neck, chest deformity, mild intellectual deficit, cryptorchidism, poor feeding in infancy, bleeding tendency, and lymphatic dysplasias. The patient is a 10-year-old boy. He had experienced repeated febrile convulsions. He had typical facial features, a short stature, chest deformity, cryptorchidism, vesicoureteral reflux, and mental retardation. His language and motor development were delayed. When he went to school, it was difficult for him to pay attention, follow directions, and organize tasks. He also displayed behavior such as squirming, leaving his seat in class, and running around inappropriately. Clinical observation is important for the diagnosis, so we report a patient who was diagnosed with Noonan syndrome, mental retardation, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.
