  • This study deals with development of transformation tool for transformation of digital map coordinates systems using by the best fit transformation parameters which are determined between the local geodetic datum and geocentric datum (ITRF2000) in Korea and distortion modelling derived from collocation method. We used 107 control points as a common points. For analyzing the derived parameters, another 83 common points are tested. Finally, the best fit parameters are determined from Molodensky-Badekas model after considering the RMSE, maximum value, minimum values, and 95% confidence interval of residuals. after transformation of best fit parameters and distortion modelling, we could develop transformation tools with advenced accuracy. so it is possible to perform on transformation of digital map with scale 1:5,000. and we tested accuracy eveluation through analysis between transformation results and field results of GPS observation.

  • In this study, positioning results that combined the code observation information of GPS and GLONASS navigation satellites were analyzed. Especially, the distribution of GLONASS satellites observed in Korea and the combined GPS/GLONASS positioning results were presented. The GNSS data received at two reference stations (GRAS in Europe and KOHG in Goheung, Korea) during a day were processed, and the mean value and root mean square (RMS) value of the position error were calculated. The analysis results indicated that the combined GPS/GLONASS positioning did not show significantly improved performance compared to the GPS-only positioning. This could be due to the inter-system hardware bias for GPS/GLONASS receivers, the selection of transformation parameters between reference coordinate systems, the selection of a confidence level for error analysis, or the number of visible satellites at a specific time.

  • Since Black Monday there has been a rash of systems developments which aimed at automating and upgrading the surveillance mechanism of monitoring the many facets of security trading. A more sophisticated mathematical model for detecting abnormal trading activities was created by Davis and Ord of Penn State along with Nobel prize laureates Solow and Modigliani of MIT. They used CAPM(Capital Asset Pricing Model) to explain the movements of stock price and applied an idea of residuals to detect unusual movements. In this paper, their idea is discussed and a new method is proposed, which involves a confidence interval of future observation in linear regression. One of the examples of the stock watch system adopting this statistical method is also presented.

  • With the serial observation data and the tidal records at Busan and Izuhara from 1966 to 1973, the geostrophic current velocity and its relation to the difference of mean sea level of both sides were studied in order to estimate indirectly the average current velocity from the tidal observations. The results shows that the current velocity is estimated by the relationship V=4.016(H-98.3) with the 95% confidence limits of V 4.2 cm/sec. Ther relationship between the observed current velocity and the simultaneous daily mean sea level difference shows a similar result, V=4.717(H-99.6). The two equations were applied to the evaluation of annual variations of current velocity from the average monthly mean sea level data of both stations.

  • The geological research as a part of HLW disposal program in Korea is carried out to provide necessary data for the establishment of the reference repository system in term of design and safety assessment in the crystalline rock terrains. Six deep boreholes were drilled to obtain hydrogeological and hydrochemical data from Jurassic granites in the Yuseong area, Korea. The core observation, televiewer logging and hydraulic testing were carried out during and after drilling and multi-packer system were installed in the boreholes of 500m depth for hydraulic and hydrochemical monitoring including environmental isotopes. The integration of hydrogeochemical and hydrodynamic data would be built greater confidence for the understanding of groundwater system in fractured rock mass. This geoscientific program could be possible to suggest a general guideline to develop the reference disposal concept of high-level radioactive waste in Korea.

  • Investigations on the symbolic role, spiritual health benefits and efficacy of the clothing items of the Ga wolomo (chief priest) have received little attention. Highlighting the relevance of these clothes, this paper focuses on the chief priest's dress code for his appointment, confinement, ordination, ceremonial and daily life activities. Data were collected through content analysis, participant observation and interviews with people from selected Ga communities, such as La, Teshie and Ga Mashie. The findings revealed that the selection of the chief priest is confirmed with a special clothing item. His traditional clothes and adornment also have meanings, importance and symbolic interpretations; explained in their uses, colour and style. As the spiritual head, the role of the chief priest's costume is very distinguished and symbolic in executing his duties; protecting, strengthening faith, confidence and assurance during spiritual healing, and when solving pertinent problems in the community. The paper concludes by recommending further research and documentation on other aspects of the Ga clothing culture, such as hand items and hair styles from the pre-colonial period to the present.

  • This study focused on the lives of working mothers in its examination of the meaning of an employer supported educare center. Ethnographic methods including participant observation, in-depth interview, and the analysis of documents were used for the case study at D educare center where management has been entrusted to K University. Results showed that employer supported educare center had significant meanings in the lives of working mothers. Meanings consisted of stories about relieving time conflicts, adapting themselves to life space, putting confidence in the educare center, and organizing community. Meanings gained from this study suggest that D educare center could be a model for employer supported educare centers focused on the lives of working mothers.

  • This paper proposes a new class of distribution using the concept of exponentiated of distribution function that provides a more flexible model to the baseline model. It also proposes a new lifetime distribution with different types of hazard rates such as decreasing, increasing and bathtub. After studying some basic statistical properties and parameter estimation procedure in case of complete sample observation, we have studied point and interval estimation procedures in presence of type-II censored samples under a classical as well as Bayesian paradigm. In the Bayesian paradigm, we considered a Gibbs sampler under Metropolis-Hasting for estimation under two different loss functions. After simulation studies, three different real datasets having various nature are considered for showing the suitability of the proposed model.

  • Objectives: The intention of this study was to find out the impact of mother's body mass index, eating habits, nutrition status and sociodemographic factors on the body mass index of the children. Methods: The study used original data of Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2010-2011) and had 957 children in the ages of 1-5 years and 957 mothers of these children, a total 1,914 as subjects. The weights (body mass indexes) of the children, subjects under 5th percentile were classified into a underweight group, 5~84th percentile into a normal weight group, 85-94th percentile into an overweight group and more than 95th percentile into an obesity group based on the 2007 Korean children and adolescents growth chart. Results: We observed that when the body mass index of a mother increased by 1, the possibility that her child would belong to the overweight group increased by 6.5% (95% confidence interval: 1.01~1.13), and the possibility that the child would belong to the obesity group increased by 95% (confidence interval: 1.01~1.18). With regard to the number of deficient nutrients which were ingested according to estimated average requirements (EAR) amid nutrients ingested by the mother increased by 1, the possibility that the child would belong to the obesity group increased by 16.6% (95% confidence interval: 1.01~1.35). In case the birth weight of child increased by 1kg, the odds ratio that the child would belong to the obesity group was 2.022 (95% confidence interval: 1.08~3.77). Conclusions: We conclude that the body mass index, eating habits and nutrition status of the mother had significant effects on the body mass index of the child. Therefore, it is critical to recognize the importance of this observation and provide practical training for eating habits and nutrient intakes in order to achieve healthy growth and prevention of obesity among children.

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the potential acute toxicity of CKD-602 by a single intravenous dose in Sprague-Dawley rats. Ten males females were used in each test groups: a vehicle control, 34.7, 4l.7, 50.0, 60.0 and 72.0 mg/kg groups, and were given different single intravenous doses of CKD-602 to the test animals. Mortalities, clinical findings, and body weight changes were monitored for the 14-day period following the administration. At the end of l4-day observation period, all animals were sacrificed and complete gross postmortem examinations were performed. One, 1, 2, 8 and 9 cases of deaths occurred in the male dose groups of 34.7, 41.7, 50.0, 60.0 and 72.0 mg/kg, respectively, and 1, 5 and 9 cases in the female dose groups 50.0, 60.0 and 72.0 mg/kg, respectively. An increase in the incidence of clinical signs such as alopecia, skin pallor skin ulcerations, emaciation and change of fecal material was found in the both sexes of all treatment groups. A decrease or Suppression in the body weight was also observed in a dose-dependent manner. In autopsy, male and/or female rats of the treatment groups showed treatment-related gross findings such as splenomegaly, atrophy of the testis, epididymis, seminal vesicles, ovary, uterus and thymus which were dose-dependent in incidence and severity. Based on these results, it was concluded that a single intravenous injection of CKD-602 to rats caused significant toxicities in gastrointestinal, hematopoietic, and reproductive systems. The $LD_{50}$ value was 53.8 (95% confidence limit: 48.5~60.6) mg/kg for males and 60.l (95% confidence limit: 55.3~65.8) mg/kg for females. The $LD_{10}$ value was 39.9 (95% confidence limit: 3l.7~44.8) mg/kg for males and 50.3 (95% confidence limit: 40.6~54.8) mg/kg for females.
