The objective of this study is to develop knowledge-based system for the preliminary design and midship section design of bulk carrier and to enhance the applicability of knowledge engineering in the field of Naval Architecture. First, expert system shell called E.1 is developed in C language. E.1 supports backward-chaining, automatic iteration procedure and reiterative inference mechanism for efficient application of knowledge-based system in structural design. Knowledge representation in E.1 includes IF-THEN rules, 'facts'and 'tables'. Second, knowledge bases for the principal particulars and midship section design are developed by experimental formula, design standard and experiential knowlege. Third, hybrid system combined this knowledge-based system with the optimization program of midship section is developed. Finally, the simplified design method utilizing the regression analysis of the optimum results of stiffened plate is developed for facilitating the design process. Using this knowledge-based system, the design process and results for Bulk carrier and stiffened plates are discussed. It is concluded that knowledge-based system is efficient for preliminary design and midship section design of the ship. It is expected that the performance of the CAD system would be enhanced if the better knowledge-base is accumulated in the E.1 tool.
With recent increases in demand for women's social participation, children have tended to favor western-style foods and dislike vegetables (Veg.). The objective of this study was to evaluate dietary behavior and Veg. intake in 612 elementary school children (339 boys; 273 girls) in Gyeonggi-do. 66.5% of the subjects reported that they liked Veg. The most frequent reason given for this preference in Veg. liking group was that vegetables were 'delicious' (35.6%), followed by 'nutritious' and 'frequent intake'. The most frequent reason given for disliking Veg. in the Veg. disliking group was that vegetables are 'not delicious' (94.6%). Approximately half of the subjects had correct knowledge about vegetables. The total score of general nutrition knowledge was 7.7 points (a perfect score is 10 points) and the majority of students generally had good dietary behaviors. The Veg. liking group scored higher on knowledge about Veg., general nutritional knowledge, dietary behavior, and Veg. preference than did the members of the Veg. disliking group (p<0.001). The 'active' group had the highest score for dietary behavior (p<0.001), and the scores for dietary behavior and Veg. preference increased with increasing self-rated health status (p<0.001). The score of normal BMI group for nutritional knowledge about Veg. was higher than that of the underweight group (p<0.05). The higher self-rated academic score group showed higher on knowledge about Veg., general nutrition knowledge, dietary behavior (p<0.001) and Veg. preference (p<0.05). Dietary behavior and preference of Veg. were positively correlated with nutritional knowledge. To improve health by increasing Veg. intake, education about the nutritional importance of Veg. should be needed, and continuous nutritional education is recommended to foster good food habits and Veg. preferences in children.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the knowledge levels, attitudes, and factors affecting the choices on the education of the participants who completed their education of persons conducting clinical trial workers, and to assess the problems of the current education system for clinical trial workers, leading to improvements. Methods: Clinical trial workers (including principal investigators/subinvestigators, members of the Institutional Review Board [IRB], clinical research coordinators) who were affiliated to one of the 4 university hospitals running their own clinical trial center and IRB in Daegu and completed their education of persons conducting clinical trial workers were the subjects of this study. One hundred seven online questionnaires were answered from 2021-04-02 to 2021-04-17. Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the acquired data. Independent t-test and 1-way analysis of variance were used to analyze the differences in the knowledge levels and attitudes following the characteristics of the education participants. Results: The baseline characteristics of the 107 participants were as follows: the majority of the participants were female (72.0%), were in their 30s (36.4%), had a nursing major (29.0%), were clinical research coordinators (63.6%), had never experienced a principal investigator (79.4%), had participated 3 or more educations (58.9%), had completed their maintenance course (55.1%), had 5 or more years of clinical trial experiences (34.6%). The fields on which participants had low levels of objective knowledge were "types and preparations on audits of clinical trials," "regulations on clinical trials (Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, Korea Good Clinical Practice)." The difficulties that the participants faced were on "annual educations" and "lack of information regarding the educations." Factors that showed significant differences in objective knowledge were sex (p=0.02), number of educations (p=0.004), the curriculum of 2020 (p=0.001). Age (p=0.004), having experienced a principal investigator (p=0.006), number of educations (p<0.001), the curriculum of 2020 (p<0.001), clinical trial career (p=0.001) were factors that significantly affected subjective knowledge. Attitudes toward the education were positively correlated with objective knowledge (r=0.20, p=0.04) and subjective knowledge (r=0.32, p=0.001). Major sources through which information on educations was acquired were "institutional notices," and major factors affecting the choices on the education were "when the education took place" and "where the education took place." "Within the affiliated institution," "Online classes (recorded)" and "IRB and review processes" were each the most preferred place, mode, and content of the education. Conclusion: Knowledge levels varied largely among participants who completed their education of persons conducting clinical trial workers, depending on their characteristics such as the number of educations. Participants also complained about their lack of information on educations. The quality of education may be improved if clinical trial organizations are designated as education facilities. Education programs must be developed considering the knowledge level and demand of the participants. Furthermore, as offline classes may be impossible due to pandemics such as the coronavirus disease 2019, the development of diverse and sophisticated online classes is looked forward to.
Objective: To investigate the psychological characteristics of hepatic malignancy patients before interventional procedures and assess associations with related factors. Methods: Two hundred and thirteen patients requiring interventional procedure for hepatic malignancy were asked to complete a survey of health knowledge and psychological symptom on health knowledge questionnaire and SCL-90 before interventional procedure. Logistic regression analysis was employed to determine the association of various demographic, clinical and health knowledge factors with the presence of psychological symptoms in patients. Results: Eight psychological symptom scores, i.e. somatization, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobia, paranoid ideations and psychotic states, were significantly higher than the normal range (P< 0.001). Of 213 cases in the study, 49 families (23.00%) concealed the diagnoses of hepatic carcinoma from patients; 135 patients (63.38%) described the prognosis of the disease correctly. It was demonstrated that the correlations between psychological symptoms and related factors, i.e. age, gender, education, interventional procedure times and health knowledge, were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Psychological distress is severe in hepatic malignancy patients before interventional procedures. Age, gender, education, interventional procedure times and health knowledge are associated with psychological symptoms which are significant different from the normal range in Chinese.
The purpose of this study was to find the characteristics of the exhibition space planning methodology as 'Spatialization of Knowledge' through analyzation of the spatial structure in the contemporary museum architecture. The result of this study is expected to apply in designing an exhibition space and may become a target point. Further more this study can result a museum design to assist actual museum to fully function and play a role as a service facility for users by containing broad knowledge and fair understanding of user's needs in museum planning. Basic survey of museum architecture history will help visualizing conceptual structure of the museum exhibition and the 'Space Syntax' method has been used to make this conceptual data more objective. This study found that the contemporary museums most likely to include in its planning the various spatial organization in order to convey knowledge. The result reflects the needs of modern society which shows the design accepting individuality in society with variety of needs. And this also explains that museum space organization has to reflect various ways or methods of conveying knowledge. In addition, users have tendency to prefer more open space organization for easy access and approach in exhibition environment. It is clear to see the change in today's viewing pattern that the users prefer flexible exhibition space where they can be more proactive in receiving knowledge by following their own circulation over architecturally constrained circulation pattern within the exhibition area.
Objective: To study the level of awareness and knowledge about cancers and associated risk factors among households in selected states of India. Methods: In the study 3070 households were interviewed from six states viz, West Bengal, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram. Results: Knowledge of cancers other than those related to tobacco was very low (prostate 8%, colon 11% ) among the communities, with a poor awareness of warning signs and symptoms. The knowledge varied from state to state. It is found that the major source of information related to cancers was television (38%) followed by friends and relatives (36%). Only about 15 % of respondents had knowledge about cancer awareness camps organized in their districts but they did not have knowledge about the organizers of the camp. Findings suggested a strong need for strengthening of DCCP. Conclusion: It is important to create awareness among community through educational programs on cancer prevention, preventable cancer risk factors, benefits of early diagnosis, and availability of screening facilities. Integration of District Cancer Control activities with NRHM could be the most cost-effective strategy to prevent cancers and rural population.

In this paper, we introduce knowledge sharing platform for production technology. Surface mount technology (SMT) is one of the important production technologies to fabricate electronic devices. The production technology of the SMT, however, has been propagated from an experienced worker to an inexperienced worker in a manufacturing field. The objective of the knowledge sharing platform is to convert the production experiences like a solder printing knowhow into quantitative values, to construct the database of the process technologies, and to share the technologies systematically via web portal service. In addition, the knowledge sharing platform contains the total production process of mobile products, the information of experts and facilities, and recent R&D output. In this manner, the knowledge sharing platform for production technology could strengthen the technological competitiveness of small and medium manufacturing companies in Korea.
The objective of this study was to examine the eating habit characteristic and developmental outcomes of young children (ages 24 months through 42 months) as well as their mothers' nutritional attitudes and maternal levels of nutrition knowledge. The study also analyzed relationships among the children's eating habits and developmental outcomes and the mothers' nutritional attitudes and nutrition knowledge levels. The subjects included 164 young children who were enrolled in early childhood education and care settings in Seoul and Gyunggi province. The main results were as follows. There were significant correlations among the young children's eating habits and developmental outcomes, specifically between their attitudes towards meals and fine motor skills, communication, social-emotional aspects, and cognitive areas (p<0.01). In addition, there were significant correlations among the young children's eating habits, the mothers' nutritional attitudes and their nutrition knowledge levels (p<0.01).
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to analyse the current situation of oriental nursing intervention in local university oriental medicine hospital to provide qualified oriental nursing. Its specific purposes are as follows. 1) To analyse the objective's necessity to the oriental nursing intervention, knowledge and practice. 2) To analyse the correlation between the oriental nursing intervention, knowledge and practice. Method: The design of the study is a narrative investigation-research. The objectives of the study composed of 288 RNs having more than a three-year-experience, working for the university oriental medicine hospital. The tool of the study comprised of 194 questionnaires with the reliability of Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.95$. The data were collected from Dec. 11. 2002 to Feb. 20, 2003 and computerized by SPSS program. Result: The necessity of oriental nursing intervention of nurses working in the oriental hospital showed 3.60 measured by 5-scale-measurement, 2.69 in knowledge and .24 in practice measured by 1-scale-measurement. Conclusion: The oriental nursing intervention on site showed high necessity, moderate knowledge and low practice recommending a continuous education comprised of regular nursing education and in-service program.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of visual biofeedback methods utilizing pressure sensors on the static balance of stroke patients. Design: Randomized crossover study. Methods: A total of 27 patients with hemiparesis participated in this study. The following three feedback conditions were considered: condition 1 (Knowledge of performance feedback), condition 2 (Knowledge of result feedback), and condition 3 (None feedback). A force plate was used to measure static balance. The total sway length, average sway velocity, x-axis excursion, and y-axis excursion of the center of pressure were measured. One-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was employed for comparisons of variables between each condition. The statistical significance level was set at α = 0.05 for all analyses. Results: There was a significant difference in the static balance results between each feedback condition (p<0.05). In the post-hoc results, it was confirmed that the static balance was significant in the order of knowledge of performance feedback, knowledge of result feedback, and none feedback. Conclusions: When comparing the three conditions, it was observed that knowledge of performance feedback showed the most improved effect on static balance ability. As further research progresses, that this approach could be used as an effective intervention method in clinical settings.
