Polymer blending에 따른 TIPS-Pentacene의 특성 변화 (The electrical properties change of TIPS-Pentacene due to polymer blending)

  • In this paper, we investigated the electrical properties change of 6,13-bis(triisopropyl-silylethynyl) pentacene (TIPS-pentacene) depending on polymer blend. We fabricated organic thin film transistor (OTFT) using blending solution of small molecule and polymer. In this study poly(2-methoxy-5-(2-ethyl-hexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene-vinylene) (MEH-PPV), poly (9-vinylcarbazole) (PVK), poly [N,N'-bis(4-butylphenyl)-N,N'-bis(phenyl)benzidine] (poly-TPD), poly(${\alpha}$-methyl styrene), Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) are used as a polymer. Fabricated OTFT with blending solution of TIPS-pentacene and PVK shows best performance in this experiment. OTFT fabricated by blending solution of TIPS-pentacene and PVK shows field effect mobility of 0.0189 $cm^2/V{\cdot}s$, on/off ratio of 1.9E-5 and threshold voltage of 7.4 V.

  • 반도체적 성질을 가지는 유기 전자 재료를 활성층으로 활용한 유기 박막 트랜지스터(OTFT)는 제작 공정이 간단하고 비용이 저렴하다는 장점과 더불어 유기 반도체 자체가 가지는 가공성, 유연성 등으로 인해 유연한(flexible) 전자기기를 구현 할 수 있다는 가능성으로 미래형 전자기기의 핵심 구동 소자로서 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 특히 한 소자에서 p-type과 n-type이 동시에 구현되는 양극성(abipolar) OTFT는 구동 회로의 설계 및 제작 공정을 단순화 시키고 다양한 가능을 부가 시킬 수 있어 좀 더 경량화, 소형화된 미래형 전자 기기를 구현 할 수 있도록 해준다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 ambipolar OTFT의 구조 및 구동 원리를 알아보고 소자에 사용되는 유기 반도체 소재와 소자 구현 기술에 대하여 살펴보고자 한다.

RC Oscillator Based on Organic Thin Film Transistor

  • Since organic thin film transistor (OTFT) provides simple and low cost processes, its application to the OTFT display has been studied. We developed an RC oscillator using organic thin film transistor and inverters with bootstrapping transistors. Device parameters were optimized by the simulation and OTFT RC oscillators were fabricated. The oscillator frequency and its dependence on resistance and bias voltage were studied. The organic TFT is adequate for low cost and simple process integrated circuits. The frequency of oscillation was simulated and measured. It is acceptable for low-cost microelectronic device and flat panel displays.

Flexible OTFT-OLED Display Panel using Ag-paste for Source and Drain Electrodes

  • We fabricated OTFT-OLED display panel by using Ag-paste for source and drains electrode of OTFTs. The OTFTs were fabricated by solution processes such as spin-coating for PVP gate dielectric and screen printing for S/D electrodes with Ag-paste, except pentacene active layer which was deposited by evaporation. The mobility was 0.024 cm2/V.sec , off state current ${\sim}10-11A$, threshold voltage 7.6 V and on/off current ratio ${\sim}105$. The panel consisted of 16 x 16 pixels and each pixel consisted of 2 OTFTs, 1 Capacitor and 1 OLED. The pixels successfully worked in terms of current magnitude supplied to OLED and the control ability of driving and switching OTFTs.

  • Roll-printed organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) were fabricated by gravure or flexography printing using patterned PDMS stamp with various channel lengths, silver pastes, coated polyvinylphenol dielectric, and jetted bis(triisopropyl-silylethynyl) pentacene semiconductor on plastic substrates. The roll-printed OTFT parameters were obtained: fieldeffect mobility of $0.1\;cm^2/Vs$, an on/off current ratio of $10^4$ and a subthreshold slope of 2.53 V/decade.

  • In this paper, we extract interface trap density with treatment of gate dielectric of OTFT's. Interface trap densities in this paper were extracted from transfer curves. We obtained interface trap densities in pentacene / PVP interface Non-treated device has $1.4{\times}10^{12}cm^{-2}eV^{-1}$ Dit and treated device has $1.1{\times}10^{12}cm^{-2}eV^{-1}$ Dit.

  • We fabricated an array consisting of organic TFTs(OTFT) and organic LEDs (OLED) in order to demonstrate the possible application of OTFTs to flexible active matrix OLED (AMOLED). The panel was composed of $64{\times}64$ pixels on 4 inch size polyethylene-terephehalate (PET) substrate in which each pixel had one OTFT integrated with one green OLED. The panel successfully displayed some letters and pictures by emitting green light with a luminance of $1.5\;cd/m^2$ at 6 V, which was controlled by the gate voltage of OTFT.

  • We have developed a practical printing technology for the gate electrode of organic thin film transistors(OTFTs) by combining screen-printing with wet-etching process using nano-silver ink as a conducting material. The screen-printed and wet-etched Ag electrode exhibited a minimum line width of ~5 um, the thickness of ~65 nm, and a resistivity of ${\sim}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, producing good geometrical and electrical characteristics for gate electrode. The OTFTs with the screen-printed and wet-etched Ag electrode produced the saturation mobility of $0.13cm^2$/Vs and current on/off ratio of $1.79{\times}10^6$, being comparable to those of OTFT with the thermally evaporated Al gate electrode.

  • This is a report on fabrication and electrical characteristics of pentacene OTFT that uses conducting PEDOT/PSS as source drain electrodes. We demonstrate enhanced conductivity of PEDOT/PSS film with glycerol and optimize properties for ink jet printing. We also present the application of oxygen plasma technique in order to favor selective spreading for subsequent inkjet printing.

  • We introduce the new modification approaches of photocrosslinkable poly (4-vinylphenol) (PVP) for low hysteresis organic thin film transistors (OTFTs). The dielectric layers were composed of different PVP resin, low molecular melamine, and halogen free photo-initiator. The low hysteresis OTFT from one of the organic gate dielectrics has been realized. The electrical performance of low hysteresis OTFT with photocrosslinkable PVP exhibited a field-effect mobility of 0.2 cm2/Vs, a threshold voltage of - 0.04V, hysteresis of 0.4V.
