경쟁적 전력시장 하에서의 최적조류계산 응용에 관한 연구 (The uses of Optimal Power Flow in Competitive Electric Power market)

  • This paper shows that we can make simple modifications to an existing optimal power flow(OPF) algorithm that minimizes generation costs in order to solve the maximization of social welfare objective of the OPF in a competitive electric power market. We have illustrated the potential for the use of OPF in light of the marked impacts on nodal prices and generation/demand allocation levels among competing suppliers. This paper can provide all market players with the transparent information that ensures sufficient control over producers and consumers in case of economic of secure operation with transmission line outage while maximizing the sum of participants social benefit of participating in the electricity energy market.

  • This paper presents a hybrid algorithm for solving optimal power flow(OPF) in order to enhance a systems capability to cope with outages, which is based on combined application of evolutionary computation and local search method. The efficient algorithm combining main advantages of two methods is as follows : Firstly, evolutionary computation is used to perform global exploitation among a population. This gives a good initial point of conventional method. Then, local methods are used to perform local exploitation. The hybrid approach often outperforms either method operating alone and reduces the total computation time. The objective function of the security constrained OPF is the minimization of generation fuel costs and real power losses. The resulting optimal operating point has to be feasible after outages such as any single line outage(respect of voltage magnitude, reactive power generation and power flow limits). In OPF considering security, the outages are selected by contingency ranking method(contingency screening model).   • In the competitive electricity market, various pricing methods are developed and practiced in many countries. Among these pricing methods, marginal loss factor(MLF) can be applied to reflect the marginal cost of network losses. For the calculation of MLF, power flow method has been used to calculate system loss deviation. However, this power flow method shows some shortcomings such as necessity of regional reference node, and absence of an ability to consider network constraints like line congestion, voltage limit, and generation output limit. The former defect might affects adversely to the equity of market participants and the latter might generate an inappropriate price signals to customers and generators. To overcome these defects, the utilization of optimal power flow(OPF) is suggested to get the system loss deviation in this paper. 30-bus system is used for the case study to compare the MLF results by the power flow and the OPF method for 24-hour dispatching and pricing, Generator payment and customer charge are compared with these two methods also. The results show that MLF by OPF reflects the power system condition more faithfully than that of by the conventional power flow method

  • This paper presents to compute the power economic dispatch, an optimal power flow (OPF) computation algorithm, considering the load power factor limits constraint in developed. Efficient reactive power planning enhances economic operation as well as system security. Accordingly, an adequate level of power factor limits for the load busesshould be evaluated for economic operation. In this paper, the ranges of acceptable load power factors are portrayed as bandwidths of load power factor expressed as a function of load level. The load power factor limits are included and described into the OPF's objective function. The method Proposed is applied to IEEE 26 bus system.

  • This paper presents a method of decision on where bus splitting is needed to reduce fault current level of power systems and to satisfy the fault current constraints. The method employs a modified fault current constrained optimal power flow (FCC-OPF) with X variables for the candidate locations of splitting and for decision making on whether to split or not, it adopts soft-discretization by augmenting inversed U-shaped penalty terms. Also, this paper discusses the procedure on the adequate selection of bus splitting locations based on the results of the modified FCC-OPF, to reduce the total number of the actions taken.

  • SThis paper proposes a new dispatch scheduling algorithm in interconnected regional system operations. The dispatch scheduling formulated as mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) problem can efficiently be computed by generalized Benders decomposition (GBD) algorithm. GBD guarantees adequate computation speed and solution convergency since it decomposes a primal problem into a master problem and subproblems for simplicity. In addition, the inter-temporal optimal power flow (OPF) subproblem of the dispatch scheduling problem is comprised of various variables and constraints considering time-continuity and it makes the inter-temporal OPF complex due to increased dimensions of the optimization problem. In this paper, regional decomposition technique based on auxiliary problem principle (APP) algorithm is introduced to obtain efficient inter-temporal OPF solution through the parallel implementation. In addition, it can find the most economic dispatch schedule incorporating power transaction without private information open. Therefore, it can be expanded as an efficient dispatch scheduling model for interconnected system operation.

Electric market price changes hourly because suppliers and customers participate in a open market competitively. In this paper a web program developed wi function of OPF calculation. This program is re by a perl language. Also We calculated the marginal cost and the congestion charge shadow price resulted from the OPF.

  • Consumption of fossil fuel has been increasing steadily, and it has seriously affected environment. Due to this situation, UN establish ed UNFCC (United rations Framework Convention on Climate Change), and since Feb. 2005, Kyoto Protocol has come into effect for UNFCC obligation. In Korean power system, coal and oil thermal generation emitting large CO2 form about 46% of total generation. Moreover since electricity dem and has been increasing continuously, various alternatives should be designed to comply with Kyoto Protocol. In this paper, we analyze changes of each GENCO's generation pattern and resource planning under CO2 emission constraints. For this analysis, we incorporate CO2 emission constraints and the emission trading mechanism into the conventional OPF model.

  • The electric utility industry around the world is undergoing a revolutionary transition from vertically integrated monopoly structures to a competitive structures. Competition in an open transmission access(OTA) makes the market participants access easily the transmission system in a non-discriminatory and equitable manner. The competitions of suppliers and customers make the electric market price change every hour. This paper presents a web program in the internet environment with a function of optimal power flow(OPF) calculation. The Web program gives the nodal marginal cost and the congestion charge using the shadow prices resulted from OPF. This web program is realized by a Perl and JAVA languages, and using the common gateway interface(CGI).

  • The nodal marginal cost and the congestion charge are used as the econimic signals for the electricity price and new invetments in deregulated power systems. In this paper, the nodal marginal cost and the congestion charge are calculated by using the shadow prices resulted from the calculation of Optimal Power Flow(OPF). Linearization of inequality constraints and piecewise linear cost functions make an OPF problem LP-based forms. In order to use the shadow price, the Interior Point(IP) algorithm is applied as a solution technique to the formulation. This paper proposes an algorithm to determine efficients initial points which are guaranteed to be interior points.
