Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been the overwhelmingly prevalent choice for high-data-rate systems due to its superior advantages compared with other modulation techniques. In contrast, a high peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) is considered the fundamental obstacle in OFDM systems since it drives the system to suffer from in-band distortion and out-of-band radiation. The partial transmit sequence (PTS) technique is viewed as one of several strategies that have been suggested to diminish the high PAPR trend. The PTS relies upon dividing an input data sequence into a number of subblocks. Hence, three common types of the subblock segmentation methods have been adopted - interleaving (IL-PTS), adjacent (Ad-PTS), and pseudorandom (PR-PTS). In this study, a new type of subblock division scheme is proposed to improve the PAPR reduction capacity with a low computational complexity. The results indicate that the proposed scheme can enhance the PAPR reduction performance better than the IL-PTS and Ad-PTS schemes. Additionally, the computational complexity of the proposed scheme is lower than that of the PR-PTS and Ad-PTS schemes.

This paper investigates the network throughput of PLC (Power Line Communication) system in the in-building network. The OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation format and adaptive bit loading algorithm is used to minimize the effect of signal loss and noise on transmission performance in the power line channel characterized by frequency selective fading. The network throughput of the PLC system which consists of gateway and CPE(Customer Premise Equipment) PLC modem in the in-building network is measured by network performance measurement tool, iperf and analyzed according to the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) window size.

In this paper, we propose $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK and trellis-coded $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK-OFDM techniques by applying $\pi$/4 shift QPSK to trellis-coded modulation (TCM), and performing signal set expansion and set partition correspondingly based on phase difference. In our Viterbi decoding algorithm, up to L phase differences from successively received symbols are employed in the new branch metrics. Such sliding multiple symbol detection (SMSD) method provides improved bit-error-rate (BER) performance in the differential detection of the trellis-coded $\pi$/8 shift 8PSK-OFDM signals. The performance improvements are achieved for different communication channels without sacrificing bandwidth and power efficiency. It thus makes the proposed modulation and sliding detection scheme more attractive for power and band-limited systems.

OFDM communication system is effective for the high data rate transmission in the frequency selective fading channel. Since OFDM has high PAPR, OFDM signal may be distorted by the nonlinear HPA. In this paper, we propose an combined SLM and PTS method for reducing the PAPR in OFDM communication system. Proposed method increased some system complex in comparison with exiting method. But we made sure of high efficiency in the case of reducing the PAPR. As a result of using the 16-QAM modulation and increasing the carrier number in the SLM, PTS method and the SLM-PTS combined method, SLM-PTS combined method is more an effective method of reducing 3.5 dB PAPR than exiting OFDM system when this method is M, L=3, D=128, 256 in 10-3 BER.
In this paper, we investigated performance for 5.8GHz dedicated short range communication system using OFDM which will be applied to Intelligent transportation system services. The maximum speed of a vehicle in DSRC channel is very fast as 180km/h, so a service time is very short to serve a various traffic information if hand-off is not occurred. Therefore higher bit rate is required to proved advanced and intelligent service to the drivers of various vehicle and the data transmission rate of the next generation DSRC system if being promoted over 10Mbps. The signals received in Clarke & Gans channel have been simulated using the computer simulator.

In the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system, the nonlinear distortion in the high power amplifier(HPA) degrades the system performance because of the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, a semi-analytical method is newly proposed for the performance evaluation of the nonlinearly distorted OFDM communication system. In the proposed method, at first, the probability density function (pdf) of the PAPR is generated by computer simulation. Then, mean and variance of the non-linear distortion noise process are computed. Next, the overall BER is found by the analytical method. When the equivalent SSPA model is applied in case of the QPSK/16-QAM and AWGN channel, the BER is calculated for the variation of the IBO(input back-off) and PAPR parameter. It is shown that the results by proposed method are very similar to those of the conventional Monte-Carlo method. The computation time can be considerably reduced than the conventional method that depends on the magnitudes of BER and IBO.

In this paper, we propose deep learning-based target distance and velocity estimation technique for OFDM radar systems. In the proposed technique, the 2D periodogram is obtained via 2D fast Fourier transform (FFT) from the reflected signal after removing the modulation effect. The periodogram is the input to the conventional and proposed estimators. The peak of the 2D periodogram represents the target, and the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) algorithm is the most popular conventional technique for the target's distance and speed estimation. In contrast, the proposed method is designed using the multiple output convolutional neural network (CNN). Unlike the conventional CFAR, the proposed estimator is easier to use because it does not require any additional information such as noise power. According to the simulation results, the proposed CNN improves the mean square error (MSE) by more than 5 times compared with the conventional CFAR, and the proposed estimator becomes more accurate as the number of transmitted OFDM symbols increases.

In this paper, the effects of performance improvement far the OFDM based satellite communications are analyzed with applying the CI(Carrier Interferometry)-OFDM and channel coding scheme considering the group delay and gain ripple characteristic as well as the nonlinear characteristic of the transponder. Comparing the BER between traditional OFDM and CI-OFDM, the degree of performance improvement is presented in AWGN channel environments for specified backoff condition of HPA. The simulations are performed with the 36 MHz bandwidth of transponder channel, 120 Mbps transmission rate, and 16 QAM modulation scheme between ideal and worst case condition. It is shown that the improvement measure by the CI-OFDM and channel coding for the group delay and nonlinear characteristic outperforms that for the gain ripple in terms of performance degradation presented by the individual characteristics. And the simulation results show that the effects of improvement by the CI-OFDM outperforms the effect by the applied channel coding, particularly in worst case condition.

This paper presents a novel K-band (18 GHz) 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based $2{\times}2$ line-of-sight multi-input multi-output communication system. The system can deliver 356 Mbps on a 56 MHz channel. Alignment mismatches, such as amplitude and/or phase mismatches, between the transmitter and receiver antennas were examined through hardware experiments. Hardware experimental results revealed that amplitude mismatch is related to antenna size, antenna beam width, and link distance. The proposed system employs an alignment mismatch compensation method. The open-loop architecture of the proposed compensation method is simple and enables facile construction of communication systems. In a digital modem, 16-QAM OFDM with a 512-point fast Fourier transform and (255, 239) Reed-Solomon forward error correction codecs is used. Experimental results show that a bit error rate of $10^{-5}$ is achieved at a signal-to-noise ratio of approximately 18.0 dB.
In recent years, data transmission using power lines has been much highlighted. Power line is known to be cost-effective communication medium because the entire cable infrastructure has been already established and it is entirely connected with any home. Recently, the target of researches is to communicate data reliably over power lines at the speed of at least 1Mbits/s over the frequency range from 1MHz to 10MHz. OFDM communication system has been used for the high speed data transmission. Next, the conventional and adaptive OFDM systems for high speed data transmission over power line channel are investigated. The performance of AOFDM(adaptive OFDM) over the frequency selective channel with impulsive and narrow-band noise are studied to be a nice solution for high speed data transmission over power lines. The simulation results show that data the rates of the AOFDM are improved about 47% more than the ones of the conventional OFDM over the frequency response of case 4. In the results, the data rate has been much improved by the proposed adaptive algorithm in the frequency selective channel.
