For the Exp. 1, a total of sixty pigs(15.95${\pm}$0.09kg average initial body weight) were used in a 28-d growth assay to determine the effects of extruded chinese corn on growth performance and nutrient digestibility in nursery pigs. Dietary treatments included 1) UCORN(U.S. corn-SBM based diet), 2) CCORN(Chinese corn-SBM based diet) and 3) ECCORN(Extruded Chinese corn-SBM based diet). Overall period, average daily gain of pigs fed ECCORN diet was higher than that of pigs fed CCORN diet(547 vs 522 g/d), however, there was not significant difference. On day 10 of the experiment, pigs fed UCORN and ECCORN diet had significantly increased in DM and DE digestibilities compared to pigs fed CCORN diet(P〈0.05). Also, on day 24 of the experiment, pigs fed UCORN and ECCORN diet had a significant increase in DM digestibility compared to pigs fed CCORN diet(P〈0.05). Pigs fed ECCORN diet had significantly increased DE digestibility compared to pigs fed CCORN diet(P〈0.05). For the Exp. 2, three cannulated barrows(54.09kg average initial body weight) were used to determine the apparent ileal digestibilities of amino acids and nutrient digestibility of extruded corn in finishing pigs. Dietary treatments were the same as in Exp. 1. Apparent ileal digestibility of cystine was greater for UCORN and ECCORN than for CCORN(P〈0.05). Apparent digestibility of DM at the total tract was greater for UCORN and ECCORN than for CCORN(P〈0.05). Pigs fed UCORN and ECCORN diet had a significant increase in apparent total tract digestibility of N compared to pigs fed CCORN diet(P〈0.05). In conclusion, the results obtained from these feeding trials suggest that the extruded corn for nursery pigs had affected growth performance and DM and DE digestibilities. In finishing pigs, extruded corn was an effective means to improve apparent total tract digestibilities of DM and N.
This study was to performed to investigate the effect of horseradish powder and mushroom waste in fattening pig diet on odorous compound concentration from slurry. Twenty fattening boars [Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire) ${\times}$ Duroc] weighing an average body weight of $78.4{\pm}8.88$ kg were randomly assigned to one of 4 treatments (control, horseradish 0.03%, mushroom waste 0.5%, and combination; horseradish 0.03% + mushroom waste 0.5%). This experiment was a randomized complete block (RCB) design using 5 pigs per treatment with 1 pig per metabolizable cage. Pigs were fed experimental diet (amount proportional to 3% of their body weight) twice a day (09:00 and 16:00) for 7 d after having 14 d adaptation period. Experimental diets were mixed with water by 1:2.5 v/v. Odorous compounds in slurry including acetate, propionate, butyrate, trans fatty acid isomers were not different (P>0.05) among treatments. There was no difference (P>0.05) in the levels of phenol compounds including phenol and p-cresol in slurry among treatments. Concentration of indole was lower (P<0.05) in horseradish group compared with others. Skatole level was highest in control and horseradish group, middle in mushroom waste group, and lowest in combination group (P<0.05). Concentration of indole compounds was lowest (P<0.05) in combination group. Data from our current study suggest that indole compounds in slurry can be reduced by administrating pigs with 0.03% horseradish powder and 0.5% mushroom waste in their diet.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary Bacillus subtilis on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, immunological cells change, fecal noxious gas and carcass meat quality characteristics in finishing pigs. The dietary treatments were 1) CON(basal diet), 2) BS0.1(basal diet+ 0.1% Bacillus subtilis) and 3)BS0.2(basal diet+0.2% Bacillus subtilis). Sixty crossbred(Landrace$\time$ Yorkshire$\time$Duroc) pigs(89.5$\pm$0.11kg average initial body weight) were used in a 42 days growth trial. The pigs were assigned to the treatments according to body weight and each treatment had 5 replicates of 4 pigs per pen in a randomized complete block design. Through the entire experimental period, average daily gain(ADG) and average daily feed intake(ADFI) were not significantly different among the treatments. Pigs fed BS0.1 diet significantly increased their gain/feed compared to pigs fed CON and BS0.2 diets(P<0.05). Also, dry matter(DM) and nitrogen(N) digestibilities were greater in the pigs fed BS0.1 diet than those fed CON diet(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in fecal NH3-N concentration among the treatments. In blood assay for immunological cells change investigations, red blood cells(RBC) counts increased in the pigs fed BS0.2 diet compared to pigs fed CON and BS0.1 diets. There were no significant differences in carcass pH, drip loss, marbling and firmness. However, sensual color and a*(redness) value of meat in the pigs fed BS0.2 diet were higher than in pigs fed CON diet(P<0.05). Therefore, this experiment suggested that Bacillus subtilis supplementation could improve nutrient digestibility, RBC counts and carcass meat color of pigs.
This study was conducted to identify the correlation of bacterial phytase ($Transphos^{(R)}$) to the calcium level in feed. Of all 21-week-old 720 HyLine brown laying hens, 2 birds of similar weight were placed on each individual cage. The experiment was conducted by $3{\times}2{\times}3$ factorial design with including 3 different levels of phytase (0, 300, and 1,000 DPU/kg), 2 different levels of calcium (3.5% and 4.0%), and 3 different levels of no NPP addition 0% (0.095 NPP), 0.5% (0.185% NPP), and 1.0% (0.275% NPP). The feeding trial maintained the ME level of 2,800 kcal/kg and 16% for crude protein. The diet was fed ad libitum and 17 hours of lighting was provided throughout the experimental period. Egg production seemed to increase, in the 300 DPU of bacterial phytase added group and the cracked egg tended to reduce in Transphos added group. The egg productivity between treatment groups did not show significant difference by dietary calcium level, whereas non NPP added group (0.095% NPP) was found to be low compared to NPP added groups (P<0.05). The highest mean egg weight and the highest daily egg mass were detected in 300 DPU phytase added group. Although the mean egg weight was significantly higher in treatment groups fed with 3.5% calcium containing feeds (P<0.05), daily egg mass was no among treatment groups. The mean egg weight and daily egg mass were the lowest in non NPP added group (0.095% NPP) compared to other treatment groups (P<0.05). The feed intake showed similar pattern regardless of the bacterial phytase and calcium levels in the diet. However, the treatment groups fed diets containing NPP level of 0.275% and 0.165% showed significantly higher feed intake than the group fed with 0.095% NPP (P<0.05). Although the feed conversion was not affected by calcium and NPP levels in the diet, the most improved result was obtained from 300 DPU phytase added group (P<0.05). The eggshell breaking strength and thickness increased as dietary calcium level increase the level of calcium increases in diet. The treatment groups fed diet containing 0.275% and 0.165% NPP revealed to show improvement in eggshell breaking strength and yolk color index compared to the NPP non added (0.095% NPP) treatment group. The result of the present study suggests that the appropriate level of microbial phytase is 300 DPU and at this level, tricalciumphosphate supplementation in feed can be reduced to 40% of NRC recommendation. Higher calcium level in feed fail to show synergistic effect by adding microbial phytase.
The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary microbial phytase on egg productivity, egg quality, phosphorus utilization and nutrient digestibility in laying hens. The animals used in the experiment were a total of 120 Hy-Line Brown laying hens (32 weeks old). Dietary treatments included 1) CON (basal diet), 2) LP (low phosphorus diet) 3) NP (low phosphorus diet + 0.03% normal microbial phytase) and 4) CP (low phosphorus diet + 0.03% coated microbial phytase). Six laying hens were allotted to a block (pen) with five replicated. Through the whole period of experiment, egg production was significantly increased in CON and CP treatments compared to LP treatment (P<0.05). CON, CP and NP treatments significantly increased their egg shell breaking strength and egg shell thickness compared to LP treatment (P<0.05). CON, CP and NP treatments resulted higher yolk color and Haugh unit than LP treatment (P<0.05). Calcium and inorganic phosphorus contents in blood were higher in CP treatment compared to LP treatment (P<0.05). Dry matter digestibility and nitrogen digestibility were greater in CP treatment than CON, LP and NP treatments (P<0.05). Crude ash was increased in CON, CP and NP treatments compared to LP treatment (P<0.05). Calcium digestibility and phosphorus digestibility were significantly improved in CP and NP treatments than CON and LP treatments (P<0.05). Calcium retention of CON, CP and NP treatments were higher than LP treatment (P<0.05). Phosphorus retention was increased in CP and NP treatments compared to CON and LP treatments (P<0.05). LP treatment significantly increased their nitrogen, calcium excretion compared to CON, CP and NP treatments (P<0.05). Phosphorus excretion was decreased in LP, CP and NP treatments compared to CON treatment (P<0.05). In conclusion, CP treatment improved egg production, egg quality, inorganic calcium and phosphorus in blood, calcium and phosphorus retention and nutrient digestibility and decreased nitrogen and calcium excretion in laying hens.
This objective of this experiment was to test the effect of EGF on GVBD and MII of nuclear maturation of pig immature oocytes in vitro. Experiment 1 examined to the effect of EGF on nuclear maturation of pig immature oocytes according to different maturational times. The percentage of GVBD of EGF 10mg/ml treated groups were significantly higher than untreated groups after 24hr (p < 0.001). Experiment 2 examined to the effect of duration of exposure of oocytes to EGF supplement in maturation medium. Nuclear maturation rates (M II) of EGF treated groups (during 0-24: 72.8% and 0-42hr: 84.8%) were significantly higher than 53.5 and 26.1% of EGF treated group (during 24-42hr) and untreated group (p < 0.001). Also, experiment 3 examined to the effect of EGF on nuclear maturation of CEOs or CFOs. Nuclear maturation rate (M II) 84.6% of EGF treated group of CEOs was significantly higher than 53.0, 27.6, and 44.2% of EGF treated group of CFOs and untreated groups of CEOs and CFOs (p < O.001). These results conclude that EGF alone can stimulate GVBD and M II of nuclear maturation in pig immature oocytes.
As one of the chemical powder fabrication methods, the powder preparation method by using oxalate has the following advantages; (1) easy to control the chemical stoichiometry, (2) easy to fabricate homogeneous and fine particles, and (3) easy to be thermaly decomposed at low temperature. In the present study, the initial morphology and size distribution of the powder were controlled and the homogeniaty was improved. By carefully controlling the pH with NH4OH, the Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting powders were prepared and investigated for their properties. The microstructures and the superconducting properties of the pelletized samples were investigated. Also, the microstructures and electrical properties of the samples prepared by tape casting method were investigated. The fabricated powders were spherical with less than 400 nm, but most of them were agglomerated to be 1~3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in size. The critical temperature of the pelletized sample annealed at 84$0^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours in air was 110K. And the critical currents of annealed samples in air prepared by tape casting process for 24 hours and 72 hours were 0.6 A (Jc=600A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) and 1.9A (Jc=1, 900A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) respectively.

The perovskite- type oxide $(ABO_3)$ containing transition metals on the B-site show mixed (electronic/ionic) conductivity. These mixed-conductivity oxides are promising materials for oxygen permeating membranes. The main objective of this research work is to synthesize and characterization ceramic powders of the Sr-Co-Fe-O system for methane conversion using membrane reactor. SCFO powders were synthesized from the route was based on the complex method of combination of acid EDTA and citrate and shown be available by control efficient of synthesis to performed $SrCo_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}O_{3-\delta$, moreover, it presented easy implementation, reproducibility and operation. Powder ceramic was characterized by XRD, microscopic optic, SEM and TG-DTA.
The effect of protein supplementation, $O_2$ concentration and co-culture on the development of embryos produced by nuclear transfer using cultured cumulus cell was investigated. Recipient oocytes and cumulus cells were obtained from the ovaries of the slaughtered Hanwoo cows. Donor cumulus cells were cultured in Dulbecco's modified Eagle medium containing 10% fetal bovine serum at 5% $CO_2$ in air at $38.5^{\circ}C$. The 1 to 6 passages of cumulus cells were isolated and used as donor cells. The in vitro matured oocytes were enucleated and then the isolated donor cells were introduced. One $15{\mu}s$ pulse of 180 volts was applied to induce the fusion between karyoplast and cytoplast. The fused embryos were activated with $10{\mu}M$ calcium ionophore for 5 min and 2 mM 6-dimethylaminopurine for 3 h. To examine the effect of protein supplementation, nuclear transfer (NT) embryos were cultured in one of the following 4 treatments : 1) CR1aa + 3 mg/ml BSA for 7 days ; 2) CR1aa + 10% FBS for 7 days ; 3) CR1aa + 1.5 mg/ml BSA + 5% FBS for 7 days ; and 4) CR1aa + 3 mg/ml BSA for first 3 days and then CR1aa + 1.5 mg/ml BSA + 5% FBS for 4 days. Culture took place at 5% $CO_2$, 5% $O_2$ and 90% $N_2$ at $38.5^{\circ}C$. Although there were no significant differences in cleavage rate among different protein supplements, the rates of blastocyst formation were significantly different. When NT embryos were cultured in the medium supplemented with only BSA, they could develop to only morula not to blastocyst. However, when FBS was supplemented, NT embryos developed to blastocyst stage. In order to investigate the effect of $O_2$ concentration and co-culture, NT embryos were cultured in CR1aa + 1.5 mg/ml BSA + 5% FBS with or without cumulus cell co-culture at an atmosphere of 5% $CO_2$ in air (20% $O_2$) or 5% $CO_2$, 5% $O_2$, 90% $N_2$ (5% $O_2$) at $38.5^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. The percentage of blastocyst development was significantly higher when the NT embryos were cultured at an atmosphere of 5% $O_2$ than that of 20% $O_2$ (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference between with and without cumulus cell co-culture at an atmosphere of 5% $O_2$ or 20% $O_2$. Fifty embryos were transferred to 25 recipients and 5 recipients were pregnant at 100 days. From 5 pregnant cows, only one cow was delivered of female twin. In conclusion, the embryos reconstructed by enucleation of metaphase II oocytes and introduction of the cycling and quiescent cumulus donor cells in Hanwoo had developmental potential to term after embryo transfer to recipient cows.
Synthesis of maltosyl-$\beta$-cyclodextrin using maltose ($G_2$) and $\beta$-cyclodextrin ($\beta$-CD) as substrates through the reverse reaction of pullulanase was investigated. The optimal conditions for the condensation reaction were as below: mixing ratio of maltose to $\beta$-CD of 12.7, mixed substrate concentration of 70% (w/w, 70 g/100 ml $H_2O$), and amount of pullulanse of 350 units/100 ml. The concentration of synthesized maltosyl-P-CD concentration was reached up to 2.31 g/100 rnl at above reaction conditions, which corresponded the conversion yield of 43% (w/w, g of branched-CD/g of CD). The synthesis of maltosyl-$\alpha >\gamma >\beta$-CD was also attempted, and conversion yield was in the order of a>y>J3-CDs. Condensation reaction between various maltooligosaccharides ($G-1\sim G_6$ showed that maltose was the most effective oligorner for condensation reaction with $\beta$-CD. To increase the conversion yield various alcohols were added into the reaction mixture, amyl alcohol was found to be the most acceptable alcohol for increasement of convesion yield which increased from 43.0 to 83.0% upon addition of same volume of amyl alcohol into the reaction mixture.
