EFFECT OF TEFLON MEMBRANE AND NYLON MEMBRANE ON GUIDED BONE REGENERATON IN RABBIT TIBIA (가토 경골 골결손부에서 Nylon Membrane과 Teflon Membrane의 골유도 재생 효과)

  • The purpose of present study is comparing the effect of Teflon Membrane and Nylon Membrane on bone regeneration in rabbit tibia. The 6 defects of $8{\times}8{\times}5mm$ size were drilled with dental handpiece in rabbit tibia, which on left side as an order of Control group(no coverage), Group 1(Nylon $5{\mu}m$ size), Group 3(Nylon $10{\mu}m$ size), and on right side Control group, Group 2($5{\mu}m$ Teflon), Group 4($10{\mu}m$ Teflon). Animals were killed at 7, 10, 14, 42 days to make specimens and observed the difference of healing potentials with light microscopy. The results were as follows ; 1. New bone formation has taken place at 14 days in Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) group comparing to the Control group of massive inflammatory status. 2. Larger pore membrane allows more favorable healing potentials. Bone formation started earlier in larger membrane pore groups than smaller groups, until 14 days. 3. Bone forming potentials of Teflon membrane group was higher than Nylon membrane groups, Control group has the lowest bone forming potentials. 4. New bone formation was almost ended in 42 days, and there was no difference of bone formation between Nylon and Teflon membrane group of different size. There was no difference of bone formation at final stage(42 days) between Nylon membrane and Teflon membrane of same pore size. So nylon membrane may be clinically usable in guided bone regeneration case with further studies.

A New Analytical Method for the $Eu^{+3}$ and $Tb^{+3}$ Ions Using the Luminescence Enhancement by the Treatment of o-Phenanthroline on the Nylon Membrane (Nylon Membrane Filter에서의 발광증폭을 이용한 $Eu^{+3}$$Tb^{+3}$ 이온의 극미량 분석법)

  • A new analytical luminescence method for the Eu+3 and Tb+3 ions was studied using the luminescence enhancement by the treatment of the o-phenanthroline on the nylon membrane. Compared to the specific emission intensities of the ions in aqueous(or ethanol) solution, if the aqueous ion is spotted on the nylon membrane, the luminescence intensities were extremely enhanced. There was additional enhancement effect of the luminescence intensities of the ions on the nylon membrane, if the ion on the nylon membrane is treated with o-phenanthroline. Based on the luminescence enhancement, the detection limits were lowered by more than 7 order of magnitude compared to that of solution sample, and also lowered by about 1 order of magnitude compared to that of previous TLC method. The dynamic ranges and correlation coefficients of the calibration curves near the detection limit were 2∼3 order and ∼0.99, respectively. It was also shown that the luminescence intensity was in its maximum when the ion on the nylon is treated with ∼4 mole ratio of o-phenanthroline. The energy-transfer mechanism was explained for the theoretical background of the luminescence enhancement.

A Glutamate Oxidase-based Biosensor for the Determination of Glutamate (Glutamate Oxidase를 이용한 Glutamate 측정용 Biosensor의 개발)

  • The objective of this research was to develop a glutamate enzyme sensor for rapid determinations of glutamate in samples. Glutamate oxidase was immobilized onto activated nylon, chitosan and other membranes. The enzymic and nonactin membranes were attached to an ammonia electrode to detect ammonia generated by the reaction between glutamate oxidase and glutamate. The enzyme immobilized on activated nylon membrane was stable for 2 months, and was able to perform about 250 glutamate determinations without losing activities. The enzyme immobilized on chitosan membrane had higher enzyme activity, but was not as much stable as that immobilized on nylon. The glutamate biosensor was able to accurately determine $0.1{\sim}5\;mM$ of glutamate in samples.

Characteristics of Pressure Drop in the Membrane Support Sheet for Reverse Osmosis (역삼투압용 막지지천의 압력강하 특성)

  • Fabrics of polyester, polyacrylics, nylon and cotton were tested to investigate the possibility. of using these matehals as a membrane support sheet. Considering the physical properties such as compaction rate, membrane embossing, water flux, the chemical and mechanical properties, 50 denlet polyester fabrics was found to be the appropriate material as a membrane support sheet among the tested materials. The experimental parameters such as pressure drop, compression pressure and viscosity were changed to investigate the effects of these parameters on the flow patten in this membrane support sheet. As a result, it was shown that Darcy's law could be satisfactorily applied to describe the flow pattern in this membrane support sheet.

  • Reverse osmosis(RO) and pervaporation(PV) membrane separation proceaes were compared with each other experimentally for the system of water-ethanol mixtures by using nylon 4 blended membranes. The separation effciencies of PV were better than those of RO as expected in previous paper covering the theoretical comparisons of both processes, however tbe permeabilities data showed erraerie results due to the membrane imperfections.

  • In this study, cellulose acetate (CA) / nylon66 (NYL66) (95/5) blend membranes with different thicknesses were prepared by a solvent evaporation method. The effects of membrane thickness (almost $7-25{\mu}m$), feed concentration (70-95 wt.% isopropanol), and feed temperature ($30-60^{\circ}C$) were investigated on the performance of membrane in the separation of isopropanol-water mixtures. With regard to the results of sorption experiments, it was found that the increase of feed temperature enhanced the overall sorption while by increasing feed concentration, the overall sorption passed through a maximum value at 70 wt. % isopropanol (IPA). The best separation factor 3080.51 was gained at high isopropanol concentration 95 wt.%, low feed temperature $30^{\circ}C$, and high membrane thickness $24.62{\mu}m$. Regarding the pervaporation separation index, the obtained results showed that proper values for the thickness of membrane, feed temperature, and isopropanol concentration in feed were $24.62{\mu}m$, $40^{\circ}C$, and 70 wt.%, respectively.

Preparation of Photosynthesis Nanofiber Composite Membrane by Using Chlorophyll and Polymer Nanofiber (식물 엽록소와 고분자 나노섬유를 이용한 광합성 나노섬유복합막의 제조)

  • In this study, chlorophylls were been extracted from common local plants, deposited on polypropylene (PP) substrate using various approaches, and the oxygen generation effect of the chlorophylls were investigated. The loading of chlorophylls on the substrates was achieved by dipping and spraying methods, where the spraying coating showed overall better results regarding oxygen generation from the combustion experiments in the closed vessel or in the isolated vacuum oven cell than those of dip coating. In addition, a composite substrate was prepared by nylon6/6 nanofiber on the PP substrate, and it exhibited an increase in the activation of chlorophylls. In the case of samples containing titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$), the reaching time of oxygen concentration from 16% to 21% and the combustion test using a candle for a sample with 50% chlorophylls showed similar results to those of a sample without $TiO_2$. As such, combining a spray coating and $TiO_2$ incorporation into gas separation membrane systems are expected to be useful to understand the fundamentals of material properties for their applications as oxygen generation membranes and air filtration systems.

  • PEFE, Asypore, PC, Nylon 등의 정밀여과막에 0.1내지 4$\mu\textrm{m}$의 입자분포를 가진 kaolin 용액을 dead-end 형 여과장치(Amicon Cell, 8050)를 이용하여 투과실험을 하였다. 또한 공칭세공이 0.2$\mu\textrm{m}$ 인 PTFE(Sartorius 사) 막에 kaolin, bentonite, yeast, starch 등 입자의 크기 및 특성이 다른 0.1%의 용액들을 1 bar 의 운전압력과 200rpm의 회전속도로 투과실험을 하였다. 투과 실험한 자료를 근거로 저항모델을 적용하여 분석하였으며 순수 하락도와 액체전이법으로 세공분포를 확인하였다.

PPO/Nylon 계의 비대칭성막의 제조 및 물성에 관한 연구

  • 유기금속반응을 이용하여 carboxylated PPO를 합성하였고 FTIR의 스펙트럼의 $1720cm^{-1}$ 위치에 나타나는 피크와 $^1H$ NMR 스펙트럼의 3.4ppm근처의 피크로부터 carboxylation 되었음을 확인하였다. Carboxylation이 증가할수록 유리전이온도는 220$\circ$C 부근에서 약간 상승했으며 친수성을 높이기 위해서 -COOH를 -COONa로 치환시켜서 막을 제조하였다. 제조된 상전이막은 캐스팅 용액중의 THF의 양이 증가할수록 염배제율의 증가와 투과유량의 감소를 가져왔으며, 혼합용매에 대해서는 상온에서의 휘발시간이 증가할수록 염배제율의 감소와 유량의 증가의 경향을 보였다.
