In this work, effects of the blend composition composed of 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 wt% of nylon 6 to epoxy (diglycidylether of bisphenol-A, DGEBA) resin were investigated in terms of cure kinetics and thermal stability by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). As the content of the nylon 6 increased, the maximum exothermic temperature ($T_{max}$) and the value of cure activation energy ($E_a$) decreased. The maximum exothermic temperature of the blending samples decreased with increasing in nylon 6 content, resulting in the decrease in curing activation energy of them due to the rapid curing reaction with epoxy resin in this system. From TGA analysis results of the DGEBA/nylon 6, the thermal stability based on the thermal stability index ($A^*{\cdot}K^*$) and integral procedure decomposition temperature (IPDT) increased with increase in the nylon 6 content. This was because of the combination of DGEBA and nylon 6 having good heat resistance, resulting in improving thermal stability of the DGEBA/nylon 6.
Optimal pretreatment processes for metal plating on engineering plastics, especially on Nylon-inorganic filler alloy was studied. For Nylon-inorganic filler alloy, adhesion strength between resin surface and metal could be improved by just etching process that eliminate amorphous layer. In the SEM picture and surface roughness measurement, etching treatment was found to make enabled the surface condition very rough and the adhesion strength good. It was also found that the surface condition of plated article and its adhesion strength partly depended upon molding condition of Nylon-inorganic filler alloy. EDS, peaks showed that what kinds of and how much of the metal elements remained on the resin surface after pretreatment processes. Cr did not affect on adsorption of Sn and Pd remarkably.

Due to the change in lifestyle, new sensible materials for sportswear and outdoor are needed. This study is conducted in order to obtain the data for sensible materials through nylon twist process. 1-step nylon twisting machine was used to set the optimum twist process. DSC measurements of twisted nylon yarn showed crystallization temperatures around 170℃ and melting temperatures around 220℃. Nylon 40D/13F DTY and Nylon 50D/48F DTY showed optimal results at 160℃, 1,500 T/M(Turns per meter), and Nylon 70D/68F DTY at 160℃, 1,200 T/M(Turns per meter) after 1-step twist process. Also, Nylon 40D/13F DTY was confirmed to have inter-layer property deviation of ±5 percent.
In this study, characteristics of visible-light responsive photocatalyst Weltouch, especially VOCs reduction of visible-light responsive photocatalyst coated nylon/polyester composite fiber for vehicle interior parts and materials were evaluated. Visible-light responsive photocatalyst Weltouch was observed for both anatase phase and rutile phase. It is activated by light longer than 420nm. VOCs and formaldehyde generated from visible-light responsive photocatalyst treated nylon/polyester composite fiber were reduced confirmly. Visible-light responsive photocatalyst was firmly attached to the surface of nylon/polyester composite fiber without elimination even after 25 times repeated washing. And washing durability of nylon/polyester composite fiber confirmed the excellence that reduction effects of VOCs after repeated washing has appeared as much as before washing.

The frictional properties of nylon can be improved by the impregnation of lubricants like wax, oil or graphite. The inclusion of these lubricants, on the other hand, decreases the mechanical properties of nylon, such as tensile strength, hardness and impact strength. As an attempt to maximize frictional properties, while minimizing a decrease in the mechanical properties, various kinds of nylon containing 3 wt% wax and varying contents of oil or graphite were prepared. It was found that the synergy effects to improve both friction and anti-wear properties is evidenced by impregnating a combination of wax/oil or wax/graphite. The wear rate of a nylon containing 3 wt% of wax and 1.5 wt% of oil turned out to be 1/4 of that of nylon impregnated with 8 wt% wax or 8 wt% oil. The latter showed the lowest wear rate among the nylons prepared with a single lubricant. In addition, the friction coefficient of the developed nylon was found to be very similar to the nylon with 8 wt% wax only.

In this study, when printed on a nylon material, the color strength and fastness are lower than that of a polyester material, and the nylon material shrinks due to heat and pressure, resulting in poor design and poor compatibility. To overcome this problem, we investigated the possibility of transfer DTP by adding pre-treatment process to nylon transfer DTP process. For the basic study of pre-treatment preparation, we used pure nylon material which is not compounded and dispersion ink and transfer paper applied to existing PET transfer DTP. Pre-treatment preparations were classified into three types of acryl-base polymer and pre-treated with nylon and then applied to transfer DTP to confirm their color strength and fastness. The color strength of the pre-treated nylon material increased and poly-methyl-acrylate amulsion pre-treatment showed the best color at $210^{\circ}C$, 1.5m/min and 0.3MPa. The nylon material pre-treated with washing, friction, and light fastness was judged to be more excellent and stable.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of dyeing on the mechanical properties, primary hand, total hand value (THV), and total appearance value (TAV) of woven fabrics. Cotton, PET, nylon, cotton/PET, and cotton/nylon woven fabrics were used as test specimens. Each of fabric was dyed under the same conditions as the fabrics for sportswear which consumers have selected as best. Mechanical properties of specimens were measured by KES-FB system and primary hand and THV were calculated by equation KN -201-MDY and KN-301-WINTER respectively. TAV was calculated by KN (eq. 10). The results were as follows: 1. In mechanical properties. tensile energy increased when cotton and two cotton mixture fabrics were dyed and decreased when polyester and nylon fabrics were dyed. Bending rigidity and shear rigidity decreased after all fabrics were dyed except nylon and cotton/ nylon mixture fabrics showing higher rigidities. Cotton fabrics showed higher surface roughness while other fabrics did lower values after dyeing. 2. In evaluation of primary hand and total hand , four primary hands of cotton fabrics so decreased after dyeing that THV were lowered. Numeri, Fukurami, and Sofutosa in primary hand of polyester, cotton/polyester, and cotton/nylon fabrics and Koshi and Numeri of nylon fabrics increased after dyeing and therefore THV of four fabrics were improved. 3. Cotton and polyester fabrics showed higher TAV due to their lower bending and shear rigidity, while nylon and cotton/nylon fabrics did lower values due to their higher shear rigidity. 4. It was proposed that the method of dyeing or treatment for minimizing the decrease of THV of cotton fabrics and TAV of nylon fabrics should be developed.
Nylon laminated low density polyethylene(LDPE) film is mostly used for package of Vienna sausage in Korea. The water vapor permeability and gas transmission rate of Nylon laminated LDPE film is higher than that of Oriented polypropylene/polyvinylidene chloride coated LDPE film. Comparision of shelf-life of Vienna sausage packed with both film was as follows. The water vapor permeability and gas transmission rate of PVDC coated film were 2.5 times lower and 20.7 to 30 times lower than those of Nylon laminated film, respectively. Shelf-lives of Vienna sausage packed with Nylon laminated film and PVDC coated films were 25 days and 31 days at $15^{\circ}C$, 32 days and 41 days at $5^{\circ}C$, respectively.
This paper surveys the physical properties of aramid and aramid/nylon hybrid air-jet textured yarns(ATY) for protective garments according to wet and dry texturing conditions. Aramid and nylon filaments were used to make two kinds of para-aramid ATY and four kinds of aramid/nylon hybrid ATY with dry and wet treatments. The analyzed physical properties of six specimens (made on the ATY machine) are as follows. The tenacity and initial modulus of aramid and aramid/nylon hybrid ATY decreased with the wetting and breaking strain; however, the yarn linear density of aramid and hybrid ATY increased with wetting treatment. The dry and wet thermal shrinkage of the hybrid ATY increased with wetting. The stability of aramid and hybrid ATY also increased with wetting. The physical properties of core/effect type hybrid ATY showed significantly more change than the core type hybrid ATY and the physical properties of nylon/aramid core/effect hybrid ATY showed significantly more change than the of aramid/nylon core/effect hybrid ATY. A higher bulky and breaking strain of hybrid ATY require ATY processing conditions of nylon on the core part with wetting and aramid on the effect part. ATY processing conditions for nylon and aramid on the core part with wetting are required for a higher tenacity and modulus. ATY processing conditions of nylon and aramid on the core with no wetting are required for a low thermal shrinkage.
