팔당호와 청평호 퇴적물에서 영양염류 용출 특성 (Characteristics of Release Rate of Nutrients from Sediment in Lake Paldang and Lake Cheongpyeong)

  • To examine the characteristics of the nutrient release from the sediments in two reservoirs, Lake Paldang and Lake Cheungpyeung, we analyzed physical and chemical properties of the sediments and calculated the nutrient release rates from the sediments. The particle properties of sediments in Lake Paldang changed from silt to sand after summer rainy season, especially in the water area of the Kyeungan River where the water depth was shallow and the width of river was narrow. The sediments in Lake Cheungpyeung had higher contents of silt and clay than in Lake Paldang, and the particle size was not much different before and after rainfall. The release rates of nutrients in two lakes varied with the kind of nutrients and the season. The release rates of DTN and ${NH_4}^+-N$ in Lake Paldang were faster in spring than autumn. But the Lake Cheungpyeung showed similar values of release rates before and after summer rainy season. ${NO_3}^--N$ and phosphorous were not released from sediments or were absorbed into sediments all the time in two lakes. Compared with other lakes, the sediments of two lakes consisted of bigger particles and had a lower organic matters content than other lake-type reservoirs. Due to the short hydraulic retention time and no stratification throughout the year in Lake Paldang and Lake Cheungpyeung, the release rates of nutrients from sediment in these reservoirs were lower than other lakes and this seems to be a typical characteristic of river-type reservoirs.

  • Contaminated marine sediment is a secondary pollution source in the coastal areas, which can result in increased nutrients concentrations in the overlying water. We analyzed the nutrients release characteristics into overlying water from sediments and the interaction among benthic circulation of nitrogen, phosphorus, iron, and sulfur were investigated in a preset sediment/water column. Profiles of pH, ORP, sulfur, iron, nitrogen, phosphorus pools were determined in the sediment and three different layers of overlying water. Variety types of sulfur in the sediments plays a significant role on nutrients transfer into overlying water. Dissimilatory nitrate reduction and various sulfur species interaction are predominantly embodied by the enhancing effects of sulfide on nitrogen reduction. Contaminant sediment take on high organic matter, which is decomposed by bacteria, as a result promote bacterial sulfate reduction and generate sulfide in the sediment. The sulfur and iron interactions had also influence on phosphorus cycling and released from sediment into overlying water may ensue over the dissolution of ferric iron intercede by iron-reducing bacteria. The nutrients release rate was calculated followed by release rate equation. The results showed that the sediments released large-scale quantity of ammonium nitrogen and phosphate, which are main inner source of overlying water pollution. A mechanical migration of key nutrients such as ammonia and inorganic phosphate was depicted numerically with Fick's diffusion law, which showed a fair agreement to most of the experimental data.

Distribution of Nutrients in Dae-Cheong Reservoir Sediment

  • This paper was performed to estimate interrelations between humus level of sediments and nutrient release from sediments in Dae-cheong reservoir. For investigations, sediments were sampled in June and October, in 1997 at fish farms, embayment, and the main stream of Dae-cheong reservoir. Items for investigation are as follows; water content, weight loss on ignition(IG), porosities of sediments, contents of element such as hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon, and nutrient release rates. Water contents and porosities were measured to conjecture the physical trait and grain size trait. Weight loss on ignition was measured to determine the contents of organic substance. For determination of the humus level of sediments, carbon and nitrogen contents were measured by elemental analyzer. As a result of elemental analysis, C/N ratio was determined in the range of $3.0\~13.1$. From the elemental analysis, humus level of Dae-cheong reservoir sediment was estimated from mesohumic state to oligotrophic state. For the determination of nutrient release rate, $PO_4-P$ and $NH_4-N$ concentrations of interstitial water and overlying water were measured. By using the concentration difference between interstitial water and overlying water and using the Fick's diffusion law, the release rates of phosphorus and nitrogen from the sediment samples were calculated. Release rates of nutrients which directly influence to the water quality were $0.05\~8.63mgP/m^2day$ and $4.99\~36.56mgP/m^2day$. It was found that release rate was measured higher in the 1st sampling period than in the 2nd sampling period. For the determination of phosphorus content in sediment, TPs were measured in 807\~1542{\mu}g/g$ in the 1st samling period and $677\~5238{\mu}g/g$ in the End samling period. Phosphorus release rate and phosphorus content were not interrelated each other.

물질순환 모델을 이용한 마산만의 질소, 인 수지 산정 (The Estimation of N, P mass Balance in Masan Bay using a Material Cycle Model)

  • It is noted that the red tides and the oxygen-deficient water mass are extensively developed in Masan Bay during summer. The nutrients mass balance was calculated in Masan Bay, using the three-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic model and the material cycle model. The material cycle model was calibrated with the data obtained on the field of the study area in June 1993. The nutrients mass balance calculated by the combination of the residual currents and material cycle model results showed nutrients of surface and middle levels to be transported from the inner part to the outer part of Masan Bay, and nutrients of bottom level to be transported from outer part to inner part of Masan Bay. The uptake rate of DIN in the box A1(surface level of inner part) was found to be 337. 5mg/$m^3$ㆍday, the largest value in all 9 boxes and that of DIP was found to be 18.6mg/$m^3$ㆍday in box A1, and the regeneration rate of DIN was found to be 78.2mg/$m^3$ㆍday in the box A3(bottom level of inner part), and that of DIP was found to be 18.6mg/$m^3$ㆍday in box A1. The regenerations of DIN and DIP in the water column of the entire Bay were found to be 7.66ton/day and 760kg/day, respectively. And the releases of DIN and DIP from the sediments of the entire Bay were found to be 2.86ton/day and 634kg/day, respectively. The regeneration rate was 2.5 times as high as the release rate in DIN, and 1.2 times in DIP. The results of mass balance calculation showed not only the nutrients released from the sediments but the nutrients regenerated in water column to be important in the control and management of water quality in Masan Bay.

호소 퇴적물 내부생산성 오염도 영향 평가 및 용출특성에 관한 연구 (The evaluation of pollution level and release characteristics by inner productivity in the sediment of lake)

  • In this study, it is grasped the status of nutrients through an investigation of release characteristics and physicochemical properties of sediments on reservoir. And then the effect of sediments is evaluated on the water quality in reservoir. In the results of physicochemical analysis, the pollution level of midstream is the highest, which shows the traits that the water is more deeper and takes place a deposition consistently. Then, the pollution level of upstream is higher than downstream's because inflow has influence on the upstream directly. The downstream is located near tidal gate so that the soil particles can be moved easily and are difficult to be deposited due to the distribution of seawater by control of tidal gate. Therefore, the downstream is showed the lowest pollution level than the others. Also, the concentration of SOD(Sediment Oxygen Demand) in the upstream which is influenced on the effect of inflow is highest than the others. When it analyzes under anaerobic and aerobic condition to understand the release characteristic of sediment, it shows that the release rate is low or negative under the aerobic condition. Whereas the release rate is usually positive under the unaerobic condition relatively. According to these results, it is necessary to maintain the proper environmental factors of water body for decreasing the release rate of sediment. Because the release rate is changeable under the different condition of water body. Therefore, proper strategies are required for increasing the self-purification of water as well as keeping the aerobic condition of sediment and managing a sediment layer directly to control the inner-pollution by the sediment of reservoir.

낙동강 중류수계의 인공보 설치에 따른 보 내 수질특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Water Quality after Construction of the Weirs in the Middle Area in Nakdong River)

  • 본 연구는 낙동강 중류수계의 강정고령보와 달성보의 수질특성을 조사하였다. 조사결과 강정고령보와 달성보에서 COD 3.5~6.8 mg/L, TOC 3.4~6.5 mg/L, T-N 1.8~4.0 mg/L, T-P 0.08~0.12 mg/L의 농도로 조사되었으며, 달성보에서 다소 높은 농도로 조사되어 금호강 유입의 영향이 큰 것으로 판단된다. 침전물 조사결과 강정고령보와 달성보에서 모두 심층의 SS, T-N, T-P 수질지표의 농도가 표층의 1.6~2.4배로 높게 조사되었으며, 침전율(%/d)은 표층에서 7.14~9.76 %/d, 심층에서 1.68~2.42 %/d로 다소 낮게 침전되는 것으로 조사되어 심층의 SS가 쉽게 가라앉지 않고 부유하고 있는 경향을 나타냈다. 용출조사에서는 시간이 지날수록 용출농도가 증가하여 나타났으며 수온과 DO농도와 밀접한 관계가 있는 용출 특성에 의해 하계의 높은 수온과 낮은 DO농도의 조건이 용출에 용이 했을 것으로 판단된다.

Water content and porosity were measured to conjecture the physical trait and grain size. And weight loss on ignition was measured to determine the contents of organic substance. For the determination of nutrient release rate, $PO_4-P$ and $NH_4-N$ concentration of interstitial water and overlying water were measured. Release rate of nutrients which has direct influenced upon the water quality were 0.05-8.63mg-$P/m^2{\cdot}day$ and 4.99-36.56mg-$N/m^2{\cdot}day$. And it was found that release rate was measured higher in the 1st sampling than in the 2nd sampling. And for determination of the humus level of sediment, carbon and nitrogen content were measured by using elemental analyzer. Generally, C/N ratio is used to determine humus level of lake sediment. As a result of elemental analysis, C/N ratio was determined in the range of 7.64~11.55, so humus level of Dae-cheong lake sediment was estimated from mesohumic state to oligohumic state.

남한강 보 구간 퇴적물의 영양염류 용출에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Nutrient Release from the Sediments Near Weir in the Namhan River)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 보 인접 퇴적물을 대상으로 영양염류의 용출 가능성을 평가함에 있다. 이를 위해 현장 퇴적물을 채취하여 퇴적물 기본 특성(입도, 함수율, 완전연소가능량, TOC, TP, SRP, TN, 존재형태별 인)을 측정하였고, 반연속식 용출조를 운영하여 호기 혐기 조건 하에서 영양염류 용출량을 산정하였다. 퇴적물의 토성은 전 지점에서 Sand를 보였다. 퇴적물의 SRP 농도는 전체적으로 호기보다 혐기에서 용출 후 SRP 함량이 낮게 나타나 혐기에서 상대적으로 활발한 용출이 일어났음을 알 수 있었다. TP 용출의 경우 강천보 상류 혐기조건에서 1.26 $mg/m^2{\cdot}day$로, $PO_4$-P 역시 강천보 상류 혐기조건에서 0.25 $mg/m^2{\cdot}day$로 최대 용출을 보였다. $PO_4$-P 용출율은 초기 2~3일까지 급격하게, TP는 18일까지 지속적으로 증가하였고 전반적으로 증가 경향을 보이는 7~8일 범위 내에서 산정한 $PO_4$-P 용출율은 퇴적물 내 초기 SRP 농도와 $R^2$=0.8502의 값을 보여 높은 상관성을 보였다. 질소 계열 중 $NO_3$-N의 용출율은 -5.7~-3.08 $mg/m^2{\cdot}day$로 일관된 감소 경향을 보였지만 유기물 분해산물인 $NH_3$-N는 0.57~2.41 $mg/m^2{\cdot}day$의 용출율을 보였다. TN의 상당량은 유기 질소 성분으로 추정되며 이는 비점오염원을 거쳐 유입되는 지류의 영향이라고 여겨진다. 본 연구를 통해 측정된 결과는 퇴적된 지 1년 미만의 퇴적물을 대상으로 했기 때문에 연구 결과를 일반화시키기에 한계점이 있다. 따라서, 보에 의한 퇴적물의 축적이 수질에 미치는 영향을 보다 명확하게 파악하기 위해서는 퇴적물 내 쌓이는 영양염류를 지속적으로 모니터링 할 필요성이 있다.

Effect of Glucose, Its Analogs and Some Amino Acids on Pre-steady State Kinetics of ATP Hydrolysis by PM-ATPase of Pathogenic Yeast (Candida albicans)

  • Fast kinetics of transient pH changes and difference spectrum formation have been investigated following mixing of ADP/ATP with partially purified plasma membrane PM-ATPase of the pathogenic yeast Candida albicans in the presence of five nutrients: glucose, glutamic acid, proline, lysine, and arginine and two analogs of glucose: 2-deoxy D-glucose and xylose. Average $H^+$- absorption to release ratio, indicative of population of ATPase undergoing complete hydrolytic cycle, was found to be 0.27 for control. This ratio varied between 0.25 (proline) to 0.36 (arginine) for all other compounds tested, except for glucose. In the presence of glucose, $H^+$- absorption to release ratio was exceptionally high (0.92). While no UV difference spectrum was observed with ADP, mixing of ATP with ATPase led to a large conformational change. Exposure to different nutrients restricted the magnitude of the conformational change; the analogs of glucose were found to be ineffective. This suppression was maximal in the case of glucose (80%); with other nutrients, the magnitude of suppression ranged from 40-50%. Rate of $H^+$- absorption, which is indicative of E~P complex dissociation, showed positive correlation with suppression of conformational change only in the case of glucose and no other nutrient/analog. Mode of interaction of glucose with plasma membrane $H^+$-ATPase thus appears to be strikingly distinct compared to that of other nutrients/analogs tested. The results obtained lead us to propose a model for explaining glucose stimulation of plasma membrane $H^+$-ATPase activity.

모래지반에서 켄터키블루그래스의 성장과 조성에 미치는 질소의 유형별 효과 (Evaluation of Various Slow-release Nitrogen Sources for Growth and Establishment of Poa pratensis on Sand-based Systems)

  • 질소는 색감과 품질을 유지하기 위한 잔디의 성장에 필요한 17가지 필수 영양성분중에 하나이다. 완효성 비료는 일정한 양의 질소 영양성분을 오랜기간 동안 제공하기 위해서 개발이 되었고 모래지반에서 특히 더 잘 용 탈되는 질소의 양을 줄이기 위해서 사용이 된다. 이 실험의 목적은 다양한 완효성 비료가 다른 비율로 시비 되었을때 잔디조성에 어떻게 영향을 미치는 지에 대해서 조사하였다. 총 6가지 질소비료가 실험되었으며 켄터키블루그래스가 파종과 뗏장을 위해 사용이 되었다. 뗏장으로 조성된 실험구가 파종으로 조성된 실험구 보다 182에서 518 g 예지물을 더 생산하였다. 파종으로 조성된 실험구중에서는 밀오거나이트가 가장 많은 뿌리의 건중량을 생산하였다. 파종과 뗏장은 잔디의 성장 기간이 다르기 때문에 예지물의 양과 뿌리의 건중량에서 차이가 난다. 본 실험의 결과에 따르면 밀오거나이트가 다른 5가지의 질소비료 보다 예지물의 생산이 적었으며 지하부의 성장이다 좋았으므로 켄터키블루그래스가 처음 조성이 될때는 밀오거나이트가 권장이 된다.
