This study aimed of effects of replacing maize with rice or brown rice on laying performance, egg quality, and apparent fecal digestibility of nutrient in Hy-Line Brown laying hens. A total of 200, 25-week old Hy-Line Brown laying hens were randomly assigned to one of 5 treatments, each of which was replicated 4 times. Four experimental diets that were formulated two different grains (brown rice or rice) with two inclusion levels of (15 and 30%) as a replacement of maize. The experimental period was 8 weeks. During the experiment, hens were provided with feed and water ad libitum and were exposed to a 16:8=L:D lighting schedule. There were no differences in feed intake, egg weight, and egg mass during the 8 weeks of the feeding trial among groups. However, hen-day egg production was greater (P<0.05) for Brown rice treatment groups than that for basal and rice treatment groups. In addition, the supplementation of brown rice or rice did not have an effect on eggshell strength, eggshell thickness, and HU during of the feeding trial (Table 4). However, egg yolk color was less (P<0.05) for basal treatment groups than that for among treatment group. ATTD of dry matter (DM) and crude fat were greater (P<0.05) for brown rice 15 treatment than for rice 30 treatment. Crude protein (CP) was greater (P<0.05) for brown rice 15 treatment than for basal treatment. In conclusion, brown rice or rice grains is a good alternative energy feedstuff and can be used in laying hens, totally replacing maize, without any negative effect on the laying performance, egg quality, and nutrient digestibility.

Strengthening the regulation standard of biological nutrient in wastewater treatment plant(WWTP), the necessity of repair of WWTP which is operated in conventional activated sludge process to advanced nutrient removal treatment is increased. However, in full-scale wastewater treatment system, it is not easy to fine the optimized operational condition of the advanced nutrient removal treatment through experiment due to the complex response of various influent conditions and operational conditions. Therefore, in this study, an upgrading design of conventional activated sludge process to advanced nutrient removal process using the modeling and simulation method based on activated sludge model(ASMs) is executed. And a design optimization of advanced treatment process using the response surface method(RSM) is carried out for statistical and systematic approach. In addition, for the operational optimization of full-scale WWTP, a correct analysis about kinetic variables of wastewater treatment is necessary. In this study, through partial least square(PLS) analysis which is one of the multivariable statistical analysis methods, a correlation between the kinetic variables of wastewater treatment system is comprehended, and the most effective variables to the advanced treatment operation result is deducted. Through this study, the methodology for upgrading design and operational optimization of advanced treatment process is provided, and an efficient repair of WWTP to advanced treatment can be expected reducing the design time and costs.
Effect of dietary nutrient composition on growth and body composition of juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus with different feeding strategy was determined. Twenty-five fish averaging 16 g were randomly distributed into 12, 180 L flow-through tank each. Four treatments in triplicates were prepared: fish were fed to satiation twice daily by the control diet for 8 weeks as the control group (Con) and fish were fed to satiation twice daily by the control and high nutrient diets for 6 weeks after 2-week fasting (2WS-6WFC, 2WS-6WFHN, respectively) and finally, fish were fed to satiation twice daily by the high nutrient diet for the consecutive 3 days after 4-day fasting for 8 weeks (4DS-3DFHN). No significant difference was found in either survival or weight gain of flounder among treatments. Feed efficiency ratio (FER) for fish in the 2WS-6WFHN treatment was significantly higher than that for fish in the Con and 2WS-6WFC treatments. Protein efficiency ratio (PER) of fish in the 2WS-6WFHN and 4DS-3DFHN treatments was significantly higher than that of fish in the 2WS-6WFC treatment. In conclusion, manipulation of dietary nutrient composition and/or feeding strategy can effectively improve growth of juvenile olive flounder without growth retardation at restricted feeding regime.

Herbs and plants widely used for the ecological restoration were selected for germination rate analysis under treatment of microorganisms to determine ideal treatment conditions and medium for enhanced germination rate. Albizzia julibrissin, when submerged in a nutrient medium or distilled water, presented a decrease in germination period rather than increase in germination rate. When treated with microorganism culture solution (JM-2) for 24 hours, 90% germination was achieved in two days, which is sufficient evidence to conclude that such treatment accelerates the germination of Albizzia julibrissin. Germination period decreased for Lespedeza cyrtobotrya samples submerged in microorganism solution for 15 and 48 hours, however, increases in germination rates were not observed. Sample treated in the solution for 24 hours had increased germination rate and enhanced germination period. Microorganism solution treatment had a negative effect on germination for Lespedeza cuneata, unlike Lespedeza cyrtobotrya and Albizzia julibrissin. Microorganism treated seeds of Lepsedeza cuneata had a lower germination rate than that of the control with no treatment. However, submerging treatments in a nutrient medium or distilled water for 24 to 48 hours were proven effective with higher germination rates than control sample with no treatment. The effect of nutrient concentration and plant growth regulators on rooting of Coleus stem cuttings were investigated. In contrast to sand cutting, the nutrient solution or plant growth regulator treatment increased the root numbers and root length. The concentration of nutrient solution were 1, l/2 and 1/4 strength of the balanced nutrient solution developed by Japanese Horticultural Experimental Station and the highest root growth was obtained from 1/4 strength nutrient concentration. NAA or IBA treatment in culture solution stimulated the rooting and 0.01mg/l of NAA or IBA was effective in root development. Furthermore, days for rooting were shortened and root growth were promoted by mixing nutrient solutions with plant growth regulators and by using cutting with leaves. The rooting of Coleus was observed under microscope and the adventitious root formation initiated at 3 days after cutting with nutrient and auxin mixture.

The present study was conducted to investigate whether dietary essential oils could affect growth performance, relative organ weights, cecal microflora, immune responses and blood profiles of broiler chickens fed on diets containing different nutrient densities. A total of eight hundred-forty 1-d-old male broiler chicks were randomly allotted into twenty-eight pens (7 pens per treatment, 30 chicks per pen). There were four experimental diets containing two different nutrient densities and supplemented with or without essential oils. Experimental period lasted for 35 days. No clear interaction between nutrient density and essential oils on any of growth performance-related parameters was observed. Live body weights were affected (p<0.05) by nutrient density at 21 days and by dietary essential oils at 35 days. Essential oils significantly (p<0.05) increased daily body weight gain and feed conversion ratio during the periods of 22 to 35 and 1 to 35 days, but failed to affect feed intake during the entire experimental period. Daily weight gain at 1 to 21 days and feed intake at 1 to 21 and 1 to 35 days were significantly impaired (p<0.05) by nutrient density. There were significant treatment interactions (p<0.05) on relative weights of bursa of Fabricius and abdominal fat contents. Finally, either essential oil or nutrient density did not influence the relative percentages of breast and leg meats, the population of cecal microflora, blood parameters and antibody titers against Newcastle disease and infectious bronchitis in broiler chickens. It was concluded that dietary essential oils, independent to nutrient density, failed to stimulate feed intake, but increased growth performance in broiler chickens.
This experiment was conducted to decide appropriate nutrient concentration for beet soilless culture by different nutrient concentration treatment between before and after root enlargement. Yamazaki's solution for head lettuce was used 0.5, 1, 2, 4 strength for before root enlargement and 0.5, 1, 2, 4 strength was treated after root enlargement. Root weight was good in 0.5, 1, 2 strength treatment before, then change treatment to 4 strength after root enlargement. But 4 strength treatment after root enlargement increase pithiness and root cracking. Vitamin C contents was low in 0.5 and 4 strength treatments after root enlargement. Betaxanthin and betacyanin were involved high concentration in lower nutrient concentration after root enlargement despite the treatments of before root enlargement. Therefore 1, 2 strength before root enlargement and 2 strength after root enlargement treatments is recommendable for nutrient culture of beet.
This study was conducted to find out the change of infernal quality, such as vitamin C and nitrate contents in some leaf vegetables grown hydropoincally in different nutrient conditions. Pak-choi (Brassica camperistis L. spp. chinesis Jusl.), chungchima (Lactuca sativa L. var. crispa cv. Chungchima) and romaine (Lactuca sativa L. var. longifolia Lam.) lettuces were cultivated for 2 weeks in 4 different nutrient solutions, such as tap water; no-nutrient, added $NH_4$, discarded $NO_3$, and supplied Yamazaki' solution for lettuce as a control. The growth of leaf vegetables was not different among nutrient solution treatments except tap water. The nitrate content showed the highest in control, and followed by $+NH_4$ treatment, $-NO_3$ and tap water treatment, regardless of kind of vegetables. The vitamin C content in 3 different vegetables showed the opposite result against nitrate content so that the treatment that showing the highest vitamin C content was tap water in romaine and chungchima lettuces, and $-NO_3$ treatment in pak-choi. The vitamin C and the nitrate content showed high correlations; $r=-0.614^*$ in pak-choi, $-0.651^*$ in romaine lettuce, and $-0.804^{**}$ in chungchima lettuce.
Sewage distribution rate in rural area is only 50% level than urban area. Normally, rural area sewage is focused on the reason of water source pollution owing to rural areas were located in near water source. The Korea government is effort to manage the rural community sewage for protect the water source. In this study conducted analysis on rural community sewage treatment plant(RCSTP) nutrient treatment efficiency using operation results on winter season. Research areas are newly constructed in Bong-hwa, Yeong-yang and An-dong areas which are located in near An-dong Im-ha Dam. Based on operation result, sludge retention time(SRT) and mixed liquer suspended solid(MLSS) were effected on RCSTP nutrient treatment efficiency. Thus, it is necessary to manage of operation condition for nutrient treatment efficiency in RCSTP during the winter season.

This study was conducted to evaluate effects of diethylene triamine penta acetic acid (DTPA) treatment on growth of red pepper and nutrient availability to salt accumulated soil in the plastic film house. The treatments were no application (Control), chemical fertilizers (NPK), DTPA (0.06, 0.13, and 0.19 mM) and the half of chemical fertilizers (NPK) with DTPA 0.06 mM. Fruit yield of red pepper showed no significant difference between the treatments (control, NPK, DTPA 0.06 mM, 0.13 mM, except for DTPA 0.19 mM. Red peppers were killed by DTPA 0.19 mM treatment because the high concentration of DTPA was toxic to crop. However, dry mass (stem and leave) and nutrient uptake of red pepper in DTPA 0.06 mM treatment increased significantly compared with those of control. In particular, nutrient uptake of red pepper in DTPA 0.06 mM treatment increased in the order of Fe, Mn, and Zn > Ca and Mg > K, as the magnitude of the stability constants of DTPA. Thus the application of DTPA 0.06 mM was the most effective for the alleviation of nutrient accumulation in the plastic film house soils.
