25시간 연속관측을 통한 섬진강 하구에서 시공간적 해양환경 변화 조절 요인 (Factors Controlling Temporal-Spatial Variations of Marine Environment in the Seomjin River Estuary Through 25-hour Continuous Monitoring)

  • 섬진강 하구에서 수온, 염분, pH, 용존산소, 부유입자물질, 영양염류, 엽록소 a의 시간에 따른 변화 양상을 파악하기 위해서 2006년 3월(건기)과 7월(우기)에 각각 25시간 연속관측을 실시하였다. 또한 공간적인 분포특성을 파악하기 위해서 염분경사에 따라 해양환경 조사를 실시하였다. 섬진강 하구에서 염분의 변화는 건기에는 조석주기, 우기에는 강물 유출량에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 용존무기영양염류(질산염, 아질산염, 규산염) 농도의 시공간적 분포는 건기에는 염분의 변화와 좋은 상관관계를 보였다. 반면 우기에는 시간에 따라 농도 변화가 작았다. 우기시 영양염류의 평균 농도는 건기에 비해 용존무기질산염의 경우 약 6배, 용존무기인의 경우 약 4배, 용존무기규산염의 경우 약 43배 높게 나타났다. 엽록소 a 농도는 용존무기영양염류의 농도가 높은 우기에 비해 건기에 높게 나타났다. 이 연구결과, 우기와 건기에 해양환경인자의 시공간적 분포는 조석과 강물유출량의 영향에 의해 결정되며, 엽록소 a의 분포는 용존무기영양염류의 분포보다는 담수의 유출량 변화와 연관성이 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Effects of dietary enzyme cocktail on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility of weaned pigs

  • Soybean, one of most widely used swine feed component in the world, contains non-starch polysaccharides (NSP). The digestive system of weaned pigs is not yet fully developed, and thus weaned pigs cannot easily digest diets based on corn and soybean meal. Dietary exogenous enzymes supplementation has been intensively investigated to assist digestion of anti-nutritional factors, such as NSP. This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary enzyme cocktail on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility of weaned pigs. A total 36 weaned pigs ($5.92{\pm}0.48kg\;BW$; 28 d old) were randomly allotted to 2 dietary treatments (3 pigs/pen, 6 replicates/treatment) in a randomized complete block design. The dietary treatments were a typical diet based on corn and soybean meal (CON) and CON with 0.05% enzyme cocktail (Cocktail; mixture of xylanase, ${\alpha}-amylase$, protease, ${\beta}-glucanase$, and pectinase). Pigs were fed their respective diets for 6 wk. Growth performance, morphology of ileum, apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of dry matter, crude protein, and energy of weaned pigs were measured. No significant differences (p > 0.05) were observed for growth performance for the duration of the experimental period, and morphology of ileum, and nutrient digestibility between CON and Cocktail treatment groups. Therefore, the results from the current study indicated that enzyme cocktail supplementation in diets had no influence on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility of weaned pigs.

Effects of Yucca Extracts and Protein Levels on Growth Performance and Nutrient Utilization in Growing Pigs

  • A total of 120 pigs were used to investigate the effects of yucca extracts on the growth performance, nutrient digestibility and excretion of growing pigs fed different levels of dietary protein. Pigs were allotted into $2{\times}3$ factorial design by the supplementation with yucca extract (YE, 0 and 120 mg/kg) and 3 levels of dietary protein (16, 18, 20%). During the whole experimental period (18 to 52 kg body weight), there were no significant differences in ADG, ADFI or F/G by YE addition or different protein levels among treatments (p>0.05). Overall, although addition of YE to the diet and elevation of protein level showed better ADG, there were no significant differences in growth performance among treatments. Pigs fed diets with YE showed significantly (p<0.05) higher dry matter (DM), crude ash (CA) and crude protein (CP) digestibility than did the others during the growing period. Concerning the levels of dietary protein, only the CP digestibility was significantly higher in pigs fed high protein diet. Pig fed the low protein diet without YE showed a significantly low CP digestibility (p<0.05). No significant differences were found in crude fat (CF), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) digestibilities regardless of YE supplementation or dietary protein levels. Pigs fed YE supplemented diets showed significantly (p<0.05) higher amino acid digestibility. Also, high CP level diets showed a higher amino acid digestibility than low CP diets (p<0.05). DM and N excretion did not show any significant differences among treatments, there was a slightly lower excretion with increase in dietary protein level. Supplementation with YE significantly decreased the DM and N excretion. Interaction (YE$\times$protein) was found in P excretion. Pigs fed a medium protein diet without YE showed the lowest P excretion during the growing period. The NH3-N content in the feces tended to be increased by the increased dietary protein levels and with YE supplementation. During the whole experimental period, the cost for YE supplementation was similar to value of the improvements of performance obtained. The cost of feeding high level protein was significantly higher than that of medium level protein by 10% and low level protein by 9% (p<0.05). It could be concluded that the effects of dietary protein level and yucca extract on growth performance, nutrient digestibility and excretion might play a role to some extent in growing pigs from the aspect of pollution control.

질소와 인 시비가 리기다소나무와 낙엽송의 낙엽 생산량 및 양분 동태에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilization on Nutrient Dynamics and Litterfall Production of Pinus rigida and Larix kaempferi)

  • 본 연구는 경기도 양평지역 내 서로 인접하여 있고 동일한 입지 환경 위에 생육하고 있는 41년생 리기다소나무와 낙엽송 조림지를 대상으로 질소와 인 시비처리가 리기다소나무와 낙 엽송의 낙엽 생산량 및 양분 동태에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여 수행되었다. 낙엽 생산량은 시료채취 시기와 수종간에 통계적으로 유의성이 인정된 반면, 시비 처리간에는 유의적인 차이가 없었던 것으로 나타났다. 연간 낙엽 생산량은 리기다소나무가 6,377 kg/ha 그리고 낙엽송이 4,778 kg/ha이었다. 낙엽 내 양분농도는 낙엽송이 리기다소나무에 비해 높았으며, 두 수종 모두 처리구간에 유의적인 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 낙엽 내 양분 농도는 낙엽송에서의 Ca 함량을 제외하고 두 수종 모두 연중 낙엽 생산량이 가장 많았던 늦가을에서 가장 낮았으며, 연중 낙엽 생산량이 가장 적었던 여름에 가장 높았던 것으로 나타났다. 또한 리기다소나무와 낙엽송 임분 임상의 총 유기물 함량은 24,296 kg/ha, 그리고 10,763 kg/ha였으며, 임상 내질소와 인의 함량은 리기다소나무가 126, 10 kg/ha, 그리고 102, 8 kg/ha로 각각 나타났다.

Pigs were fed their respective diets for 6 wk. Measurements were growth performance, morphology of ileum, apparent ileal digestibility and apparent total tract digestibility of dry matter, crude protein, and energy of weaned pigs. There were no significant differences on growth performance during overall experimental period. No differences were found for the morphology of ileum and nutrient digestibility between CON and Multi groups. Therefore, the results in the current study indicated that multi-enzyme supplementation in diets had no effects on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and nutrient digestibility of weaned pigs.

경상남도 산청군 밤나무 재배지의 조성 기간에 따른 토양 및 잎 양분 특성 (Soil and Leaf Nutrient Properties by Establishment Periods of Chesnut (Castanea crenata Sieb. et. Zucc.) Orchards in Sancheong-gun)

  • 경상남도 산청군 단성면과 신안면의 20년 이상 밤나무재배지 17개소, 19년 이하 재배지 13개소 등 총 30개소를 대상으로 조성 기간에 따른 토양의 물리화학적 특성 및 잎의 형태적 특성과 양분함량을 조사하였다. 토양 물리적 특성 중 토양용적밀도는 20년 이상 재배지가 $1.16g\;cm^{-3}$으로 19년 이하 재배지 $1.03g\;cm^{-3}$에 비해 유의적으로 높았다 (p<0.05). 토양 화학적 특성 중 토양 pH는 20년 이상 재배지의 토양 pH가 4.56으로 19년 이하 재배지 토양 pH 4.73에 비해 토양 산성화가 심하였으나 유기물, 전질소, 유효인산, 칼륨 함량은 조성 기간에 따른 차이가 나타나지 않았다 (p>0.05). 또한, 잎 면적, 잎 건중량, 잎 내 질소, 인, 칼륨, 칼슘, 마그네슘 함량도 조성 기간 사이에 차이가 없었다. 본 연구 결과에 따르면 밤나무재배지의 토양특성 중 조성 기간은 토양용적밀도 같은 물리적 특성에 변화를 초래하지만 토양 화학적 특성과 잎 양분함량에 미치는 영향은 크지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of dietary energy and lipase levels on nutrient digestibility, digestive physiology and noxious gas emission in weaning pigs

  • Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary energy and lipase supplementation on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, serum profiles, intestinal morphology, small intestinal digestive enzyme activities, biochemical index of intestinal development and noxious gas emission in weaning pigs. Methods: A total of 240 weaning pigs ([Yorkshire${\times}$Landrace]${\times}$Duroc) with an average body weight (BW) of $7.3{\pm}0.12kg$ were used in this 28-d experiment. Weaning pigs were randomly allocated to 4 dietary treatments in a $2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement with 2 levels of energy (net energy = 2,470 kcal/kg for low energy diet and 2,545 kcal/kg for basal diet) and 2 levels of lipase (0 and 1.5 U/g of lipase) according to BW and sex. There were 6 replications (pens) per treatment and 10 pigs per pen (5 barrows and 5 gilts). Results: Weaning pigs fed the low energy diet had lower (p<0.05) gain-to-feed ratio (G:F) throughout the experiment, apparent digestibility of dry matter, nitrogen, ether extract, and gross energy during d 0 to 14, average daily gain during d 15 to 28, lipase activity in duodenum and ileum and protein/DNA in jejunum (p<0.05), respectively. Lipase supplementation had no effect on growth performance but affected apparent nutrient digestibility (p<0.05) on d 14 and enhanced lipase activity in the duodenum and ileum and protease activity in duodenum and jejunum of pigs (p<0.05) fed the low energy diet. Lipase reduced serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglyceride (TG), $NH_3$ production (p<0.05) from the feces. Conclusion: The low energy diet decreased G:F throughout the experiment and nutrient digestibility during d 0 to 14 as well as lipase activity in duodenum and ileum. Lipase supplementation increased nutrient digestibility during d 0 to 14 and exerted beneficial effects on lipase activity in duodenum and ileum as well as protease activity in duodenum and jejunum, while reduced serum LDL-C, TG and fecal $NH_3$.

양액재배하(養液栽培下)에서 유황시비(硫黃施肥)가 옥수수(Zea mays L.) 생육(生育)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Sulfur on Corn(Zea mays L.) Seedling Growth under Nutrient Solution Culture)

  • 다양필수원소(多量必須元素)중의 하나인 유황(硫黃)이 옥수수의 초기생육에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여 1995년(年) 5월(月) 22일(日) 부터 1995년(年) 7월(月) 10일(日)까지 경희대학교(慶熙大學校) 수원(水原)캠퍼스 온실(溫室)에서 옥수수 광안옥 품종(品種)과 횡성옥 품종(品種)을 공시재료(供試材料)로 하여 7주간 양액재배로 실시하였다. 유황 시비처리는 양액에 $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$를 첨가하여 조절하되 양액중 유황농도는 무류황구(無硫黃區)(-S)가 0ppm, 대조구(對照區)(C)가 68ppm, 2배시용구(倍施用區)(2S)가 136ppm, 3배시용구(倍施用區)(3S)가 204ppm이 되도록 하였다. 파종후(播種後) 매주(每週)마다 옥수수의 초장(草長), 엽면적(葉面積), 건물중(乾物重)을 조사(調査)한 결과(結果)를 보면 7주간(週間)의 생육(生育)에 있어서 광안옥 품종(品種)의 초장(草長)은 C>2S>3S>-S구(區), 엽면적(葉面積)은 2S구(區)>C구(區)>3S구(區)>-S구(區), 그리고 건물중(乾物重)은 2S구(區)>3S구(區)>C구(區)>-S구(區) 순(順)으로 신장하였고 횡성옥 품종(品種)에 있어서 초장(草長)은 C구(區)>-S구(區)>3S구(區)>2S구(區), 엽면적(葉面積)은 C구(區)>3S구(區)>2S구(區)>-S구(區), 건물중(乾物重)은 C구(區)>3S구(區)>-S구(區)>2S구(區) 순(順)으로 증가(增加)하였다. 전실험기간(全實驗期間)동안 초장(草長), 엽면적(葉面積), 건물중(乾物重)을 통합한 결과(結果)는 두 품종(品種) 공히 무류황시용구(無硫黃試用區)(-S)에서 가장 저조(低調) 하였고 횡성옥 품종(品種)에서는 C구(區)가 가장 증가(增加)하였다. 작물생장율(作物生長率)(CGR)은 두 품종(品種) 모두 파종후(播種後)부터 3주(週)까지는 완만(緩慢)한 증가(增加)를 보이다가 파종후(播種後) 4주(週)째부터는 증감(增減)이 크게 교차(交叉) 현상을 보였지만 횡성옥 품종(品種)의 C구(區)는 계속 증가(增加)하였다.

Performance of Broiler Chicks Fed Normal and Low Viscosity Rye or Barley with or without Enzyme Supplementation

  • This experiment was conducted to measure nutrient digestibility and performance in broiler chicks fed diets based on normal and low viscosity rye or barley fed with and without enzyme (pentosanase and $\beta$-glucanase) during a 17 day growth trial. A total of 150 one-day old, male broiler chicks (5 birds per pen and 5 pens per treatment) were randomly assigned to one of six dietary treatments in a $3{\times}3$ factorial design experiment (3 cereals${\times}$2 enzyme levels). Digestibility coefficients were determined using chromic oxide. Digestibility coefficients for dry matter and crude protein were significantly (p=0.0001) higher for the barley-based diets than for any of the rye-based diets. Digestibility coefficients for gross energy did not differ (p>0.05) due to cereal grain. There were no differences in the digestibility coefficients for dry matter and gross energy between chicks fed normal and low viscosity rye. However, the digestibility coefficient for crude protein was higher (p=0.01) for the low viscosity rye compared with the normal viscosity rye. Addition of enzyme to the diet significantly (p=0.0001) increased digestibility coefficients for dry matter, crude protein and energy. There were no significant differences in weight gain, feed intake or feed conversion between birds fed barley or rye or between birds fed normal or low viscosity rye. Enzyme supplementation significantly improved (p=0.0001) weight gain, intake and feed conversion. The overall results of this experiment indicate that unsupplemented barley and rye do not support adequate growth rates in poultry. Enzyme supplementation dramatically improved broiler performance. In addition, genetic selection to reduce the viscosity of rye had only a modest effect on the nutritive value of rye for broilers.

Feed Restriction and Compensatory Growth in Guzerá Females

  • This study examined the effect of restricting feed intake and the subsequent compensatory growth in Guzera females. Eighteen animals with an initial age of 21 months and a mean weight of 268.17 kg were placed in three groups according to the alimentary regime: feed ad libitum; feed restricted to 20% dry matter; and feed restricted to 40% dry matter. In the restricted feed phase, the dry mater intake decreased as the restriction levels increased, influencing the reduction in intake of other nutrients. In the realimentation phase, the 40% restricted feed group ingested more dry matter (% BW) and crude protein ($weight^{0.75}$) than the group fed ad libitum (p<0.001). The serum nutrient concentrations were inversely proportional (p<0.001) to the restriction level, and there was no difference (p>0.001) in the realimentation phase. In the restricted feed phase, the final live weight decreased (p<0.05) as the restriction level increased. For the daily mean weight gain in the control group, there was no difference (p>0.05) compared to the animals with 20% feed restriction, but this was higher than in the group with 40% feed restriction. In the re-alimentation phase, the group with 40% feed restriction achieved higher weight gain rates, which was different from the control and 20% restriction groups. In both phases, the animals in the group with 40% feed restriction presented better feed conversion which was different (p<0.05) from the control group. In the feed restriction phase, it was observed that the intake of N, nitrogen excreted in feces and urine, nitrogen balance and nitrogen retention decreased (p<0.05) with the restriction level. None of the variables were influenced in the re-alimentation phase. These results show that feed restriction by 40% can be adopted as a nutritional management practice.
