관개수원에 따른 논에서의 영양물질 배출 특성 (Characteristics of Nutrient Export from Paddy Rice Fields with Irrigation Practices)

  • Field experimental study was performed to examine characteristics of nutrient export from paddy rice fields with irrigation practices. Experimental fields with surface-water and ground-water irrigation were monitored and analyzed during rice culture period. The water balance showed that outflow generally balanced the inflow showing that about half (58~68%) of total outflow was lost by surface drainage. Water and nutrient export are more in surface-water irrigation paddy than in ground-water irrigation paddy. The reasons might be more irrigation water available and easy to use in surface-water irrigation. If irrigation water reduced, it could result in reduction of nutrient export in paddy rice fields, which can save water and protect water quality. However, deviation from conventional standard practices might affect the rice yield and further investigations are necessary.

  • Baswflow is defined as short term discharge through groundwater caused by rainfall events. Impacts of baseflow is significant on water quality especially where pervious agricultural watershed as groundwater is more vulnerable to the contamination. In this study, the Cheongmicheon watershed was subjected to study to assess the impacts of baseflow on surface water quality, where more than 90% of pollutant load is originated from the livestock raising area, and very high probability of surface water contamination due to the baseflow. To estimate nutrient loading cased by baseflow, NI (Numerical Integration) model and LOADEST (LOADing ESTimation) model were used.

강우시 한강유역에서의 비점오염원 유출 특성과 토지이용도와의 관계 (Characteristics of Nonpoint Source Pollution and Relationship between Land Use and Nutrient Concentrations in the Han River Watershed)

  • Nonpoint source pollution has become a concern for water quality in the Han River system, especially during the high runoff events during the monsoon season. The patterns in nonpoint source runoff the relationships with land use, rainfall intensity, and stream nutrients concentrations were surveyed in 19 streams in the Han River watershed. The results show that the magnitude of NPS inputs of nutrients and sediment in the Han River watershed are of a serious concern. In the South Han River watershed, event mean concentrations (EMC) for biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), suspended sediment (SS), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), dissolved total phosphorus (DTP), total nitrogen (TN) Nitrate ($NO_3$-N) and total phosphorus (TP) were $1.94mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;251mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;2.75mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;0.076mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;2.82mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;2.40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and $0.232mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, respectively. In the North Han River watershed, EMCs for BOD, SS, DOC, DTP, TN, $NO_3$-N and TP were $1.34mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;172mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;2.63mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;0.032mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;1.97mg{\cdot}L^{-1},\;1.55mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and $0.148mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, respectively. The specific export coefficients of nutrient and sediments were much higher than those of other reports. Our study also found that the proportion of agricultural field area was significantly correlated with the EMCs for nutrients. Therefore, efforts to reduce NPS loading must focus on agricultural practices in the watershed. The relationships between land use and nutrient and sediment export found in this study can be used to derive estimates of runoff coefficients for agricultural field and as input data for modeling works and to develop total maximum daily load and best management practices in the Han River watershed.

Algae-based antioxidant containing selenium yeast (Economase®) enhanced the growth performance, oxidative stability, and meat quality of broiler chickens

  • Objective: An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of algae-based antioxidant containing Se yeast (EconomasE®) on the growth performance, visceral organ weight, meat quality, and oxidative stability of broiler chickens. Methods: Nine hundred sixty, day-old male broiler chickens (Cobb, 43.97±0.55 g) were divided into three dietary treatments and allocated into 12 deep litter pens in a completely randomized design giving 4 replicate cages for each treatment. Three dietary treatments were: i) control (CON, basal diet with sufficient nutrient), ii) vitamin E (VitE, basal diet supplemented with 100 IU VitE), and iii) Algae-based antioxidant containing Se yeast (EcoE, basal diet supplemented with 0.2% algae-based antioxidant containing Se yeast: EconomasE®). Maize soybean meal based basal diets were formulated to meet or exceed the nutrition requirement for broiler chickens. Chickens were fed ad-libitum experimental diets during the 42 days experiment period. On days 21 and 42, body weight and feed intake were measured to calculate the feed conversion ratio of the chickens. Intestine and visceral organs were measured together with meat quality and oxidative stability on days 14 and 42. Results: Chickens fed with EcoE showed improved (p<0.05) growth performance, meat quality, and higher (p<0.05) oxidative stability compared to the chicken fed on CON. Moreover, broiler chickens fed with EcoE showed similar (p<0.05) growth performance with better (p<0.05) meat quality and higher oxidative stability compared to the broiler chickens fed VitE (p<0.05). Conclusion: The algae-based antioxidant containing Se yeast can be supplemented into commercial broiler diets as a substitution of VitE while maintaining growth performance with enhancing meat quality and oxidative stability of the broiler chickens.

분열효모 핵공단백질인 Nup184의 기능에 필요한 부위 분석 및 SUMO 변성 (Analysis of a Region Required for the Functions of Fission Yeast Nucleoporin Nup184 and Its SUMO Modification)

  • Nup188 단백질은 진화적으로 보존된 가장 큰 핵공단백질 중의 하나로 핵공복합체의 inner ring을 구성하는 인자이다. Nup188의 이종상동체인 분열효모 S. pombe의 Nup184 단백질은 영양분이 풍부한 완전배지(YES 배지)에서 정상적인 생장과 mRNA의 핵에서 세포질로의 이동에 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 ${\Delta}nup184$ 결실돌연변이를 YES 배지에서 배양할 때 보이는 생장지체와 mRNA export 결함을 상보하기 위해서 Nup184의 카르복시 부위(아미노산 잔기482에서 1628까지)가 필요함을 알아내었다. 또한 이 부위는 GFP-Nup184 융합단백질이 핵막에 위치하기 위해서도 필요하였다. 이 과정에서 S. pombe GeneDB (Sanger 연구소, 영국)에 등록되어 있는 Nup184의 열린읽기틀 (1564개의 아미노산 잔기로 된 단백질로 예측)이 우리가 얻은 염기서열 데이터에 비해 66개의 아미노산 잔기가 짧다는 것을 발견하였다. 이 카르복시-말단 부위는 Nup184의 기능에 반드시 필요하였다. 이외에도 Nup184 단백질이 세포 안에서 SUMO 변형되어 있음을 보였다.

임고천상류 소규모 농업유역에서 하천으로의 질소, 인 및 유기물의 부하 (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Organic Carbon Discharges in the Imgo Small Agricultural Watershed Catchment)

  • 영양염류는 하천이나 저수지의 부영양화를 유발하며 농경지는 영양원소의 주된 오염원으로 지적되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 농업 비점오염원에 의한 영양염류 유출 현상을 구명하기 위하여 경북 영천군 임고천 상류의 소유역에서 질소, 인, 유기물의 연간 부하량을 조사하였다. 유역 총면적은 1,420ha 였고 그 중에서 논과 밭을 포함한 경작지 면적은 약 25% 였으며 나머지는 대부분 산림이었고, 한우와 돼지 등의 가축 사육이 농가별로 소규모로 이루어지고 있었다. 조사 기간 동안 하천수중의 $NO_3-N$, $NH_4-N$, Total N, Total P 및 COD의 농도는 각각 4.95, 0.80, 6.72, 0.07 및 2.51mg/L였다. 97년도 연간 총 하천유수량은 6,681,500m3로 평가되었으며, $NO_3-N$, $NH_4-N$, Total N, Total P 및 COD의 연간 부하량은 각각 28,991, 3,010, 37,006, 590, 29,138kg으로 추정되었다. 강우량과 하천 유수량 사이에는 밀접한 정의 상관관계가 있었으며, 오염물질의 배출량 또한 유수량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였고 화학비료의 시용 시기와도 일치하여 강우량이 많았던 5월부터 8월 사이에 대부분의 영양염류의 부하가 발생하였다. 조사유역의 산업이 농업활동에 국한되어 있는 것을 감안할 때 이들 오염물질의 부하는 농경지로부터의 유실과 축산활동 등을 포함한 농업 비점오염원에 의한 것으로 볼 수 있으며 각 비점오염원별 부하량 정도를 구명하고 이를 제어할 수 있는 다양한 대책이 강구되어야 할 것이다.

식물생산공장식 양액재배시 근권부 온도가 장미의 생육 및 품질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Root Zone Temperature on the Growth and Quality of Single-Stemmed Rose in Cutted Rose Production Factory)

  • 장미 식물공장식 양액재배는 고품질의 절화를 대량으로 계획 생산할 수 있는 시스템으로 장미 수출증가에 따라 기존의 재배 방식에서 식물공장 형태로의 전환이 필수적이다. 또한 식물공장에서의 경제적이고, 효율적인 생산을 위한 지하부 환경의 최적 관리 기술 개발이 절실한 실정이다. 따라서 장미 식물공장에 적합한 single-stemmed rose 수경재배시 배양액의 온도과 같은 지하부 환경요인이 장미의 생육과 품질에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 실험하였다. 배양액의 온도에 따른 'Red Velvet'의 광합성률, 증산량, 생육 및 수량이 $15\~20^{\circ}C$에서 높게 나타나 적정 배양액 온도임을 알 수 있었다. 반면에 'Vital'은 $10\~15^{\circ}C$에서 생육이 가장 왕성하고 $30^{\circ}C$의 고온에서는 거의 생육이 이루어지지 않아 'Red Velvet'과는 달리 고온의 배양액에 대한 적응력이 낮은 것으로 나타났다.

Suspended Solids Export by the Outflowing Water from Irrigation Paddy Field during Rice Growing Season of Korea

  • This experiment was conducted in Suwon and Iksan city from 2012 to 2014 to evaluate soil erosion and nutrient loss from irrigated paddy fields during cropping period. Rainfall amount and rainfall erosivity of $EI_{30}$ were, on average, 1,026 mm and $3,922mm\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}hr^{-1}$ for the cropping period, respectively, and the rainfall event with maximum $EI_{30}$ occurred in July. Annual average of runoff was $2,508MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ in Suwon and $3,375MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ in Iksan, accounting for 36% of rainfall of the cropping period. Nutrient loss by runoff, on average, was $7.0kg\;N\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$, $1.3kg\;P\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$, and $16.6kg\;K\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$; N, P, and K loss were 5.0, 0.6, and $8.3kg\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$, respectively, in Suwon and 8.9, 1.9, and $16.7kg\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ in Iksan. Soil loss in Korean paddy rice was evaluated as $0.33MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ ranging from $0.05MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$ to $0.88MT\;ha^{-1}yr^{-1}$. Amount of soil loss, however, depended on areas and year influenced by variation of rainfall amount and intensity. Interestingly, soil erosion in Iksan in 2012 was remarkably greater than those in other periods due to heavy rainfall between late May and June with soil flake dispersion right after the rice-planting season.

국내 가축분뇨 자원화 특성을 고려한 OECD 질소수지 산정법의 지역단위 적용 연구 (Regional Application of the OECD Nitrogen Budget Considering Livestock Manure Compost)

  • The Nutrient budget is one of the agricultural-environment indicators of OECD. A nutrient budget measures the surplus as the differential between the inputs and the outputs of within a certain boundary and within a specified period of time (i.e. one year). According to OECD, the annual nitrogen budget for Korea was $245kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ in 2014, which corresponds to the first position among OECD countries. In Korea in 2014, about 90 % of livestock excreta was composted as solid and liquid manure, which are usually and customarily spread on agricultural land. The objectives of this study are intended to suggest methodology of the regional nitrogen budget as a nitrogen management tool, which considers conversion from raw excreta to composted manures based on the methodology of OECD/Eurostat, and application of the new method in an agricultural region of Korea. As a result, the calculated excess rate of hydrospheric nitrogen surplus was $251kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$ (in the region in 2014), which indicates the presence of potential risks emanating from excessive nitrogen, with regard to both export water and soil environments. The findings also assert that this was shown to be one of the most important elements in the nitrogen budget, which translates to the actual amounts of nitrogen lost during the solid composting process. To better understand the process and the reliability of the method, it is necessary to analyze the sensitivity of the relevant co-efficients used in the method in the near future.

하천변 양배추 밭에서의 영양물질의 거동 (Nutrient Behavior in an Upland Field of Cabbage Adjacent to the River)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the dynamics of nutrients such as total nitrogen (TN), nitrate nitrogen ($NO_3$-N) total phosphorous (TP), and phosphate phosphorous ($PO_4$-P) in outflow from a cabbage farmland in a mixed land-use watershed. The TN concentrations in groundwater showed twice peaks in late July 2006 and late March 2007 (3.8, 4.7 mg/L, respectively), when it rained shortly after fertilizer application, indicating that nitrogen leaching is greatly influenced by fertilization and rainfall. The mean concentrations of TN and $NO_3$-N in surface water were not significantly higher than those in groundwater, while the mean concentrations of TP and $PO_4$-P in surface water were significantly (p < 0.05) were higher than those in groundwater. The TN concentrations in groundwater were generally higher than those in surface water during fertilization and early growing season due to the effect of fertilization, but vice versa in the other periods. In contrast, the TP concentrations in groundwater were always lower than those in surface water due to the sorption of particulate phosphorous by soil. The ratio of TN load in baseflow to that in total TN load (39 %) was much greater than the TP ratio (7 %), suggesting that baseflow contribute to nitrogen export. Therefore, proper fertilization management should be taken to reduce nitrogen load through baseflow.
