Purpose: To examine geographical imbalances by analyzing new graduate nurses' migration patterns among regions where they grew up, attended nursing school, and had their first employment and to identify factors related to working in non-metropolitan areas. Methods: The sample consisted of 507 new graduates working in hospitals as full-time registered nurses in South Korea. Migration patterns were categorized into 5 patterns based on sequential transitions of "geographic origin-nursing school-hospital." Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors associated with working in non-metropolitan hospitals. Results: Nurses who grew up, graduated, and worked in the same region accounted for the greatest proportion (54%). Sixty-five percent had their first employment in the region where they graduated. Nurses tended to move from poor to rich regions and from non-metropolitan to metropolitan areas. Working in non-metropolitan hospitals was related to older age, the father having completed less than 4 years of college education, non-metropolitan origin, non-capital city school graduation, and a diploma (vs. baccalaureate) degree. Conclusion: Admitting students with rural backgrounds, increasing rural nursing school admission capacities, and providing service-requiring scholarships, particularly for students from low-income families, are recommended to address geographical imbalances.

This study was undertaken to identify the perception and sexual attitude of nursing students and obstetrics and pediatric nurses towards unwed mothers, and to identify differences in the general characteristics. Data were collected as a self-reported questionnaire survey from September, 2018 to January, 2019. Subjects included 94 nursing students enrolled at 2 nursing colleges, and 101 nurses of 8 hospitals located in the B & C Metropolitan. The data collected was analyzed by descriptive statistics, frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Comparing results obtained from nursing students and nurses revealed a statistically significant difference in their overall perception of an unwed mother and sexual attitude. The perception of an unwed mother showed significant differences considering the grade, age and sibling status of nursing students, whereas nurses revealed significantly different perceptions according to their age, occupational position, clinical career, career of current work department, marital status, and children status. Sexual attitude was significantly different for nursing students according to their experience contact with unwed mother, whereas perception of nurses differed significantly for sexual attitude according to experience contact with unwed mother, types of hospital, and marital status. We propose that data obtained from this research can be used as basic data for research and education related to the perception of unwed mothers and sexual attitude of nursing students and nurses.

Professional socialization was measured by revised Professional Socialization Scale(52 items, 5-Likert). A total of 135 students were participated. Result: Professional-social image showed stronger effect rather than traditional-personal image on Professional socialization. Commitment and Decision making were potent factors on traditional-personal image, and Commitment, Maturity, Independence and Decision making were statistically significant to explain professional-social image. Factors influenced positively professional socialization were job satisfaction and professional-social image. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that focus of nursing education have to shift in values and personality traits to professional-oriented value system. Results indicate the importance of encouraging professional socialization and cultivation of positive, personal self-esteem for nursing students through establishing nursing identity. Also, clinical role model was trained effectively.

Methods: Subjects were 123 male nursing junior and senior students in B city, U city, and GN area. Career types were classified into a hospital nurse and a community nurse. Subjects were asked about 29 items of nurse image and 31 items of satisfaction on clinical practice. The collected data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation, t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, and logistic regression, using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The percentage of career choice which subjects hoped when admitted into nursing universities consisted of hospital nurses of 77.2%, while the percentage changed to hospital nurses of 52.8% at the time of this survey. The nurse image represented as an influencing factor, and it was found that if nurse image score increased one unit, the hoping units of career type of hospital nurse increased 2.69 times. Conclusion: The educational institutions have to provide career education programs and information concerned to not only hospital nurses but also community nurses, and further studies on the positioning and expanding roles of community male nurses need to be conducted.

Purpose: This study investigates the participation status in clinical nursing education and nurses' continuing education needs to develop educational programs. Methods: Participants were 227 nurses working in medical institutions where nursing students practiced, and the selection criteria were nurses with more than two years of clinical education experience; data were collected using structured questionnaires.
