Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the worker's service quality of the elders at a nursing home. Methods: A total of 371 workers, who were engaged in caring for the elders at a nursing home in B-Metropolitan city and Kyungnam, answered the questionnaires regarding the knowledge & skills of service, information cognition and service quality for the elders related to their clients. Results: Service quality for the elders was significantly correlated to the level of knowledge and skills, as well as the information cognition for the elders, and frequency of educational participation. Service quality for the elders was statistically significant predictors of knowledge and skills, and information cognition for the elders. These two variables accounted for 37% of the variance in service quality for the elders. Conclusion: In order to improve the worker's care level, the workers engaged in caring for the elders should make the efforts to be given a nursing education related to the knowledge & skills, as well as the information for the elders.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the relationship among musculoskeletal problems, sleep problems, and self-rated mental health of home-care workers. Methods: Data were collected from 447 home-care workers spanning three occupation types: life supporters for the elderly, home-visit caregivers, and life supporters for the disabled. Musculoskeletal problems, sleep problems, and self-rated mental health were assessed using structured questionnaires. Factors affecting self-rated mental health were analyzed using multiple regression. SPSS was used to test the mediating effects of sleep problems on musculoskeletal problems and self-rated mental health. Results: Among the general characteristics, the variables that showed significant differences in musculoskeletal problems were monthly income level, caring-related career duration, weekly working hours, and occupation type; and the variable that showed significant differences in self-rated mental health was occupation type. Among the occupation types, supporters for the disabled had the most musculoskeletal problems and the lowest self-rated mental health. Musculoskeletal problems among home-care workers had a direct negative effect on self-rated mental health and indirect negative effects on sleep problems. Conclusion: Measures are needed to reduce the differences in working conditions and health status among the occupation types of home-care workers. Considering the relevance between the health issues of home-care workers, the development of a carefully designed health promotion strategy is required.

Methods: The participants were 124 home visitor care workers who had worked for more than six months at one of the five home-based welfare centers located in D metropolitan city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis using the SPSS program. Results: The quality of care service differed significantly by age (F=-1.03, p<.001), career (F=5.09, p=.002), and education status (F=9.57, p<.001). A statistically significant positive relationship was observed between the quality of care service and self-efficacy (r=.63, p<.001). A total of 55.3% of the variance of quality of care service was explained by age and self-efficacy. Conclusion: Based on the results, it is necessary to develop and prepare programs that can increase the self-efficacy of home visitor care workers through a nursing approach to improve the quality of life of elderly.

Results: For all hand hygiene scenarios, the total correct answer rate was 71.5%. On the necessary hand hygiene moments, the compliance rate was 68.3%. With respect to the general characteristics of the participants, knowledge on hand hygiene moments showed a statistically significant difference according to clinical career(p=.001), and existence of infection controller or infection control office in the nursing home(p=.038). Compliance showed differences according to clinical career(p=.023), existence of infection controller or infection control office in the nursing home(p=.033), and training experience in hand hygiene(number of times/year)(p=.035). Knowledge and compliance showed a statistically significant positive correlation(r=.90, p<.001). Conclusions: It is necessary to develop and operate an infection control education program that can improve the knowledge and awareness of hand hygiene moments and considers the individual characteristics geriatric hospitals's nursing care workers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the experience and meaning of falls among care workers caring for the elderly. Methods: The participants comprised 10 care workers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The data collection period was from September to November 2020, and the data were obtained through individual in-depth interviews. The collected data were analyzed using the content analysis method of qualitative research. The main interview questions were as follows: First, in the event of a fall, "can you tell us about your experience and how you dealt with the fall?; second, "can you tell us about your role and the role of family members or the center that manages falls that occur outside of nursing visits.", third, "can you tell us about the difficulties in managing falls based on your experience?", and fourth, "how are falls that occur during nursing visits managed?" Results: As a result of analyzing the experiences of nursing care workers of falls while caring for elders in their homes, five main themes were derived. These were understanding the characteristics of the elderly at home, understanding possible emergency situations, providing caring services, minimizing physical harm, and delivering clear information. Conclusion: A significant finding of this study was that care workers who visit and provide care to elders at home confirmed the need for standard guidelines on appropriate responses in the event of a fall at home and the importance of managing emergencies arising from falls among elders at home.
