고장시간 자료의 통계적 분석을 위한 PWF-GPH 방법 (PWF-GPH method for the statistical analysis of failure time data)

  • In this paper, a life distribution fitting method based on generalized phase-type distributions(GPH) is presented. By fitting the life distribution to a GPH, we can utilize various useful properties of the GPH. Two different approaches are used according to the properties of the given failure time data. One is an approximation to a GPH through the piecewise Weibull failure rate(PWF) model and the other is a direct approximation to a GPH using the empirical distribution function. Two numerical examples are also presented. In the first example, both of the two approaches are utilized and compared for an incomplete data set. And in the second example, the direct approximation method from an empirical distribution is utilized for the analysis of a complete data set. In both cases, we could confirm the validity of the proposed method.

  • We consider the M/M/c/c queues in which the customers blocked to enter the service facility retry after a random amount of time and some of idle servers can leave the vacation. The vacation time and retrial time are assumed to be of phase type distribution. Approximation formulae for the distribution of the number of customers in service facility and the mean number of customers in orbit are presented. We provide an approximation for M/M/c/c queue with general retrial time and general vacation time by approximating the general distribution with phase type distribution. Some numerical results are presented.

Localized particle boundary condition enforcements for the state-based peridynamics

  • The state-based peridynamics is considered a nonlocal method in which the equations of motion utilize integral form as opposed to the partial differential equations in the classical continuum mechanics. As a result, the enforcement of boundary conditions in solid mechanics analyses cannot follow the standard way as in a classical continuum theory. In this paper, a new approach for the boundary condition enforcement in the state-based peridynamic formulation is presented. The new method is first formulated based on a convex kernel approximation to restore the Kronecker-delta property on the boundary in 1-D case. The convex kernel approximation is further localized near the boundary to meet the condition that recovers the correct boundary particle forces. The new formulation is extended to the two-dimensional problem and is shown to reserve the conservation of linear momentum and angular momentum. Three numerical benchmarks are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed approach.

  • In this study we consider a CONWIP system in which the processing times at each station follow a Coxian distribution and the demands for the finished products arrive according to a compound Poisson process. The demands that are not satisfied are backordered according to the number of demands that exist at their arrival instants. For this system we develop an approximation method to calculate order based performance measures such as the mean time of fulfilling a customer order and the mean number o: customer orders. For the analysis of the proposed CONWIP system, we model the CONWIP system as a closed queueing network with a synchronization station and analyze the closed queueing network using a product form approximation method. Numerical tests show that the approximation method provides fairly good estimation of the performance measures of interest.

쇄교자속비를 이용한 변압기 보호 (Flux Linkages Ratio-Based Transformer Protection)

  • This paper describes a transformer protective relaying algorithm based on the ratio of increments of flux linkages (RIFL) of the primary and secondary windings. The algorithm uses integration approximation. The RIFL is equal to the turns ratio for all operating conditions except for an internal fault. For a single-phase transformer and a Y-Y transformer, the increments of flux linkages (IFL) are calculated. For a Y-$\Delta$ transformer, the difference of IFL are calculated to use the line currents rather than the delta winding currents, which are unavailable. Their ratios are compared with the turns ratio. The comparative study between the proposed and conventional differentiation approximation methods was conducted. The test results show that the algorithm reduces the approximation errors of the conventional methods.

생체모방 로봇을 위한 비선형 항법 필터 (A Nonlinear Navigation Filter for Biomimetic Robot)

  • A nonlinear navigation filter for biomimetic robot using analytic approximation of mean and covariance of state variable is proposed. The approximations are performed at the time update step in the filter structure. The mean is approximated to the 3rd order of Taylor's series expansion of true mean and the covariance is approximated to the 3rd order either. The famous EKF is a nonlinear filtering method approximating the mean to 1st order and the covariance to the 3rd order. The UKF approximate them to the higher orders by numerical method. The proposed method derived a analytical approximation of them for navigation system and therefore don't need so called sigma point transformation in UKF. The simulation results show that the proposed method can be a good alternative of UKF in the systems which require less computational burden.

  • In this paper, the polarization of piezoelectric materials is considered to improve actuation since the piezoelectric polarization has influences on the performance of the actuator. The topology design of compliant mechanism can be formulated as an optimization problem of material distribution in a fixed design domain and continuous approximation of material distribution (CAMD) method has demonstrated its effectiveness to prevent the numerical instabilities in topology optimization. The optimization problem is formulated to maximize the mean transduction ratio subject to the total volume constraints and solved using a sequential linear programming algorithm. The effect of CAMD and the performance improvement of actuator are confirmed through Moonie actuator and PZT suspension design.

  • Simple-closed expressions for approximate calculation of quality of service (QoS) metrics of isolated cell of wireless networks with either finite or infinite queues of both new and handover calls are developed. It is assumed that both kinds of calls might leave the system without receiving service if their waiting times exceed some threshold value. For the models with infinite queues of heterogeneous calls easily checkable ergodicity conditions are proposed. The high accuracy of the developed approximation formulas is shown. Results of numerical experiments are given.
