Seoul Metro railway facilities' inspection and maintenance tasks cause failure analysis, but if there is trouble the diverse cause investigation and the systematic analysis and management among broken facilities, related facilities and components fell short and the conditions are different. And, excess and insufficiency, under inspection and maintenance, is being raised regardless of the introduction year and the operating environment including the number of use by applying the same facilities in the uniform inspection cycle. In this study, we will analysis systematically facility system information, failures, operational status, performance, fault and maintenance information resulting from the maintenance management of railway facilities and derive the relationship between associated equipment and its components. In addition, optimizing the inspection and the maintenance cycles of railway facilities, we will improve the reliability of operation. Considering the probability of risk, it is possible to predict the occurrence of accidents or faults and to minimize the frequency of breakdown by pre-inspection maintenance. Finally, This paper is to introduce the content of constructing the Seoul Metro RCM-based failure analysis system for railway facilities to support the optimal continuance of operation status of equipments and the securement of the safe operation of vehicles.
This paper presents an advanced approach to simulate AC electric railway system in steady-state. The algorithm consists of two parts. One is circuit modeling of elements of electric railway system, the other is an analysis on electric circuit. The modeling procedure has two steps, in the first step, proposed is the modeling method which is considered to be an internal impedance of the autotransformers and mutual impedances between the feeding systems. For the load(locomotives) modeling which is the second step, improved results are obtained as application to the proposed constant power model compared with constant impedance model. In the analysis on electric circuit, a generalized analysis method using the loop equation has been proposed and there is no limit in the number of trains between the ATs. In addition, the computer simulation by the proposed model was practiced. Simulation result seems very reasonable. It is therefore concluded that techniques for the electric circuit modeling and analysis have been established. Accuracy of the techniques will be further investigated.
The RPN provides information which includes the risk level and the priority order of maintenance tasks for components. However, if there is no sufficient historical failure data, the historical failure data from other sources can be applied to the target system. And if we use historical data from other sources without any process, there will be concomitant problems according to a discord of each system characteristic, a difference between the present and the date of failure data, etc. In this paper, a new methodology is proposed to model the failure rate as a fuzzy function to resolve these problems. Taking advantage of this result, the RPN can be calculated by using the fuzzy operation. The proposed method is applied to the substation system.
Whenever the accidents occur in the railway areas, their prompt recovery is very important. The individual way has been used to resolve these accidents by direct visiting the site and reporting to others who cares for these cases. As a result, we are planning to operate the MTS (Moving picture Transmission System) for a timely information's transmission to the related peoples in the central control center by transforming the picture information on the accident-site to the digital information. The proposed system is not a transmission system using exclusive lines, but utilizing the existing railway computer network. We construct a network server device so that a dispatcher can easily connect with the server through the railway intranet. In some railway environments such as disturbed field situations and geographical condition(in tunnels and bridges, etc) building up the wired network is difficult. Solving this problem, we reviewed the wireless network. Finally we proposed the mixed wireless network that is able to cover the wired network. We then installed and tested the wired network and wireless network respectively in wayside of a railway field. Through the testing, we identified many detailed matters for some network construction approaches to the control room and many field device-connecting schemes. This research will contribute to minimize the number of staff dispatched to a disturbed field, decrease the accident recovery time and improve the quality of service to the passenger.
This paper aims to suggest the feasibility of rapid operation scheme generated in preceding study, 'A study on development of operation planning for rapid service in urban railway(An introduction)' through application it to present subway lines in Seoul Metropolitan area. In case of line 3, without the Passing Track 'Turning train outstrip mode' is the best policy. In case of line 4, with the Passing Trank 'Passing track mode' may be the best way to realize the this scheme. Also, there is feasibility in the line 1, line 5, line 6, line 7 but there is no possibility it is applied to line 2 and line 8. In conclusion, this paper is intend to suggest the possibility of rapid operation in urban railway by presenting real operation scheme, time tables and amount of power usage and the number of composing trains and variety of demand,

For the reduction and efficient management of railway noise, first of all prediction of railway noise is necessarily requisted. At home and abroad many studies for prediction of raiiway nearby noise have been accomplished. But it is impossible to predict easily and exactly for the Korean Railway, because the acoustic powers for each rolling stock operated in Korea have not been built yet. So in this study, prediction model equation for environmental noise for Korean rolling stock Mugungwha was suggested using SEL of engine and rolling noise component separately. In this prediction model, the number of car, distance from the rail can be considered. Finally for the validation of prediction nlodel equation, the predicted Leq was compared to the measured Leq.

Despite the number of steel bridges being under in service more than 50 years reaches about $50\%$ in present, the Quantitative estimation in maintenance on steel railway bridges is not possible because a ton of the field data in the bridges have not been plentifully accumulated. Therefore a series of field tests on the steel plate girder bridge and steel truss bridge, the typical types of steel railway bridges, are executed, and the stress characteristics according to the structural types of the bridges are Quantitatively estimated in this study.

The paper presents methods of determining the capacity and installation positions of regenerative inverters installed in DC 1500V electric railway system. We suggested a method that approximates using parameters related to substations where regenerative inverters are installed, railway lines and operating motor cars, and another that calculates using regenerative power obtained from Train performance Simulation (TPS) and Power Flow Simulation (PFS). We carried out TPS and PFS for Seoul Subway Line $5{\sim}8$, calculating regenerative power and determining substations where regenerative inverters would be installed and the optimal capacity and number of inverters to be installed.
This paper presents the procedures and the results conducted by the proposed one for the risk assessment based on the accident statistics in the Korean railway. Approximately 1200 accident data were used for this study, and risk models were developed to describe the potential hazards. A risk assessment was conducted using the potential problem analysis technique qualitatively. Additionally, this study performed a regional risk assessment. The results of this study showed that the risks for collisions between trains and derailment are relatively low. However, grade crossing and public accident and accidents of workers on tracks take high risks. A large number of accidents is concentrated on the three regions such as Suwon, Chunan, and Chungrangri.
This study analyzed the educational background, career, and post-retirement activities of notable bureaucrats employed at Chosun Railway Bureau during the Japanese colonial period in Korea. First, significantly, most railway bureaucrats were of Japanese origin, being specialized in railway operations and adjusted to occupation in a reserved organizational environment for a considerable time period. Second, the Japanese showed explicit eagerness to work at the Chosun Railway, which fitted their ideology of railway bureaucrats. In addition, almost 60% of the bureaucrat population had strong educational experience from Tokyo Imperial University, which is equal to the percentage of graduates from other institutions operating during the Japanese colonial period. Moreover, in the very early period of building the railway system, the demand for specialists was higher than for other jobs and divisions because of the railroad's complex infrastructure, which resulted in high job appointment rates. In a similar sense, based on a strong affiliation of bureaucrats with railways, the number of bureaucrats from Japanese Railway Worker's Bureau was higher initially because of bureaucrats from South Manchurian Railway Company. These changes essentially contributed to alteration of bureaucrats' awareness and created a more positive attitude regarding the Chosun Railway. In the meantime, as opposed to the Taiwan and Manchurian Railways, both Chosun Railway and the Taiwan Railway were operated in compliance with strong bureaucratic traditions.
