The mechanical etching technique has recently been developed to a powder blasting technique for various materials, capable of producing micro structures larger than 100$\mu$ m. This paper describes the performance of powder blasting technique in micro-pocketing of stainless steel and the effect of the number of nozzle scanning and the nozzle height on the depth and width of pockets. Experimental results showed that increasing the no. of nozzle scanning and decreasing the nozzle height resulted in the increase of depth and width in pockets. Increase of width results from wear of mask film.
An innovating technique of atomizer has been proposed to supply and to atomise molten materials. Both of a simple geometry of nozzle and an improved nozzle have been fabricated in the present study. With these nozzles, characteristics of the suction and disintegration have been empirically investigated. The important conclusions are as follows; In the case of a simple nozzle: 1) Although the sucking up and supplying of molten materials are available, the applications of powder metallurgy are limited. 2) It is concluded that the more air flow rate, $W_A$ or the shorter the height of air nozzle from the surface of supplied water, $L_h$, the more the atomizing mass of liquids, $W_L$. In the case of an improved nozzle: 3) The stable liquids can be supplied due to cut off the passage of surrounding air entrainment by air jets. 4) The atomizing mass of liquids, $W_L$ has affected not so much on the height of nozzle from the surface of supplied water, $L_h$ as that from the orifice, hc.
For maximum seeding efficiency of a nozzle type seeder, the performance of the nozzle should be considered sufficiently. This study was carried out to investigate the optimum operating conditions of a seeder attached the vacuum nozzle which was modified syringe needle acting on the plug seedling tray and the seed plate. Such operating factors as the hole diameter of the nozzle (d), the distance from the nozzle tip to the bottom plate of seed hopper(D) the absorbing air pressure of the nozzle tip(P) the bounding height of seed from the vibrated bottom plate of seed hopper and the seeding speed were selected based on the weight of a grain of seed(W). The treated materials were pepper seed as the flat type, cucumber seed as the oval type and radish seed as the spherical type. The optimum operating conditions of the experimental seeder were revealed as follows: 1. The height of the seed bounding from the bottom plate of seed hopper and the distance from nozzle tip to bounded seed were 5 mm and 0.5 mm at all seeds. The hole diameter of the nozzle and the absorbing pressure for pepper seed, cucumber seed and radish seed was 0.45 mm, 0.65 mm. 0.65mm and 39.2 kPa, 88.3 kPa, 58.8 kPa, respectively. 2. The absorbing pressure P was represented as P=η.4W/$\pi$d$^2$ where η was 100. The seeding speed using a 128 cell tray was 2.4 cm/s which was same transfer as 2.5 trays per minute. 3. The maximum seeding rate in case of the pepper seed was 97% the cucumber seed was 95% and the radish seed was 100% under the optimum operating conditions of the seeder.
The proper nozzle spacings have been tried to determined the better evenness of distribution on the development of the boom type nozzle system with three nozzles made in Korea-disk type, cap type and bolt type. The operating pressure has been changed in 7 levels ($2kg/cm^2-8kg/cm^2$) and the operating height in 3 levels (30, 40, 50cm) to find characteristics of deposit pattern and the proper spacing of each nozzle was examined and computed. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The CU(%) of the deposit distribution was improved with the operating pressure of $5kg/cm^2$ or $6kg/cm^2$ in Nozzle A with 80% and Nozzle C with 83%, and $7kg/cm^2$in Nozzle B with 80% 2. The better deposit distribution was got ten at operating height 40cm with CU 86% in Nozzle A, and 50cm in both Nozzle B, C with 80% 3. The spray deposit distribution was getting of improvement with decrease of nozzle spacing, nevertheless about half diameter of the spraying circle was recommended in regard to the cost and the work performance. 4. Improvement of quality of nozzles tested in this research may be required not to be less than their CU 90% in the use as boom-type nozzle system.
Growing attention has been given to sterilizing and antibacterial effects of nano-silver, recently. Nano-silver solution can be applied to the heat exchanger in an air conditioner to prevent bad smell or bacteria. The present study is directed at the nozzle spray characteristics over a heat exchanger. This problem is of particular interest in the design of a nano-silver HVAC system. The effects of nozzle position and flow rate on the spray area over a horizontal surface have been investigated for various nozzles. The results obtained indicate that spray area is increased as the height of spray position is increased or mass flow rate is increased. The wetted area over a practical heat exchanger is also studied at a given nozzle height. It is found that the wetted area is gradually increased with an increase in the flow rate. However, the effect of flow rate on the wetted area is a little affected by flow rate in the range of too much flow rate. It is also found that the wetted area is decreased as the inclination angle of a heat exchanger is increased.
As the problem of shields made of lead has recently emerged, research on replacement shields is essential, and studies on the manufacture of diagnostic X-ray shields with 3D printers are also being actively conducted. Recently, with the development of metal mixed filaments, it has become possible to manufacture shielding materials easily, but studies on the nozzle size and output setting of 3D printers are insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to compare and analyze the results through a shielding rate experiment using a brass filament and a 3D printer, outputting the shield according to the nozzle size and layer height, and using a diagnostic radiation generator. The nozzle size was changed to 0.4, 0.8 mm, layer height 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 mm, and output. The shielding rate test was fixed at 40 mAs, and the shielding rate was analyzed by experimenting with 60, 80, and 100 kVp, respectively. As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that the printing time could be reduced to 1/10 according to the nozzle size and the layer height, and the shielding rate could be increased by 1% or more.
In the bench scale test unit consisting of four commercial filter elements, the traces of the transient pressure around the nozzle and overpressure in the filter cavity were measured to estimate the effect of nozzle on pulse cleaning. For the given pulse cleaning system, the convergent nozzle displayed better performance than the straight one. The optimum ratio of outlet to inside diameter of convergent nozzle was determined, which minimized the pulse gas consumption and maximized the entrainment effect. The angle and height of nozzle convergent part was also optimum operational condition, which is meaningful to the industrial applying.

Purpose: This study determines the spray characteristics and effective spray width of a tractor-mounted commercial boom sprayer through experiments. Methods: Performance tests were conducted to investigate the spray characteristics of the nozzles on a commercial boom sprayer. The flow rate and spray width of a single nozzle were measured at three levels of spray pressure (0.5, 0.7, and 1.0 MPa) and spray height (15, 30, and 45 cm), respectively. The average value of three repetition tests was used as the representative value. A coefficient of variation (CV) was used as an index of spray uniformity, and the width that guarantees CV values of approximately 15% was determined as the effective spray width. The spray characteristics of the overall boom sprayer were derived analytically by superimposing the spray characteristics of a single nozzle. Results: The test results for a single nozzle showed that the spray width tended to increase as the spray height and spray pressure increased. The effective spray width for a single nozzle was the largest at a spray pressure of 1.0 MPa and spray height of 45 cm, which resulted in a coverage of 84 cm of width. The effective spray width for the entire boom sprayer was also the largest at the spray pressure of 1.0 MPa and spray height of 45 cm, with a magnitude of 424.5 cm. The chemical spraying work in an actual field was simulated by applying a spray width of 400 cm. As a result of the operation for three swaths, the CV value was less than 10% for 1,200 cm of the overall spray width, which meant that uniform application was achieved. Conclusions: It was reasonable to set the effective spray width of the boom sprayer used in this study to 400 cm.
Commercial gas stoves feed primary air to the burner and burn the fuel-air mixture in a partially premixed combustion. This mechanism produces carbon monoxide during combustion. In this study, design parameters of a commercial gas stove were optimized by considering the carbon monoxide emission. Gas consumption rate, carbon monoxide emission, and water boiling temperature as a heating performance were determined. Carbon monoxide emission was measured using a Korean Industrial Standards standard collector. Water boiling temperature was measured by first soaking the pot in water for approximately 10 min and then heating the pot filled with water. A thermocouple was installed inside the pot. Carbon monoxide increased as the nozzle diameter was increased and the burner-pot height was decreased. This result was due to the insufficient mixing between the fuel and air. Heating performance was enhanced when the nozzle diameter was increased and the burner-pot height was decreased. However, the heating performance deteriorated when the nozzle diameter was 1.8 mm and the burner-pot height was reduced to 50 mm. This phenomenon was due to the formation of a flame on the side of the pot. A merit factor was defined to find the optimal design parameters to satisfy gas consumption rate, carbon monoxide emission, and heating performance. Optimal design values were established to be a nozzle diameter of 1.5 mm and a burner-pot height of 60 mm.

A visualization study of flow characteristics in a mixer using multi-nozzle bubbling was performed. The mixer is filed with liquid glycerin (dynamic viscosity = $1000mPa{\cdot}s\;at\;25^{\circ}C$) and convective mixing is induced by air bubbles generated from 9 orifices installed on the bottom of the mixer. To visualize the flow field, PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system consisting of 532nm Nd:YAG laser, $2k{\times}2k$ CCD camera and synchronizer is adopted. The bubbles generated with uniform size and frequency form bubble stream and bubble streams rise vertically without interaction between bubble streams. Mixing efficiency is affected by the height of bubbler and the effective height of bubbler is 20nm from the bottom of the mixer.
