미시역학을 이용한 사질토의 이방적 탄성 변형 특성의 해석 (Micromechanical Analysis on Anisotropic Elastic Deformation of Granular Soils)

  • 흙의 이방적 변형 특성은 파괴 이전 상태의 변형 거동을 정확히 이해하기 위한 중요한 특성 중 하나이다. 최근 활발히 이루어지고 있는 실험적 연구 결과는 사질토fl서 나타나는 이방적 탄성계수가 직교 이방 탄성이론으로 표현될 수 있으며, 또한 각 방향의 수직 탄성계수가 해당 방향의 수직 응력에 의한 지수 함수로 표현될 수 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 사질토의 탄성계수 이방성은 입자의 미시역학적 특성과 밀접한 관계가 있다. 사질토는 수많은 입자에 의해 구성된 입상체이므로 각 입자간의 접촉면에서 나타나는 힘-변위 관계가 거시적 인 입상체의 응력-변형률 관계를 지배한다. 따라서 사질토의 변형을 입자 간 상호 작용으로 해석하는 미시역학적 접근 방법은 흙의 이방적 변형 특성을 연구하는 가장 좋은 방법 중 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 미시 역학 이론을 토대로 흙의 이방적 탄성 변형 특성을 예측하는 수치해석 프로그램을 개발하였다. 실제 토립자의 불규칙한 접촉면 상태를 간략하게 모사할 수 있는 접촉 모델을 제시하였다. 삼축 시험 등의 일반적인 역학 시험으로부터 얻을 수 있는 거시적 탄성 응력-변형률 관계로부터, 미시역학 모델에 필요한 변수를 결정할 수 있는 해석해를 유도하였다 실내 시험을 통해 구할 수 있는 거시적 탄성계수와 해석해를 이용하여 모델 변수를 구하는 방법을 구체적으로 제시하였다.

뇌 확산텐서 자기공명영상을 이용한 청소년 인터넷 중독자의 백질 섬유로에 관한 연구 (A Study of Whiter Matter Fiber Tractography in Young Internet Addiction Disorder using a Brain Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

  • 3.0 T 자기공명영상기기에서 확산텐서영상을 이용하여 청소년을 대상으로 정상인과 인터넷 중독자의 뇌량과 내섬유막 구조의 변화에 대하여 정량적으로 알아보고자 하였다. 10명의 인터넷 중독자와 정상인 12명을 대상으로 검사를 하였고, 정량적 분석을 위하여 뇌량의 5부위와 내섬유막의 2부위를 View Forum 프로그램을 이용하여 두 그룹에 대한 신경섬유의 손상 정도를 FA, ADC($10^{-3}mm^2/s$), Length(mm)값으로 측정하였다. 그룹 간 통계적 유의성은 Independent t-test와 pearson 상관관계로 하였다(p<0.05). 정상인과 인터넷 중 독자에 관하여 신경섬유 손상정도는 7부위에 대하여 FA, ADC($10^{-3}mm^2/s$), Length(mm)값에 대하여 의미 있는 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 또한 두 그룹에서 IAD scale 과 뇌량의 FA값은 음의 적으로 강하게 상관관계가 있었다(p<0.000). 결론적으로, 확산텐서영상은 FA, ADC($10^{-3}mm^2/s$), Length(mm)값에 대하여 유의성 있는 차이를 보여고, 이 결과는 뇌 백질에 대한 손상정도에 관하여 정량적으로 임상적 정보를 제공하였다.

Software development for the visualization of brain fiber tract by using 24-bit color coding in diffusion tensor image

  • Purpose: The purpose of paper is to implement software to visualize brain fiber tract using a 24-bit color coding scheme and to test its feasibility. Materials and Methods: MR imaging was performed on GE 1.5 T Signa scanner. For diffusion tensor image, we used a single shot spin-echo EPI sequence with 7 non-colinear pulsed-field gradient directions: (x, y, z):(1,1,0),(-1,1,0),(1,0,1),(-1,0,1),(0,1,1),(0,1,-1) and without diffusion gradient. B-factor was 500 sec/$\textrm{mm}^2$. Acquisition parameters are as follows: TUTE=10000ms/99ms, FOV=240mm, matrix=128${\times}$128, slice thickness/gap=6mm/0mm, total slice number=30. Subjects consisted of 10 normal young volunteers (age:21∼26 yrs, 5 men, 5 women). All DTI images were smoothed with Gaussian kernel with the FWHM of 2 pixels. Color coding schemes for visualization of directional information was as follows. HSV(Hue, Saturation, Value) color system is appropriate for assigning RGB(Red, Green, and Blue) value for every different directions because of its volumetric directional expression. Each of HSV are assigned due to (r,$\theta$,${\Phi}$) in spherical coordinate. HSV calculated by this way can be transformed into RGB color system by general HSV to RGB conversion formula. Symmetry schemes: It is natural to code the antipodal direction to be same color(antipodal symmetry). So even with no symmetry scheme, the antipodal symmetry must be included. With no symmetry scheme, we can assign every different colors for every different orientation.(H =${\Phi}$, S=2$\theta$/$\pi$, V=λw, where λw is anisotropy). But that may assign very discontinuous color even between adjacent yokels. On the other hand, Full symmetry or absolute value scheme includes symmetry for 180$^{\circ}$ rotation about xy-plane of color coordinate (rotational symmetry) and for both hemisphere (mirror symmetry). In absolute value scheme, each of RGB value can be expressed as follows. R=λw|Vx|, G=λw|Vy|, B=λw|Vz|, where (Vx, Vy, Vz) is eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of diffusion tensor. With applying full symmetry or absolute value scheme, we can get more continuous color coding at the expense of coding same color for symmetric direction. For better visualization of fiber tract directions, Gamma and brightness correction had done. All of these implementations were done on the IDL 5.4 platform.

신규 유사세라마이드의 합성과 그 특성 (Synthesis of Novel Pseudo-ceramide and Its Properties)

  • 세라마이드는 콜레스테롤, 지방산과 함께 각질층을 구성하는 주요성분으로 각질층의 피부장벽 기능에 중요한 역할을 하며, 아토피 피부염, 건선, 건성습진, 주부습진 등과 같은 염증성 피부질환 방지에 도움이 되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서 2-(2-amino-ethylamino)-ethanol(AEEA)을 출발물질로 하여 신규 유사세라마이드 BPC-16을 합성하고, 그 물리화학적 성질과 화장품의 신규 소재로 활용하기 위하여 세포독성, 보습, 각질제거효능 등을 평가하였다. 합성된 BPC-16을 이용하여 콜레스테롤, 스테아린산을 포함하는 에멀젼을 제조했고, 편광현미경에서 'Maltese Cross'를 확인함으로써 BPC-1이 라멜라 에멀젼을 형성함을 확인하였다. 단층배양세포와 삼차원배양세포에서의 세포독성 실험에서 BPC-16은 보습과 피부손상회복 효과를 보이는 10 mM 이하의 농도에서 독성이 없음을 확인하였다. BPC-16의 보습효능을 확인하기 위하여 Vapormeter와 Corneometer를 이용하여 임상실험을 실시하였으며, 우수한 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 피부손상에 대한 회복효과와 Visioscan을 이용한 각질량의 변화 실험에서도 우수한 효과를 확인하였다.

Fabrication of Large Area Transmission Electro-Absorption Modulator with High Uniformity Backside Etching

  • Surface-normal transmission electro-absorption modulator (EAM) are attractive for high-definition (HD) three-dimensional (3D) imaging application due to its features such as small system volume and simple epitaxial structure [1,2]. However, EAM in order to be used for HD 3D imaging system requires uniform modulation performance over large area. To achieve highly uniform modulation performance of EAM at the operating wavelength of 850 nm, it is extremely important to remove the GaAs substrate over large area since GaAs material has high absorption coefficient below 870 nm which corresponds to band-edge energy of GaAs (1.424 eV). In this study, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a transmission EAM in which highly selective backside etching methods which include lapping, dry etching and wet etching is carried out to remove the GaAs substrate for achieving highly uniform modulation performance. First, lapping process on GaAs substrate was carried out for different lapping speeds (5 rpm, 7 rpm, 10 rpm) and the thickness was measured over different areas of surface. For a lapping speed of 5 rpm, a highly uniform surface over a large area ($2{\times}1\;mm^2$) was obtained. Second, optimization of inductive coupled plasma-reactive ion etching (ICP-RIE) was carried out to achieve anisotropy and high etch rate. The dry etching carried out using a gas mixture of SiCl4 and Ar, each having a flow rate of 10 sccm and 40 sccm, respectively with an RF power of 50 W, ICP power of 400 W and chamber pressure of 2 mTorr was the optimum etching condition. Last, the rest of GaAs substrate was successfully removed by highly selective backside wet etching with pH adjusted solution of citric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Citric acid/hydrogen peroxide etching solution having a volume ratio of 5:1 was the best etching condition which provides not only high selectivity of 235:1 between GaAs and AlAs but also good etching profile [3]. The fabricated transmission EAM array have an amplitude modulation of more than 50% at the bias voltage of -9 V and maintains high uniformity of >90% over large area ($2{\times}1\;mm^2$). These results show that the fabricated transmission EAM with substrate removed is an excellent candidate to be used as an optical shutter for HD 3D imaging application.

Diffusion Tensor Imaging of the Lateral Pterygoid Muscle in Patients with Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Healthy Volunteers

  • Objective: This study aimed to explore the feasibility of functional evaluation of the lateral pterygoid muscle (LPM) using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs). Materials and Methods: A total of 119 patients with TMD (23 male and 96 female; mean age ± standard deviation, 41 ± 15 years; 58 bilateral and 61 unilateral involvements for a total of 177 joints) and 20 healthy volunteers (9 male and 11 female; 40 ± 13 years; 40 joints) were included in this prospective study. Based on DTI of the jaw in the resting state, the diffusion parameters, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), fractional anisotropy (FA), λ1, λ2, and λ3 of the superior and inferior heads of the LPM (SHLPM and IHLPM) were measured. Patients with TMD with normal disc position (ND), anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADWR), and anterior disc displacement without reduction (ADWOR) were compared. Results: Patients with TMD overall, and ADWR and ADWOR subgroups had significantly higher ADC, λ1, λ2, and λ3 in both the SHLPM and IHLPM than those in volunteers (p < 0.05 for all), whereas the ND subgroup only had significantly higher ADC and λ1 (p < 0.001). Meanwhile, significant differences in FA in the SHLPM and IHLPM were found between volunteers and ADWOR (p = 0.014 and p = 0.037, respectively). Among the three TMD subgroups, except for λ3 and FA in the ADWR subgroup, ADWR and ADWOR subgroups had significantly higher ADC, λ1, λ2, and λ3 and lower FA than those in the ND group (p < 0.050). There was no significant difference in diffusion variables between ADWR and ADWOR. In ADWOR, the osteoarthritis group had significantly higher λ3 and lower FA values in the IHLPM than those in the non-osteoarthritis group. Conclusion: DTI successfully detected functional changes in the LPM in patients with TMD. The unsynchronized diffusivity changes in the LPM in different subgroups of TMD signified the possibility of using diffusion parameters as indicators to identify the severity of LPM hyperfunction at various stages of TMD.
