In the present research, for the first time, the vibrational as well as buckling characteristics of a three-layered curved nanobeam including a core made of functionally graded (FG) material and two layers of smart material-piezo-magneto-electric-resting on a Winkler Pasternak elastic foundation are examined. The displacement field for the nanobeam is chosen via Timoshenko beam theory. Also, the size dependency is taken into account by using nonlocal strain gradient theory, aka NSGT. Then, by employing Hamilton's principle, energy procedure, the governing equations together with the boundary conditions are achieved. The solution procedure is a numerical solution called generalized differential quadrature method, or GDQM. The accuracy and reliability of the formulation alongside solution method is examined by using other published articles. Lastly, the parameter which can alter and affect the buckling or vocational behavior of the curved nanobeam is investigated in details.
This study is aimed to investigate the electrically conductive properties of epoxy nanocomposites exposed to an acidic environment under various mechanical loads. For simultaneous assessment of the acidic environment and mechanical load on the electrical conductivity of the samples, the samples with and without carbon nanotubes were exposed to the acidic environment under three different loading conditions for 20 days. Then, the aged samples' strength and flexural stiffness degradation under crude oil and bending stress were measured using a three-point flexural test. The aged samples in the acidic environment and under 80 percent of their intact ultimate strength revealed a 9% and 26% reduction of their electrical conductivity for samples with and without CNTs, respectively. The presence of nanoparticles declined flexural stiffness by about 16.39%. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of the specimen were used to evaluate the dispersion quality of CNTs. The results of this study can be exploited in constructing conductive composite electrodes to be used in petroleum environments such as crude oil electrostatic tanks.
The present research study emphasizes the utilization of mathematical simulation on a nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) sensor to facilitate the detection of injuries in players and equipment. Specifically, an investigation is conducted on the thermal buckling behavior of a small-scale truncated conical, cylindrical beam, which is fabricated using porous functionally graded (FG) material. The beam exhibits non-uniform characteristics in terms of porosity, thickness, and material distribution along both radial and axial directions. To assess the thermal buckling performance under various environmental heat conditions, classical and first-order nonlocal beam theories are employed. The governing equations for thermal stability are derived through the application of the energy technique and subsequently numerically solved using the extended differential quadratic technique (GDQM). The obtained results are comprehensively analyzed, taking into account the diverse range of effective parameters employed in this meticulous study.
Classical and first-order nonlocal beam theory are employed in this study to assess the thermal buckling performance of a small-scale conical, cylindrical beam. The beam is constructed from functionally graded (FG) porosity-dependent material and operates under the thermal conditions of the environment. Imperfections within the non-uniform beam vary along both the radius and length direction, with continuous changes in thickness throughout its length. The resulting structure is functionally graded in both radial and axial directions, forming a bi-directional configuration. Utilizing the energy method, governing equations are derived to analyze the thermal stability and buckling characteristics of a nanobeam across different beam theories. Subsequently, the extracted partial differential equations (PDE) are numerically solved using the generalized differential quadratic method (GDQM), providing a comprehensive exploration of the thermal behavior of the system. The detailed discussion of the produced results is based on various applied effective parameters, with a focus on the potential application of nanotubes in enhancing sports bikes performance.
Numerous methods have been proposed in predicting formability of sheet metals based on microstructural and macro-scale properties of sheets. However, there are limited number of papers on the optimization problem to increase formability of sheet metals. In the present study, we aim to use novel optimization algorithms in neural networks to maximize the formability of sheet metals based on tensile curve and texture of aluminum sheet metals. In this regard, experimental and numerical evaluations of effects of texture and tensile properties are conducted. The texture effects evaluation is performed using Taylor homogenization method. The data obtained from these evaluations are gathered and utilized to train and validate an artificial neural network (ANN) with different optimization methods. Several optimization method including grey wolf algorithm (GWA), chimp optimization algorithm (ChOA) and whale optimization algorithm (WOA) are engaged in the optimization problems. The results demonstrated that in aluminum alloys the most preferable texture is cube texture for the most formable sheets. On the other hand, slight differences in the tensile behavior of the aluminum sheets in other similar conditions impose no significant decreases in the forming limit diagram under stretch loading conditions.
Organic solar cells utilized natural polymers to convert solar energy to electricity. The demands for green energy production and less disposal of toxic materials make them one of the interesting candidates for replacing conventional solar cells. However, the different aspects of their properties including mechanical strength and stability are not well recognized. Therefore, in the present study, we aim to explore the chaotic responses of these organic solar cells. In doing so, a specific type of organic solar cell constructed from layers of material with different thicknesses is considered to obtain vibrational and chaotic responses under different boundaries and initial conditions. A square plate structure is examined with first-order shear deformation theory to acquire the displacement field in the laminated structure. The bounding between different layers is considered to be perfect with no sliding and separation. On the other hand, nonlocal elasticity theory is engaged in incorporating the structural effects of the organic material into calculations. Hamilton's principle is adopted to obtain governing equations with regard to boundary conditions and mechanical loadings. The extracted equations of motion were solved using the perturbation method and differential quadrature approach. The results demonstrated the significant effect of relative glass layer thickness on the chaotic behavior of the structure with higher relative thickness leading to less chaotic responses. Moreover, a comprehensive parameter study is presented to examine the effects of nonlocality and relative thicknesses on the natural frequency of square organic solar cell structure.

In this paper, beam finite elements with higher-order derivatives' continuity are formulated and evaluated for various boundary conditions. All the beam elements are based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. These higher-order beam elements are often required to analyze structures by using newly developed higher-order beam theories and/or non-classical beam theories based on nonlocal elasticity. It is however rare to assess the performance of such elements in terms of boundary and loading conditions. To this end, two higher-order beam elements are formulated, in which $C^2$ and $C^3$ continuities of the deflection are enforced, respectively. Three different boundary conditions are then applied to solve beam structures, such as cantilever, simply-support and clamped-hinge conditions. In addition to conventional Euler-Bernoulli beam boundary conditions, the effect of higher-order boundary conditions is investigated. Depending on the boundary conditions, the oscillatory behavior of deflections is observed. Especially the geometric boundary conditions are problematic, which trigger unstable solutions when higher-order deflections are prescribed. It is expected that the results obtained herein serve as a guideline for higher-order derivatives' continuous finite elements.

For the first time, the influence of in-plane magnetic field on wave propagation of Graphene Nano-Platelets (GNPs) polymer composite nanoplates is investigated here. The impact of three- parameter Kerr foundation is also considered. There are two different reinforcement distribution patterns (i.e. uniformly and non-uniformly) while the material properties of the nanoplate are estimated through the Halpin-Tsai model and a rule of mixture. To consider the size-dependent behavior of the structure, Eringen Nonlocal Differential Model (ENDM) is utilized. The equations of wave motion derived based on a higher-order shear deformation refined theory through Hamilton's principle and an analytical technique depending on Taylor series utilized to find the wave frequency as well as phase velocity of the GNPs reinforced nanoplates. A parametric investigation is performed to determine the influence of essential phenomena, such as the nonlocality, GNPs conditions, Kerr foundation parameters, and wave number on the both longitudinal and flexural wave characteristics of GNPs reinforced nanoplates.
We consider a mathematical model which describes the quasistatic frictional contact between a piezoelectric body and an electrically conductive obstacle, the so-called foundation. A nonlinear electro-viscoelastic constitutive law is used to model the piezoelectric material. Contact is described with Signorini's conditions and a version of Coulomb's law of dry friction in which the adhesion of contact surfaces is taken into account. The evolution of the bonding field is described by a first order differential equation. We derive a variational formulation for the model, in the form of a system for the displacements, the electric potential and the adhesion. Under a smallness assumption which involves only the electrical data of the problem, we prove the existence of a unique weak solution of the model. The proof is based on arguments of time-dependent quasi-variational inequalities, differential equations and Banach's fixed point theorem.

Static and dynamic instability of a viscoelastic carbon nanotube (CNT) embedded on a thermo-elastic foundation are investigated, in this research. The CNT is modeled based on Euler-Bernoulli beam (EBB) and nonlocal small scale elasticity theory is utilized to analyze the structure. Governing equations of the system are derived using Hamilton's principle and differential quadrature (DQ) method is applied to solve the partial differential equations. The effects of variable axial load and diverse boundary conditions on static/vibration instability are studied. To verify the result of the DQ method, the Galerkin weighted residual approach is used for the instability analysis. It is observed appropriate agreement for results of two different solution methods and satisfactory accuracy with those obtained in prior studies. The results of this work could be useful for engineers and designers in order to produce and design nano/micro structures in thermo-elastic medium.
