NONLINEAR CONTROL FOR CORE POWER OF PRESSURIZED WATER NUCLEAR REACTORS USING CONSTANT AXIAL OFFSET STRATEGY

  • One of the most important operations in nuclear power plants is load following, in which an imbalance of axial power distribution induces xenon oscillations. These oscillations must be maintained within acceptable limits otherwise the nuclear power plant could become unstable. Therefore, bounded xenon oscillation is considered to be a constraint for the load following operation. In this paper, the design of a sliding mode control (SMC), which is a robust nonlinear controller, is presented.SMCis ameansto control pressurized water nuclear reactor (PWR) power for the load following operation problem in a way that ensures xenon oscillations are kept bounded within acceptable limits. The proposed controller uses constant axial offset (AO) strategy to ensure xenon oscillations remain bounded. The constant AO is a robust state constraint for the load following problem. The reactor core is simulated based on the two-point nuclear reactor model with a three delayed neutron groups. The stability analysis is given by means of the Lyapunov approach, thus the control system is guaranteed to be stable within a large range. The employed method is easy to implement in practical applications and moreover, the SMC exhibits the desired dynamic properties during the entire output-tracking process independent of perturbations. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller in terms of performance, robustness, and stability. Results show that the proposed controller for the load following operation is so effective that the xenon oscillations are kept bounded in the given region.

터널 내 폭발에 의한 지표 변위에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Analysis of Surface Displacement Due to Explosion in Tunnel)

  • 지하공간의 이용범위 확장 및 활용이 증가함에 따라 테러리스트들에 의한 지하 내부 폭발의 발생 가능성이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 심도 50m의 심도에 굴착된 원형 터널을 모델링한 후, 터널의 내부에 폭발하중을 가하였다. 폭발하중은 ATF(Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms)에서 제시하는 6종류의 운반용 차량에 대한 최대 폭약량의 폭발하중을 산정하였다. 원형 터널 주변 지반은 국내 터널 설계에서 제시하는 지보패턴에 따른 3종류의 암반등급을 선정하였다. 비선형 동적해석을 수행하여 폭발하중과 지반 특성을 매개변수로 지표 변위를 분석하여 지상 구조물의 영향에 대해 평가하였다. 해석결과, 1등급암에 대해서는 지반의 융기에 대한 영향을 고려해야 하며, 2등급암과 3등급암은 부등침하에 대한 영향을 고려해야 한다. 특히, 3등급암은 40m 이내의 지상 구조물에 대해서는 정밀 분석이 요구된다. 또한 지표 변위는 탄성계수에 의한 영향이 주요인인 것으로 판단된다.

고정지점을 갖는 낮은 포물선 아치의 면내 좌굴거동 (In-Plane Buckling Behavior of Fixed Shallow Parabolic Arches)

  • 본 논문은 고정지점을 갖는 낮은 아치의 면내 안정성에 관하여 연구를 수행하였다. 연구에 사용된 아치의 형상은 포물선 형태이며, 하중은 등분포 하중이다. 일반 아치의 비선형 지배 미분 방정식을 이용하여 고정지점을 갖는 낮은 아치의 증분 형태 하중-변위 관계와 좌굴 하중을 유도하였다. 연구 결과, 아치의 좌굴형상(대칭 혹은 비대칭 좌굴)은 아치의 라이즈비와 세장비의 함수로 이루어진 무차원 라이즈 H 와 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 밖에 본 연구에서는 고정지점을 갖는 낮은 아치의 좌굴 형상을 구분하는 경계와 좌굴하중을 제안하였다. 이러한 제안식은 일련의 유한요소해석 결과들과 비교하였으며, 본 연구의 제안식은 고정지점을 갖는 낮은 아치의 좌굴 하중을 적절히 예측할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

Prediction of chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete under flexural cyclic load

  • This paper presented the model to predict the chloride diffusion coefficient in tension zone of plain concrete under flexural cyclic load. The fictitious crack based analytical model was used together with the stress degradation law in cracked zone to predict crack growth of plain concrete beams under flexural cyclic load. Then, under cyclic load, the chloride diffusion, in the steady state and one dimensional regime, through the tension zone of the plain concrete beam, in which microcracks were formed by a large number of cycles, was simulated with assumptions of continuously straight crack and uniform-size crack. The numerical analysis in terms of the chloride diffusion coefficient, $D_{tot}$, normalized $D_{tot}$, crack width and crack length was issued as a function of the load cycle, N, and load level, SR. The nonlinear model as regarding with the chloride diffusion coefficient in tension zone and the load level was proposed. According to this model, the chloride diffusion increases with increasing load level. The predictions using model fit well with experimental data when we adopted suitable crack density and tortuosity parameter.

특수일 최대 전력 수요 예측을 위한 결정계수를 사용한 데이터 마이닝 (Data Mining Technique Using the Coefficient of Determination in Holiday Load Forecasting)

  • Short-term load forecasting (STLF) is an important task in power system planning and operation. Its accuracy affects the reliability and economic operation of power systems. STLF is to be classified into load forecasting for weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Due to the limited historical data available, it is more difficult to accurately forecast load for holidays than to forecast load for weekdays and weekends. It has been recognized that the forecasting errors for holidays are large compared with those for weekdays in Korea. This paper presents a polynomial regression with data mining technique to forecast load for holidays. In statistics, a polynomial is widely used in situations where the response is curvilinear, because even complex nonlinear relationships can be adequately modeled by polynomials over a reasonably small range of the dependent variables. In the paper, the coefficient of determination is proposed as a selection criterion for screening weekday data used in holiday load forecasting. A numerical example is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed holiday load forecasting method.

Damage assessment of reinforced concrete beams including the load environment

  • Quantitative condition assessment of structures has been traditionally using proof load test leading to an indication of the load-carrying capacity. Alternative approaches using ultrasonic, dynamics etc. are based on the unloaded state of the structure and anomalies may not be fully mobilized in the load resisting path and thus their effects are not fully included in the measured responses. This paper studies the effect of the load carried by a reinforced concrete beam on the assessment result of the crack damage. This assessment can only be performed with an approach based on static measurement. The crack damage is modelled as a crack zone over an area of high tensile stress of the member, and it is represented by a damage function for the simulation study. An existing nonlinear optimization algorithm is adopted. The identified damage extent from a selected high level load and a low load level are compared, and it is concluded that accurate assessment can only be obtained at a load level close to the one that creates the damage.

  • 부하특성의 모델링은 부하의 비선형특성 때문에 어려운 문제이다. 이 연구는 부하특성을 표현하기 위하여 비선형 문제를 근사화 할 수 있는 신경회로망을 이용하였다. 대표적인 개별부하를 선정하고 전압과 주파수 변화에 대한 유효, 무효전력의 응답을 실험을 통해 얻었다. 그리고 개별부하특성을 식별하기 위하여 실험자료를 근거로 신경회로망을 구축하고 학습하였다. 학습된 신결회로망은 또다른 전압, 주파수 변화에 대한 개별부하의 특성을 식별하였다. 아울러 제안된 방법의 타당성을 입증하기 위하여 식별된 결과를 제시하였다.

  • In terms of distribution planning, accurate electric load prediction is one of the most important factors. The future load prediction has manually been performed by calculating the maximum electric load considering loads transfer/switching and multiplying it with the load increase rate. In here, the risk of human error is inherent and thus an automated maximum electric load forecasting system is required. Although there are many existing methods and techniques to predict future electric loads, such as regression analysis, many of them have limitations in reflecting the nonlinear characteristics of the electric load and the complexity due to Photovoltaics (PVs), Electric Vehicles (EVs), and etc. This study, therefore, proposes a method of predicting future electric loads on distribution lines by using Machine Learning (ML) method that can reflect the characteristics of these nonlinearities. In addition, predictive models were developed based on actual data collected at KEPCO's existing distribution lines and the adequacy of developed models was verified as well. Also, as the distribution planning has a direct bearing on the investment, and amount of investment has a direct bearing on the maximum electric load, various baseline such as maximum, lowest, median value that can assesses the adequacy and accuracy of proposed ML based electric load prediction methods were suggested.

동하중 등가 설계압을 받는 고속 경구조선 알루미늄 보강판부재의 구조응답 고찰 (Consideration of the Structural Response of High Speed Aluminum Planning Boat Stiffened Plate Member subjected to the Simplified Equivalent Dynamic Design Pressure)

  • High speed planning boats also have been required more and more the rational strength analysis and evaluation for the optimal structural design in respect of the structural lightness according to the high speed trend. Even though the suggestion of the simple type equation for the equivalent dynamic pressure is reasonable to design the scantling of ship structure conveniently, many research activities for more reasonable improvement of the simple design pressure, have been continued to suggest the more accurate equivalent static description of tire structural response such as the deflection and stress of hull structure. In this research, we focus on the aluminum bottom stiffened plate structure in which structural scantling is mainly depend on the local loads such as dynamic or impact pressure without other load effects and structural response for the simple dynamic equivalent pressure was investigated through the structural analysis. In order to investigate the structural response of the bottom stiffened plate structure subjected to the dynamic equivalent design pressure, linear and nonlinear structural analysis of the bottom stiffened plate structure of 4.3 ton aluminum planning boat was performed based on the equivalent static applied loads which were derived from the KR regulation and representative one among various dynamic equivalent pressure equations. From above analysis results, we found that the response such as deflection and stress of plate member was similar with the response results of one plate member model with fixed boundary, which was published previous paper and in case of KR design loading, all response of stiffened plate structure were within elastic limit. Through the nonlinear analysis, nearly elastic behavior including the slight geometrical nonlinear response was dominant but plastic local zone was appeared at $85\%$ limit load. Therefore, we can say that through tire linear and nonlinear analysis, this stiffened plate member has no structural strength problem based on the yield criteria in case within $60\%$ limit load except the other strength point of view such as the fatigue and buckling problem.

완성계 강사장교의 극한 거동의 해석적 연구 (Analytical Study of Ultimate Behavior of Steel Cable-stayed Bridges)

  • 본 논문은 비선형 해석을 통한 완성계 강사장교의 극한 거동에 대해 다룬다. 사장교는 재료적 비선형성과 함께 다양한 기하학적 비선형성을 나타내므로 극한 거동을 명확히 규명하려면 반드시 합리적인 비선형해석이 수행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 합리적인 극한 해석기법을 통해 활하중에 대한 강사장교의 주요한 극한거동을 규명하고자 하였다. 강사장교의 비선형 해석을 위하여 비선형 트러스 요소 및 비선형 프레임 요소를 이용하였고, 강재의 재료적 비선형성을 효율적으로 고려하기 위해 개선소성힌지법을 이용하였다. 활하중에 대한 극한 거동을 합리적으로 분석하기 위해 본 연구에서는 초기형상해석-활하중 해석으로 이어지는 2단계 해석기법을 통해 극한 해석을 수행하였다. 해석 모델은 총 지간장이 920.0 m 사장교를 이용하였고, 방사형 및 팬 형 사장교를 해석에 이용하였다. 극한해석결과를 통해 얻은 하중-변위 곡선, 구조물 변형형상, 소성단면, 휨모멘트분포도 등을 분석하여 활하중에 대한 완성계 사장교의 주요한 극한 거동을 규명하였다.
