In this work, an insulated coupling test machine for a 5-MW-class wind turbine was designed and developed, along with the public performance testing of a 3-MW-class wind turbine. The results of the device design, development requirements, functional considerations, structural vibration analysis, and the evaluation of the insulated coupling test machine are presented in this study. For the coupling models, thick fiberglass composite pipe insulation, fabricated by filament winding, was considered. Results of three-dimensional finite element analysis conducted using both solid element and shell element modeling were analyzed and compared, considering the effect of thickness. In addition, results from the nonlinear finite element analysis of multiple leaf springs of the laminated disk pack structure were verified and compared with experimental data.

Memristor is a new kind of memory device whose resistance varies depending upon applied charge and whose previous resistance state is preserved even when its power is off. Ordinary memristor has a nonlinear programming characteristics about time when a constant voltage is applied. For the easiness of programming, it is desirable that resistance is programmed linearly about time. We had proposed previously a memristor bridge configuration with which weight can be programmed nicely in positive, negative or zero. In memristor bridge circuit, two memristors are connected in series with different polarity. Memristors are complementary each other and it follows that the memristance variation is linear with respect to time. In this paper, the linearization effect of weight programming of memristor bridge synapse is investigated and verified about both $TiO_2$ memristor from HP and a nonlinear memristor with a window function. Memristor bridge circuit would be helpful to conduct synaptic weight programming.
In this paper, we propose a noise whitening decision feedback equalizer for single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) receivers. SC-FDMA has the same advantage as that of orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) in which the multipath effect can be removed easily, and also solves the problem of high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) which is the main drawback of OFDMA. Although SC-FDMA is a single carrier transmission scheme, a simple frequency domain linear equalizer (FD-LE) can be implemented as in OFDMA, which can dramatically reduce the equalizer complexity. Moreover, some residual intersymbol interference in the output of the FD-LE can be further removed by an additional nonlinear decision feedback equalizer (DFE) in time domain, because the time domain signal is a digitally modulated symbol. In the conventional DFE, however, the noise is not white at the input of the decision device and correspondingly the decision is not optimum. In this paper, we propose an improved DFE scheme for SC-FDMA systems where a linear noise whitening filter is inserted before the decision device of the conventional DFE scheme. Through computer simulations, we compare the bit error rate performance of the proposed DFE scheme with the conventional equalizers.

AlSb is a promising material for optical devices, particularly for high-frequency and nonlinear-optical applications. And AlSb offers significant potential for devices such as quantum-well lasers, laser diodes, and heterojunction bipolar transistors. In this work we study molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth of an unstrained AISb film on a GaAs substrate and identify the real-time monitoring capabilities of in situ spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE). The samples were fabricated on semi-insulating (0 0 1) GaAs substrates using MBE system. A rotating sample stage ensured uniform film growth. The substrate was first heated to $620^{\circ}C$ under As2 to remove surface oxides. A GaAs buffer layer approximately 200 nm- thick was then grown at $580^{\circ}C$. During the temperature changing process from $580^{\circ}C$ to $530^{\circ}C$, As2 flux is maintained with the shutter for Ga being closed and the reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED) pattern remaining at ($2{\times}4$). Upon reaching the preset temperature of $530^{\circ}C$, As shutter was promptly closed with Sb shutter open, resulting in the change of RHEED pattern from ($2{\times}4$) to ($1{\times}3$). This was followed by the growth of AlSb while using a rotating-compensator SE with a charge-coupled-device (CCD) detector to obtain real-time SE spectra from 0.74 to 6.48 eV. Fig. 1 shows the real time measured SE spectra of AlSb on GaAs in growth process. In the Fig. 1 (a), a change of ellipsometric parameter ${\Delta}$ is observed. The ${\Delta}$ is the parameter which contains thickness information of the sample, and it changes in a periodic from 0 to 180o with growth. The significant change of ${\Delta}$ at~0.4 min means that the growth of AlSb on GaAs has been started. Fig. 1b shows the changes of dielectric function with time over the range 0.74~6.48 eV. These changes mean phase transition from pseudodielectric function of GaAs to AlSb at~0.44 min. Fig. 2 shows the observed RHEED patterns in the growth process. The observed RHEED pattern of GaAs is ($2{\times}4$), and the pattern changes into ($1{\times}3$) with starting the growth of AlSb. This means that the RHEED pattern is in agreement with the result of SE measurements. These data show the importance and sensitivity of SE for real-time monitoring for materials growth by MBE. We performed the real-time monitoring of AlSb growth by using SE measurements, and it is good agreement with the results of RHEED pattern. This fact proves the importance and the sensitivity of SE technique for the real-time monitoring of film growth by using ellipsometry. We believe that these results will be useful in a number of contexts including more accurate optical properties for high speed device engineering.
The purpose of the study was to verify deduction of each coefficient necessary to analysis on micro-pressure waves and reliability of the analysis result. The tunnel running train model testing device used in the test was manufactured by scale of 1:60 and the study used a train model with ten cars long according to specifications of KTX model. The study applied tunnels with cross sections of $107.9m^3\;and\;95.1m^3$ and applied tunnel extensions with 1km, 0.75km and 0.5km. Also, the study tested train speed by changing it into 275, 300, 325 and 350km/h. The test device was a hydraulic launch system composed of a train model, a hydraulic launcher, a tunnel model and a brake. The study measured speed of a model trainby a speed sensor installed in the point of each 1.2m from the front of tunnel entrance and a pithead of tunnel exit and measured pressure change of internal tunnel continuously by installing pressure sensors in the entrance part of tunnel, in the middle part of tunnel and in the exit part of tunnel. As the result of the measurement, it was known that pressure slope of pressure wave happened in the entrance part of tunnel was increased by a nonlinear effect while spreading the tunnel or its pressure slope was reduced by diffusion. Also, the study compared and analyzed micro-pressure waves happened in the exit part of the tunnel by installing each kind of hoods in the entrance part of the tunnel to prevent reduction of micro-pressure waves.

The VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) with low phase noise and high reliability is implemented using nonlinear design, and its phase noise characteristics are compared with that of Lesson's equation. The microstripline coupled with dielectric resonator is realized as a high impedance inverter to improve the phase noise, and the qualify factor of resonator circuit can be transferred to active device with the enhanced the loaded quality factor. The worst case and part stress analyses are achieved to obtain the high reliability of VCO. The developed VCO has the oscillating tuning factor of 0.56MHz/V for the control voltage range of 0$\~$12V This VCO requires the DC power of 160mW. The phase noise characteristics exhibit good performances of -96.51dBc/Hz @ 10KHz and -116.3dBc/Hz @ 100KHz, respectively. And, the output power of 7.33 dBm is measured.

This paper presents a convenient method to estimate the internal parameters of plenoptic camera using CCD(charge-coupled device) camera model. The images used for plenoptic camera calibration generally use the checkerboard pattern used in CCD camera calibration. Based on the CCD camera model, the determinant of the plenoptic camera model can be derived through the relationship with the plenoptic camera model. We formulate four equations that express the focal length, the principal point, the baseline, and distance between the virtual camera and the object. By performing a nonlinear optimization technique, we solve the equations to estimate the parameters. We compare the estimation results with the actual parameters and evaluate the reprojection error. Experimental results show that the MSE(mean square error) is 0.309 and estimation values are very close to actual values.
The nonlinearity of hemodynamic response in the somatosensory cortex was investigated with vibrotactile stimulation. The stimuli consisted of a train of 25 Hz, each tasting five different duration periods, 2 s, 4 s, 8 s 12 s, or 16 s with 20 sec periods of no vibration in a pseudo-random order. In order to understand the linearity on the change of stimulus duration for somatosensory cortex, two different tests- checking the linearity of system and finding the impulse response function from gamma-variate function were applied to analyze the hemodynamic response functions. They have produced nearly same results. The BOLD response in the somatosensory cortex Is nonlinear for stimuli of less than 8 seconds, but nearly linear for stimuli greater than 8 seconds. The amplitude, area, TTP, and FWHM as functions of the stimulus duration were calculated and showed a significant downward trend with Increasing stimulus duration for the amplitude and the area. It supports the ranges of nonlinearity are less than 8 seconds.
This paper presented an application of the geotechnical hybrid-online simulation to the consolidation settlement problem of soft clay. Conventional numerical analyses have used idealized soil constitutive models obtained from the laboratory soil tests. On the other hand, in the hybrid-online simulation, soil response was directly introduced to numerical analyses from the soil element test, and, therefore, the complicated parameter estimation was not required in this method. Fundamentals of the hybrid-online simulation method and the development of the algorithm and corresponding hardware and software for the system were presented in this study. Furthermore, an incremental loading consolidation and the hydraulic conductivity test and a comparative study using the Terzagh's conventional consolidation theory were carried out for the system verification including the performance of the experimental device and source coding of software components, and the data reliability obtained from the system. In conclusion, we found that the hybrid-online consolidation simulation system could reproduce the consolidation behavior of the remolded Kaolinite specimen withoutany discrepancies.

Abstract Urea($(NH_2)_2CO$) and THAMP (Tris(hydroxymethyl) aminomethane phosphate) are new organic nonlinear optical materials (NLO) for the device application such as the frequency conversion of laser radiation. The single crystals of urea and THAMP have been grown by the falling temperature method and the temperature difference method. The crystal growth parameters were presented associated with the molphology of the grown crystals. Based on the solubility measurements, methanol was a suitable solvent for the growth of urea. The solubilities of urea have a positive temperature coefficient and the heat of solution of urea was estimated to be -2.58 kcal/mol. The grown crystals of urea have the preferential growth habit in the z-axis. Additives such as $NH_4_H_2PO_4$, KCL, $H_3PO_4$, $CaCl_2{\cdot}2H_2O$, $C_2H_5OH$ were used for the favourable growth in the x - and y-axis and the preventive growth in the z-axis. The moleratio of THAM and H3P04 for the solution of THAMP was 1 : 1. The solubilities of THAMP have a positive temperature coefficient. The heat of solution was estimated to be - 1.70 kcal/ mol.
