Effect of boundary mobility on nonlinear pulsatile-flow induced dynamic instability of FG pipes

  • In practical engineering such as aerial refueling pipes, the boundary of the fluid-conveying pipe is difficult to be completely immovable. Pipes under movable and immovable boundaries are controlled by different dominant nonlinear factors, where the boundary mobility will affect the nonlinear dynamic characteristics, which should be focused on for adopting different strategies for vibration suppression and control. The nonlinear dynamic instability characteristics of functionally graded fluid-conveying pipes lying on a viscoelastic foundation under movable and immovable boundary conditions are systematically studied for the first time. Nonlinear factors involving nonlinear inertia and nonlinear curvature for pipes with a movable boundary as well as tensile hardening and nonlinear curvature for pipes with an immovable boundary are comprehensively considered during the derivation of the governing equations of the principal parametric resonance. The stability boundary and amplitude-frequency bifurcation diagrams are obtained by employing the two-step perturbation- incremental harmonic balance method (TSP-IHBM). Results show that the movability of the boundary of the pipe has a great influence on the vibration amplitude, bifurcation topology, and the physical meanings of the stability boundary due to different dominant nonlinear factors. This research has guidance significance for nonlinear dynamic design of fluid-conveying pipe with avoiding in the instability regions.

  • In this paper we introduce a multigrid method for solving the nonliear Urysohn integral equation. The algorithm is derived from a discrete resolvent equation which approximates the continuous resolvent equation of the nonlinear Urysohn integral equa-tion. The algorithm is mathematically equivalent to Atkinson's adap-tive twogrid iteration. But the two are different computationally. We show the convergence of the algorithm and its equivalence to Atkinson's adaptive twogrid iteration. in our numerical example we compare our algorithm to other multigrid methods for solving the nonliear Urysohn integral equation including the nonlinear multigrid nethod introduced by hackbush.

  • This article explores the problem of ergodicity for the nonlinear autoregressive processes with ARCH structure in a very general setting. A sufficient condition for the geometric ergodicity of the model is developed along the lines of Feigin and Tweedie(1985), thereby extending classical results for specific nonlinear time series. The condition suggested is in turn applied to some specific nonlinear time series illustrating that our results extend those in the literature.

  • In the present manuscript, geometrically nonlinear free vibration analysis of thin laminated plates resting on non-linear elastic foundations is investigated. Winkler-Pasternak type foundation model is used. Governing equations of motions are obtained using the von Karman type nonlinear theory. The method of discrete singular convolution is used to obtain the discretised equations of motion of plates. The effects of plate geometry, boundary conditions, material properties and foundation parameters on nonlinear vibration behavior of plates are presented.

  • This paper discusses the general properties and the design procedures of Internal Model Control(IMC) scheme for nonlinear plants. Also we propose new nonlinear IMC(NIMC) design method using linear IMC. Although all IMC controllers can be thought simple 'inverse controller', its nonlinear realization is not easy. Propose NIMC is composed multiple linear models, IMC controllers, and switching scheme. The advantages of this method are we can use simple linear IMC design method and need not nonlinear modelings.

  • In this paper we consider an approach to a formal linearization for time-variant nonlinear systems. A time-variant nonlinear sysetm is assumed to be described by a time-variant nonlinear differential equation. For this system, we introduce a coordinate transformation function which is composed of the Chebyshev polynomials. Using Chebyshev expansion to the state variable and Laguerre expansion to the time variable, the time-variant nonlinear sysetm is transformed into the time-variant linear one with respect to the above transformation function.   • This paper addresses a method for nonlinear controller construction for a general nonlinear system with the separation of controller construction and manipulated values generation.   • In this paper feedback linearization of valve-controlled nonlinear hydraulic velocity control system is studied. The $C^{\infty}$ nonlinear transformation T is obtained, and it is shown that this transformation is global one. Linear equivalence of nonlinear hydraulic velocity control system is obtained by this global nonlinear transformation, and linear state feedback control law is applied to this linear model.   • A neural model predictive control strategy combining a neural network for plant identification and a nonlinear programming algorithm for solving nonlinear control problems is proposed. A constrained nonlinear optimization approach using successive quadratic programming cooperates with neural identification network is used to generate the optimum control law for the complicate continuous/batch chemical reactor systems that have inherent nonlinear dynamics. Based on our approach, we developed a neural model predictive controller(NMPC) which shows excellent performances on nonlinear, model-plant mismatch cases of chemical reactor systems.

  • This paper presents He's Energy Balance Method (EBM) for solving nonlinear oscillatory differential equations. Three strong nonlinear cases have been studied analytically. Analytical results of the EBM are compared with numerical solutions using Runge-Kutta's algorithm. The effects of different important parameters on the nonlinear response of the systems are studied. The results show the presented method is potentially to solve high nonlinear vibration equations.
