The Design of Sliding Model Controller with Perturbation Estimator Using Observer-Based Fuzzy Adaptive Network

  • To improve control performance of a non-linear system, many other reserches have used the sliding model control algorithm. The sliding mode controller is known to be robust against nonlinear and unmodeled dynamic terms. However, this algorithm raises the inherent chattering caused by excessive switching inputs around the sliding surface. Therefore, in order to solve the chattering problem and improve control performance, this study has developed the sliding mode controller with a perturbation estimator using the observer-based fuzzy adaptive network. The perturbation estimator based on the fuzzy adaptive network generates the control input of compensating unmodeled dynamics terms and disturbance. And the weighting parameters of the fuzzy adaptive network are updated on-line by adaptive law in order to force the estimation errors converge to zero. Therefore, the combination of sliding mode control and fuzzy adaptive network gives rise to the robust and intelligent routine. For evaluation control performance of the proposed approach, tracking control simulation is carried is carried out for the hydraulic motion simulator which is a 6-degree of freedom parallel manipulator.

  • EPS (Electric Power Steering) is important device for improving vehicle's dynamics and static performances. This paper deals with simulator design for C-EPS (Colum type-EPS), development assist and returnability control algorithm. First, C-EPS system model was simply designed because EPS system is complex control system that has many unknown variables. These parameters were simplified through assumptions. Second, C-EPS simulator was designed for development of control algorithm. This simulator has SAS (Steering Angle Sensor), dual torque sensor, dual load cell for measuring rack force, dual linear actuator for generating tire force and Data Acquisition System. Using this simulator, control methods ware tested. Third, control algorithm was designed for torque assist and returnability. Assist torque map and returnability torque map were found by lots of simulation test. These torque maps were tuned for EPS actuator control. The simulation result was compared with non-EPS system result. In this research, the C-EPS simulator was designed for development of control algorithm about torque assistant and returnability. Using this simulator, control algorithm was improved.

  • Insulation aging diagnosis system provides early warning regarding electrical equipment defect. Early warning is very important in that it can avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. Since relations of insulation aging and partial discharge dynamics are non-linear, it is very difficult to provide early warning in an electrical equipment. In this paper, we propose the design method of insulation aging diagnosis system that use a magnetic wave and acoustic signal to diagnoses an electrical equipment. Proposed system measures the partial discharge on-line from DAS(Data Acquisition System) and acquires 2D Patterns from analyzing it. For fettering the noise contained in sensor signals we used ICA algorithms. Using this data design of the neuro-fuzzy model that diagnoses an electrical equipment is investigated. Validity of the new method is asserted by numerical simulation.

  • The Velocity Autocorrelation Function (VAF) of the sodium ions is calculated for a range of temperature from 250K to 1000K and converted into the linear ac-conductivity and ac-susceptibility response via Fourier transformation. A peak is found in the conductivity around $6\times10^{12}$ Hz that has some of the character of a Poley absorption. Here it is shown to be due to an harmonically coupled site vibrations of the sodium atoms, which extend only over a limited range. At frequencies below the peak the conductivity tends towards a constant i.e. dc value corresponding to a constant flow of ions through the simulation cell. At high temperatures the conductivity due to this ion transport process behaves like a metal with an insulator to metal transition occurring around a specific temperature.

Efficient Solving Methods Exploiting Sparsity of Matrix in Real-Time Multibody Dynamic Simulation with Relative Coordinate Formulation

  • In this paper, new methods for efficiently solving linear acceleration equations of multibody dynamic simulation exploiting sparsity for real-time simulation are presented. The coefficient matrix of the equations tends to have a large number of zero entries according to the relative joint coordinate numbering. By adequate joint coordinate numbering, the matrix has minimum off-diagonal terms and a block pattern of non-zero entries and can be solved efficiently. The proposed methods, using sparse Cholesky method and recursive block mass matrix method, take advantages of both the special structure and the sparsity of the coefficient matrix to reduce computation time. The first method solves the η$\times$η sparse coefficient matrix for the accelerations, where η denotes the number of relative coordinates. In the second method, for vehicle dynamic simulation, simple manipulations bring the original problem of dimension η$\times$η to an equivalent problem of dimension 6$\times$6 to be solved for the accelerations of a vehicle chassis. For vehicle dynamic simulation, the proposed solution methods are proved to be more efficient than the classical approaches using reduced Lagrangian multiplier method. With the methods computation time for real-time vehicle dynamic simulation can be reduced up to 14 per cent compared to the classical approach.

  • Conventionally, because it is difficult to control a ship in shallow water and because attempting to do so creates unwanted environmental effects, maneuvering ships in the harbor area for berthing is usually done with the assistance of tugboats. In this paper, we propose a new method for berthing ships automatically by using bow and stern thrusters. Specifically, a steering motion model of a ship is considered, and parameters in the equation are evaluated by the system identification technique. An optimal controller based on observations was designed from the linearization of the non-linear ship motion in the horizontal plane. It is used to reduce the uncertainty about the ship's dynamics and reduce measurement requirements. The performance of the controller was also analyzed for its robustness relative to avoiding disturbing the environment due to winds, currents, and wave-drift forces. Experiments were conducted to estimate the potential for identifying result and the design of the controller. Specifically, in this paper, the system modeling and tracking control approach are discussed based on a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) servo-system design.

[ $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O{8+\delta}$ ] Intrinsic Josephson Junctions in a Parallel Magnetic Field

  • We have investigated the Josephson vortex dynamics in $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O{8+\delta}$ intrinsic Josephson junctions subjected to a magnetic field parallel to $CuO_2$ planes. We investigated mesas with $40\times40{\mu}m^2$ in size and containing 6 and 20. intrinsic junctions. The zero field I-V characteristics exhibited a typical hysteretic, multi-branched nature of the intrinsic Josephson effect. At high magnetic fields (H>1.5 T), I-V characteristics showed flux flow steps. The Swihart velocity obtained from this observation was about $4.2\times10^5$ m/s, which was the lowest mode electromagnetic wave velocity of N coupled stack. The experimental I-V curves fitted well into the simple model of Cherenkov radiation including Ohmic and non-linear dissipation terms. This suggests that the dissipation mechanism of Josephson vortex be due to both Cherenkov radiation and quasiparticle tunneling current.

Design Optimization of a Pin-Fin Type Heat Sink (핀-휜형 방열판의 설계 최적화)

  • Design optimization of the heat sink with 7${\times}$7 square pin-fins is performed numerically using the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and the Computer Aided Optimization (CAO). In the pin-fins heat sink, the optimum design variables for fin height (h), fin width (w), and fan-to-heat sink distance (c) can be achieved when the thermal resistance ($\theta$$_{j}$) at the junction and the overall pressure drop ($\Delta$p) are minimized simultaneously. To complete the optimization, the finite volume method for calculating the objective functions, the BFGS method for solving the unconstrained non-linear optimization problem, and the weighting method for predicting the multi-objective problem are used. The results show that the optimum design variable for the weighting coefficient of 0.5 are as follows: w=4.653 mm, h=59.215 mm, and c=2.667 mm. In this case, the objective functions are predicted as 0.56K/W of thermal resistance and 6.91 Pa of pressure drop. The Pareto optimal solutions are also presented.re also presented.d.

  • The major source of noise in the process of transporting liquids is related to the cavitation phenomenon. The control valve noise is mostly dominated by bubble dynamics under cavitating conditions. In this investigation, an orifice configuration is set-up to correlate its flow-field and acoustic signatures with those from a control valve device. The performance and noise characteristics form the orifice configuration in anechoic surroundings were measured to reveal the noise sources depending on pressure differences across the orifice configuration. The sound powers from the orifice configuration are effectively normalized using proposed scaling parameters. Flow-excited dynamic systems for which there is no strong coupling between the flow and the system response can be described using a linear source-filter model. On this assumption, the normalized sound powers can be decomposed of noise source function and a response function. To find noise sources, pressure spectra measured over a range of pressure differences are transformed into the product of two non-dimensional frequency function : $P_{ss}(He,f_{ca},x/D) = F(f_{ca})\;G(He,x/D)$. This scheme of finding noise sources is shown to be applicable to the cavitation noise from the control valve effectively Two kinds of cavitating modes based on our experimental data are found and discussed.
