  • Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) that is very useful for the high-speed communication system has serious problem of high peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) in time domain. Because of this, the non-linear distortion can be produced and system performance gets worse. CI-OFDM system can get the peak power lowered. In this CI-OFDM system, each parallel data is distributed into N all sub-carriers and conveyed by the orthogonal phase factor. Also, CI-OFDM shows frequency diversity effect. Therefore, CI-OFDM system is better than ordinary OFDM system in terms of BER performance and the PAPR reduction. When it is implemented, however, there is a serious problem whether it can separate and compensate the phase factor in order in the receiver. Because all bits are transmitted simultaneously over all subcarriers and each other phase factors in transmitter. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a FD-CI-OFDM system that is a version of improved CI-OFDM. This is designed by use of the Walsh Hadamard sequence. The FD-CI-OFDM shows better performance than ordinary OFDM and CI-OFDM system.

  • The field of power system harmonics has been receiving a great deal of attention recently. This is primarily due to the fact that non-linear (or harmonic-producing) loads comprise an ever-increasing portion of what is handled at a typical industrial plant. The incidence rate of harmonic-related problems is low, but awareness of harmonic issues can still help increase offshore power plant system reliability. On the rare occasion that harmonics become a problem, this is either due to the magnitude of harmonics produced or power system resonance. This harmonic study used an electrical configuration for the offloading scenario of a Floating LNG (FLNG) unit, considering power load. This electrical network configuration is visible in the electrical network load flow study part of the project. This study has been carried out to evaluate the performance of an electric power system, focusing on the harmonic efficiency of an electrically driven motor system to ensure offshore plant safety. In addition, the design part of this study analyzed the electric power system of an FLNG unit to improve the safety of operation and maintenance.

  • We present an efficient and robust technique to estimate the velocity of moving targets from a single SAR image. In SAR images, azimuth image shift is a well blown phenomenon, which is observed in moving targets having slant-range velocity. Most methods estimated the velocity of moving targets from the distance difference between the road and moving targets or between ship and the ship wake. However, the methods could not be always applied to moving targets because it is difficult to find the road and the ship wake. We propose a method for estimating the velocity of moving targets from azimuth differentials of range-compressed image. This method is based on a phenomenon that Doppler center frequency shift of moving target causes a phase difference in azimuth differential values. The phase difference is linearly distorted by Doppler rate due to the geometry of SAR image. The linear distortion is eliminated from phase removal procedure, and then the constant phase difference is estimated. Finally, range velocity estimates for moving targets are retrieved from the constant phase difference. This technique was tested using an ENVISAT ASAR image in which several unknown ships are presented. In the case of a isolated target, the result was nearly coincident with the result from conventional method. However, in the case of a target which is located near non-target material, the difference of the result between from our algorithm and from conventional method was more than 1m/s.
