Hot-Injection Thermolysis of Cobalt Antimony Nanoparticles with Co(II)-Oleate and Sb(III)-Oleate

  • A novel strategy for the synthesis of $CoSb_2$ nanoparticles is demonstrated via preparation of novel organometallic complexes. Hydrated cobalt oleate (CoOl) and non-hydrated antimony oleate (SbOl) complexes are synthesized as precursors. The $CoSb_2$ nanoparticles are prepared by hot injection, which involves thermolysis of CoOl and SbOl in a non-coordinating solvent at $320^{\circ}C$. The coordination modes and distinct thermal behaviors of the intermediate non-hydrated SbOl complexes are comparatively investigated by thermo-analytical techniques. When the reaction temperature is increased, the particle size is found to increase linearly. The crystallinity of the $CoSb_2$ nanoparticles prepared at $250^{\circ}C$ is amorphous phase without any peaks. $CoSb_2$ structural peaks start to appear at $300^{\circ}C$ and dominant peaks with high crystallinity are synthesized at $320^{\circ}C$. The potential chemical structures of non-hydrated SbOl and their reaction mechanisms by thermolysis are elucidated. The elemental composition and crystallographic structure of $CoSb_2$ nanoparticles suggest a bimodal interaction of the organic shell and the nanoparticle surface, with a chemical absorbed inner layer and physically absorbed outer layer of carboxylic acid.

Semen parameters on the intracytoplasmic sperm injection day: Predictive values and cutoff thresholds of success

  • Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship of semen parameters in samples used for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with fertilization and pregnancy rates in infertile couples. Methods: In this prospective study of Infertile couples with male factor infertility that had undergone ICSI, fractions of the same semen samples obtained for microinjection (to ensure the best predictability) were evaluated to determine the semen parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) on the day of oocyte recovery. Results: In total, 120 couples completed the study and were subdivided into fertilized (n=87) and non-fertilized couples (n=33). The fertilized couples were further classified into pregnant (n=48) and non-pregnant (n=39) couples. Compared to non-fertilized and non-pregnant couples, fertilized and pregnant couples showed statistically significantly higher sperm viability and percentage of normal sperm morphology, as well as significantly lower sperm DFI values. A receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of data from the 120 ICSI cycles showed that sperm viability, normal sperm morphology percentages, and sperm DFI were significant prognostic indicators of fertilization at cutoff values of 40%, 7%, and 46%, respectively. A sperm DFI of 46% showed sensitivity and specificity of 95% and 90%, respectively, for predicting fertilization, and no clinical pregnancies occurred in couples with a sperm DFI above 46%. Conclusion: Semen parameters from the ICSI day sample, especially sperm viability, normal morphology, and DFI, had an impact on fertilization and pregnancy outcomes in ICSI cycles.

  • The injection molding process is widely used in the production of most plastic products. In order to make metal-colored plastic products like those found in modern luxury home alliances, metallic pigments are mixed with a basic resin material for injection molding. However, process control for metal-colored plastic products is extremely difficult due to the non-uniform melt flow of the metallic resin pigments. In this study, the effect of process parameters on the quality of a metal-colored plastic product is evaluated. A rapid mold cooling method using a compressed cryogenic fluid is also proposed to decrease the content of undesired compounds within the plastic product.

사출성형 게이트 설계용 지식형 CAD 시스템 (A Knowledge-Based CAD System for Gate in Injection Molding)

  • 본 논문은 사출성형제품의 게이트 설계를 합리적으로 수행하기 위해 사출금형설계전문가의 축적된 지식과 경험을 발췌·정리하여 지식베이스를 작성하였으며, 설계에 필요한 제품의 형상정보를 제공하기 위해 총칭형상과 특징형상 개념을 이용하여 특징형상을 정의하였다. 또한 지식베이스를 통해 산출된 설계결과를 기하학적 모델러와의 인터페이스를 통해 3차원 형상으로 보여지도록 하였으며 최종 생성된 3차원 기하학적 형상정보는 CAE 모듈이나 CAPP 모듈에서의 후속작업을 위해 제공될 수 있도록 구축되었다.

디젤 분무의 분무 형태와 입경 분포에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on spray pattern and droplet size distribution of diesel spray)

  • To clarify the structure of a diesel spray, a transient non-evaporating diesel spray injected under different ambient pressure and different injection pressure was studied. Spray tip penet- ration and spray angle were measured by taking the high speed shadowgraph of spray and Sauter mean Diameter(SMD) was also measured by light scattering technique at different positions along the spray axis and at different time from the start of injection. The effects of the operating parameters on the spray shape and SMD were investigated. By increasing the injection pressure, the spray tip penetration and the spray angle increased and the change of the ambient pressure also resulted in the considerable change in the shape of the spray. The analysis of SMD measurement showed that the atomization is a process that continues in sp- ace and time. As the injection pressure increases SMD decreases rapidly and with the increa- se of the ambient pressure the atomization process ends faster than the lower ambient press- ure and at lower pressure the atomization process continues to much farther downstream and far afterward.

  • The supersonic combustion experiments are carried out using T3 free-piston shock tunnel. Different shock tube fill pressures have various inflow conditions. $15^{\circ}$ inclined hydrogen fuel injection is located before the cavity. Oblique shock is generated from the cavity and reflects off the top and bottom wall. For non-reacting flow, fuel makes the shear layer thicker above the cavity therefore, the shock is generated just before the trailing edge. This research has self-ignition in the combustor. For reacting flow, as the equivalence ratio increases, flame starts to generate near the injector or occur in the recirculation zone before the injector. High fuel injection sustains the jet shape in the cross flow and air can mix with fuel along the shear layer. Therefore, two flame layers find above the cavity for high equivalence ratio.

For non-reacting flow, static pressures in low equivalence ratio are similar to those in no fuel injection. As equivalence ratio is increased, static pressures are increased in the duct. In the similar equivalence ratio, static pressures are increased when total enthalpy is decreased. For reacting flow, the flame is occurred near the cavity. The combustion is weak locally in the middle of the duct. The up and down pressure distribution in the duct means that the supersonic combustion is generated.

  • For mass production, usually injection mold has multi-cavity which is filled through geometrical balanced runner system. Despite geometrical balanced runner system, filling imbalances between cavity to cavity have always been observed. These filling imbalances are one of the most significant factors to affect quality of plastic parts. Filling imbalances are results from non-symmetrical shear rate distribution within melt when it flows through tile runner system. It has been possible to decrease filling imbalance by optimizing processing conditions, but it has not completely eliminated this phenomenon during injection molding processing. This paper presents a solution for these filling imbalances by using Runner Core pin (RC pin). The Runner Core pin which is developed in this study creates a symmetrical shear distribution within runner. As a result of using Runner Core pin, a remarkable improvement in reducing filling imbalances was confirmed.

상수도수 불소투입에 관한 연구 (A Study of Fluoride Injection in Water Supply)

  • Fluoride was first introduced into the drinking water of residents of Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1945 for the prevention of dental caries. Ever since, growing numbers of communities favor fluoridation. Now, over 7000 communities in the United States are adding F(0.7~1.2ppm) to their drinking water. The most effective to prevent tooth decay is putting lower concentrated fluoride(F, 0.7~1.2ppm) into drinking water. However, exact fluoride injection amount have not been decided, because the research of the fluoride injection effect was insufficient. Therefore, after separating fluoridation and non-fluoridation into public water supplies, we investigated concentration of fluoride, alkalinity, Al, Ca, Mg, evaporation residuals in APT, domestic, commercial area. Then, we decided allowable concentration of fluoride, injection point of fluoride in water supply system, cost effectiveness.

강체 선회유동 조건에서의 분무 분산 특성에 관한 연구 (Dispersion Characteristics of Sprays under the Condition of Solid Body Rotating Swirl)

  • Spray dispersion in high pressure diesel engines have been simulated experimentally with a special emphasis on the effect of swirl by using a liquid injection technique. A constant volume chamber was designed to be rotatable in order to generate a continuous swirl and to have the flow field closely resembling a solid body rotation. Emulsified fuel was injected into the chamber and the developing process of fuel sprays was visualized. The effect of swirl on the spray dispersion was quantified by calculating non-dimensionalized dispersion area according to the spray tip penetration length. The results show that the effect of swirl on the spray dispersion is different between short and long spray penetrations. For short range of spray tip penetration, the effect of swirl on spray dispersion is quite small. However, as the spray tip is penetrated into longer distance in spray chamber, the effect of swirl on spray dispersion becomes larger. These results can be used as a basic data for designing combustion chamber and injection system of direct injection diesel engine.
