점토, 폐토양 및 고로슬래그를 고화재로 이용한 비소성 시멘트 고화체 제조: 광물학적 고찰 (Manufacture of non-sintered cement solidifier using clay, waste soil and blast furnace slag as solidifying agents: Mineralogical investigation)

  • 본 연구는 원자력 시설 해체 시 발생되는 저준위 및 극저준위 폐토양, 점토와 산업부산물인 고로슬래그를 이용하여 방사성 폐기물을 안전하게 담지할 수 있는 비소성 시멘트의 제조 가능성을 평가하고 광물·형태학적 분석을 통하여 생성된 반응 물질에 대하여 고찰하였다. 본 연구에서는 (1) 폐토양, 점토 및 고로슬래그의 특성 분석, (2) 폐토양, 점토 및 고로슬래그를 고화재 및 성분조정제로 이용한 원전 해체 폐기물 담지를 위한 비소성 시멘트 제조 및 최적의 배합 비율 도출, (3) 제조된 비소성 시멘트 고화체의 수화반응 생성물질에 대하여 광물·형태학적 분석 등을 수행하였다. 비소성 시멘트 고화체의 광물·형태학적 분석 결과, 폐토양과 점토는 수화반응 생성물이 관측되지 않았으며, 고로슬래그의 경우 고화체의 강도를 발현시킬 수 있는 수화반응생성물질인 calcium silicate hydrate (CSH), 에트링가이트(ettringite)가 생성되는 것을 확인하였다. 폐토양, 점토를 고화재로 이용한 비소성 시멘트의 재령 28일 후 고화체는 최적의 배합 비율에서 약 3 MPa의 강도를 나타내 처분장 인수기준 압축강도인 3.44 MPa를 만족하지 못하는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나, 고로슬래그를 고화재로 이용한 비소성 시멘트는 모든 실험 조건에서 처분장 인수기준 압축강도를 만족하며, 최적의 배합 비율에서는 약 27 MPa로 높게 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 비소성 시멘트 고화재로 고로슬래그, 방사성 핵종에 대한 흡착제 역할로 폐토양 및 점토를 이용한다면 방사성 폐기물 처분을 위한 최적의 비소성 시멘트를 제조할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • Nowadays blending ratio of OMG (old magazine) in recovered paper used for manufacturing newspaper have been increased. When large amount of OMG is consumed in newsprint mill, brightness can be improved by inorganic pigments of coating layer. On the other hand decrease in yield of deinking process will be encountered because the pigments can be removed as reject of froth flotation process. Therefore selection of the optimal deinking agent is an important. Non-ionic surfactant have been used widely in newsprint mill. Non-ionic surfactant has amphoteric characteristics. Hydrophilic group is ethylene and propylene oxide that can induce hydrogen bonding with water molecules. In this regard, cloud point is an important parameter in order to control efficiency of deinking process because hydration of the hydrophobic group can be varied according to temperature of a system. In this study, deinking properties of ONP at high blending ratio of OMG was analyzed according to cloud points of non-ionic surfactants. $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$, brightness and effective residual ink concentration did not affected by the change of cloud points. Especially, flotation reject decreased significantly according to increase in cloud point of the non-ionic surfactant. Consequently, when a nonionic surfactant having a cloud point higher than the temperature of the system is used, properties of the deinked pulp can be maintained and yield of deinking process can be improved.

매스콘크리트 구조물에서의 시멘트 종류별 수화발열 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Thermal Characteristics in Association with Cement Types in Massive Concrete Structure)

  • The larger, loftier and more highly strengthened the recent structures become, the greater attention is paid to the problem of thermal crack occurrence associate with hydration heat. As one of methods to solve the problem, a care has been taken to the improvement of construction such as the application of pre-cooling or pipe-cooling, adjustment of concrete block size, concrete placement timing, joint arrangement and so on. But it is expected that a proper selection of cement shall additionally contribute to the control of thermal cracks. In this study, thus, we selected 4 types of cements such as Type V for anti-sulphate, blast furnace cements (slag content of 45% and 65% respectively)and ternary blended low heat cement, and carried out mock-up tests. In every assigned time, temperatures and thermal stresses were measured and calculated from raw data. As a result of measurement, it was found that the magnitude of hydration heat is in order of blast furnace slag cement. Type V and ternary blended low heat cement. Results of thermal stresses were same as the order of temperature. In addition, thermal stresses calculated from the data of strain gauges showed almost similar to those measured from effective stress gauges only when strain values were adjusted properly in accordance with initial time of stress appearance. Theoretical results agreed well with the measured values comparatively, but showed slight differences. It is inferred that these differences shall be reduced if more tests capable of evaluating thermal characteristics of concrete are carried out.

매스콘크리트구조물의 온도응력평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Thermal Stress of Massive Concrete Structure)

  • 온도균열은 시멘트의 수화열에 의한 온도응력이 콘크리트의 인장강도보다 커질 경우에 발생하는 균열로서, 구조물의 수밀성과 기밀성등에 중대한 영향을 미치기 때문에 매스콘크리트와 같이 단면이 큰 구조물의 설계 및 시공시에는 반드시 온도균열에 대한 배려가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 모의실험체를 대상으로 하여 매스콘크리트의 경화시 발생하는 온도응력을 측정할 목적으로 콘크리트변형계와 무응력계 그리고 유효응력계등을 설치하여구조물 내부의 온도응력의 경시변화를 검토하고 콘크리트변형계를 이용한 온도응력 산정방법 및 문제점등에 대하여 검토하였다. 연구결과 콘크리트변형계와 무응력계를 이용한 새로운 온도응력 산정법을 제시하였으며, 그 결과 유효응력계의 측정치와 거의 일치하는 값을 얻을 수 잇었다. 이를 위해서는 무응력계 또는 이와 동일하게 초기재령시의 콘크리트 자기수축변형률을 측정할 수 있는 게이지의 설치가 전제가 되어야 하며, 초기재령시의 건조수축량에 대한 정량화가 가능하다면 콘크리트변형계를 이용한 온도응력의 산정도 충분히 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

노인의 혈청 삼투압과 건강관련 요인, 생화학적 변수들과의 상관성 (Serum Osmolality and Its Association with Health-Related Factors and Biochemical Parameters in the Elderly)

  • This study was designed to determine serum osmolality and to investigate the association among serum osmolality, health-related factors and biochemical indices. Two hundred thirty seven elderly(86 male, 151 female : mean age 73.8) residing in the chungbuk area participated. Sociodemographic data and self-perceived health status were obtained by interview, and biochemical parameters were measured. The mean serum osmolaity was 301.2$\pm$10.1 mOsm/kg(range 240.8~328.9 mOsm/kg) and serum osmolality of the females(302.4 mOsm/kg) was significantly(p<0.05) higher than that of the males(299.0 mOsm/kg). Only 11.0% of the elderly were within the accepted normal range(280~295 mOsm/kg) and the majority of the subjects were in a hyperosmolar state(60.8% : 296~307 mOsm/kg). It was observed that serum osmolality was reduced with increasing age but not statistically significant. There was no significant difference in serum osmolality according to marital status. Serum osmolality was significantly lower(p<0.05) in the elderly with higher self-perceived health scores than the elderly with lower self-perceived health scores, however no significant difference was observed between the presence or absence of disease. Serum osmolality tended to be higher(p=0.06) in the elderly with difficulty in mobility than the elderly who have no problem in mobility. Serum osmolality tended to be higher(p=0.06) among drug users compared to that of non-users. There was a significant association between serum osmolality and serum albumin in females but not in males. Significant associations were shown between serum osmolality and serum transferrin in both sexes. However, there was no significant correlation between serum osmolality and hemoglobin or hematocrit except with hematocrit in females only. The results of this study indicated that the elderly were dehydrated and hydration state seems to influence health status and, the elderly should be encouraged to drink an adequate amount of fluids. Also, the hydration state is required to be assessed and considered for the interpretation of biochemical parameters.

Effects of Osmotic and Non-Osmotic Priming Methods for Enhancing Germination of Pepper Seed

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of osmotic priming, liquid smoke (LS), sonication and modified drum priming treatments to improve the germination speed and uniformity of pepper seeds for high quality export seeds. Seeds were treated in 0.5, 1.0, 5.0, 10% LS solution only or with 100mM $K_2SO_4$ solution for 6days at $15^{\circ}C$. Sonication treatment was performed for 5, 10, and 20 minutes at an intensity of 5.2, 10.4, 15.7, 21.0, 26.1kHz in water at $15^{\circ}C$. After sonication treatment, seeds were primed with water or 100mM $K_2SO_4$ for 4days. 40, 50 and 60% seed moisture content (SMC) of hydrated seeds were incubated for 84, 96 and 108h in a container with a relative humidity of 99% at 26rpm for a modified drum priming treatments. 0.5% LS treatment with water or 100mM $K_2SO_4$ priming showed significant effects with 71% GP (9.0days MGT) and 66% GP (7.4days MGT), respective, while untreated seeds resulted in only 61% GP and 10days MGT. The healthy seed % was increased by 24% by $K_2SO_4$ priming with LS treatment compared to untreated seeds. However, sonication treatment showed less germination or no difference compared to untreated seed, regardless of intensity and treatment time. The modified drum priming treatment (108h incubation after 50% SMC hydration) significantly improved the GP (on the $4^{th}$days after sowing), germination rate (GR), and MGT to 65%, $28%{\cdot}day^{-1}$, and 3.6days, whereas untreated seed resulted only 7% GP, $17%{\cdot}day^{-1}$ GR and 5.9days MGT. Thus, modified drum priming treatment effectively improved seed germination and is considered as an industrially promising treatment methods considering the shortening of the treatment period and environment-friendly aspects.

불소-실리카 복합형 균열저감제가 첨가된 콘크리트의 재료 특성과 수축균열 저항성 (Material Properties and Shrinkage Crack Resistance of Concrete Produced with Fluorine-Silicate Hybrid Type Crack Reducing Agent)

  • 본 연구에서는 배합강도 30MPa로 설계된 25-30-18 규격의 콘크리트 배합에 불소화합물 및 실리카로 구성된 불소-실리카 복합형 균열저감제(FS)를 시멘트 중량을 기준으로 0.5% 간격으로 2.0%까지 첨가한 후 슬럼프 경시 변화, 공기량 경시 변화 및 블리딩 등의 굳지 않은 콘크리트의 재료특성을 평가하였다. 또한, 콘크리트 수화온도 변화에 미치는 영향과 소성수축 및 건조수축의 저항성에 미치는 효과를 파악하였다. FS가 첨가된 콘크리트의 재료특성에서 슬럼프 및 공기량 경시 변화는 무첨가 콘크리트에 비해 큰 차이가 없었으나 블리딩과 수화온도는 저감되는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 경화 전 후 소성수축 및 건조수축에 기인된 콘크리트의 수축균열 저항성이 FS를 $1.0{\sim}1.5%$의 첨가함으로써 크게 저감됨을 알 수 있었다.

알루민산삼칼슘 클링커와 석고의 수화에 의한 에트린자이트 미세다공체 생성거동 (Formation Behavior of Microporous Ettringite Body by Hydration of Tricalciumaluminate Clinker and Gypsum)

  • Ettringite$(3CaO{\cdot}Al_2O_3{\cdot}3CaSO_4{\cdot}32H_2O)$, one of the hydrated phase of Portland cement is usually formed in the early stage of hydration by the reaction of tricalciumaluminate$(C_3A)$ and gypsum. The rapid and strong crystal growth of separated rod-shaped ettringite have been utilized for the preparation of special cements of rapid setting, high strength and non-shrinking properties. The ettringite also has been noticed as a promising materials for the immobilization of various waste ions because of its unique crystal structure which has abundant channels and exchangeable ionic compounds. In this study, the formation and growth behavior of the ettringite was investigated in the system $C_3A-CaSO_4-H_2O$ using $C_3A$ clinker and gypsum to obtain a microporous body for waste ion immobilization. Ettringite was revealed to form by the dissolution-precipitation mechanism and the bulk body was by the entangled growth of rod-shaped ettringite crystals. The hardened body was composed of nearly pure rod-shaped ettringite interlocked each other with adequate mechanical strength. The homogeneity of structure, pore size, specific surface area and porosity of the hardened body were influenced by reaction temperature, water/powder ratio and the curing time. The hardened body prepared with water/powder ratio of 1 at $24^{\circ}C$ for one day showed excellent morphological properties for the purposed materials.

동절기 무양생 콘크리트의 현장적용 성능 평가에 관한 연구 (Study on the Properties of Field Applied Non-Curing Concrete in Winter Season)

  • 동절기 콘크리트 공사에서는 무엇보다도 저온환경에서의 콘크리트의 안정적인 품질 확보가 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 고분말도 발열분체를 적용하여 동절기($0^{\circ}C$이하)에서도 양생 없이 강도발현이 가능한 콘크리트를 개발하였으며, 이를 현장에 적용하기 위해 실 부재 사이즈의 Mock-Up 부재를 제작하여 개발기술의 현장적용 성능평가를 실시하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 레미콘 회수수를 건설폐기물이 아닌 자원으로서 적극 활용하고자 탈수케이크상의 슬러지 고형분과 회수골재, 혼화재료(BS, FA)만을 사용한 무시멘트 모르타르 및 콘크리트를 제작하여 재령 및 양생조건에 따른 압축강도 발현특성을 검토하였다. pH 12.5 이상의 상징수가 알칼리자극제로 작용하여 BS의 수화를 촉진한 결과 BS의 혼입량이 증가함에 따라 압축강도는 증가하였으며, TG-DTA, SEM 등의 분석결과와도 일치하였다.
